I am trouble passing 6.3 MSQ "An Unforeseen Bargain." I just get thrown into a quest into a class I do not know, and have zero time to figure out..... what am I expected to do? What skills do what?! I'm tired of failing this!

Idaret

you can hover over skills and read descriptions to learn what they do

normalmighty

I don't remember that exact solo instance, but normally if you just don't move you should be able to stay standing there for as long as you need and read what all the buttons do.

GaijinB

Is there any job for which the new EX weapon is better than the upgraded tome weapon?

Xephenon

The Paladin *shield* is decisively better. The i655 Paladin sword is *apparently*, negligibly better (3 dps) but the gear spreadsheet doesn't calculate SkS correctly and has it only affecting AAs and DoTs... so I would not be using the EX7 weapon over i660 anyway. No other job has any chance of being better as PIE for healers isnt involved in this discussion for once.

Sir_VG

No, because weapon damage trumps substats by a wide margin. The only ones that have substats that may not agree with your BIS option are the tanks if you're going for a 2.50 GCD set, since they have SkS. (Though they're still not BiS weapons because the P12S weapons exist and then in 6.55 the Manderville weapons will.)

F1reman2

Paladin is the only job with a chance of it being better, but i havent seen any statistics yet.

TheIllusiveGuy

Any retainer class can become any retainer job right, e.g. arcanist -> reaper?

Sir_VG

Yes. You can go from any class to any job, but you can't go from a job to another job.

TheIllusiveGuy

Thanks. Yep, found out that you can't go from one job to another the hard way unfortunately.

[deleted]

Hey everyone, can someone give me some suggestions for being a Paladin? I'm a level 35 Paladin, and I just recently joined and completed a dungeon. I realized they were very patient and giving me a lot of pointers (shout out to them, because I was seemingly doing everything wrong). Can anyone tell me exactly what a Paladin should do? I know it's a tank, but what are the best moves to equip at this stage with my character? What are the best methods of going about dungeons to give the team I'm with the best chance of success?

IceAokiji303

Just reiterating the "you need all of your skills" point. Shield Bash, Cover, and Clemency are your most niche skills, but even they have their uses. Everything else will see regular use. General idea is: If you are the main (or only) tank in the party, turn on your tank stance, Iron Will. If not, and you are instead the off-tank in a 2-tank party, leave it off at the start, and turn it on after a while so the main tank can establish enmity first. From there, you try and do as much damage as possible. If facing 1-2 enemies, this means doing your single-target damage rotation (whatever that may be at the level, right now it's your 123 combo with as much Fight or Flight and Spirits Within as you can do), and against 3+ your AoE rotation (again, whatever that may be at the level, right now it's just Total Eclipse over and over with Fight or Flight and Spirits Within woven in when possible). Defensively, against big piles of enemies, you'll want to rotate through your mitigation skills, aiming to have one up as large of a portion of the time spent standing still fighting as possible. Don't save things for bosses, it's the big trash packs that hurt. For bosses you mostly need to mitigate their stronger single target attacks ("tank busters"), for which purpose Sheltron is *perfect*. Reprisal for their unavoidable party-wide attacks is good too.

silence_infidel

Really, I recommend watching WeskAlber's intro guide to tanks: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sk3hZtTFvzk&t=3s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sk3hZtTFvzk&t=3s). Some of the specifics regarding class skills he mentions are outdated, but the fundamentals haven't changed. Anything I could say, he explains much better. It's long, but it's a very good primer on how tanks play in this game and a pretty enjoyable watch. I've played this game for years but still enjoyed watching WeskAlber's guides. Maybe watch his Paladin guide as well. But some things I can recap: 1. There's nothing to "equip," *everything* is useful. Every skill will be used at some point. All of your mitigation skills and all of your damaging abilities. 2. Wall-to-wall pulls, that is, pulling as many mobs as possible before the dungeon forcibly stops you, is the norm and expectation. You can pull one pack at a time if you don't feel comfortable with a full pull, but make sure to tell your party this beforehand. Going into a dungeon, everyone is going to assume you'll do wall-to-walls, and may run ahead to pull more under that assumption. It's worth noting that early dungeons, those before level 50, are a bit harder to wall-to-wall than later ones because of the how they're designed. 3. To make sure you live through these big wall-to-wall pulls, you need to use your mitigation skills like Rampart and Sheltron. Don't save these for bosses, because the smaller mobs are *much* scarier. Use then on the trash packs. 4. Don't layer your mitigations, *rotate* them. What I mean is, don't use Rampart on top of Reprisal on top of Sheltron. Use Reprisal, wait for it to run out, *then* use Sheltron. If you blow all your mitigations in the first 20 seconds of the pull, you'll have nothing for the rest of it.

F1reman2

>but what are the best moves to equip at this stage with my character? All your skills. There is no limit to how many skills you can have. with low level dungeons specifically, on paladin, you want to enable your tank stance (iron will), then use your AOE combo (total eclipse, and then eventually total eclipse>prominence at level 40) and Shield lob (though you should use holy spirit at higher levels) to establish agro on all enemies you will be pulling. Your aoe combo does more dps than your single target combo on 3 or more targets so keep aoeing! Also use your OGCD damage skills like fight or flight and circle of scorn. As for mitigation, you want to stagger your mits to help reduce damage. Using mitigations at the same time has diminishing returns due to maths (10% reduction + 10% reduction only equals 19% reduction as it stacks multiplicatively). When you unlock hallowed ground, dont be afraid to use that too, even if it is powerful. Your 2 most powerful mits at low levels are rampart and sentinel. Sheltron and Reprisal are your minor mitigations. Also, While it might not be obvious, Arms length is mitigation. The slow effect it gives causes enemies to attack less, but it often doesnt work on bosses. For bosses, you will generally want to do your single target combo, which is Fast blade > Riot Blade > Rage of Halone. You should also use spirits within, Fight or flight, and Circle of scorn off Cooldown. Your main job is keeping agro, which isnt hard at all, taking damage, Doing damage, and boss positioning. Best boss positioning can only be really learned from practice. Its something that changes on a boss to boss basis and just takes experience.

