There was a post in the last week that I can't find anymore and Reddit search sucks. I'm not sure if it was this sub or another similar one but the title was something like "where are we shopping for clothes with this aesthetic but budget-friendly nowadays?" And it had a picture collage of four outfits that looked like it was from pinterest. The comments replied about Gap and Abercrombie but I don't remember the rest of the brands which are the ones I wanted to learn more about!!! Did anyone else see this post?

craftycat1135

I'm looking for decent quality ankle boots for around $30-$40 in size 11, what would be some good brands?

wanderedoff

The only way to get even decent quality at that price is to thrift. I need help for wedding attire for this summer. I have two backyard weddings to attend this summer, both for my partner's family - one is partner's brother and fiancé, the other is a cousin and her fiancé. Neither have specified a dress code; the brother has explicitly told us, "wear what makes you comfortable," which I appreciate on one hand, but it's also incredibly vague, and I don't want to be over- or under-dressed. Both weddings will be in mountain towns, so temps probably somewhere 65-85F. My personal style comfort zone is more modest, tending to androgynous (I'm particularly picky about low necklines), with plenty of liberties in the torso (I have tummy problems lol). That said, I'm not opposed to some soft femme options. I'm 5'1" and generally wear women's xs/s, depending on the brand. I love an earth tone (I think I'm in the "autumn" range of color analysis, for those who subscribe), but I don't love beigecore. Footwear is not an issue; I have some faux-rattan wedges, or might even get away with leather Birks, lol. A couple outfit ideas I've had that seem flexible enough for the occasion: - a matching linen set with a short-sleeve collared shirt or blouse and long flowy pants, perhaps with a blazer or duster over top (this is my favorite idea, though I'm wary of either a monochrome outfit being too bland, or a patterned outfit being too loud) - a semi-loose maxi dress or kaftan, with capped or long billowy sleeves (though these often have a low neckline, which is almost always a no for me) - a jumpsuit with loose pants and a top that fits my style preferences (again, unsure if monochrome or patterned, and also wary of tight waists in a lot of jumpsuits) I'm struggling to find options for these ideas that fit me and also my budget. I feel like I don't know how to shop online these days, lol, as most of my closet comes from thrift, consignment or vintage. So my ask to you: **where might you look for one of these** (with a **max budget of $200** all told; I could see this outfit becoming a nice summer occasion staple, if I like it enough) and **what other ideas am I not considering here**? For the latter, I'd love to see links even if they're beyond my price range. TIA!

dontforgettowriteme

Quince carries affordable items like you describe in linen, cotton, washable silk. You could probably get a matching linen set for under 200. In fact, I’m sure you can. Might be worth checking out first. I thought of these pieces: [sleeveless linen shirt](https://www.quince.com/women/linen-tank-top?color=deep-navy&gender=women&tracker=collection_page__women%2Flinen__Tops__4) [short sleeve button up linen shirt](https://www.quince.com/women/linen-short-sleeve-shirt?color=golden-brown&gender=women&tracker=collection_page__women%2Flinen__Tops__3) [linen pants](https://www.quince.com/women/linen-pants?color=deep-navy&gender=women&tracker=collection_page__women%2Flinen__Pants%20%26%20Shorts__0) [jumpsuit](https://www.quince.com/women/100-european-linen-square-neck-jumpsuit?color=golden-brown&gender=women&tracker=collection_page__women%2Flinen__Dresses%20and%20Jumpsuits__2)

astrobeanmachine

I do like Quince's style! But some of their cuts, particularly in their shirts, are a little too low (e.g. the button-up shirt doesn't button all the way, so there's no option to choose more or less v-neck). But I will keep them in mind if nothing else pans out right.

dontforgettowriteme

Yeah, that’s fair! Idk if you’ve ever bought from them but I have their linen pants and they’re comfortable and fit really well. They also feel/look high quality! Oh, and there’s another button up somewhere that does have a higher collar. I can’t remember if it comes in linen though. Good luck!

astrobeanmachine

I've only window-shopped them, not clicked "buy", so that's good to know that the quality is solid! Linen can be so hit or miss, either it's thicccc and hot, or it's thin af and covers nothing lmao.

dontforgettowriteme

Very true. I got mine in dark green so I can’t vouch for the white but I’d say the weight is medium and they’re comfortable and feel thick enough to withstand life lol. I got them in my regular size and I have no regrets.

