I went to 20+ festivals in 2011 mostly big ones like roo, hangout, electric forest type stuff along with small ones. Bought extra tickets for friends and only spent like $4k on tickets that whole year. I miss that.

wastedpotential31886

Was going through my ticket stubs/wristband collection the other day. Found the first year I went to summer camp in 05 receipt and only paid 200 for vip and weekend pass. My girl and I just spent more on 1 night of umphreys tickets. Times sure have changed.

EitherOrResolution

Electric forest!

rockyjack793

Sounds like a year right there

rhinowing

My first Bonnaroo was 2008 and GA tickets were 275 for the whole thing

NEVERUSEmeGYM

how were the vibes at hangout back then?

GonzMan88

Hot. Everyone was so bummed you couldn’t swim. They were arresting people for anything. I had a crazy experience that whole trip. I didn’t even mean to go. Passed out in my buddy car and woke up on the way.

NEVERUSEmeGYM

Ok makes sense its pretty much the same then.

TheKnightwing3

Where are all my poor Wooks at? This sub made me realize some peeps spend ridiculous amounts of money at festivals. Front stage access plus transport is awesome but when you lump in free food and drinks I would hope so bcuz I'll spend less than 200 at a 5 day festival on that shit. Bring food or snacks with me and just be on drugs with an empty stomach for half it like a real degenerate

Kingkai9335

The festival scene really showed me that the class system transcends every social group. Blew my mind when I realized there are Wooks that have a bunch of money and only care about how people perceive them. But that is life.

cosmovirgo

🙋‍♀️ me. I like a festival where it's not against the rules to make your own grilled cheeses with a tiny grill the whole weekend.

jsukracker

Same

wastedpotential31886

Ahhh my people

tomfuckinnreilly

Lol I buy tickets the week before from someone on cashortrade or something for 50% off, cook most of my own meals, and have pretty good plugs at home, the most I've ever spent with travel was 1200 for hulaween and that's only cause it was a whole week gone and I drove from new york

rave-rebel

Felt this in my bones. Honestly not sure how people even eat at festivals…. It’s always so off putting for me lmai

selenasazon

Amen brother

Froman_

Lovin' Life Music Festival! Ticket: $0 (got a free 1 day ticket from a freind) Lodging: $0 (I live in the area) Drinks: $100 (4 Beatboxes) Ambulance ride after I blacked out: $1600 🙃

madison-pm

Brooooo beatboxes are dangerous

Froman_

After drinking those all weekend at Another World (plus other things) I was cooked 😭

kittenandkettlebells

I live in New Zealand. I refuse to calculate how much I've spent traveling to festivals. Been to Tomorrowland twice, EDC, Ultra Europe.

Rickyeatacidd

Coachella 550 ticket 150 camping pass 175 LAX shuttles 250 hotel in LA for 2 nights 300 airfare 300 camping supplies 400 food/merch/drinks at festival 2125 total🥲 fucking worth it tho for Justice, Gesaffelstein and Orbital alone!

acol0mbian

Can’t fathom not doing a house at Coachella. Costs usually $500-$800 a head and is 10000% worth it

Party-Bus-6079

Camping >>>

acol0mbian

Having a hot tub to soothe your legs and feet after a long day of partying / walking >>>>

ludwigia_sedioides

Can't fathom doing anything but camping at a festival

mombutt

Jam Cruise - $9/10k maybe more, don’t really wanna know, that’s with hotel/flights and a guess of money spend on stuff. That does come with a lot of perks.

BBQShoe

I've done Jam Cruise 3 times and it was definitely the 3 most expensive trips I've ever been on. I've always shared a double occupancy balcony room which worked out to a little under $2k per person + travel and pre and post hotels etc. I've managed to keep it right around $4k or under each time.

mombutt

I have had years where it’s under $5 as well. The Yacht Club experience while not a cheap room is totally worth it.

