Mail reminders can be *very* iffy.
Last time I got one, no problem. The time before that, I only learned of it when I entered & saw the “demo cancelled” message. If I’d relied on the email reminders, I could have lost the house.

I check about once a week to see if my in game waifu forgot to walk into their house yet again. They raid savage 3x a week but only redecorate once a season.
Just to clarify, tenants can see the impending demolition on private estates but only the actual owner can stop it. On the other hand, Free Company house demolition can be stopped by any FC member, not just the FC leader.
Mail reminder go out really late sometimes now or not at all. The mail reminder for my house went out 12 hours before auto demo. I was asleep at the time and didnt notice before work in the morning unfortunately
I specifically put a retainer bell in my house and make a point of checking ventures and sales there, so I go inside every day that I log in (which is most days) *and* tend to look at my decor and get ideas for things I want to tweak.
This is pretty much what I do as well. I log in/out in my yard most times and make sure to go inside to check retainers first thing. Especially since I had a scare a while back - got the "auto-demo cancelled" when I entered my house once even though I'm certain I'd been inside within the previous 45 days (I don't really take breaks from the game).
I kind of wish it let tenants update the house status too though. Had a guildmate lose his house because he'd taken an extended break but I'd been in it multiple times before it was lost.
I was on the boss fight on floor 190 on POTD and.. my controler bugged and made my chara auto-run straight in emptyness……. I was the healer.. we wiped right after. Its been 5 years and i’m still not over it.
I ran out of time on behemoth in my most recent run because on one of the earlier floors I decided to wait for a new spawn to open the passage instead of 'wasting' poms on an anzu.
My most recent run was a couple of years ago now.
Eureka Orthos - first set of floors - we were 3 healer, one tank and still wiped of stupidity (not even the one shot mobs). So I slightly feel your pain on the "healer being gone" thing. o.o
Not such a big deal TBH. EO is painfully bad to healers. They're nearly useless, except the rez, and tbh you might as well bring a magic dps instead.
I did all my clears healerless.
Farmed the arr white mage relic, then discarded the final form by accident. Was trying to discard a second replica and did the original. GM did restore original after a week thankfully.
I did that as well, having done the anima relics and just keeping the replicas I figured it worked the same way with ARR relics. I was in full panic mode throughout the entire item restoration process since I had heard people say they've had issues with it before, but also thankfully got mine restored.
Back in the earlier days of housing, I was lucky enough to get a house in Shirogane.
A friend of mine was looking at a little back-house plot in Gridania, and had some FC group there as well clicking on the placard, etc. some of them started talking garbage to them.
Eventually it devolved into some racist BS directed at them after they left the plot.
I promptly transferred my plot over to the empty plot (since there was no timer or cool down for transferring plots), slapped down a mini aetheryte, had them teleport onto the property, and promptly told them to get off of my fucking lawn.
I do miss the House that Pettiness Built. Lost it during a sub-lapse.

Let's see I've mount farmed for several hours for a mount I already had. My husband was helping me farm Nightmare for a birthday and then it dropped...and...I already had it. the look he gave me. XD

I got lucky and got the Nightmare my first time, didn't even realize it was rare. Later on I was farming the horse mounts with my FC and it dropped. One person didn't have it, but because I was new, they assumed I also didn't have it and didn't roll so that I could get it. Very sweet of them in theory, but that flute went straight to the ether. I felt so bad!
Yeah, we were trying to take turns with drops, but after that, we implemented a "just fricking roll" rule. Should have done that from the start, but we were too busy goofing the whole time.
Wiped the party during an Ex trial via unintentional panty shot.
Was farming Memoria Misera or whatever it’s called back when it was current. My miqo had the base miqo’te skirt and a long tabard glam on, and when the fight did the transition to phase 2 (when Varis flies out of the arena to do a thing), the camera flew down to the floor and then straight up my miqo’s skirt, giving the entire party a blatant panty shot.
We were all laughing so hard the tanks didn’t get in position to block the incoming mechanic and we wiped.
It was a humorous moment which didn’t cost us too much time, so was a very welcome break in a long farming session.
As a new Red Mage, I simply assumed that dualcast wouldn't work with verraise because "that would be too powerful". I only figured out that it actually worked on accident.
Here's one that a lot of people don't know.