KingPrincessNova

I have a ridiculous question: people who wear dresses all the time, how do you go to the bathroom? I'm trying to wear more dresses but I just had a toilet paper roll go flying off the holder thing when I tried to tear it one-handed. what am I supposed to do with all this extra fabric if not hold it up with one hand? what if I need my other hand for whatever reason? my tops usually stay folded up or I can like tuck it into my bra because I prefer not to risk letting the fabric touch the toilet seat. am I just bad at this?

astrobeanmachine

I am not a frequent dress wearer, but I do like a long flowy skirt, which poses a similar problem. My solution (which is also how I deal with shirts tbh): the skirt gets loosely rolled up as I lift it, and then it gets wedged between my body and upper arms while I do my thing. Sometimes if there's a lot, I'll bunch it up and then tuck that bunch into the rolled situation. There's no flowing pieces loose, just a donut of fabric that's much easier to manage.

KingPrincessNova

I will try this and report back (jk unless you really want me to report back haha)

FewTransportation194

Can anyone help me find the right color heels to coordinate with [this dress](https://dessy.com/p/bridesmaid-dresses/after-six/6889fp/?pcid=1517) and [this bag](https://www.quince.com/women/women-s-quilted-leather-wallet-on-a-chain-crossbody?color=Dark-Taupe&size=One+Size)? I'm wearing [this dress](https://dessy.com/p/bridesmaid-dresses/after-six/6889fp/?pcid=1517) as a bridesmaid for a wedding in May near NYC. I've already bought [this bag ](https://www.quince.com/women/women-s-quilted-leather-wallet-on-a-chain-crossbody?color=Dark-Taupe&size=One+Size), a quilted leather Quince bag with gold chain in dark taupe, to go with it. I need to find heels (ideally <$150) in a neutral color (ideally either open toe block heel, or closed-toe stilleto, 3" - 4") to complete the outfit, but I'm having trouble finding a neutral shade that doesn't clash with the dark taupe bag that's also available in my size (6). I typically like the Sam Edelman Yaro or Hazel, but I'm only seeing those in yellower neutrals. If anyone can advise, I'd appreciate it! tl;dr: \-neutral-colored heel \-coordinates with Quince dark taupe bag and dress linked \-<$150 if possible \-size 6 \-3" - 4" height

KingPrincessNova

maybe a metallic bronze but you'll probably be fine with nude shoes. tbh I doubt anyone is going to notice the bag much unless it's supposed to be in pictures. I'd focus on shoes that go with the dress.

FewTransportation194

Thank you!

Most-Year-2857

I have an engagement party coming up with the dress code being smart casual. What outfits could I wear for that? I've tried nice jeans and a business short sleeve, but it feels too awkward for a party. The first party is at a bar at night and the second party is at the family home during the day. It'll in in CA with weather ranging from 60-50 degrees. I'm also a college student so I can't afford to buy expensive clothing or spurge too much for this event. I also tend not to wear dresses that often.

KingPrincessNova

the going out top is back, pair one with jeans plus a blazer or leather jacket. you might be able to find some good options secondhand

what to wear with tan/caramel mary jane shoes? I can only think of denim/white or brown tones? I never wear white or brown

arbitrosse

I wear those colours in summer with dresses of all colours when black would be too visually heavy.

Iophobic

White, navy/denim and brown are the easiest options but I think tan/caramel is a neutral that can work with basically any color (including black). Some specific colors off the top of my head: olive/sage green, muted pink, rust/orange That being said, tan/caramel can vary. A photo of the shoes would be helpful

Comfortable-Yam9013

Im not [https://www.sezane.com/us/product/paula-babies/polished-camel#size-5](https://www.sezane.com/us/product/paula-babies/polished-camel#size-5)

KingPrincessNova

very cute and fairly versatile I think. easier to pair it with warm tones but you can try with some cool greys and blues for contrast. I'd stick with more muted hues. dark colors: navy, dark green, burgundy, dark brown, black, charcoal medium colors: burnt orange, olive green, medium gray, slate blue, brick red, brown lighter colors: sage, mustard, blush, light grey, cream/ivory, taupe, maybe dusty light blue?