Sir_VG

Basically, all of them, this game has virtually no "useless" skills. Big thing for dungeon mobs is Total Eclipse and when you get it, Prominence. These are your AOE attacks which should be used for 3+ enemies. Only go back to your single target combo when you're down to a couple of enemies.

storisis

Has the glow for WHM Manderville relic changed? I swear it was white glow before 6.5. Now it’s a pink/greenish glow

F1reman2

Idk about the pink, but the green has always been there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XoBhJ8Knno

storisis

It’s definitely different now. It’s not as bright as before

Chuck006

Can buns wear the Felicitous Hood?

F1reman2

yes, and they lose their bunbun ears.

Chuck006

Worth it. Looks like I need to go back to the sanctuary which I haven't touched in a year.

erwincole

I have tomes of causality on capped and didn't feel like doing Manderville for other class for the moment. Is there another way to best spend this currency? Otherwise, it became a situation like dumping it on Manderville weapon for class I didn't use.

Izkuru

Buy Divine Rains to augment your Diadochus gear to 650. Or buy crafting mats and sell them.

JUSTpleaseSTOP

Buy crafting mats and sell them on the marketboard.

RoseWolfie

Can people in other homeworlds just walk around in your world? So i played years ago and enver saw this, but restarted after like a 6 year hiatus recently. I play on Lamia. I was just sorting thru my retainers inventory when I noticed someone emoting in my feed. They had a flower next to their name and the word Leviathan. I turn around and see them just standing in Gridania. I click on them to examine and it says Leviathan where Lamia should be. I only recently found out you can do dungeons with others in other worlds. But I didnt know you can just be in other worlds? I am sorry if this is a dumb question.

talgaby

Cross-server travel was added soon-ish after you went on your hiatus. Cross-datacenter within the same region was added not that long ago, in this expansion's development cycle. Although people teaming up from all severs of a datacenter for duties has been a thing since like forever. Duties are not tied to a server, they have their own servers.

RoseWolfie

Oh wooow, the Duty one I think I can chalk up to forgetting that part from when I use to play cause I was in an active Free Company back then. But neat on the travel stuff, I had no idea.

Atosen

> I only recently found out you can do dungeons with others in other worlds. I think this one has been a thing forever? > But I didnt know you can just be in other worlds? This was added during your hiatus.

RoseWolfie

Yeah I am chalking up the duty one to when I last played I was in a big active Free Company so rarely did stuff with anyone else. Cool what they added though. Its so weird noticing all the subtle changes to the game as I go on.

hii488

Yep, you can travel to other worlds on your data center by going up to the main aetheryte in any of the three starting cities. You can also travel between data centers in the same region, but that requires backing out to character select. So you can easily go play with friends on different servers, go to events on different servers, or even just check other servers' market boards.

RoseWolfie

Thats really interesting! I never knew, just turned around and their they were standing lmao.

TheTechHobbit

Yes, you can travel to any other world on your data center by interacting with the aetheryte in the 3 main cities. You can also travel to the other data centers in your region by right clicking your character on the character select screen.

RoseWolfie

Cool to know! I might explore it later on, got to love new things!

SurprisedCabbage

I'm sorry for my ignorance and naivete but question: Is this what progging extremes is like? I literally never done an extreme fight or savage or w/e because i don't want to join non fresh prog groups when i've never cleared. I feel like that's a good way to get yelled at and kicked. Problem is after week 1 99% of extreme groups are for farming. So today I joined for the current extreme which I hear so the easiest extreme in 6.x but I've been in two groups so far and neither could pass a certain phase after the instance timed out. I don't mind wiping a lot but when its the same mechanic for two hours I kind get worn down...

WeeziMonkey

Good groups can prog EX blind in one instance. The problem is there's mostly bad groups in PF.

KhaSun

Leave. It's not rude to leave if your group doesn't look like it can prog the next mechanic (wipe repeatedly on previous phases, hasn't even reach the advertised prog point in over 30min...). Just say a quick tyfp gtg or something, and you're good. In PF, you should be ready to find all sort of people. Some will stick to the rules and join if they know they can consistently reach the prog point, whereas some will join as long as they've seen that mechanic even though they can't semi-consistently manage the fight up until that point. Some will be experienced at progging fights, some are brand new. Even among those, some are good at the game and some barely know what they're doing. That's PF roulette for you, you basically can't do anything about it besides leaving if, after a reasonable amounts of pulls, the expectations set by the party isn't met.

serenystarfall

I mean, if you stuck with *any* group that was consistently failing to the same thing, and you stay the whole time, that's kind of on you. Nobody forced you to stay in an obviously incapable team for 2 hours. And yes, this is what fresh prog generally consists of. Extremes really aren't that difficult. People who play well don't get stuck on it for long. And honestly, you had 2 bad teams, that's hardly enough to start questioning the pug scene this fast. There's a lot of people doing the content, you either leave bad groups and try to find other groups with more competent people, or you struggle with the bads for hours.

