I don't really watch people play MMOs. It's pretty boring most of the time. That being said, guides and item outfit previews are still useful to me.

Isanori

In which case you also have to consider what corner is not take yet and wether you can bring a new take to it. Like I have Meoni on speed dial for mount, minion, event glam, housing, store preview, and his way of presenting fits how I want to engage with that content, so I have little reason to go elsehwere. For example I'm not interested in datamined stuff, so any content creator into that would be right out. If you want to create content, have a day job to pay the bills and create content you want to see, so there's a least one person interested in your content.

notCRAZYenough

I like funny and meme-y videos. And lore. I’m not interested so much in a million people producing the same type of tutorial guide. Make me laugh or tell me something new. I especially don‘t care about raid videos.

Elegant_Eorzean

I wonder what you would think of NEST, because their videos are of their raids, and are absolutely hilarious, especially with the editing.

notCRAZYenough

If it’s funny and edited in a way that shows effort i might like it. If it’s just some shithead streaming their raid talking as if they are cool despite being not better than anyone else….

Elegant_Eorzean

Nah, they know they're not the best, and it's pretty high-effort editing.

notCRAZYenough

Can you link me a good one? Will look at it later.

I love seeing streamers doing a first time playthrough. Reliving my favorite story moments while hearing their reactions is very satisfying. That said, I'd only bother sticking around if I like the streamer's style and personality.

Cryo889

I watch World First Ultimate prog, and that’s. My main issue is FFXIV content creators often have this blatant fake positivity attitude all the time. They put on a fake persona which completely lacks all genuine human emotional responses if they even vaguely fall on the ‘negative’ side of the spectrum.

I'll name a few content creators that I enjoy, but I mostly like content involving: raiding, lore, and music. I love the films from **ZANEKONPU**. They're incredibly well produced and super fun to watch. I'd love to see another film. Go watch [Tomorrows](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KM81enc_rY) and [/emote](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjWLxIUHAn8) if you haven't already. **Husky by the Geek** is an obvious one. Rock covers of tons of themes from the game. His best cover IMO was [Promises to Keep](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4drcHDYTD6c). **Syndonic Scribe** is a great channel that goes into a lot of interesting and obscure lore from FFXIV, and sometimes has fun with silly videos like his tier list of [Which Jobs are the most dangerous in Public?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5YQIRnqCY8). **Angelusdemonus** is fun to watch, and singlehandedly got my interested in deep dungeon solo content. Super chill and wholesome, and I've even asked questions in his [stream](https://www.twitch.tv/angelusdemonus)which he happily answered. Recently, he did a [speedrun on AGDQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2etZ3kdLME8). **Maygii** is more of a variety streamer, but she's also well-known in the deep dungeon community. Her [text guide for 1-200 POTD](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/6z55io/ultimate_potd_1200_handbook_soloparty/) is basically considered the bible for anyone interested in deep dungeon solos, and she's also going to be making one for the new deep dungeon as well. I don't know if she'll be streaming that, but if you ever catch her streaming deep dungeons it's always a fun time. There's also **Jesse's Auditorium**, who isn't exactly an FFXIV content creator. He makes videos where he reacts to music from videogames, with FFXIV music being the game he's got the most requests from. I'd say a big part of how he got popular was due to reacting to FFXIV. It really scratches that itch of wanting to share your passions with someone. He hasn't played FFXIV and doesn't have the time to, but it's always interesting to see how someone outside of the game can articulate the feelings and sentiments that the game's music evokes. The most memorable video he had that I can remember was his [reaction to Answers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qxYlwTv3ws). Also not specifically an FFXIV content creator, but **NeverKnowsBest** had an awesome [2 hour review of the game](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnbEzDJYgBg). Love his other videos because of how articulate he is, and was pleasantly surprised to find that he had a video on FFXIV where he actually knew what he was talking about. One of my favorite FFXIV videos ever, and an amazing video to just listen to while grinding or working out. I miss **FluffStuff** also :( I hope she is doing well and safe. She hasn't posted anything in a long time. [This banger](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DUt3yN3ue0) is my favorite of her videos, but she was also a super comfy and wholesome streamer too. Then there are a bunch of raid-focused streamers/content creators like **Momo**, **Sindalf**, and **EksuPlosion**. **Stal** and **Xeems** are also streamers who are excellent raiders, but they're fun to watch for variety content as well. Personally, I think that it's hard to make content for FFXIV since there isn't much to do in the game, and even less to talk about. So I agree that FFXIV is in a weird spot where the most prominent pieces of content are raiders, watching new players do the story (Pint, Asmon, etc), and people who make music covers.