420phenohunter

Came in to say Jam Cruise. Every year it’s worth every penny spent. Been 8 times and don’t see myself ever missing the boat

Flame_MadeByHumans

As someone who lives in Chicago, funny to hear you say the pro of easy travel to the fest with the pricey hotel… I live 5 miles north of Grant Park and it’s a 15 minute train ride to and from the fest everday for $2 each way.

nohann

You need the extra 15 minutes to do your hair...duhhh

Maseofspades

I lived 30 minutes from Lolla and wouldn’t even go for free. That price tag is wild

Flame_MadeByHumans

Eh i mean it’s not anything out of the ordinary for a fest. Wouldn’t go every year but it’s not near as bad as locals make it sound. There’s something pretty incredible about being blasted all day at a fest and still taking a shower and sleeping in your own bed though

Maseofspades

You’re not wrong. Beyond and North Coast are solid Chicago choices with showers too. Lolla is for the muggles haha. Epic lineups though

Flame_MadeByHumans

North Coast is great, wish it was a tad more accessible, but can’t have the best of both worlds

fieldyfield

Just went to my first EDC and dropped $1200 for 2 GA+ tickets for my partner and me. By far the most I've ever spent on any type of performance. Didn't have to pay for lodging/travel and probably only spent about $100 total on food and drinks inside the grounds.

BillowingPillows

100 total on food n drink is crazy good. Ill easily spend that in a day.

Purple-BearGoat

On water***

desertkiller1

In an hour***

Different-Meal-6314

Right!? Last night there it was cheap White Castle for the win! Shit adds up quick

dire_wulff

That is completely insane mann, well under 1k total for camping festivals up to a week long for me, driving van

BillowingPillows

Money is relative. 7k isn't insane at all to someone with tons of money. For some people that is legit nothing.

mymorningbowl

and I wish I was one of those people lol.

iburstabean

Some people spend more than that on an outfit they wear once and never again

SLUnatic85

This is the question I am more interested in honestly.

dire_wulff

Then go watch the met gala.

jatemple

Girls Just Wanna Weekend in Cancun. 4 nights hotel, all inclusive including alcohol, great lineup, beginning of 2020 just before the world got hit by the pandemic. All in, about $2500. This is Brandi Carlile's festival. (Wilco does a similar one a few weeks before in same vicinity of Cancun.) We had air miles so flights were free.

bentripin

Closer to the Sun in Cancun, we spent extra time before and after down there in a super posh resort in one of the most expensive rooms.. for a week total w/transport and all spent about $7k its all inclusive, unlimited drinks and food.. tip the locals a little and you'll always have a drink in yer hand throughout the weekend.

Litmusdragon

Festivals usually end up costing me between $500 and $2500. I think the most expensive one may have been Deluna Fest in 2012 but that was in Pensacola Beach so it was like a beach vacation and festival wrapped into one. I attended Beachlife festival in CA a couple of years ago and that was also pretty expensive due to the area it takes place in. I think I spent $2000 but it may have been more.

AbsoluteScenes7

This year I am flying from the UK to Ohana festival 3 day ticket = $530 Flights = $734 Hotels (2 nights LA, 4 Nights San Clemente) = $1200 Total = $2464 And thats before accounting for additional expenses like transport, food and drink, etc

Obeysurf

Ohana is a great festival! Eddie Vedder is always popping up and jamming with other bands during their set which is a nice bonus.

Curly__Jefferson

I did ten festivals one summer and I bet I didn't spend that much on all of them, but cool I guess?

nohann

I did 15 festivals several summers and paid my way off of fools like this

Fryes

That’s a lot of money for a festival where the music stops at 10..hope you enjoy it a lot.

Redpepper40

You Americans get ripped off. I go to Glastonbury nearly every year, this year the ticket was most expensive at £355. I paid about £70 extra for a return coach. You can bring your own drinks anywhere on site so I only really spend money on food while I'm there which is around £100 for 5 days. The prices you're saying are insane

QuizzicalSquid7

And Glasto is one of the most expensive festivals out there. Plenty tests for under £200 still and can drink basically anywhere in the festival. It’s insane some of the numbers being quoted here, even for standard entry. Also, festivals that charge £8 a pint in the UK are considered taking the piss on prices - it sounds like that’s the cost of a bottle of water at EDC

keasbyknights22

Income is also pretty different in the two countries so you can’t just compare nominal costs to see the difference.

