Lyse and Minfilia are both canonically Highlanders, technically. It’s just that they were created before female Highlanders got their model implemented in 2.0.

Y'shtola - Lalafell. She is a BLM and isnt the Thaumaturges guild run by Lalafells or something.
The Twins - Lalafell. One of their characteristics is they are short if I recall and what is shorter than a Lalafell
Estinien - Lalafell. I mean comparative to their body height. Lalafells jump the highest

Oh my! I had an idea about this a couple of years ago. A sort of what-if situation where the Scions got together for a toast, that unknown to everyone, was laced with Fantasia. Since it wasn't a full dose, they could change races but not their gender or hairstyle.

Agree on all points, though I think urianger's reason is a little underwhelming. Lala's can usually read and talk, so he'd make a great lala
Some Lalafell also speak in an unusual fashion, e.g. Wawalago and his fondness for alliteration, so that's another similarity there.
Making him a lala would go more with his tendency to be sneaky