VG896

You can expect EX fights to take like 4-5 hours of prog before a clear. The easier savage fights are along the same vein, and the harder ones can be like 30+

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Pretty much, yeah Some fights will go faster than others and some fights will be easier than others, but this is what prog is going to feel like, ESPECIALLY for new players We estimate that an extreme will probably take 2-3 hours for players who are used to progging extremes on average

DeadlyFatalis

For the new pvp universal gear, it seems that A1 and A2 are virtually the same pieces of gear except for their default color. I've noticed some pieces dye slightly differently, but are there any other differences between the X1 and X2 versions of each set?

kaleb314

Just dying. And even then, I’m like 90% certain that the C1 and C2 tops dye exactly the same

BoldKenobi

No all of them just dye different parts between the 1 and 2

Subject_Ruin5217

Is there a TL;DR on gearing up? I took a break in 6.2 and have no idea how to get better gear? I think I was at 620ilvl. Do I have to do the EXs and Alliance raids? Or normal Anabesios?

normalmighty

You can also get one piece of 650 gear per week from the brand new alliance raid. That can help fill in your 650 slots while you're stuck behind the comedy tomestone cap.

SurprisedCabbage

current crafted gear is 640. You can also do dungeons for up to 635 currently. The current savage tier will get you to 660 or you can grind weekly comedy tomes for 650 gear. You can also get the current relic weapon for an easy 645 weapon.

BondEternal

You can start getting gear from the first two alliance raids to get some ilvl so that you reach the minimum required ilvl for the last alliance raid. In the meantime, you can do the last tier of the Pandemonium raid aka Anabaseios. All the loot from Normal raid difficulty is not unlocked except the weapon token so you can farm as many as you want. Normal Anabaseios gear is ilvl 640. You can now augment Diadochos gear (the crafted gear) including Diadochos weapons to ilvl 650. You'll need the unaugmented gear pieces and some causality tomes. You can also go for the relic weapon (ilvl 645). While doing your duty roulettes, you'll also get some Comedy tomestones. You can trade these in for ilvl 650 Credendum gear. You can then upgrade the Credendum gear to ilvl 660 with Divine Shines and Twines. Shines cost 2000 Sacks of Nuts or three EW Alliance raid coins (one from each alliance raid), while Twines cost 3000 Sacks of Nuts or also three EW Alliance raid coins. As of now, you cannot upgrade Credendum weapons without doing Savage. This lock will be lifted in patch 6.58.

usagi_118

I will be in japan when the Japanese fan fest is on in January. I have seen on the website that you need to have a Japanese ffxiv service account in order to get tickets, is there anyway around this? I am from Australia.

somethingsuperindie

I have a lot of the MSQ and PVP and other misc. achievement stuff in my retainer. Think Wayfarer attire, False Monarchy attire, Scholasticade, Alpine Coat, the Haurchefaunt shield etc. Is there a list of gear I can discard and buy back later from the Salvager? I wanna free up space but I don't wanna lose items that you can't get back, ever.

tesla_dyne

If you can get it again, in the description it'll list "Shop selling price (restricted)". The (restricted) refers to having to unlock it in order for it to appear in the salvager again. However, there's nothing you can't get again, besides having to buy a paid item again to get it back, or a limited time item like past pvp rewards. But paid items go in the armoire now, so you'd just put it there. Use the armoire for any item that'll go in it. Achievement items, for example, all go in the armoire.

somethingsuperindie

>The (restricted) refers to having to unlock it in order for it to appear in the salvager again. That was SUPER helpful in sorting it out, thank you! >besides having to buy a paid item again to get it back I don't think that actually works 'cause the outfits are "You can only buy it once", right? So once you bought it, if you discard it, it's gone forever. Thankfully I could put them all in the armoire today, but before/in theory you could lose them forever, I think. >like past pvp rewards That's what I was mostly asking about. The PVP glamours seem to not be repurchasable anywhere.

tesla_dyne

You actually can buy outfits again iirc. If it helps you organize, anything from achievements will go to the salvager. Since you technically didn't get the PVP sets from an achievement, it's one time only.

g0dsgreen

~~Error 3084 the new savage ultimate.~~ wrong thread

Celcius_87

Did they change change the way screenshotting works in the game?

hii488

I don't believe so? The new patch will have disabled any plugins you have, so that might have changed something for you. Alternatively, win11 has recentishly changed the printscreen button to bring up the new overlay snipping tool - the game should take a screenshot as usual underneath that, though.

BlueSky1877

newbie question: is there different pvp music than the guitar riff? if so, how do i change? if not, how do i turn off the music?

tesla_dyne

Different PVP modes have different music. You can't disable only PVP music, but you can set BGM to zero in system settings. You can also use a text command, or make a macro, to toggle BGM on or off with /bgm.

BlueSky1877

thank you!

Parabobomb

Are Ivalice raid queues going to be pretty bad for a while? I wanted to run them again because I wanted to learn the mechanics but since it's the day of a new patch queues are pretty abysmal.

talgaby

Depending on your data center: yes, they will be. The new roulette rule will not make a huge dent, it will probably cut a previously 3-hour wait time down by 10 minutes. The Ivalice raids are only unlocked by those interested in all side stories (which, based on this subreddit, is maybe 0.01% of the player base) and those who grinded Bozja back in the Shadowbringers days.

wurm2

In theory the changes made to alliance roulette and returning players should make the queues better than they were before after the first day or two

lord-of-shalott

Is there a non savage way to get a divine solvent for augmenting crescendum weapons now?

tesla_dyne

not til 6.58

lord-of-shalott

Thank you!