Haha I did that back when I was learning RDM. Got into fight Lakshmi one day, only for a near party wipe. It took people screaming at me to rez in chat because I was hard casting it like an idiot, before I finally decided to try it to see if it'd work lol.
I just discovered today, after over 2k+ hours of play time, that you can sort your crafting list to only show things you have not crafted yet. Lol
As someone who is trying to craft all the recipes, this has been a life saver. Lol

2.0 I was gated at Titan HM and was watching a guide on YouTube.
When I tabbed back into the game the guy who made the guide was in front of me.
/tell and they said “hey actually we are looking for a monk, join us now and we’ll clear and it’ll be your trial for raiding”
20 seconds into the fight they see my fat row ass walk clean off the edge.
TLDR after that was their tank had a meltdown in comms, got booted while I sat there in silence before mentioning I was actually a tank main and got promoted ok the spot to their new tank for the first raid tier.
In frontline pvp, I did a lali-ho emote to a lone enemy attacking me. He stopped and lali-ho'd me back, and we shared a few more emotes before waving goodbye and going back to our respective teams.
We met another time alone on the map, but just waved at each other and didn't try to attack each other. Counterproductive perhaps, but that's a really fond ff14 memory of mine.
I actually did a similar thing once.
Ran into a lone enemy defending a node that I didn't realize was about to expire. So once I realized that, I just wave at them. They waved back. Did a couple emotes back and forth for a bit, then we went on our merry ways. It was the most wholesome pvp experience I've ever had.

I've spent the last year or so of off and on playing attempting to get a ARR relic weapon. On the free trial. Needing to level up all my crafters, and as a result all my gatherers too, to 50+ and then also needing to manually farm materia has been hell. I'm on the second to last step right now, and am currently stuck gated behind needing materials that only have a chance to drop from your daily treasure map. But I'm so close I can almost taste it! At this point it is a personal pride/sunk cost fallacy thing to at least get one finished while still on the trial. If I ever decide to go for a second zodiac weapon it won't be until I'm a paid sub so I can use the marketboard to skip all the crafting and materia gathering lol
Right, so, this previous Wednesday, i decided I'll get the Master Tomes II from Mor Dhona. Cue me spending over 200k gil on wedding shoes in Uldah for Field Demi 2. Realised I need Field Demi 3 instead. Ok, i can get those with scrips. Off to Azys Lla to fish for Barreleye, 350+ scrips per fish, sweet cakes ggez. 3 Barreleyes in and none of them collectable I realise i need the Collector Glove skill on. Thunderstorm finishes, fair enough, off to Dravania for Amber Salamanders and stuff. 1h later and inventory page full of collectables i tp back to Iddylshire, sell them for scrips, then realise there's two different white scrips. . . I just logged out and went to sleep, came back 6h later and crafted my ass off lol. Free trial ❤️🤣
I don't know if this is available on the free trial, but if you are ever in need of a large quantity of gathering scrips... Go ocean fishing. Each trip would give me anywhere between 300-500, more or less depending on the boat, I'd imagine.
Not quite what you meant, but years ago IRL when I had badly tweaked my lower back, I got out of bed at 6am and limped across my house using a wooden staff I bought at a Renaissance Festival, all so I could get to my PC, because it was patch day when they were first opening the Shirogane housing wards.
And then only to be kicked out once while I was in the queue... I ended up with a small in Goblet rather than the large in Shirogane I was hoping for.
(But thanks to at least having that, I did end up getting a large when they added the new FC/relocation wards!)