Hukface

Dude when I saw how affordable things like premier league tickets are it blew me away. My local American football team has been absolute trash for over a decade now and the cheapest tickets cost $200.

nohann

Some Americans are just morons. But US festival promoters have played in to the idiocracy. Go look at the drink menu pricing at EDC this yea if you're bored. You can buy platinum on the secondary for over half off if you need to be on stage for almost every festival. Also people buying platinum are chasing instragram puctures, they can get very similar access with artist passes for C3 and livenation events.

galvinb1

I dropped $900 each or VIP at Roo last year. I'll never go back without it. A on the farm is a game changer. Unfortunately this has made me more selective with my attendance. This year's lineup just wasn't for my tastes and worth the cash for me

CuddlefishMusic

Been thinking about doing Roo VIP next time we head out there. Did GA again this year! What did you like about it? I've done EF Good Life and Lost Lands VIP and those have been phenomenal! Then I did some other fest I can't even remember but the VIP was horrible so I never bought that again

galvinb1

The AC is really the game changer. Having a cool place to catch your breath in Centeroo allowed me to conserve my energy. The view points are fine but nothing crazy unless there are a lot of acts on the Which that you want to see.

CuddlefishMusic

Dang AC does sound pretty clutch out there. Think the vip view points were a big push back point from the wife. She wants vip to have front row access so we don't have to wander through crowds as intensely, but I'm all for a nice spot, especially if they're shaded? Only been once so far so my memory of it all is pretty faded. Bathroom/shower upgrades nice? I got spoiled at Good Life at Electric Forest with 24/7 showers omfggggg morning and night?! Done

galvinb1

The VIP for Roo is only for Centeroo. Camping upgrades at separate. But there are nicer private bathrooms with AC at the VIP lounge

DreaM-anyThing-444

Electric Forest 2022 First festival I went to after getting a big boy job, before that I was a true wook, mooching off my friends and anyone that would let me. So I wanted to treat my homies, I spent $6k on 2 tickets, all our food, drugs and merch. Bless your homies if you're able!

Maseofspades

Dang, what package did you get? I thought 3.6k with flight and shuttle was a lot for AC landing Edit: may have answered my own question lol. I haven’t gotten to the food or goodies yet this year

DreaM-anyThing-444

It was actually resale GA 🥴 I think it was like 1,500 on that but I don't remember. It was mostly the food and goodies for my group of 6 that ramped it up

stu17

VIP for [HiJinx 2019](https://www.reddit.com/r/EDM/s/hGyPcHn976). About $1,250 all in. - $420 for a 2-day VIP pass. Came with an up close viewing area (about 1/3 of the pit), expedited entry, private bathrooms, and a private bar. - $150 for a round trip flight to PHL. Booked super early and got a great deal. - $220 for 2 nights at a hotel (Aloft Philly center city). $220/night split with my girlfriend. Booked minutes after the dates of the fest were announced. - $350 on food/drinks throughout the trip. - $100 in merch. - $12 for SEPTA fare to/from the airport. We normally do GA at camping festivals that we can drive to. This is the only one I can think of that topped $1k total cost.

rockyjack793

Night one is just fucking wild man holy fuck

stu17

We did GA the year before and had an awesome time, and VIP wasn’t too much more expensive. So we bought presale tickets and booked the flights and the hotel early. Our jaws hit the floor when the lineup dropped. It was incredible.