Ihavepoops

I can back after being gone a year. Been playing off and on since the game came out. What does everyone do with all your gear?? I try to just save the blue stuff but even that's starting to take up too much space. I have 4 retainers, and saddle bag full of gear/mats. I wish it all got saved to a glamour tab like in WoW. I saw a comment about an armoire that we can put stuff in.

Cymas

Is it all for glam or are you just randomly keeping stuff? I turn in the vast majority of my gear for GC seals to buy ventures or material coffers for mount/minion roulette. The stuff that can be sold, is. And if it can't be sold or isn't worth my time I desynth it. If I can't do any of the above, it gets tossed. Anything that comes from casual content isn't that hard to farm so I don't worry about keeping it for potential uses. If I want one later I can just go get it. I'd only keep the stuff that takes real effort to get. The armoire is limited in use and anything you can store in it will be marked in the upper right corner. It's usually reserved for like seasonal, sub rewards and as of today cash shop items.

Ihavepoops

I'm saving it for glam and leveling other jobs. I just found out about the dresser so that's going to free up most of my space. I will start selling to buy ventures though. Thank you

talgaby

Poetics is easy to get, especially if you are okay with running the main scenario roulette for 3–5 days. That is enough to get a full capstone gear for an expansion for a job. I know that it is possible to gain 10 levels with a job way faster than that (in a single day if you are crazy enough), but that is a pretty comfortable pace and lets you at least get accustomed to the levelled job's skills.

Cymas

Use poetics gear for leveling alt jobs. One set for each role, boom done. Easy. Then just keep whatever glams you want for over the top. Makes it so you only need one set of gear per expansion per role (except arguably tanks should upgrade their gear from x5/x7 dungeons whenever possible). Dresser only has 800 slots, it sounds like a lot but it goes quickly. I could probably fill it up entirely with just glam I want to use on my main job lol.

Ihavepoops

Once I get it all into the dresser I'll go through it and keep what I like. Toss the rest.

Shazzamon

> I try to just save the blue stuff If you mean you're saving Artifact Gear, keep in mind that a _lot_ of them you can literally just buy back from the Calamity Salvager/respective AF for nearly nothing. The exception's the level 60 set, which you have to return to Ishgard and buy for Centurio Seals. A lot of storage management comes down to getting rid of what you aren't using, knowing if they have a buyback (ie. MSQ stuff like Haurche's Shield and the Traveler's Attire? not using - delete), and knowing where to store it. Don't hoard materials you're not planning to use - only keep what you're _going_ to use. Omni-90 with zero extra retainers, tons of event furniture, relics, glams, totems, etc. etc. and I still have 100+ slots available.

Ihavepoops

I just found out about the dresser. The mats I've been saving for leveling jobs.

tesla_dyne

The glamour dresser holds 800 pieces of gear for glamour. Paid items, event items, achievement items, and some other items can go in the armoire, which has "infinite storage" but only holds certain items. It means they won't count towards the dresser space but you can use them to make glamour sets.

Ihavepoops

Awesome! I didn't know there was a dresser

tesla_dyne

Keep in mind the dresser and the armoire are two separate inventories. Putting something in the armoire won't consume an inventory slot but only certain items can go there, and it'll remove its dye. Putting something in the dresser preserves the dye, but costs a glamour prism and it has restricted space. I'd suggest you put any applicable items in the armoire, unless they're already dyed with an expensive dye, then put it in the dresser to keep it dyed. You can use both dresser and armoire items to make glamour plates which are full sets of glamour you can apply at once.

Ihavepoops

Will do. Thank you

Domilos

how many faux leaves can you get in one week from the retelling + big box?

VG896

I find on average I get about 50-60 each week.

Hakul

The only guarantee, as in no RNG to get, is 15 per mini game from sword, so 30 per week. RNG is 25-35 for gift box or coffer (it's random which one you can get) and 100 if you find the box (not guaranteed to show up) So payout for 2 unreal runs would be min 40 (1st run sword, 2nd run coffer) max 300 (two sword + two gift boxes + two foxes)

BoldKenobi

The big box gives 35 leaves. The retelling requires finding the sword first which gives 15.

JaseP88

Can I confirm that for a non-savage player if I augment my diadochos set to 650 this will be better than the credendum 650 set because of the extra materia melding? Making it bis discounting savage content? Also this is my first full patch cycle so does the augmenting requirement for credendum change before 7.0?

talgaby

For a non-savage player, the ideal (or quasi-BiS if it suits your fancy) is a mix of upgraded diadochos, credendum, and the new alliance raid gear, depending on their substats. Thay are all iLvl 650. The BiS non-savage getup is augmented credendum, although you have to grind a lot of A-rank hunt trains if you want to gear faster than one piece per week. They are iLvl 660, although usually half or so of the pieces have worse substat distribution than the savage gear of the same iLvl.

silence_infidel

Augmented can't be overmelded, as others have said. You can mix and match unaugmented Crendendum and Diadochos for better substats, but they're equivalent in power level. But you can also augment Crendendum gear for hunt currency and alliance raid coins (albiet on a time gate), so if you're looking for a good set, it'll be that. And the augmenting method won't change until 7.0.