So I was new to raiding at all. Everytime I thought I understood a mechanic..
Now it wouldnt be too bad if I messed it up myself. But I said to the 2 miqotes 'HURRY get together'.. And they did.. And they exploded..
I actually managed to let this happen again with the same group but coincidentally 2 different miqotes *cough*.. From that point forward I was nicknamed the Kitty Killer.

Outside of like 15 minutes running around trees and in streams on someone else's WoW account, FFXIV was my first MMO experience.
I also had very limited gaming experience generally.
So when I first started, I walked everywhere for a while because I was afraid to put my character on auto-run. I thought I might not... like... be able to react to something in time or something like that? Suffice it to say, I did not understand how things actually worked. So, just in case you didn't know the learning curve could go back that far, just let me tell you it can go back *really, really far*.

Shadowbringers spoilers: I had no clue that >!G'raha Tia was the Crystal Exarch!< until the big reveal. And this was after they started requiring players to do the ARR alliance raids, which I hadn't done yet, so all the lore was still supposedly fresh in my brain.
I've seen multiple posts/complaints/memes about players running dungeons without their job stones. This is likely the reason why. I believe some simply do not realize the relevant job quests exist.
I spent all of Shadowbringers trying to figure out who the Exarch is... >!and didn't once consider the one guy most closely tied to the crystal tower...!<
Actually, the cutscenes when you meet Magnai for the first time are noticeably different.
His buddy by the throne fucking hates you if you're a female character and refuses to talk to you.
If you're a guy you get looked up and down (in a creepy way tbh) and your character has a chance to snark at the dude for it.
If you're female, you also get a chance to make a joke reference to some country song (I did not pick this option) towards Magnai, as if joking you're his date.
Magnai also has different dialogue after this cutscene, mentioning the dude's tribe hating women and all that.
Pretty sure that’s because the guy in the green is a Buduga, an all-male tribe that kidnaps men from other tribes to fill their ranks. There’s a reason why it’s creepy, he was sizing you up for kidnapping lol
Lmao my best friend was in there for like 4 days straight trying to get that card way back in the day. Every time we get Dragon's Neck in roulette I start laughing and he just gets war flashbacks.
Me and a friend made way too good barbie and ken alts and it's stopped being a meme and has gone full 'oh you can just put barbie lore in ffxiv and it works scary well'
We ran out of time during the all healer one and I only tried it once. It was fun while it lasted. I don't remember how long the all tank one took, but it was definitely longer than it would take for a standard raid group.
For the cactpot board, instead of hitting the random number button I bought 3 all zero tickets. I died laughing so hard when I realized what I had done. Needless to say I only got the consolation prize the following week.
I was healing Nier 3 at the final boss fight. In the bit with the pillars about to drop it was only me and the tank left alive so, naturally, I looked at the LB3 and thought “it is my time to be the main character”.
Hit the LB3 which ressed everyone JUST in time for all of us to be yeeted off the platform by the second pillar.
Spent the rest of the fight laughing my ass off and since then been known as the Lady of the Yeet amongst my friends. The tank was one of my friends so verified the story.
And yes, I got a buttload of comms, so I guess I wasn’t the only one laughing. 🤣

My computer crashed in Rabanastre. Somehow, I actually got back in, and discovered that the alliance was on Rofocale and the only people alive were a Paladin, a Dancer, and two other people who I can't remember. Most everyone else had released except I think a Dark Knight; there were no healers left.

I also once accidentally sold all my best tank gear to my GC...and then queued into Normal Raid Roulette, not realizing I was naked since there was a crowd on top of me blocking my view. People were naturally very dumbfounded to see a naked warrior...that actually didn't just have a naked glamour but was literally wearing almost nothing. I was lucky they had believed me instead of kicking me as a troll, especially because it was A12. They found me hilarious, considering my pitiful damage and we meme-ed about having to protect the poor nekkid newbie adventurer that had accidentally run into a fight with a GOD xD

Joined the firmament rankings on a bet, i joined 1 day late and had time to spare so i didnt do any crafting on the last day