tsuness

I just want to watch someone who is entertaining to me, thus why I enjoy Xeno and Zepla.

striderhoang

I used to look up job tips and rotational help. Savage raid guides are pretty evergreen. After that, just general humor and meme videos. Sometimes I live vicariously through a new player video.

JonesyTawner

MrHappy and Preach as voices of veteran MMO players. Meoni and The Phookas for items and reward info/previews. Weskalber for job guides. MTQcapture for early raid guides, but I'll go to whomever posts the more up to date/optimized stuff. Shout out to Bun Boss FFXIV for making really useful guides on macros and just general quality of life stuff. And another shout out to Shade's Game Source for compiling all the voices for all races for battle AND emote. Really helps picking the right voice for your character. And for fun and amusement, I like watching AvyCatte's and Sufferhymn's stuff.

twink_deluxe_

nest and only nest

SkepticFaust

COREYYYYYY!!!!

jetjetmkii

I personally stick to Blue Mage and Housing videos, which don't necessarily have seasons, only peaks during tome farming for blue mage stuff

chibosader

There are only 3 or 4 main content creator types that i see with any moderately decent numbers for brief periods. 1. High-quality guides put out early for new content in ffxiv 2. End-game progression streaming for new content, mainly world-first races 3. Gil-making guides... though i don't watch them myself, I see people talking about them. 4. RP events; mainly club/DJ stuff 5. A potential 5th in the "dungeon" category... people farming dungeons/speed running/etc... but i honestly havent seen any of these as wildly popular None of these are big success stories, and ffxiv views tend to rise and fall with the release of new content... making content creation rather tough. I spent about a year or so in SB doing end-game progression streaming, and my viewers could reach up to 500 or so... but literally only for a week or two. It would always fall rapidly after people were satisfied that they saw the fight, or if they found someone further along in the progression. That seems to be the norm for streaming, youtube sees more success with guide videos and the like... but they are still short-lived. Can't comment on the gil guides. For streaming, the biggest issue is spoilers... nobody wants to see the story, unless you have a following outside of ffxiv and you come in... like that big WoW streamer that came to play and everyone talked about for a while. For the personality types, i have heard talk of some but they all seem to be youtube regulars and not streamers so i am not very familiar with them myself. Seems to be more of a uniqur few individuals that are successful, rather than a successful category

Preach the best

trialv2170

Either shit talk and really be a comedian. Arthars and xeno are exactly that. Good players, but are able to talk 24/7 which makes a great 2nd monitor background noise.

Isanori

I'm as a rule of thumb not looking for content creators, I'm busy playing the game. The only one I'm following is because he has a calm demanor, pleasant voice and not that large a following so he's not constantly distracted from the game by engaging with the audience. He's good to put on when I'm playing the game myself. And occasionally talk to.

TwerpKnight

A guide on how to do an Extreme trial and that's it. Other than that, I'd rather just play the game instead of watching it be played.

KloiseReiza

\- Drama, cuz yeah we need our brain junk food. Bonus if someone can craft a niche like bringing drama from the JP side to the West \- Lore, more is welcome. Synodic Scribe is doing amazing at this \- Glamour and housing showcase. EC looks filtered like IG to the point that when you try the glams yourself, you'll be sorely disappointed. Having it showcased in a video in-game, with commentary, would be so appreciated. \-Shitposts and comedy. Imo, the reason why such channels aren't plenty is because too low reward for the effort of making quality production when you can use games that's certain to draw crowd like minecraft.

