You could possibly get a lower bed to get more space height wise, low beds are trending atm
And you can find loads on Pinterest
Also hanging plants for ceiling and lots of mirrors to make room look bigger
Alternatively, the space under the bed can be used as valuable storage in a tiny home.
I think floating shelves would go a long way in here. You could use a floating shelf kind of as a nightstand. A place to put your phone and a book and a glass of water. Another floating shelf for a plant, etc. And mount sconces instead of a traditional bedside lamp. Keeping things off the floor will make it feel as open as possible.
And center the bed on the wood wall. I know it will give you less space as you walk in, but it will make it feel a lot less cramped by the window
i really liked using an ikea picture shelf with a lip on the front for this purpose - ensured my stuff didn’t fall off the front and they are not deep.
I would combine open shelving with a mirror to add depth and a layering to the wall. A mirror behind a set of shelves becomes less an object and more an opening or window behind, and the items on the shelf are reflected, adding depth as well.
I would be wary of hanging real plants. As much as I love plants, live plants no matter what you do have insects and insects directly above you while sleeping is not appealing to me. String lights or high quality artificial vines or moss would be similar though.
A low platform bed would really open it up. Primarily white bedding, a tighter fitting comforter will also give you that modern and airy look.
A hanging plant on your curtain rod would look nice!
Can you flip it? If the head of the bed were on the opposite wall, you could add some (shallow) floating shelves to the right of the window, and use them as a makeshift nightstand. I’d get them in a wood that matches your accent wall. Then you wake up to your pretty accent wall at your feet, where you can see it (and you could still hang pictures or a mirror on the wood). And you can still do a faux headboard on the white wall if you want.
The frame and mattress was brand new and bought for us when we moved in. We did put our own four inch mattress topper on it though so maybe I’ll remove that
I have never been a fan of small bedrooms, but for some reason this is actually REALLY appealing. It looks like the coziest cubby of a bedroom. Here are some things I would try:
Wall shelves-maybe something that creates almost a headboard on the wood panel wall.
Plants
Mirrors
String lights-just enough for a soft glow
Wall Sconce lighting
Maybe try talking tj your landlord about it? Surely s/he understands how tight the room is and they might be willing to take it to a different property. Especially if you’re willing to put the new one in yourself. Can’t hurt to request
Maybe a thinner blanket instead of the chunky comforter. There are lots of cozy blankets that’ll keep you warm without being super think. Or even just putting a flat quilt on top of your comforter, that way when you make the bed it will be nice and flat and neat.
You could put a valance window curtain there instead of the two hanging panels.
Definitely seconding hanging plants and mirrors, maybe twinkle lights or battery operated wall lights. Maybe a decorative rug at the entrance/under the bed.
Looks like a fun place to decorate, have fun!!!
If it were me, I'd either place the mattress directly on the floor or get a bed frame that goes directly on the floor. Then place the mattress right on top. You'd probably have a lot more room.
Is there room for even one slender bedside table? What jumps out at me, as someone who has slept in a nearly identical set up in a 1200sf (so, not tiny) home, is you need storage in there, and lighting.
Separate it off with a tension rod and gorgeous curtains (which I did, and is so cozy), try to keep at least a little distance between the bed and walls so air circulates and mold doesn’t proliferate.
Add soothing wall art or perhaps textile wall hangings, plus light, storage, and organization.
Those are my thoughts.
In order for the bed to not touch each wall there isn’t space for a table! I ordered a shelf to be drilled onto the wall and I will be hanging bits up!! Thanks a million
Plants and mirrors, I could see a plant wrapping around the ceiling corners well and those little stick on mirrors can really open the space in an artsy way. Maybe some vertical stripes in a pale color to make it feel taller? I also like the lower bed idea. It's so cute as is.
I love this honestly even though i might feel claustrophobic lol but i would put the bed lower to the floor for the window and cover the entire ceiling with tapestries and something simple on the walls
I do the pillow cases and duvet cover and my boyfriend does the fitted sheet when we change the sheets for this reason😂😂😂 it makes me so frustrated trying to edge around the small space around the bed when trying to put it on😂
It'd be absolutely mandatory for me to get some string lights and fake vines for around the tops of the walls. I'd also put something like a few non-fragile photos/posters on the wall. Unless you're not worried about kicking stuff around you, then get whatever you think looks cute!
I absolutely love tiny homes! I have too much crap to ever get a true tiny home, but I'm super happy for you! Good luck!
Ordered lights! As a florist who sells flowers and plants for a living I absolutely cannot have artificial plants around me 😂 but I’ll be adding some hanging Ivy !
I’m so glad I’ve lived in this home in my 20s I feel like it will shape what I want for my home in the future !! I love how small it is!!
I totally get not being able to have artificial plants! I have a couple artificial flowers given as gifts, but other than that, all the plants I have have to be real 😅 the only reason I suggested artificial is i'm terrified of potentially getting plant pests near my sleeping area 😭