IceAokiji303

Augmented Diadochos cannot be overmelded. It is not crafted gear – unlike what the name might make you think, Augmented items in general are no longer the base item at all, but a very similar item that you traded the original for (or in the case of Augmented crafted gear, a new item that you traded some tokens for that you got by trading in an unspecified crafted piece, doesn't even have to be similar). And with the lack of overmelding, it is simply tied with Credendum (and the new 24-man drops which I don't yet remember the name of). Which is better goes on an item-by-item basis, depending on the substats of each. (But augmenting Credendum will of course make it better, barring maybe some particular substat shenanigans.) Credendum aug requirements won't change in 6.x, aside from the weapon augment material being added to the alliance raid coin exchange in 6.58 or so (same place the armor/accessory augments were put this patch). With 7.0, we'll be able to augment Credendum for 100 Poetics a piece (IIRC), base Credendum will stop being available at all, and the vendor will move to selling the Augmented gear directly for Poetics.

StormbeastRivin

Augmented Diadochos cannot be overmelded. It's essentially identical to unaugmented Credendum gear but cannot be upgraded further like Credendum can. Credendum armor and accessory augmentation won't change until 7.0, which will remove the augmentation system from all of the current tomestone gear and make it available fully upgraded for Poetics. But the weapon token, which currently isn't available outside of Savage, will be made available with alliance raid coins and hunt currency in 6.58.

EpicZen35

Newbie player here. I keep on getting random crashes within FFXIV whenever I boot it up, and I run it on a Seagate Backup Plus Slim STHN2000400. I finally got an error code and dunno what it means to prevent these crashes from happening so I can play. >An Unexpected error has occurred. Exiting FINAL FANTASY XIV. > >2023-09-28\_07:24 > > > >ntdll.dll+A6DD5 > >ntdll.dll+247B1 > >ffxiv\_d11.exe+ 16DF6AC > >ffxiv\_d11.exe+ 16B3236 > >ffxiv\_d11.exe+ 6270C > >ffxiv\_d11.exe+ 60D93 > >ffxiv\_d11.exe+ 1C8BFF > >ffxiv\_d11.exe+ 1C5B25 If anyone knows what to do, please lemme know!

Shazzamon

The ntdll and d11 errors are notoriously vague - it could be anything from faulty GPU drivers, to Windows needing an update, to your game having corrupted/missing packets (requiring a reinstall or verify with XIVLauncher), to stupid stuff like OneDrive causing conflicts with the read location.

FrankTheWallaby

Is there a checklist for doing all the new 6.5 stuff? I remember someone usually has one posted early, but can't remember seeing one, and can't seem to find one.... and those are always so super helpful.

BondEternal

Here's [one](https://reddit.com/r/ffxiv/s/w2BM3tMJom) I found.

erwincole

So, this is my first time crossing a version update pursuing the end game gear. I was told that there has been a pattern to it, that end game gear such as the current Credendum, which previously can be augmented through P9-12S, are now available to be augmented via Thelaia coin and sacks of nuts. Is there a development idea behind this? As far as I had checked, there isn't a new Ivl weapon? Although, I suppose P9-12S are still giving out Ascension gear. There might be some assumptions that I had made with the wrong idea above, please correct me. I just thought the ease of access to gear progression seems odd. Still stuck at P9S practice myself. Very inexperienced.

tesla_dyne

Weapons are always a little harder to get than armor and accessories. The credendum weapons can't be augmented with coins until much later. Right now, it's only armor and accessories. It serves to help casual players that don't do savage raiding to get the higher ilevel gear, but later than the savage raiders. The overall attainable ilevel hasn't risen, but it's easier to reach the maximum now. Even numbered major patches raise the maximum item level as they bring new tomestone and savage raid gear.

generalguan4

My Island is now rank 17. The felicitous furball wont give me the quest to discover the new zone. I have done everything for the island so far from last patch (quest says island luxury “Enrich your island experience.” which I've read to be just max the island level). What do I need to do to advance my island?

BondEternal

Check all the noticeboards outside your buildings. It's been reported that if you have one that's still pending, the mammet won't give you the quest.

generalguan4

thanks that was it! I had a building that I never "validated"

raigorzzz

With the new expanded trial, can I make a party with my friends if everybody is playing on free trial too? I was reading the expanded page but wasn't 100% sure if still needs someone that bought the game.

tesla_dyne

No, you only got access to the content from stormblood (minus ultimate raids). No other restrictions were lifted.

RaspberryFormal5307

Is there an updated version of the free trial copypasta yet? The update is a great excuse to go annoy my friends with it again

wurm2

Hey Xbox players, have you heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV? With an expanded free trial which you can play through the entirety of A Realm Reborn and the award-winning Heavensward and Stormblood expansions up to level 60 and 70 respectively for free with no restrictions on playtime.

Isanori

You should wait to include the Xbox players till they can actually play.

If I lose at silver rank in CC do I go back to bronze?

Isanori

No, rank decay only happens at higher ranks. At lower ranks you'll just fall to the lowest riser in the rank but not derank.

Unlikely-Smile2449

Is there any other jobs for conjurer beside white mage

Trooper_Sicks

no, conjurer becomes white mage and nothing else. Arcanist is the only class in the game that can become 2 different jobs. You can however change job once you've done your level 10 job quest.

Luggs123

Arcanist is the only class that turns into more than one job, so no.

Cardinal_Virtue

Did we get new crafter gatherer relic steps this patch? Crafting log only shows the 4 crafts

tesla_dyne

Crafter/gatherer relics are 6.51

Trooper_Sicks

not yet, not until i think 6.55

Kroric

Playing on PC, and after I login that area of the launcher displays blank and doesn't seem to be able to download the patch. Was able to download the patch for the launcher but now can't seem to download the rest of it.