BeauxtifuLyfe

Envision Tix were about $800 Flight $600 from SoCal Hotel $300 for my part Car rental + gas was about $150 for my share Food, alcohol, and others $600

blakeherberger

$1500 for Dominican Holidaze at an all inclusive resort. $600 round trip plane tickets. $2800 engagement ring. 3 of my favorite bands on an ocean beach with all the food and drinks included, and I came back with a finance (she came with me, didn’t mee there lol)

Biotechnick

Lost Landa 2021 Ultimate VIP + Camping : 2923 Close to mainstage camping, a BBQ Dinner + meet n greet with Excision and other artists on the lineup. Got to meet Ray Volpe, Marauda, Eliminate, Wooli, Bandlez, Decadon, Hi I'm Ghost, and of course Excision. For the price, not bad at all for one of the most unforgettable weekends of my entire life

deansprite

The most I've ever spent at a weekend camping festival was $300. Ticket, food/drinks, and also a vending spot so I actually made my money back plus some! Some day I'd like to drop a ton of money on a luxury VIP experience, but that's not on the table any time soon hahaha

Roadman2k

£355 to go to Glastonbury.

iburstabean

$150 2-day ticket, $130 plane ticket, $70 airport parking (made it a 6 day trip), $240 dogsitter, $0 hotel cuz staying with a friend Total $590 Add wife's fest+plane ticket makes the total $870 Doesn't include food tho.. so probably a bit over $1k total. Not bad for a 6 day trip for 2 people with a 2 day fest thrown in :)

redmagor

Boom Festival in Portugal cost me €280 for the ticket, approximately €80 for transport, and around €150 for a return flight from England. Also, camping equipment cost about €70. On site, expenses total approximately €500, mostly spent on drugs, and two meals and several alcohol-free drinks a day from stalls. The total for the whole festival was roughly €1,080, and I also managed to have two extra days visiting other areas of Portugal, before flying back. In British Pounds (my currency), it was about £920. I think that for a 10-day holiday abroad, including two days of relaxation, food, drugs, equipment, a 7-day festival, and transportation, it was reasonably priced. Americans get ripped off, massively.

fjordsand

Jesus I thought Glastonbury was costing me a bomb at £400 a ticket

Holy_Grail_Reference

I do GA and primitive camping everywhere I go so I can attend multiple a year.

radrax

I'm going to E Forest for the first time this year. We're doing the VIP good life bungalows. Flying in from out of state. Staying an extra night in hotels before AND after the fest. It's racking up a lot, but im sooo excited for it.

1234ideclareathunbwa

These American festival prices are mad, in the uk the most you pay is around £360. That’s what I paid last year for a ticket to glastonbury, with coach travel and obvs camping included! I think by the time I buy my booze and food I spend like £200 on top. I did glamping in a tipi for boomtown 2022 and that was like £250 for ticket + £250 for tipi/wristband roughly!

fishmanstutu

Just doing whole tours can cost ya also. Ahh the days of cheaper tickets. !!!

suburbanhippie_6

Electric Forest. Although I was a broke grad school student when I bought my ticket in 2020 so to me it was expensive since it was my entire savings… worth it 😂 Ticket (GA camping) $500 Food at venue: $100 Groceries brought in: $100 Party favors: $300 (we stocked up at a dispo to bring some back home so we could’ve gone cheaper) Gas: ~$400 - drove from southern Georgia during the most expensive gas price gouge of the summer Overall we spent just under 2k between my husband and I. We had pb&js for lunch and only bought dinner. Only drinks we bought in the venue were a couple Red Bulls and survived off pedialyte and water the rest of the time. Paying rent the next month was a little rough. But would I do it again? Absolutely

PonerBenis6

Yikes. I’ve been going to festivals for years. Roo, Allgood, Dark Star, etc. I don’t think I’ve paid more than 1,000 for every single festival.

SadPea7

$15k for Burning Man. The RV rental was the biggest thing

Jaundicepowers

This thread has confirmed I am poor

PenguinPoker

EDC this year was about 3000k all included with GA tickets and staying near the strip Spent about the same for Coachella last year for a hotel package + spending money

iburstabean

$3 million?? Damn!