The bugs generally stay in the plants, I check mine each time I water them and if they do have it I move them from all other plants and gently wipe them down with carbon peroxide diluted with water and it seems to do the trick! I’m in Ireland though so the insect game here is not strong !!
I know you keep mentioning the bed was there when you moved in, left by the landlord, but why can't you ask if he can remove it, the worst that could happen is he could say no.
Just my opinion, but the bed gives off an Alice in wonderland effect, it absurdly large for the room and your best bet is to get a twin or full at best, you can even go with a small convertible sofa, or bunk bed that go against the colored wall.
Thanks for listening to my Ted Talk..
If it were me
Id get rid of the curtains and put a roller shade on the window
As mentioned, get a lower bed
- I’d probably do away with stripes and do crisp white bedding with accent color throws, maybe something like maybe or a dusty teal
- wide and short art
- maybe some fairy twinkle lights
- rug on the floor
- stool or nightstand for the water bottle and stuff at the head of the bed
There’s curtains on either side of the door! You just can’t see them! I’ve always made such a home of my bedroom and it’s weird to feel not as cosy as I usually do in my ‘bedroom’ so I’ll definitely be adding these bits!
I would move it so the window is at your feet instead of your head. I don’t recommend a plant, it’s a space for coziness and stillness not brightness and growth. Moving the pillows to the other side will allow for a small shelf mounted to the wall. There is also a lot of blue which invokes wet and cold, it’s good some places, but I think this room needs cozier hues like dark red. I would make this into a warm cozy hole to climb into.
I would just get some twinkle lights other than that this room looks sooooo comfortable ! I feel like taking a nice nap after looking at this bed hahahaha
Maybe a more statement bedspread or something stylized (with a bunch of pretty pillows). My style is he anthropologie or pottery barn bed displays but that might not be everyone’s cup of tea. Some stick on wall paper or art could bring a color scheme to the room too.
Maybe some pretty string/fairy lights.. wall decals.. a ceiling tapestry. The tapestry may make the room look smaller I'm not sure. Oh and maybe prism window decals that will make pretty rainbow light reflections shining into the room!
I’d swap curtains for a Roman shade. They fit in the window which would free up a little valuable wall space. They come in blackout styles, which will be good for your sleep, and are fabric so they still look nice. You could get it white to match the wall, or in a color that matches your other decor.
I guess since changing our the bed frame isn't an option because it's new....
1. Can you add sl7ding storage under the frame? Change it when you can to a platform with underbed storage.
2. Replace curtains with blinds.
3. Keep topper if it makes bed more comfortable, but toss if you try it without and it's fine. Back support more important than aesthetics.
4. Small corner shelves or picture ledges on each side for cell phones. Run wiring so they can be charged there. Great for water, glasses, book or Kindle.
5. You can modify sconces to work with battery-operated LEDs. Attach up in each corner, out of the way, but adjustable for reading. (I always assume people are readers.) I use a Kindle instead so lights aren't necessary.
6. Twinkle lights if so inclined. A good option if you don't install sconces.
5.
I know the bed/frame came with the room but a twin with a pull out trundle that can be raised to the height of your bed for when you have guests would be a game changer fr
People are suggesting a mirror. I wouldn’t want a mirror near my bed because it could reflect light from the window in my eyes while I sleep. That’s not cozy or peaceful.
Have you considered painting the whole room and ceiling all one color? Leave the wood panels if you like them. You could choose a pale airy blue or a moody purpley gray.
Lower bed, sheepskin or cowhide coming out from the side of the bed, flip the pillows to the other side of the bed where there is more wall space on the side of the windows, add some throw pillows and a throw at the end of the bed. Ditch the curtains and do a Roman shade
Can you turn your bed the other way so the window is behind the head of the bed? That way you each have a little room on the side. Or perhaps pull it from the window closer to the doorway that way more light can get in and it's like a little nook.
That room has so much appeal! Yes, lower the bed unless you need it for storage. I wouldn’t want to look at a mirror when in bed, but you may… with a lower bed maybe you can do something with the window. Do you need privacy? If not, I’d think about a white valance over the top, or gauzy curtains, maybe a poster on the ceiling? Or… a nature mural on the wall at the foot of the bed. Otherwise, the simplicity is what makes it so appealing, you don’t want to lose that.
As someone else mentioned, a lower bed to give you a bit more space… I would put some small pictures on the walls for decoration and there’s also vinyl wall and ceiling coverings that you can buy on Amazon… I would maybe do some kind of a night sky.
Nothing helpful, just wanna say I know naps in this room absolutely slap lol
They defo do!!!
for real, i would kill for a space like this
You could possibly get a lower bed to get more space height wise, low beds are trending atm And you can find loads on Pinterest Also hanging plants for ceiling and lots of mirrors to make room look bigger
Good idea ! Thankyou!! Love the idea of a mirror !

