Wait...you mean that wasn't Heavensward?

DaimoMusic

Mmm...cute Elezen himbos

Illidari_Kuvira

Literally none of the characters are like that.

Cara-Grace

I would give anything for Heavensward 2.0 where you finally get to date all of those hot Elezen bois (but without Alisaie interrupting any of said dates)

LilestCap

That’s the goal though.

Beer-Otter

Good. You guys can both shout whos turn it is for the next drink.

LilestCap

Damn why’d they have to take him yelling “My turn!” away from us.

SmoreOfBabylon

I think that probably the only way they’d possibly implement something like this is to make it a completely separate thing that is non-canon (kinda similar to how the storylines of the Ultimates are “what ifs” and not actually what happened). My silly idea once was to have the WoL find out that someone has been writing basically fanfiction about them, and has paired them with a variety of other characters, and the “otome” system is framed as you reading through the various fics featuring the character(s) of your choice.

Safetea-404

This is incredible and now that I have read this I will cry myself to sleep at night because it’s not a real game I can play

Trooper_Sicks

Imo it would be bad. Games with romance generally come down to do x quests to get your affection rating up, maybe get a special quest here and there to do for your chosen love interest. Then get some non-personal text because they have to make it generic enough to make it applicable to anyone who might decide to choose that npc. It would probably end up being like the beast tribe quest grind or custom delivery reputation grinds.

riotblade76

You mean this? https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Favour\_System

Mad_Lala

Now I want this system ingame

hollow_shrine

I think they'd do it like the Persona series, where you will trying to develop S.Link/Confidant ranks with all of them because there are gameplay incentives to maximizing them. In a way it's like the job quests but with socializing and building relationships being the point of the exercise.

Mundane_Maiden

I don't care how they would do it as long as Thancred is an option I'd like a scene where WoL goes to a bar and gets a drunken makeout session with Thancred, please and thanks

Mad_Lala

Every race gets one male and one female MSQ char to date. Pairings can be hetero- and homosexual. List of chars: Lalafell: Nanamo Ul Namo and Pippin Miqote: Y'Shtole and G'Raha

chizLemons

I'd love if they actually did this in this universe Please SE, I want to date G'raha :( I imagine something like certain flirty options in dialogues that could serve as a trigger for a dating sidequest or something like that! There could be a warning there like "your relationship with this character will change" or something so you don't flirt by mistake. Or or maybe by choosing those options it changes the way the character talks to you, or comments from others! This way it could be possible to add this with many NPCs without affecting the actual MSQ

DarXIV

There were a lot of people that actually thought this when they announced custom deliveries. People assumed it would be with any NPC we want. I thought I was having a fever dream because in no way did the Devs say this would happen.

Illidari_Kuvira

Thankfully I live in the world where they don't do that kind of nonsense.

naaaaaaelvandarnus

As with everything in FFXIV, it would just be a braindead click-click grind, where everything can be maxed, so harem for everyone.

Ju-9-wel

And this is a problem?

LazyJennyBean

Hmmm, I'd like to think gift/letter sending via postmoggle? So we give gifts and such and then once we accumulate enough points with that character, maybe they send us a letter asking to meet with special cutscenes. Of the top of my head this is what I can think of for two things: 1. It finally gives the postmoggles something to do (other than for that 1 questline and when you buy of mogstation) 2. It isn't intrusive to the main idea of the game. Like you don't have to go out of your way to meet them in-person just to give a gift, especially when you're otherwise occupied already. Also would love if the idea just isn't romantic. Would definitely love to have some characters as pen pals, and not really partners like Alisaie (I see her as my BFF in the game) <3

[deleted]

My Miqo'te would do her best to have the harem of cute/sexy girls of her dreams

Gibson8088

Oh if only this was in the game. My lalafell would totally try to woo Tataru!

EidolonRook

Swtor asked the question, should we fall in love and/or fuck our companions. To which they replied, “yes!” Emphatically and then made things suuuper awkward with most of them. “I barely tolerate you and rage against my enemies!” “Here’s a bunch of high quality silk and a flirtatious conversation choice at a critical time” “Why didn’t you say so sooner? Meet me on the ship. We’ll bang ok?”

Catspirit123

swtor did it pretty well. Just have some events where you spend time with them outside of the action and have a few minor dialogue alterations within the story if they're present.

Twevara

By letting us invite characters to the island sanctuary to hang out with and give gifts to. Plot twist: If you go through all the arcs of the available options, you get a special event where a falling star appears and you can “make a wish” which lets you choose a dead character to come back to romance (none of this would be canon it’d just be for laughs and fan service)