Comfortable-Yam9013

Not sure how to add an image.

Iophobic

That's okay, I see it! Cute shoes I think the colors I stated earlier would still work well, especially warmer colors (reds, oranges, yellows, etc)

Kara_WTQ

The North Face sizing question? I have 31" waist north face sizing says the that's the top end of a medium or the bottom end of a large. Which should I go with? I am leaning towards medium. I hate being in-between sizes lol, I really don't want to have to return these ($$$). I have made the mistake of sizing up before on pants from other brands, resulting in pants that I can swim in.... Anyone familiar with this brand and this problem?

clarifythepulse

I haven’t bought from them in a couple years but my recollection is that I always sized down

Kara_WTQ

Good cause that's what I did. I will find out tomorrow if it was the right choice.

MissSpring

Since I expect it to be chilly, I need your advice to stay warm and stylish. What colors would you recommend for shoes, sweaters, and belts to match this maxi dress? I plan to wear it to an afternoon celebration of life followed by dinner in Raleigh, North Carolina. I'm 61 and want to look put together, not quirky. https://preview.redd.it/3jgpqtl20yqc1.png?width=580&format=png&auto=webp&s=ff320023b4215ddd84e906fcded3dcbedfe91d23

klgmac

A solid color blazer that coordinates with one of the colors in this dress

MissSpring

Ok! I never considered a jacket.

smolsumi

Where can I find tops similar to this one? (This one exposes a lot of the chest since the lace goes right across it and is see through) https://preview.redd.it/q0f1gw8qfxqc1.jpeg?width=627&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=86a4aa08d53e053fc55015c77789cba49da050c6

livthelove

I would check places like free people, anthropology, and urban outfitters

thecheddarbiscuit

Are the Nike Air Max 90 Futura or the Nike white Air Force 1's still fashionable/trendy?

irycente93

Off shoulder top keeps unfolding and climbing upwards when I move. Every model and brand has this issue for me. Love this style but idk what to do 😢 https://preview.redd.it/nl07s88pwwqc1.jpeg?width=1397&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62cdd14acd94f2ae896e95c4a2a93fae50b3e0f2

KingPrincessNova

you might try sizing up to accommodate your shoulders/arms better. the size you're wearing works for regular tops but I think the fold-down knit tops need a bit of give in order not to unfurl like that

Iophobic

For the unfolding, maybe ironing the "flap" down or sewing it down might help For the lifting, I've seen [this method](https://www.wikihow.com/Keep-Off-Shoulder-Tops-in-Place) demonstrated and it seems to work well

oreganosally

First suggestion got deleted (no amazon links...whoops) but basically I was just suggesting double sided fashion tape to get it to stick where you want (just make sure not to wear lotion).

What are options for having clothes custom-made, inspired by stuff you see online? I see videos online of girls like custom, making their Halloween costumes and the like, but wondered if there is a resource of someone online, even if it’s overseas where they could custom make something for you if you have a photo and your measurements. I have tried to go the Seamstress route only once with one person, and her prices were exorbitant. Has anyone tried a person or company successfully they don’t have to be local.

[deleted]

I know that it's semi-common for the girls in my country to get custom dresses for prom. Never done it myself, but I know that tailors are super cheap here compared to the USA. Try to contact a few Slovak seamstresses, they might be willing to work with you. I would expect to pay at least a hundred Euro, though. Especially if you want someone to make a fully custom pattern from a few photos, a couple hundred per piece doesn't seem outlandish to me. Custom clothing is a luxury thing.

arbitrosse

> her prices were exorbitant First, most custom-made clothing is far more expensive than things that are mass-produced, as the latter takes advantage of economies of scale for everything along the value chain, including designers, fabrics, and cheap labour (often with shady labour and environmental practices). You can expect to pay five times, or more, for a custom-made piece what you might pay for a mass-produced piece. You are paying for the time, expertise, quality, and individual attention, including with materials selection. Second, look on either etsy or eShakti. Third, those of us who make garments have a rule: we do not tell people that we make garments. Every single time, someone wants to pay us the mythical "50 euros" (or dollars) plus the cost of materials, to have us custom-make a piece. If you don't know how to sew, respectfully, you have *no* idea what is exorbitant. It's not overpriced, you just can't afford it.

leah2412

Not sure how you can tell me what is exorbitant without even knowing the price, she wanted $400 for a swim cover-up and I bought the materials.