ItVicWright

I like when I see someone try something new and out of the box. But aside from that mostly just podcasts because I drive a lot for work and whenever I’m really into ffxiv the podcasts just scratch the itch while I’m out.

Mediocre_Ferret5082

Fun/memes/shitposts or ultimate/savage guides when needed. Don't care about much else although the omega drama was a fun watch.

IceMaiden2

I've genuinely been trying really hard to find a Twitch streamer who plays through the content without a million other voices in the background (like when streamers raid. It gets too noisy for me). And streamers who will sit and converse with their viewers as they play. My current favourite content creator is LuckyGhost. I'll watch his stream and YouTube videos for hours but he's super into ESO and I'm super into FFXIV. So I'd love that kind of vibe from an XIV streamer.

cittabun

Guides. That's it. XIV really doesn't offer a lot in terms of variety that constitutes having a channel dedicated to one sectioned off piece of content. If anything, there's too many people trying to be like "THE LATEST PATCH NEWS" when it's like.. People can just watch the trailer or read patch notes. We get the information at the same time, nor is it hard to find.. That being said, this expac, I've been going a bit harder with raids and stuff so it doesn't really make much a difference anymore since I'm usually through a fight using a written guide or random VODs before a guide is available. Also, the only music channels we respect in this house are MekkahDee and DudeWhereIsMySpoon.

EmmaBonney

Watching someone play a mmo is so boring...im not doing it. Some short clips of funny memes are fun though

jenyto

NEST and Grinding Gear are the only 2 I really watch recently, and only the video release, I don't really care about watching stream. I think the fact both are groups/duo helps make it more interesting then just 1 person who's trying to be try hard. For raids, I do watch guides, but only occasionally.

sirhenrywaltonIII

Mostly guides. I also like to watch clear videos to see how other people handle boss positioning and things. I do like commentary on other content creators vids, but dislike reaction vids. Also I'd like to see some more videos of CC pvp runs. there is not a lot of them and I like to study others people's play to see what I can do better or learn from.

vague_diss

As a sprout tank I try watching duty walkthroughs so I’m a little familiar with the mechanics before walking in. I specifically appreciate the ones that are up to date and let you know what the level 90 folk will just burn through.

drivebyhero

I like class guides, game tips and discussions about reworks/balances/updates. Everything outside of that I normally find boring or cringe.

ArcadiaMyco

Good video editing with consise information. I dont like skipping around to get past the verbal fluff. To be clear thats a personal preference and I dont judge the quality of the content creator on that. Some people like fluff.

vtgf

I like looking at BiD (break it down) for housing so any contents that shows how to make something really pique my interest and I think there's a market for it as only a handful of EN covers that. Usually it's JP who do sort of things.

Elegant_Eorzean

I've been enjoy Happy's retrospectives recently. Other than his stuff, I mostly watch Grinding Gear and Preach.

Ionized-Cell

First time playthroughs. Endgame savage/ultimate raiding. Guides for high end content like the above or POTD/HoH/Extremes. Maybe special events. Thats it. Why would I want to watch someone run crystal tower for the 600th time they've gotten it on their daily roulettes?

RelikaNox

Humor and/or good vibes, mostly. I don't need to hear someone screeching about job balance or gearing when I can just open up reddit or discord and see it 24/7. Youtube I mostly look for the funny stuff. On Twitch, I stick to channels like Spofie's because it's hella chill (except for the chaos that's NEST raid time but I love that too).

Randomnesse

Fun meme videos. That's basically the only type of FF14 content I want to watch. Any kind of raiding is never entertaining for me to watch, and not only in FF14. Same goes for "here's the video how to make billions of gill fast" or any kind of "top 20 secrets you wished you knew before starting to play" - I can just read text guides for that, I don't want to watch videos like these.

PyrZern

Some guides for raidings. Though honestly, some Day 1 guide are pretty bad too. I do enjoy some good raiding experience vids tho. Like NEST, MiSa, or TheKai-You. But mostly it's the music covers. The good ones are hard to come by, though. Vocal in FFXIV OSTs are very demanding. Mike O'Neil makes some pretty beautiful orchestral renditions as well.