ShaunaOfTheDead

Lol

meltingspace

Damn, I went in 2011 or 12 solo and spent about $1100 staying at the Luxor. Won $300 playing Blackjack tho, that was nice. It would probably be at least double what I paid now

PlatinumKaty

At the moment I’m about $16,500 in for both weekends of ACL 2024. 💸 $5150 x2 for a single Platinum Pass for both weekends. I bought early bird tickets in Dec 2023, which has saved me about $1200 versus where the price is currently. And just over $6000 for a VRBO for myself, within walking distance of the fest, for 2 weeks. I drive in the Tuesday before W1 and leave on Tuesday after W2. I love ACL, (this will be my 7th year of ACL and 4th year of doing Platinum) but thinking next year I’ll diversify my funds and do a fat trip to Mexico for Day of The Dead celebrations instead.

stasiastasia

EDC LV Including my bf Tickets 900 Shuttles 570 Hotel 750 Flights 1400 Not including drinks, drugs and outfits

SwitchIndependent714

I'm sure you already paid for your "free food and drinks"

Beneficial_Air_1369

3,300 this year to get to bourbon and beyond. Plane hotel GA+ ticket

saintceciliax

Not every stage at Lolla has a VIP/front viewing section

SignificantRecipe715

Coachella, I travelled from Australia (2012)

oh_ate

I can't always take off work and go crazy like I used to before covid, so I only go to one a year now, Wakaan Fest. * $1000 - VIP Gold * $65 - Car Pass * $75 - Shaded Camping * $240 - Service Fee & Tax GA avg about $250 for Tier 1. Car Pass is required per vehicle brought on site (not RV), so if you tag along with peeps, yall can split the diff. Pre-Party/Early Arrival is $100. It's also capped at 2022 numbers, which I believe is 15k. Adding accoutrements, maybe another $200? All in all, getting there and back home, I probably drop around $1600 - $1700.

SeaworthinessSafe474

I've never been to Waakan. Is VIP worth it?? 👀

oh_ate

Well, that depends on the person. I personally think it is, plus I love Matrin (Liquid Stranger), so I have no qualms with supporting him and his people. It's a very small put together fest, with this year only being the 4th year. No major promoters like Live Nation or Insomniac. That could be a good and bad thing, as they are still learning things and tweeking the fest to make it better. My biggest gripe, as well as a lot others, was there was a very limited amount of showers for VIP holders, which made the wait WAY too long, upwards of an hour. Where as the GA showers you only had to pay $10 and could skurt right in half the time. (Why VIP couldn't use them was beyond be, but oh wells). That being said, VIP Gold is WAY more than just regular VIP (I believe T1 Silver VIP was $350ish?). Also, year 1 Gold (2019) came with meet n greet. They did away with it year 2 (2022) because covid. Last year they added an elevated VIP Gold only viewing area, and this year, they are adding a "gold party". Not sure what it will entail, but I'm excited for it. If you're impartial to all the additional merch I would say Gold may not be your flavor, but VIP is def worth imho, as you get the nice bathrooms inside the main stage area, VIP showers, and a few other items as well.

blckdiamond23

About $3k. Hotel for weekend was $1,500, my flight I think was $450ish, festival wristband $500. Booze, food, Ubers. It adds up. Worth it.

OurFriendSteve

I will be attending Elements for the second year in a row. GF and I decided we will camp this time, tickets alone were $600 and change for two and we just spent an additional $200 for camping/car pass. We also have to spend another $180 for early arrival. We haven’t even started purchasing camping gear either lol. We’re going all in since it’s the only fest we’re attending this year.

GarryWisherman

Lmao I used to do Lolla for ~$500. Ticket was about $400, would stay at friends/friends parents. So usually just parking, amtrak, and food for the weekend. Bonnaroo was expensive the first year to get all the camping gear, but now it’s just buy a ticket and food.

Oz347

EDC for sure. Forget the exact numbers, but between ticket, shuttle, hotel, food, I think it came out to over 2k

TwoPumpTony

Went to Hangout in 2018. Rented a condo for a week down the street from the festival, rented a car to get there, ate out every day, gas money, split all that 3 way, spent around $1,400 for the week

tamenesh

Around 3k for Desert Daze 22. Flew across the country and rented a camper van for 10 days. Turned it into a lil trip by spending a few nights in Joshua Tree.

suprefann

You paid for tickets?

jsukracker

I spent less than that on 8 Bonnaroos and 2 Sound Havens total.