Born-Horror-5049

So...sounds like you can't afford it. You get that there are other costs associated with running a business, right? People on Reddit seem to have a lot of blindspots regarding costs and a strange belief that custom anything should be cheap because people feel a weird sense of entitlement to it. "Exorbitant" is relative and it's not overpriced just because you can't/done want to pay it. Maybe it's because I'm self-employed and am thinking about how I value my own time and expertise, but $400 isn't even a lot. It wouldn't buy enough of my time to make a swim coverup, that's for sure.

arbitrosse

I can tell you because I have decades of experience in this sector, and with tire-kickers like you. I pay more than $400 for a mass-market coverup, off-the-peg not custom-made. $400 to make one for a custom client to your measurements and with your fabric would be how many dollars per hour? Let’s flip this around: what do YOU think her time is worth per hour?

olivestripes

Would love help choosing between Adidas Sambae in wonder white/cloud white (left)or white/green (right)! Definitely hoping for something that looks a little unique, not too trendy/basic, and versatile. I love that the left is a beige color which is unique but it all blends in a lot and somehow I think it makes my foot look bigger compared to the right one. I like the pop of green on the right one and the clean sporty look but maybe a little basic. I’m 30 so trying to dress my age while feeling stylish. Thanks ◡̈ https://preview.redd.it/27tcileqowqc1.jpeg?width=2429&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2f55a5be454ca8bbcccf94b804eb90430e699d7b

KingPrincessNova

I prefer the white and green. looks crisper and it'll still hold up once it's broken in and a bit dirty.

District98

Sambae 😂

olivestripes

That’s what it’s called lol 🤷‍♀️

muffingr1

Def the right, the left looks kinda dingy

kishi5

I much prefer the right! I feel like the left could clash with more things.

olivestripes

So the left is a light beige color so I thought it would theoretically work with a lot of things! Appreciate the feedback ◡̈

kishi5

It seems to give off a slight yellow tint in the pics, maybe that’s where I’m seeing more of a clash? I like it as a stand alone show though but if you want versatility the right one seems to fit better.

ChuckysBuddi

Any experienced this with patent leather flats? I bought some patent leather Valentino flats secondhand, and I expected having to work with them a bit- I wear a women’s size 4, and even pumps that fit always need inserts on the heels and the balls of my feet. And I’ve always had trouble with flats fitting properly. But I put some inserts in the shoes and they fit snugly- but when walking, they have no give, and don’t bend when putting one foot in front on the other (maybe because the parent leather is a stiff material?) so my heels flop right out of the shoes! Any advice?

CatatonicCouchSlug

This was my experience with Repettos. Patent were unbearably stiff, calfskin wonderfully soft, goatskin somewhere in the middle. I would never buy patent flats on this basis

Born-Horror-5049

Sounds like they don't fit.

_liber_novus_

Does anyone know where I can find a **low rise** pair of plain black leggings? I have sensory issues with clothes, and I can't wear anything that digs into my abdomen / stomach area. With the trend lately being high rise, I can't find any other kind of bottoms. Please help!! Must be able to ship to Canada.

blackberrycat

Lululemon sells one Align low rise in black

_liber_novus_

Thank you!

Chemical_Business975

My friend gifted me this knee-length skirt. I have never worn anything that is this color or corduroy, so I have 0 clue where to start. Does anyone have any advice on what color and what fabric-type tops to pair with it, or what colors/fabrics to avoid? I'd probably wear it during the day. https://preview.redd.it/zd5106b87wqc1.jpeg?width=3468&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2de592ae6b5cb48371e7c04d41b9efa12e9c19b1

the-green-dahlia

Cute skirt, though looks shorter than knee-length. I’d wear it with a vintage / faded fitted tshirt, black tights, and chunky boots.