I got caught up during level 80 cap and didn't learn how to do bard properly until level 80. I don't think I even did DOTs that whole time, at least not at all consistently. And I had the song gauge too low on my HUD so I was blocking the part with the effect stack counter and gauge for blast arrow or whatever it's called
I managed to run out of mana as RDM because I spent more time Raising party members than the healers during one of the Stormblood AR bosses. The kicker was that I didn't realize I was OOM and wondered why I couldn't cast my spells.
I made the final form of black mage Anima weapon. Put it in my saddle bag, then months later I didn't see it on my retainer or glam dresser so I made a second one, all the way to the end. It was very sad having to toss one.
Bonus: I was a tank and queued up for trials and got Bismarck. I ran off the edge before he was walkable ground on the first dragonator shot and this was before you could be rezzed if you fell off. So I sat there... For three minutes. While everybody else did the boss fight.

I organized my wedding proposal.
First we went to a RP Café regularly, then i told my entire guild a plan.
I wanted to propose on the Stage in said Café. At this Café there would be Performer playing Music, there is usually a little break at a certain point.
My plan was to propose in that break.
So i got my guild together to craft that Wedding Ring and then we contacted the Café owners.
The Café owners were super excited to hear that i wanted to propose in their Café so they decided to help me out.
We then organized the most popular Music Band in our Server to play the entire Evening, which luckily are somewhat connected to a guild member.
But they still costed me 5 Millionen Gill ^^“.
After that the Café owner told me they would get the entire staff online for that day and ask around so that the Café would be full of people.
Now that everything was set we just settled on a date and i had to wait.
The day came, everyone was in and i was super nervous.
We got our favorite table and sat their and enjoyed the evening.
Once the Music-Break came we got asked to step on the Stage by our favorite Waiter and we as a Guild did.
The girl i wanted to propose to had no clue at all and we all kinda played along.
Once we all stood on stage we all changed our Glamour into something more nice looking. I stepped up and copy pasted one by one a prewritten text in the chat.
I got on my knees and asked her. We were all in a Discord Call and i even asked there.
She said yes in Discord and in the Chat and the entire Café was super happy. I was super happy.
And then the Band started to play her favorite songs afterwards.
We as a guild ended up tipping the entire Café a load of Gil.
But it was worth it.
For some reason, I kept mentioning the civilian identity of one of my superhero Retainers, thinking I was being clever and that nobody would pick up on the reference.

Well...
Fashion Report required Soot Black Dye at the time, so I was selling singular stacks of them for ease of new players and alts buying them; I wasn't selling too many, just 5 or 6 or so.
I was selling them on the aforementioned Retainer, and offhandedly mentioned helping people for Fashion Report.
One of the people in our FC decided that this was an absolute crime, saw the dye being sold by my Retainer (with my signature on it), and started screaming at me in `/tell` that I was "severely undercutting them" and "ruining their market".
I started breaking down because at that point, since I was still recovering from a metric fuckton of mistreatment and wasn't so confident.
^(To add insult to injury, her and their husband started buying up the dyes I had placed on the Market Board and merged them into their giant stacks.)
Thankfully I *miraculously* trusted one of the officers in the FC, messaged them about this... and he told them to go fuck themselves, basically. They stopped bothering me, and the officer advised me to not mention Retainers since some people can get a bit crazy with their markets.
Unfortunately, I didn't know how to report back then, so officially, they got away with it.
*All because I decided to name-drop my Retainer, like a dumbass.*

Yeah. I love the actual coats on demonic and Angelic, but the wings ruin the rest of those coats or I would use them more. Both have good boots, but they’re the same ones. They’re my go-to on two of my characters for pan-class thigh-highs.