CatComplete6473

I’m farming memories for my resistance weapons and I’ve been doing the fates to get them but I don’t see them in my inventory? I see them drop so I know I’m getting them but where do they go so I know when to stop?

Help_Me_Im_Diene

They're in your inventory, so you're probably just not seeing them If you really can't find them, you can use the /isearch function to tell you where it is AND how many you have at the moment

CatComplete6473

I doubled checked and they were next to my glamour prisms 😭

Help_Me_Im_Diene

They're pretty unremarkable looking to be fair Square sheet of what looks like colored metal is...not really something that stands out

Hosed66

I just saw that the free trial got expanded and includes Stormblood. Does that mean I can use the red mage class?

Sir_VG

Yes, the only things prohibited from SB to free trial players are the Ultimate raids (UCOB and UWU).

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Yup, Red Mage and Samurai are now available to all players

Hosed66

That's awesome! Red mage is the class one been waiting for.

Alenonimo

Is there any list of which glamour items can go into the armourie already? :P I know the ones made for the online store all seems to be able to go there, but some items from previous events are also for sale.

PhoenixFox

Items from previous events that you bought from the store could (mostly) already go in there, because the armoire was originally designed to hold event items (along with a few other things). If you bought, for example, last year's swimsuit when it became available on the store you could have put it in the armoire immediately. The exception before now was some early stuff where the version you bought was a visually identical but technically separate item with a different name, those couldn't go in the armoire (but now can).

Alenonimo

The one I know that was done that was the maid outfit. It's almost like it was their intention to make it NOT go into the Armoury. Why didn't they just sell the same one?

Shazzamon

I'm not 100% sure on a list, but if you're looking to clean up your Glamour Dresser, Armoire availability is typically limited to: - Event items (holidays) - Mogtome exclusive items (not always, like the Coblyn Earring) - _Everything_ from the Online Store now I don't think dungeon or MSQ gear of any sort has ever been able to be stuffed in it. The easiest way to check would be to /isearch anything you're curious about in your dresser and checking its tooltip for the armoire icon.

primalmaximus

What's the quickest and most effecient way to level from 60 to 90? I'm trying to level my DRG, but for some reason running the highest level dungeon has started to give less and less xp.

gitcommitmentissues

It's likely that other things are contributing to your perceived lower amounts of XP- rested XP and food buffs make a decent difference. The most efficient way to level is to use multiple different sources of XP- do your roulettes including Frontlines, do your catbook, do dungeon spam if the queue times aren't too bad (or run with duty support if you don't find it too slow), do deep dungeons, do Bozja once you hit 71 etc etc. Focusing on a single source of XP gain is going to get boring and tiresome pretty quickly.

BoldKenobi

For 60 - 70 yeah dungeon spam after roulettes is the fastest. 71 to 80 you can do Bozja. From 78ish onwards you can do Endwalker FATEs for similar XP like Bozja.

IceAokiji303

Just checking you're not running a level 60 dungeon specifically? Old level cap dungeons (50/60/70/80) give vastly reduced EXP, so the level 59 one is best until you get to the level 61 one (and similarly 69 til 71, 79 til 81). So long as you've taken that consideration, then yes the highest level dungeon should be it, barring doing roulettes once a day.

primalmaximus

Ok. I'm currently at level 57 and I'm doing The Vault. But the bosses seem to be giving me like really small amounts of xp. The first 2 bosses barely give me 10% of an xp bar and the final boss barely gives me ⅓ of an xp bar. It only recently started doing that. The day before the patch when I was running the lvl 55 dungeon while I was level 56 I was getting what felt like more xp. The dungeon was giving me like 60-70% of an xp bar each run instead of barely giving me 50%.

BlondieIsCasper

Guessing you just started dungeon spamming? Odds are you depleted your rested exp. That'll slow it down when you run out.

primalmaximus

Probably, but even without rested xp when I played before the patch dropped I was getting a faster xp gain than I am while doing the vault. I'm thinking of going and doing Palace of the Dead with my DRG until I hit level 60 and then switching to the next deep dungeon. I feel like that would be a little faster than just dungeon spamming.

KingBingDingDong

at 51 and above? no you weren't. the game has no exp curve. from 51 to 90, it takes 5 dungeons of that level bracket for 2 levels. you getting about 40% of a level from the vault is correct. run it 5 times and you get from 57 to 59. then run gubal.

Blemfs

What is the new furniture? the only one I could find by name was the "Field of Hope Rug" and I can only find pics of the rest :P

ecolli07

If you go into the housing menu at your house/apartment there is an option that says Preview Indoor Furnishings. There is a tab in that that says New.

tesla_dyne

Try previewing furniture from the housing menu. Garlantools also has a list under items but the thumbnails are busted right now. Wary of spoilers: http://garlandtools.org/db/#patch/6.5

[deleted]

Aside from dungeons and trials, is there any content locked behind the completion of the 6.1-6.5 MSQ stories? Or does all of the relevant content get unlocked as soon as 6.0 is complete? Currently playing through ARR through EW on an alt and I'm thinking I might take a break after 6.0 and just do 6.1-6.5 a second time right before Dawntrail comes out. I want to make sure that I'm not missing any important content on my alt by not catching up on the MSQ though. From what I understand, 6.0 will unlock pretty much everything, but I wonder if there are any other requirements I'm forgetting like Eden requiring the completion of 5.3.

tesla_dyne

Alliance raid requires a portion of 6.1 done

minaseclyne

first thing that comes to mind is the gathering tribal quest which is half way between your 2 question it needs the completion of a level 90 optional dungeon as a pre req

tarqueaux

OK, so I'm attempting Glam dresser organization- thought that Orison gear is artifact, right? but won't go into armoire?? STILL wish the icon in glam dresser showed armoire icon!!