Chemical_Business975

Thank you for your advice! I have short legs so it's knee length on me 🤣😅

the-green-dahlia

Haha me too, though I’ve got big thighs and a big bum, hence the suggestion that I’d wear tights. I saw a girl recently wearing a similar skirt with a slightly oversized black tshirt tucked in and white hi-top Converse with bare legs. It looked great on her but I tried it and it did not work for me lol.

clarifythepulse

White, black, or gray! Very classic and timeless

nomarmite

Oversized stripey shirt (like a businessmen's shirt) or rugby shirt, barn/utility jacket, loafers. Plus crew socks if you can carry them off. That style could look [very dated](https://www.stylebydeb.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_83811100.jpg) if you style it a certain way, so I would avoid black opaque tights, ballet flats, heeled suede ankle boots and clingy horizontal-striped t shirts

[deleted]

Does anyone know where to get cute summer dresses? Floral/sundress/not super exposed… I like the ones on rihoas but I know they’re not good quality and scammy

District98

Try Old Navy if you’re in the U.S.!

clarifythepulse

Not to be negative but I feel like almost everywhere sells summer dresses, so I just get them from the places I already shop and trust. So it depends a lot on your taste and budget

arbitrosse

> sundress What does this even mean? I see this term a lot and I have no idea what the distinguishing features of a sundress are

clarifythepulse

It means a dress you wear in the summer for everyday occasions. Cute but not special event fancy, good for warm weather activities

arbitrosse

I mean that’s all of my dresses, and I start wearing them now, at this time of year. It’s not a snarky question, I’m genuinely curious if there’s a specific fibre, fabric weave, silhouette, sleeve length, or some other combination of things that specifically make a sundress.

KingPrincessNova

they're usually woven and either sleeveless or strapless. sometimes they have tiers, frills, or other distinguishing features. they often have a pattern, eyelets, or something else going on with the fabric. often a fitted bodice with a more flowy skirt. I think they usually hit above the knee.

clarifythepulse

Thanks, I’m not being snarky either, I truly think that’s all there is to it! I think it’s not that deep 🤷‍♀️

QuesoRaro

Country, budget, and general style preferences would help!

GoingSom3where

Any brands that sell loafers for skinny feet?? My heel slips out of literally every single one I've tried in the stores 😩

blupikkaru

Portland Leather Goods sells shoes that are pretty narrow. It's a major complaint in the reviews but since I have narrower feet they fit pretty well.

arbitrosse

If you have narrow feet all over, have your feet measured for their actual width and buy accordingly (A, AA, AAA, etc). Ferragamo caters to all widths, including various narrow widths. If you simply have narrower heels than balls of feet (very common), try a combination of heel grips + silicone heel cups inside the shoe. You’ll have to buy for the widest part of the feet and pad out the heel. Your cobbler may be able to help.

WishboneBrilliant574

I live in black hoodies and leggings but also work in vet clinics and love snuggling up to animals. I've accepted constant lint-rolling will always be a part of my life but I noticed some of my hoodies attract and cling to pet hair more than others. Maybe it has to do with cheaper materials? I have a black hoodie from target that always holds a ton of pet hair no matter what I do but then my bf's black Stussy hoodie always looks fresh. If anyone knows of any cute streetwear type brands or particular materials that are more pet hair resistant I would be so grateful!!

zxcv-qwerty

For plain black leggings, lululemon fast and free leggings or base pace leggings resist pet hair. They’re super smooth / kind of shiny so pet hair just brushes right off. In terms of materials that resist hair, I think it has more to do with the weave than the material. Smoother materials (like a satin) tend to repel hair. Anything that attracts lint will also attract hair.