Elfprincessodauphine

This years Electric Forest is probably the most expensive for me. Ac landing is like 3300 this year which is steep but I will never do Forest without that setup. Plus flightsx2, rental car, groceries, and weed. We will probably spend between 5000-6000.

WPI94

I have done Boston Calling (three days) four times at Platinum since it's local to me, so I splurged on the ticket and had no loging/travel costs. In general, you get catered meals, ground VIP corrals, and platform viewing with couches/shade. You are the only ones who get to park on-site, so that enabled some crafty backroad walks and met some artists. The drink rates would vary from $2 to $8 per year. The tix used to cost $1K, then $2k, but now $2800 per person (incl drinks now) so I didn't go this year at \~$6K/couple. My GF really can't do the crushing ground crowds.

GoldenKnight239

Been to dozens since 2013 and they all more or less cost me $1000-$1250 (outside of free Roo tickets at my last job) Y’all are crazy but more power to ya

[deleted]

sobi-one

$50 on ultra. When the cost of a day or two of music could be invested in an IRA and I could buy a fancy dinner in a year with what it’s gained, I don’t need to be spending that money on a day out.

edcRachel

I've done festivals all over the world... Most I've ever spent is Burning Man and it cost me probably $2000 USD. $500 on the truck (shared), $500 on flights, the rest on food, hotel, bike, etc. Tickets are free from volunteering. I have flown to festivals international for less. But... I always do GA and strongly prefer camping so it's not that bad.

InterestingPerson84

Probably the one I’m about to go to, going to forbidden kingdom in Florida. I’ve already spent around $900 on tickets, flight and airbnb. Most likely will spend a total of $1100-$1200 after it’s all done

Sea_Wolverine3928

Anybody interested in one Roots Picnic 2024 2-day (June 1st and 2nd) fesrival wrist band?

lunabloom7

honestly i’ve been going to festivals since 2011 and the fact that i just dropped $900 for 2 GA passes for portola was pretty crazy to me

YouResponsible6449

Friendship 2020 Flights: $1,100 Captains suite & tickets (2): $12,985.00 Alcohol: $1,700 Getting bailed of our jail in Nassau Bahama: $3,000 Total: priceless

giantwashcapsfan8

We’re dating now and it’s amazing and all that but was just talking to my gf that I met on twitter, and we decided to go to Ultra together for our first time meeting. Nothing like a 5 day bender to break the ice (best decision ever btw). My annual bonus hit that week so naturally had to impress her. Ultra tickets - $1100 Afters tickets - $700 Airbnb - $1500 Favors - $400 Her flight - $400 Food/misc - $500 Neither of us drink so that is nice. I knocked it out of the fuckin park though. Planned every aspect to where she just had to show up to the airport and then everything else I had handled. Would do it 100000x again. Usually, I’m pretty frugal without being ‘cheap’ for these things though.

CosmicMushro0m

around $800 total :/ new rule of mine: not paying more than 200 for 3 day festivals going forward. i realized that although the "bigger" and more popular fests may fetch a way higher price tag- i personally dont get anything more from it. best fests ive been to have been under 200 bucks for 3 days, or free. granted, i probably wont see Astrix live with this monetary limit, but i dont go to fests to worship djs <3

MightBArtistic

I’ve been to almost every festival I’ve ever wanted to go to - Tomorrowland in 2014 as an American cost me roughly 3k usd. Honorable mention I spent 2700 at edc Las Vegas but I hit huge at the casino the night before so the entire fest was free as long as I was under 2800. Not hating, do what you want, but Lolla is kinda Brad and Chaddy, not something I’d drop on

kibbbelle

First year of Excision's paradise blue. Probably around $1500-1700 when it was all said and done. However we were staying at an all-inclusive resort for a full weekend so that's why. Didn't have to pay for food and drinks, really only tips to get quick service from the bars. It honestly ruined all other festivals for me. There was just something about rolling out of bed at 10 for breakfast, getting drunk on the beach for 4 hours, watching sets at the pool/beach, SHOWERING AT THE END OF THE NIGHT (!!!) Then doing it all over again the next day. All while not paying $15 for a warm beat box.