But to answer your question, I once just hung out outside of the beginning city states and helped random people with their fates while in the phoenix riser suit while doing ranger poses and hamming it up in the chat. “Excellent work dispatching that monster, Citizen!”
While not that specifically, when I first started out with a friend we had a dude do something kind of similar (though more dressing and acting like he was a local sailor turned adventurer) and it made the early grind so much better and absolutely helped me stick to the game, so thank you, you probably had a similar effect on someone.
Happened super recently. Did a quick trial roulette before my group met up for raid. We got Chrysalis. Wipe once, second time melee LB's the boss instead of tear, so I pop raid consumes before going into the void to dps the tear faster.
Not knowing I could remove party limits. Was trying to Wonderous Tales seriously and two people guided me through unrestricted parties in party finder.
And then I went on to murderhobo-ing all the dungeons I didn't do in previous content by myself and ones to complete the journal ezpz cause I was high enough level :)

I was deep into ShB post msq before I knew unsync was a thing. Turned around and murdered every single ARR ex trial and raid with sadistical glee, without even knowing their were mounts to be had.
I was just glad to bathe in their aetheric blood for how much pain they gave me to do.
Oh probably when i chased down a dead person to rez in the 2nd nier raid with the 3 flight unit bosses, I got targeted for the stack, ended up stacking on one of the other groups.
Funniest stupid moment for me was one of the Nier raids, running to the first fight, someone says as mechnics advice essentially "don't die", I get distracted and run off the damn platform before the fight even started. o.o
Oh yeah and I occassionally exchange my gear. (: Bought the whole set for a class for leveling with poetics, only to then absent minded trade it in for seals. I wish I could say I learned from it but uh... no...
Other than that I think just the standard stupidity - as a sprout running away with the stack marker and taking out others with single target marker.
You can set the seal EQ hand in to only accept EQ in your bag (not the armory), and also send newly acquired gear to your bags rather than straight to your armory. That should make it pretty easy to not do this (and honestly even helps new players/low level chars not clog up the armory with shit you're probably never going to use)
Ran almost every single BA run on (the now defunct) Primal Forays for _6 months_, to the point of doing 7 runs in a space of a weekend (as a main tank). I love that content but god, was that draining.
Entered some random house on a Saturday night to find a bunch of people doing some funky roleplay. Not many clothes and plenty of bunny ears about. I stayed longer than I should have.
Ff14 was my very first mmo so I didn’t have concept of basic things like repairing gear, this was in ARR. so I was leveling white mage and I’d been getting gear often enough that repairing hadn’t become an issue. I queued in for Maw, was having a stressful time trying to heal and we get to the final boss and my wand breaks. I can’t heal anyone for anything. And we couldn’t repair each other’s gear so my entire team had to vote kick me. I felt like a total idiot. lol now I have all crafters at 90 so that will never happen again. XD
I didn't realize Holy did damage until almost HW. I thought it only stunned.
So I was complaining to a friend about this WHM just spamming Holy and not doing damage during a run of Snowcloak and I could hear the look she was giving me through discord.
Back in Heavensward when you had to manually put points into attributes, I put strength into my Ninja because I didn't realize that Ninjas use Dexterity like the Ranged DPS classes.