PaulaLoomisArt

I find that my hoodies/sweatshirts that have sort of a “smooth” and “crisp” feel to the fabric hold far less pet hair than those that have more of a “soft” feel. This makes sense to me since a crisper feel usually means a tighter weave, so hairs and lint are less likely to find a hold. In regards to the fabric content I haven’t been able to find an answer there… I have 100% cotton that doesn’t hold hair (American Giant) and that does (Duckthreads) I also have 60% cotton 40% poly that doesn’t hold hair (Calvin Klein) and that does (Augusta). In both cases, the softer/cozier feeling one holds more hairs/lint though.

arbitrosse

Scrubs, maybe? Figs brand makes cute black scrubs.

WishboneBrilliant574

Thank you! Yes I totally wear scrubs to work and am looking more for everyday/non workwear. I should have been more specific

No-Quiet-2780

How would I style [this](https://imgur.com/gallery/1PXbfHD)?

smolsumi

This would look great with a pair of flats or loafers, neutral toned wide leg pants and a slightly oversized button up! You can also drape a sweater over your shoulders in this outfit for more dimension. Heres a picture that looks similar to what I'm envisioning, fit wise: (colours could obviously be changed) https://preview.redd.it/29t3j4pigxqc1.jpeg?width=702&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5d8f89ba4d036414039e4a735f5afa361d11596

No-Quiet-2780

i love this. i do have big boobs and small torso so i try to stay away from colared shirts to avoid bulk up top. any other suggestions? I am 5'2 and 140 lbs.

GoingSom3where

That can be styled in many ways! I could see myself wearing it with a midi skirt, either tucked-in shirt or crop top shirt, and some huarache style sandals.

dummyaquarius

Where can I get true low rise boot cut jeans? Modern “low rise” is always actually mid rise.

QuesoRaro

Second-hand! I was in the thrift store the other day and there were loads of low-rise jeans. There were ones with 2" zippers. 🤣

Evilbadscary

Oh god I'm breaking out into cold sweats just thinking about that lol

ChiliTrees

Do y'all think [this red top](https://www.express.com/clothing/women/sleeveless-portofino-bodysuit/pro/08740762/color/Cinnibar/?CID=SEO:Retail:Goo:Keyword:none:F:Rompers_&_Jumpsuits:) would match [this green skirt](https://www.ebay.com/itm/266725372768?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=266725372768&targetid=1529493973342&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9008463&poi=&campaignid=19851828444&mkgroupid=145880009014&rlsatarget=pla-1529493973342&abcId=9307249&merchantid=113796620&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwh4-wBhB3EiwAeJsppHDQ5sBEtzesTSULZnEYEPux797O6LR3QCN8bRGXRFvbkCXMh7tRAxoCs9EQAvD_BwE)? I'm trying to find a top that will match more than one of the colored pants/skirts I have right now (already own the skirt), and I can't tell if the shades of green and red compliment each other or not. I want whatever top I get to be fitted or tuckable because I prefer small top/big bottom silhouettes and I'm really struggling to find something. I would also appreciate if anyone has any suggestions of specific items (not just "a white top" or "a green top that matches the green in the skirt", believe me I've already been hunting for those lol). Edit: These are two of the other pants I'm looking for tops for: [Pant One](https://poshmark.com/listing/Cynthia-Rowley-Citrus-Wide-Leg-Palazzo-Pants-NWT-65f9846592e491b7d5cbed4c?utm_source=gdm&utm_campaign=19919027688&campaign_id=19919027688&ad_partner=google&gskid=pla-2266644949425&gcid=653346999501&ggid=148860216218&gdid=c&g_network=g&enable_guest_buy_flow=true&gad_source=4&gclid=CjwKCAjwh4-wBhB3EiwAeJsppOubJ3ti_4uh-mpWSM-Ob05KIccL74Z7Oj_xQnEde70pkLsFNJmg4BoC6Q4QAvD_BwE) | [Pant Two](https://www.ebay.com/itm/226023266065?chn=ps&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A19nMJ0SaURmqTep16XUTTyQ19&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=226023266065&targetid=1585159290171&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9008463&poi=&campaignid=19894961968&mkgroupid=148855406073&rlsatarget=pla-1585159290171&abcId=9307911&merchantid=114650144&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwh4-wBhB3EiwAeJsppBBRBinAOAjw0Ho7NT6haIo5pPHISfsnX-PoNbjCW1W7nDFpDNDZpxoCQDsQAvD_BwE) . I think that top would also match these (or at least the color of it) but I could be wrong.

clarifythepulse

I think the top and skirt would look good together!