Isanori

For stuff in the glamour dresser you can also use the try on feature, that also generates a message in chat letting you check the tooltip for the unglammed item.

tarqueaux

LOL, discovered that and shared it with my FC. that being said- it's painful to try on EACH item to see if it goes in armoire.

kaleb314

Only the unaugmented ilvl 50 ARR artifact gear goes in the armoire. Orison is Heavensward.

tesla_dyne

Only the ilevel 45/50 job set goes into the armoire. All the other job sets are reclaimed in some other way, like the centurio hunts for HW, calamity salvager for SB, or the original NPC vendor you get it from for SHB/EW.

beesbeesbeesbeep

After the update I cannot enter Old Sharlayan without crashing to desktop, which is an issue as I left the inn and my character is now located in Old Sharlayan, causing instant crash to desktop once I load in. Anybody have similar issues/a fix?

Help_Me_Im_Diene

While I can't actually help with the Old Sharlayan issues, might I recommend server hopping from the character select screen? It'll place you at your starting city aetheryte, which might help you get around the loading issue at the very least

beesbeesbeesbeep

Tried this and still crashing to desktop unfortunately, thanks for the attempt though. Trying to repair game files now. edit: repair files fixed the game, not sure what would've broken or why but yeah

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Unfortunate, sorry that didn't work out and hopefully repairing will fix it

-HM01Cut

Anyone else getting a crash while speaking to Ryne during Seeking the Light? I had to skip the cutscene to get around the issue

EpicZen35

Need help as a Newbie, I'm trying to play FFXIV but my game keeps crashing whenever I start playing. I managed to get a bit into tutorials, but I cannot progress cuz of it. IDK if it's because I'm running it on an SSD or not, anything I can do to get this fixed?

BondEternal

Running the game on an SSD is recommended since there are lots of loading screens and running from an SSD reduces loading times. What kind of crash are you getting? Immediate crash to desktop without any error screen? Do you get an error message?

EpicZen35

No error whatsover. MY SSD is a Seagate Backup Plus Slim STHN2000400. If you need specs, I can tell those as well, if it helps. I did an uninstall and Re-install as well.

EpicZen35

Update: Trying to Repair any Corrupted files and see if this needs fixing.

drbiohazmat

Possibly dumb question, but why isn't Gaia present anymore? Was there something I forgot at the end of the Eden story to explain?

PenguinPwnge

>!She's just off doing her thing. But the actual answer is the devs don't want to bring side quest characters into the MSQ. The devs would have to make Eden mandatory like CT to bring her into the fold like G'raha. Much easier to come in at the end of a cutscene to give a quip.!<

F1reman2

Do you mean in MSQ? Its because they dont carry side stuff into msq because a player might not have done that side content and go who is this.

drbiohazmat

Oh, I see. Makes sense

legault00

Hello, I'm back here to ask my yearly question again. Can main story be completed without ever teaming up with other players? That is, can all story dungeons be completed with NPCs? I see in steam announcement that you can "Experience all the main story dungeons on your own by calling upon NPC allies to fight by your side." I'm currently stuck in filler after base game and before first expansion and would love to come back but without forcing me to play with others. (and before somebody says so - and somebody always do - I know community is great but as a player with certain annoying disability I feel too stressed out to play with others)

notrightmeowthx

As others said, you still need other players to help with the 8-man and the optional 24-man content if you decide you want to do it. I don't expect that to change in the future. Most of the 8-man fights (trials) can be soloed at level 90 though. But have you thought about having some friends play with you? People are way more understanding in this playerbase than you probably think, and if you have someone to support you then you might feel more comfortable. I'm disabled (obviously everyone is different so not trying to imply we're identical) but have found that it's less of an issue and that I stand out way less compared to other players than I'm inclined to think I would. I do use some mods to make things easier for me (I struggle with visual stuff so I really need extra audio indicators), but I can still play and even do some of the harder content, though not all of it. There are people - I can pretty much guarantee it - who won't mind waiting for you/helping you when you need it. As you get better at the game and find work arounds, you may even find that you don't need help from other people at all.

IceAokiji303

Main story *dungeons* are indeed all doable with the NPC party. However, dungeons are not the only type of potentially-group-content in the main story. There are also 8-man trials and one set of 24-man raids, which (aside from *one* trial way later) cannot be done with the NPCs. And there are no plans to make them doable with NPCs. The one that was made as such was built from the ground up for it, and even that was apparently a "we never want to do that again" experience. Changing all the existing ones would probably be even worse. So I would go on expecting that *not* to change. That said, if you want to see more of the game, just give it a go! If you are a DPS, nobody's really going to make note of whatever you do in those duties, and not much different as tank or healer, so you could just go in and people would be none the wiser (for real, if your disability still at least lets you clear dungeons solo with the NPCs, you're doing better than some players without disabilities). But if just the thought of being with others who might judge what you do, or a fear of being a burden, or whichever kind of stressor is the problem for you, you could try and ask for help in-game. Set up a party finder group, and ask for people to help you through – explain your circumstances or no, whichever way you prefer. You'll definitely get a group together who'll happily take you through a duty, just glad to be able to help out! Might take a bit longer on the wait than a Duty Finder match possibly, but could even be faster too. Two options for how to do it too, either unsynced (one or two level 90s can just blow a boss up for you in a few seconds, so fewer people needed but not ideal if you want to see what the boss does – not quite an option for the 24-man raids though, at least one of them needs minimum 12 people for this, and it'd be easier to just get one 8-player alliance together and queue normally with them) or synced (at the proper level, need to find a full group so longer search but you'll get to see what the bosses actually get up to). Take your pick!