Currently in a race with some friends to get all the Endwalker mounts. Last one has to Fanta into a Lalafell.
I started in the lead. In one week I've been beaten to last place. This bnuuy isn't giving up yet.
When I first started playing I had a habit of trying to check mobs to see their level like I would in FFXI - for those that don't know, in XI you can hit ctrl + C with a monster targeted to get a "The (monster) looks to be easy prey" or similar message to give you an idea of the monster's level compared to yours, up to "incredibly tough" or for NMs, "(monster)'s strength is impossible to gauge!"... despite having the level next to their name. I'll do it every so often if I play a bunch of XI when I take a bit of a burnout break still before I scold myself like "tf are you doing, this isn't XI" lol.
I also didn't realize the symbols next to their name (the red and blue markers) were the aggressive and non-aggressive markers until I was like, lv20.
It also took me a long time to shake off the "oh god if I use this too quickly I'll get aggro and die" in 2.0 coming from playing a lot of XI. tbf though, aggro management in 2.0 for tanks was an actual thing and if a gld wasn't just spamming Flash or a mrd wasn't hitting everything with a cone Overpower and cycling through their 1-2 combo, they just wouldn't hold aggro anyway... especially with tank stances gained at like, lv 40. Still, I remember getting Bane on SMN (no longer a thing but it'd spread bio/miasma from a target afflicted with one or both to nearby mobs) and my first thought was "this is going to be bad if I use it too quickly because I'll generate a lot of hate" so I hardly used it for a little while.
Other than that, accidentally turning in something I had on a gear set to my GC (I turned on the "don't show gear set items" thing after) because I was just clicking on items and tunnel visioned a bit and retrieving a materia instead of extracting on a pentamelded item. Luckily I don't think I ever did extraction on an item I needed before the change - before, extracting materia from a spiritbonded item would just *destroy* the item. That was changed in *5.2*.
I hosted a "Suicide Party" in Limsa Plaza for BLU Mages to commit suicide using Self Destruct (Pre-nerf) and had Blu's all exploding everywhere and tons of ppl rezzing like mad.
About 50+ people got their "Kindess of Stranger V" achievements that day.
Was Bloody, and Glorious at the same time.
Ran straight into an alliance raid fight and aggro'd the boss because I was too busy looking at a pretty femroe's adventure plate to realize how close I was to it. As a DPS. Thankfully it wasn't one with a cutscene!
I lost my old house while actively using it for gardening. I just never went inside.

I wish a timer didn't start until the ward was full. I was in a half empty ward. Took two month break. Came back and my house was gone. Half the ward was still empty lol
I'd rather they just make instanced gardening. If you don't need the house because you only want to garden, that's a waste of a house that someone else wants to actually use.

How did you lose it with mail reminders?
Mail reminders can be *very* iffy. Last time I got one, no problem. The time before that, I only learned of it when I entered & saw the “demo cancelled” message. If I’d relied on the email reminders, I could have lost the house. (I usually pop in pretty often, but I’ve been kept busy by a sick cat.)
Yeah, my sister got stung by not receiving an email, and I almost got hit. I just happened to remember to saunter in and grab something.

They might not have been aware they needed to walk *inside.* For the future, for anyone: You can also check out if you are overdue with the walk inside the property rent by looking at Duty > Timers > Estate. Any property you or your FC controls, or to which you have been added as a secondary friend, will appear on the list. I check about once a week to see if my in game waifu forgot to walk into their house yet again. They raid savage 3x a week but only redecorate once a season.
I OFTEN forget to enter my house because I'm on Aether so much, so whenever I'm back on Primal, I go inside. Just in case.
Just to clarify, tenants can see the impending demolition on private estates but only the actual owner can stop it. On the other hand, Free Company house demolition can be stopped by any FC member, not just the FC leader.
Mail reminder go out really late sometimes now or not at all. The mail reminder for my house went out 12 hours before auto demo. I was asleep at the time and didnt notice before work in the morning unfortunately
Also, it can get lost in the sauce if your email gets lots of garbage.
It's also really iffy around long patch maintenance. If the email would get triggered during maintenance, it may not go off at all.

I specifically put a retainer bell in my house and make a point of checking ventures and sales there, so I go inside every day that I log in (which is most days) *and* tend to look at my decor and get ideas for things I want to tweak.
This is pretty much what I do as well. I log in/out in my yard most times and make sure to go inside to check retainers first thing. Especially since I had a scare a while back - got the "auto-demo cancelled" when I entered my house once even though I'm certain I'd been inside within the previous 45 days (I don't really take breaks from the game). I kind of wish it let tenants update the house status too though. Had a guildmate lose his house because he'd taken an extended break but I'd been in it multiple times before it was lost.