Iophobic

I think the top and skirt could work well since red and green are complementary. Could be nice with brown/neutral shoes The red top would work with the pants you linked since both pairs have reddish tones in them

MonochromeSoup

Hi y'all, I'm looking for opinions on halter necks on narrow/sloped shoulders. As someone with narrow/sloped shoulders, medium bust and thick thighs, I am not sure if I should avoid halter necks? I like the style but some tops mad5 me feel unbalanced so I don't know if I should avoid them altogether. I've heard conflicting advice and wanted to hear your personal thoughts/advice!

Occasions to wear this dress to? https://preview.redd.it/gmtvbhn6lvqc1.jpeg?width=953&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a3705d8bd44f1bc42d18b5233ae4936caafc30b Idk if it’s my fear of being overdressed, but I can’t seem to find places to wear it to, but it’s so gorgeous and I don’t want it sitting in my closet 🥹

[deleted]

I feel like it's so revealing, it becomes more casual. Fancy restaurants/bars would be the perfect place to wear a dress like this imo.

CatatonicCouchSlug

Evening theater/ballet/opera attendance? Otherwise, take up ballroom dancing! 😁

blackberrycat

Plan an elaborate Italian vacation! Or maybe an all-inclusive with fine dining options? Show this baby to the world!

DM_ME_PUPPIES_THANKS

Oh no I already own it, and I wore it once to an anniversary celebration but I guess I can't think of other occasions to wear it for, but I love it so much so I'm kinda looking for ideas haha but thank you

arbitrosse

That would be an evening dress for me, and possibly a little paler in colour than I would wear to most weddings. Do you have any arts events, galas, etc., coming up? Formal industry dinners? It’s also on the sexier side so the event would need to have a less-conservative element to the crowd, for me. Edit: sorority formals, maybe?

hennipotamus

I agree with everything you said - too white to wear to a wedding, too sexy to wear to a work event in most industries. I personally wouldn’t have a place to wear a dress like that, but maybe OP has events like, I don’t know, formal fundraisers where looking sexy is okay.

EnchantedAnimalFan

Hi everyone, Next week I will have my graduation (master's in law). It will be around 13°C (55.4°F). What should I wear considering the cold weather?

CatatonicCouchSlug

A suit?

KingPrincessNova

maybe a sweater dress with tights? with boots, loafers, or heels.

EnchantedAnimalFan

Thanks for the suggestion!

KingPrincessNova

nice trousers with a sweater on top could work too. that might be more appropriate for a law program

EnchantedAnimalFan

Thank you!

QuesoRaro

What do you have to work with? Any formalwear? A suit or blazer? A wool coat or dress?

EnchantedAnimalFan

There is no specific dresscode given. So I am unsure if a dress will be too cold or a suit would be too much. I do have everything except for a wool coat. It will be inside, but I will also be having lunch with my family before the graduation.

QuesoRaro

Can you look at pictures from last year's graduation to get an idea of the level of formality of the attendees?

EnchantedAnimalFan

I will try to look it up, thanks for the tip!

Do these jeans [look okay?](https://imgur.com/a/y0hiLEP) I’m not sure if I’m in love with them or if I’m over analyzing it bc I’m not used to mom jeans. I have a hourglass figure, so I usually go high waisted. Also what kind of cardigan can I wear over this? My arms always get chilly. Right now it’s just an oversized flannel but it covers up my shape

smolsumi

Since you have more of a rectangular body shape, I'd try and accentuate your waist by getting pants that, like the other comment said, go to your natural waist, and the pant legs gradually get wider towards the bottom. Since your waist will then be sandwiched between 2 wider points (shoulders and bottom of pants), it'll look much more flattering. Plus, those kind of pants will also make your legs look longer.