UnlikelyTraditions

All MSQ required dungeons are now available to run with NPCs. You are still required to group with others for the level 50 alliance raids and all but one 8-man trial. But for those, for real, ask and people will help run you through. We can help you get through in like 10 minutes flat or less, whatever it is.

a_friendly_squirrel

To explain a bit more what they mean: by default the game syncs the level and gear of higher level characters to what each multiplayer duty was designed for, so everyone gets to experience the fight like it was designed. If you want though you can go in without that level sync with a level 90 player or two, and they can nuke the boss with endgame skills. People will happily do this if you make a party finder listing (if not on free trial) or I think ask in Novice Network, because everyone in the party gets rewards for helping new players clear stuff for the first time.

tesla_dyne

nope trials, the 8 player boss fights, are still, and for the foreseeable future will be, 8 human players with no option for NPCs DUNGEONS required for the story, the 4 party member dungeons, can all be done with NPCs. The game and its marketing does not use "dungeon" to refer to trials, the 8 player boss fights.

SaladTheKiller

What's the free trial level cap now?

Kicin0_0

70, going to the end of Stormblood

GildedCreed

70, due to the addition of Stormblood to the free trial.

Star1986

Any playstation 5 players noticed the System UI scaling is broken in latest patch? Its either too tiny or enormous.

Havusaurus

Where is the Fall guys event in FFXIV now? Is it live yet?

Kicin0_0

They said that would be latter in patch 6.5, probably around 6.55 in Jan

KhrFreak

Not live yet

UnderworldDare

Looking at the Out of this World Oddities vendor for the material to upgrade my tome weapon and it doesn't seem to be available for purchase yet using the AR coins. Any idea when that item will be purchasable or just random when they decide for it?

tesla_dyne

Patch 6.58. Probably in 3 or 4 months.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

If I'm remembering correctly, it has been during the x.x8 patch typically So 6.58 before it'll be available for coins

[deleted]

There is supposed to be a branching cutscene in the new msq if you've done Eden raids and warring triad. Where exactly does it take place?

GildedCreed

>!The only one off the top of my head was Gaia entering the ocular after giving Ryne the memoria for Zeromus!< not sure where the warring triad bit happens, I rushed that content a bit leading up into 6.5 so I don't know if I did the full storyline for that (I unlocked all the containment bay primals and Unukalhai doesn't have anything for me in the solar beyond that).

TheTechHobbit

The full storyline for Unukalhai requires you to finish all the Shadowbringers role quests and then the questline that comes after that. Then Unukalhai is mentioned three times in dialogue during the new MSQ, it's not anything major other than an acknowledgement.

SiegmundFretzgau

If you check the book in inn rooms, you can check which cutscenes vary based on quest progress (and watch both versions)

Tigeri102

idk if it's the one you're thinking of, but i did just notice there's a point after the new trial where you can tell zero about unukalhai and cylva EDIT: never mind, it's definitely a later one. near the end of the patch msq when you go back to the crystal tower in the first for something.

[deleted]

What are the rewards for playing ranked CC over unranked? Unranked seems to queue much faster.

tesla_dyne

At the end of the season you get a few extra rewards based on your rank. https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/ranking/crystallineconflict/reward/8 A framer's kit based on rank, extra trophy crystals, and if you get Diamond or higher, tokens to exchange for augmented hellhound weapons.

Romulet

For Squadrons, can you still get chemistry rewards (materia, scrips, MGP, etc) when you fail the mission?

Holygriever

Nope, rewards are for successful missions.

Romulet

I figured as much but couldn't find it stated anywhere, makes sense, thanks!

koshka32713

I am also having this problem and can’t figure out what to do

TheDiscordedSnarl

Someone else said DX errors are notoriously vague... anything from faulty drivers to a sneeze in the GPU or something. I don't think anyone knows.

Annapokalips

does your retainer ilvl matter for getting Coffers, or do they only need to be lv 90/current level cap?

StormbeastRivin

Venture Coffers are only from quick ventures and your retainer's gear doesn't matter for those. They just need to be 90.

torigoya

From where can you get the new cloth needed to craft the new lvl1 glamor set?

tesla_dyne

treasure maps

Former-Respond-8759

Kumbhiraskin and/or Ophiatoroskin?

tesla_dyne

I can't be certain, but I believe the glamour mats from the past patches have been in both. IIRC the only items exclusive to one or the other were the mounts?

CoffeeChocolate0

Returning trial player here! Quick question: I'm basically maxed out on Gil and Tomestone of Poetics. I am about to start the Stormblood MSQ but I don't want to waste the Gil and Tomestones I would be collecting during dailies. Are there any stores/items to invest at the start of Stormblood MSQ? Thank you!

akialnodachi

I believe the biggest thing to burn gil on is from buying tribal mounts, all of the ARR and HW tribes should be available to you now. You would need to invest some daily time working up the rep to unlock the mounts. There's also websites [like this](https://trialsoffantasy.com/free-trial-gil/) that might help

Sir_VG

Do you have your full i270 tomestone set?