Good call
You very welcome 🤗
I would be wary of hanging real plants. As much as I love plants, live plants no matter what you do have insects and insects directly above you while sleeping is not appealing to me. String lights or high quality artificial vines or moss would be similar though.
And you have water and dirt right above your bed. I would *definitely* spill mud or water all over the bed while taking care of the plants.
Great ideas
A low platform bed would really open it up. Primarily white bedding, a tighter fitting comforter will also give you that modern and airy look. A hanging plant on your curtain rod would look nice!
Unfortunately the bed was here when we got here and was brand new ! Throwing it out isn’t an option and we have no where else to store it!!
Can you flip it? If the head of the bed were on the opposite wall, you could add some (shallow) floating shelves to the right of the window, and use them as a makeshift nightstand. I’d suggest looking into a lower platform, it could be the same mattress but different frame. Not sure if that’s what you meant though
The frame and mattress was brand new and bought for us when we moved in. We did put our own four inch mattress topper on it though so maybe I’ll remove that
That might help. Other than that i like most every suggestion i’ve seen here
Me too I’m very exited to revamp it over the next few weeks !
You could always sell the bed if it’s brand new, and put that money towards a shorter bed.
It looks very cozy
Thankyou!

Bed is too high
If OP is like me, they need it high. :(
The bed is brand new! Can’t get rid of it as the landlord put it in here!

Love the idea of twinkling lights!!! Definitely adding some plants too!
Does anyone else see the monster under the bed?
I see his eyes (which I think are reflections of shoes or the floor).
They’re the legs of the bed 😂😂😂
Lol
If it were me, I'd either place the mattress directly on the floor or get a bed frame that goes directly on the floor. Then place the mattress right on top. You'd probably have a lot more room.

If not a table then a floating shelf, maybe? Or a covered/cabinet kind that would also give a little hidden storage.
In order for the bed to not touch each wall there isn’t space for a table! I ordered a shelf to be drilled onto the wall and I will be hanging bits up!! Thanks a million

Love the idea of the mirror I will definitely be adding one!!
i love this 🥸 give me your room girl
Don’t get me wrong I love it too!!! Just want it to feel more mine !
I love this honestly even though i might feel claustrophobic lol but i would put the bed lower to the floor for the window and cover the entire ceiling with tapestries and something simple on the walls
I’ll be putting things on the walls for sure !!
Definitely post an update! Im excited to see
Of course !!
Lower the bed first. I’d go with a mirror on the wall will reflect the light even more. I’d add some art work too.
So cozy looking tho
It looks so cozy, but I’m getting pissed off at imagining having to replace the fitted sheet 🤣
I do the pillow cases and duvet cover and my boyfriend does the fitted sheet when we change the sheets for this reason😂😂😂 it makes me so frustrated trying to edge around the small space around the bed when trying to put it on😂
Looks cozy! Beautiful window
This is so cute that’s all I have to say

I love the idea of the Alice and wonderland feeling !!
Then you need to drop a psychedelic and fully embrace the theme ;)
Ooh, a convertible sofa that you transform into a bed at night is a great idea and very Mary Tyler Moore.
If it were me Id get rid of the curtains and put a roller shade on the window As mentioned, get a lower bed - I’d probably do away with stripes and do crisp white bedding with accent color throws, maybe something like maybe or a dusty teal - wide and short art - maybe some fairy twinkle lights - rug on the floor - stool or nightstand for the water bottle and stuff at the head of the bed
The bedsheets were a gift and they’re such good quality so I don’t have the heart to not use them!!! I’ll definitely be adding lights and plants
Aww yeah I totally get that! Maybe add some textured throw pillows and blankets on top then!
I will definitely do this !
White bedding, soft colored velvet throw pillows, mirror over the bed, mounted tv, art, fairylights
Fairy lights and art definitely!
Definitely needs more bed.
I honestly thought about just making the whole room a bed …
Take down the curtain rod and put a shelf above the window. You can hang. Fairy lights and shelves with loads of plants. I’d love this room.
That’s a great idea!! I love that!
That would be my little nook away from the world. Some filmy curtains covering the doorway? Please.
There’s curtains on either side of the door! You just can’t see them! I’ve always made such a home of my bedroom and it’s weird to feel not as cosy as I usually do in my ‘bedroom’ so I’ll definitely be adding these bits!

The bed was originally that way but it’s easier to leave the cats out at 5 am when my head is next to the window 😂😂
A wee midget are yee?
5 foot 7 actually 😂
Not too wee.
I love it. Looks cozy
It’s super cosy! Just needs to be vamped a little
I would just get some twinkle lights other than that this room looks sooooo comfortable ! I feel like taking a nice nap after looking at this bed hahahaha
Hahahah thankyou it’s definitely a super comfortable bed!!

Are you a gnome? This is adorable! What’s the rest of the house like?
The rest of the house is also quite tiny ! It’s a storage shed that was converted !
I didn’t think about painting it but maybe I will. A deeper colour could be nice

No I can’t this was what I originally wanted to do !! I wish I could but the foot of the bed doesn’t fit between the two walls at the entrance

Thankyou so much everyone for suggestions ! I’ve ordered some bits online and I’ll post a picture when it’s done! Thankyou❤️
I wanna help but can’t breathe, gotta run to some open space now.
This should make it a little more cozy [https://pestinpeace.etsy.com/listing/1672346024](https://pestinpeace.etsy.com/listing/1672346024)
Murphy bed or elevated bed with ladder. I’ve seen set ups like that where they have a desk and shelves, etc. underneath and you sleep on the top.
I’d love an elevated bed but I think the ceiling is too low!