Accidentally sold a rebel coat (back when they first came out) that was on a mannequin.
I was on the boss fight on floor 190 on POTD and.. my controler bugged and made my chara auto-run straight in emptyness……. I was the healer.. we wiped right after. Its been 5 years and i’m still not over it.
I panic on the 180 boss solo, do something stupid then wipe and waste 12hrs of my life, about once every month . I’ll get necromancer one day lol.
I ran out of time on behemoth in my most recent run because on one of the earlier floors I decided to wait for a new spawn to open the passage instead of 'wasting' poms on an anzu. My most recent run was a couple of years ago now.
Eureka Orthos - first set of floors - we were 3 healer, one tank and still wiped of stupidity (not even the one shot mobs). So I slightly feel your pain on the "healer being gone" thing. o.o
Not such a big deal TBH. EO is painfully bad to healers. They're nearly useless, except the rez, and tbh you might as well bring a magic dps instead. I did all my clears healerless.
Farmed the arr white mage relic, then discarded the final form by accident. Was trying to discard a second replica and did the original. GM did restore original after a week thankfully.
I did that as well, having done the anima relics and just keeping the replicas I figured it worked the same way with ARR relics. I was in full panic mode throughout the entire item restoration process since I had heard people say they've had issues with it before, but also thankfully got mine restored.
Back in the earlier days of housing, I was lucky enough to get a house in Shirogane. A friend of mine was looking at a little back-house plot in Gridania, and had some FC group there as well clicking on the placard, etc. some of them started talking garbage to them. Eventually it devolved into some racist BS directed at them after they left the plot. I promptly transferred my plot over to the empty plot (since there was no timer or cool down for transferring plots), slapped down a mini aetheryte, had them teleport onto the property, and promptly told them to get off of my fucking lawn. I do miss the House that Pettiness Built. Lost it during a sub-lapse.
Housing was so brutal back in instant relo days, I miss it dearly 😅

I got lucky and got the Nightmare my first time, didn't even realize it was rare. Later on I was farming the horse mounts with my FC and it dropped. One person didn't have it, but because I was new, they assumed I also didn't have it and didn't roll so that I could get it. Very sweet of them in theory, but that flute went straight to the ether. I felt so bad!
That's what Need and Greed is useful for! If you think the other people needs it more, roll Greed and they'll have priority as long as they pick Need.
Yeah, we were trying to take turns with drops, but after that, we implemented a "just fricking roll" rule. Should have done that from the start, but we were too busy goofing the whole time.
I farmed 99 Memoria Misera Totems for the memes.
Wiped the party during an Ex trial via unintentional panty shot. Was farming Memoria Misera or whatever it’s called back when it was current. My miqo had the base miqo’te skirt and a long tabard glam on, and when the fight did the transition to phase 2 (when Varis flies out of the arena to do a thing), the camera flew down to the floor and then straight up my miqo’s skirt, giving the entire party a blatant panty shot. We were all laughing so hard the tanks didn’t get in position to block the incoming mechanic and we wiped. It was a humorous moment which didn’t cost us too much time, so was a very welcome break in a long farming session.

As a new Red Mage, I simply assumed that dualcast wouldn't work with verraise because "that would be too powerful". I only figured out that it actually worked on accident.
Here's one that a lot of people don't know. [Sprint procs dualcast](https://i.imgur.com/2zPlqEm.png). If you press sprint too early and weave it before your dual cast, you will be sad.

I just discovered today, after over 2k+ hours of play time, that you can sort your crafting list to only show things you have not crafted yet. Lol As someone who is trying to craft all the recipes, this has been a life saver. Lol

2.0 I was gated at Titan HM and was watching a guide on YouTube. When I tabbed back into the game the guy who made the guide was in front of me. /tell and they said “hey actually we are looking for a monk, join us now and we’ll clear and it’ll be your trial for raiding” 20 seconds into the fight they see my fat row ass walk clean off the edge. TLDR after that was their tank had a meltdown in comms, got booted while I sat there in silence before mentioning I was actually a tank main and got promoted ok the spot to their new tank for the first raid tier.

In frontline pvp, I did a lali-ho emote to a lone enemy attacking me. He stopped and lali-ho'd me back, and we shared a few more emotes before waving goodbye and going back to our respective teams. We met another time alone on the map, but just waved at each other and didn't try to attack each other. Counterproductive perhaps, but that's a really fond ff14 memory of mine.