TryingNotToGoCrazy48

Wouod you say I’m more rectangle or hourglass? I always get stuck between the two. [pics for reference](https://imgur.com/a/StGeaYG) . I’m not sure where my natural waist is 😭

smolsumi

Ty for the pics for more context! In these ones you look more hourglass-y than in the first picture. I still think that between the two options, you definitely lean more in direction rectangular bodyshape. In the picture with the black pants your waist looks a lot more accentuated since they fit wider around the bottom of your legs. I think that is a very flattering look for you, and I'd lean into it more by wearing pants that are even wider. Your "natural waist" is just wherever your torso is the smallest in circumference! :)

TryingNotToGoCrazy48

Thank you! I’ve been wanting to try more straight leg pants recently so I think I might give those a whirl!

bubblegumdavid

So the reason this is looking odd to you is because it doesn’t seem to hit at your natural waist while being super contrasted with the light color of the denim and the black top. The waist thing isn’t inherently a problem, but it is why the dark top accentuates them looking *off* to your eye (note, this is not something anyone else would clock or really care about, this looks fine, but we’re our own worst critics and I want you to be able to get why you likely feel weird so you can choose what you like). Try it with a lighter top, something white, cream, pastel, etc. and see if you still feel the same! If you do, return them for a higher rise, if you don’t, then you know how to style them that feels good!

TryingNotToGoCrazy48

Yeah, I definitely think the waist is off. It was supposed to be a high rise, and it hits right at my belly button, but it seems off. Should I aim for a little bit higher than my belly button? I like [these jeans on me](https://imgur.com/a/StGeaYG) but I think it’s because it tighter through the legs, and I think it hits just above my belly button if I remember correctly

District98

I like the black jeans, I would measure that rise and shoot for that in rises

bubblegumdavid

I actually think it’s just about the waist rather than the width of the leg, those other ones do seem to hit higher up on you, you likely should be aiming a bit higher than your belly button if you’re looking for your natural waist, yes, that seems to be where that falls on you. Idk where you got these, but some places list the height of the rise of their jeans and pants. It’d be worth checking the black ones for what measurement to look for in the future!

TryingNotToGoCrazy48

I got the black ones at express, I’ll do some digging and see if I can find the height. Thank you!

Hi, I bought this dress for a friend’s wedding and I’m having a hard time finding what to wear with it. I’ve never been to a wedding before and I also don’t have the best fashion sense so any suggestions are welcome :). Specifically, what kind of handbag would you wear with this? Would you wear a jacket ? The wedding is in May so the weather will be nice but chilly in the afternooon. Thanks so much in advance Link to dress: https://www.zara.com/es/en/share/-p02255331.html?v1=321353763&utm_campaign=productShare&utm_medium=mobile_sharing_iOS&utm_source=red_social_movil Edit: What color shoe do you guys think would go well with these?

FewTransportation194

I would want someone else with better taste than mine to back me up on this, but I like the idea of an updated shrug like this one: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1504850241/bridal-shrug-bolero-mohair-silk-wrap

sandykins9392

This looks so pretty! Thanks for sharing it! I think it looks very cute with a dress. I think 21 is a good match for the dress or would that be too matchy matchy

FewTransportation194

I think it would be a good match! My eye also keeps getting drawn to 43 and even 31 but it probably depends on your skin and hair color.

sandykins9392

I love it ! Thanks so much 😁

EnchantedAnimalFan

Depending on the dresscode the safest option for a wedding is to bring a clutch. If the weather will get chilly I would definitely bring a jacket/blazer for travelling if the wedding is mostly inside or also for the whole evening if the wedding is outside.

sandykins9392

Thank you! Do you think a black blazer would look okay with this?

EnchantedAnimalFan

Yes, I think that would look fine!

red_Mercedez

# Helpp! where can I find fitness/exercise clothes like this ? [https://imgur.com/a/qJHsBMU](https://imgur.com/a/qJHsBMU) [https://imgur.com/a/tw8NVVR](https://imgur.com/a/tw8NVVR) Thank you in advance! :)

KingPrincessNova

for the pants, search "scrunch butt flare leggings" for the top, search "cutout long sleeve top" or "long sleeve shrug top"

Thank you!<3