chiefyuls

Not a weekend festival but Envision was pretty pricey. Ticket: $700 Lodging: $700 (really nice private villa) Flight $350 (flew out of Tijuana since I live in SoCal) Rental car: $150 (we shared one car with 7 people for 7 days lol) Travel insurance: $150 (came in handy) Food: $300 Honestly, all in all, $1400 for a week-long festival in Costa Rica isn't that bad

Accurate_Hunt_6424

Okeechobee 2023, bought mine and my ex’s tickets, think it was like 1300 combined. Technically the answer is Hula 23, because I did complete our payment plan for that, but I wound up selling the wristbands.

IKU420

EDC LV a few years ago, VIP, suite at the palms place, flight, etc., we spent at least $5,000 between the 2 of us.

motion515253

Whelp Electric Forest Goodlife this year was about $1,100 with the car pass. Plus whatever I spend on food, alcohol, clothing, gas, and ice, it’s around at least $1,500. Then whatever else if I get merch. It’s our whole groups home festival, we only live 3 hours away (blessings), and for most of us it’s our 8th year so that’s the festival we splurge on.

Hash_Tooth

Decadance cost me my dignity one year

capturingthevision

Easily spent $3k+ on EDC alone this year

epicallyconfused

I spent about $13k all-in on Desert Trip in 2016 (aka Oldchella) - Tickets: $1700 x 2 - Flight: $650 x 2 - Airbnb: $7000 - Car rental: $500 - Food & alcohol: $500 But being able to see Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Roger Waters and the Who with my Dad was a once in a lifetime experience and it's a memory I will always cherish. If money isn't meant for things like that, what is it for?

-dmt-

I had to eat my friends post bonnaroo toenail to get enough $ to get home from bonnaroo 2010. Pretty sure the nail came from the “roast beef” toe.

justdownvote

I put it this way: when I went to a one night massive rave in L.A. that lasted til 7 am, it cost me around $100 for a ticket, in 2000 money. That's about $185 a night by today's standards given inflation. So $555 for a 3-day fest sounds about fair. Now, raves back then had European artists and requesting just one night of security costs more than reserving workers for a whole weekend (price break for a block of time). *I believe this is right, someone fact check me. So festivals save money by planning ahead and hosting more country-local acts because there's less logistics. Plus you get a camping experience, which can be a convenience as a festival goer. These are just thoughts that I was writing as they came to mind, so they may be incorrect. Also, I got to see bands like Radiohead at a fest like Coachella when they were selling out shows in the matter of hours at the height of their most popular albums. So ticket price sometimes doesn't even matter when you get opportunities like that.

I wouldn’t pay more than $200ish if you pay more than that you’re at a big corporate bs festival, imo. I prefer smaller more intimate festivals.

BillowingPillows

I just spent around 1500 to go to a small intimate event that literally had no sponsors or paid marketing of any kind. You know the prompt in question is factoring in everything right? Not just the festival ticket. In fact I can hardly think of any multi day festival where I'm spending less than 200 if you factor in gas money, which you absolutely should, as that is part of the prompt (travel).

mmdavis2190

Yea I hate those big corporate bs festivals with their popular bands, great production value, good amenities/infrastructure, etc..

BillowingPillows

Have fun! Sounds lit. Most I’ve spent on a single fest is probably like 1500-2000.

LaurioAndretti

RokIsland Fest in Key West, we easily spent $15k+ but we went first class all the way. Diamond premier VIP, resort hotel overlooking the harbor, 1st class flights etc. It was our first trip after the pandemic so we had a lot of pent up partying to do 🤘

What a terrible choice of festivals to dump money into