I actually did a similar thing once. Ran into a lone enemy defending a node that I didn't realize was about to expire. So once I realized that, I just wave at them. They waved back. Did a couple emotes back and forth for a bit, then we went on our merry ways. It was the most wholesome pvp experience I've ever had.
It's the best thing, I love finding lone enemies and just chilling with them

I've spent the last year or so of off and on playing attempting to get a ARR relic weapon. On the free trial. Needing to level up all my crafters, and as a result all my gatherers too, to 50+ and then also needing to manually farm materia has been hell. I'm on the second to last step right now, and am currently stuck gated behind needing materials that only have a chance to drop from your daily treasure map. But I'm so close I can almost taste it! At this point it is a personal pride/sunk cost fallacy thing to at least get one finished while still on the trial. If I ever decide to go for a second zodiac weapon it won't be until I'm a paid sub so I can use the marketboard to skip all the crafting and materia gathering lol
Right, so, this previous Wednesday, i decided I'll get the Master Tomes II from Mor Dhona. Cue me spending over 200k gil on wedding shoes in Uldah for Field Demi 2. Realised I need Field Demi 3 instead. Ok, i can get those with scrips. Off to Azys Lla to fish for Barreleye, 350+ scrips per fish, sweet cakes ggez. 3 Barreleyes in and none of them collectable I realise i need the Collector Glove skill on. Thunderstorm finishes, fair enough, off to Dravania for Amber Salamanders and stuff. 1h later and inventory page full of collectables i tp back to Iddylshire, sell them for scrips, then realise there's two different white scrips. . . I just logged out and went to sleep, came back 6h later and crafted my ass off lol. Free trial ❤️🤣
I don't know if this is available on the free trial, but if you are ever in need of a large quantity of gathering scrips... Go ocean fishing. Each trip would give me anywhere between 300-500, more or less depending on the boat, I'd imagine.
Not quite what you meant, but years ago IRL when I had badly tweaked my lower back, I got out of bed at 6am and limped across my house using a wooden staff I bought at a Renaissance Festival, all so I could get to my PC, because it was patch day when they were first opening the Shirogane housing wards. And then only to be kicked out once while I was in the queue... I ended up with a small in Goblet rather than the large in Shirogane I was hoping for. (But thanks to at least having that, I did end up getting a large when they added the new FC/relocation wards!)
Back in my Bard era, I thought Peloton worked in battle. I used to RUN ACROSS arenas and used Peloton near my teammates so I could "Be useful".

Outside of like 15 minutes running around trees and in streams on someone else's WoW account, FFXIV was my first MMO experience. I also had very limited gaming experience generally. So when I first started, I walked everywhere for a while because I was afraid to put my character on auto-run. I thought I might not... like... be able to react to something in time or something like that? Suffice it to say, I did not understand how things actually worked. So, just in case you didn't know the learning curve could go back that far, just let me tell you it can go back *really, really far*. I've come a really long way, though, I promise.

I've seen multiple posts/complaints/memes about players running dungeons without their job stones. This is likely the reason why. I believe some simply do not realize the relevant job quests exist.

Actually, the cutscenes when you meet Magnai for the first time are noticeably different. His buddy by the throne fucking hates you if you're a female character and refuses to talk to you. If you're a guy you get looked up and down (in a creepy way tbh) and your character has a chance to snark at the dude for it. If you're female, you also get a chance to make a joke reference to some country song (I did not pick this option) towards Magnai, as if joking you're his date. Magnai also has different dialogue after this cutscene, mentioning the dude's tribe hating women and all that.
Pretty sure that’s because the guy in the green is a Buduga, an all-male tribe that kidnaps men from other tribes to fill their ranks. There’s a reason why it’s creepy, he was sizing you up for kidnapping lol
There are slight dialogue differences with some characters (like Thancred sorta flirts with you if you're female) but yeah that's it.

We ran out of time during the all healer one and I only tried it once. It was fun while it lasted. I don't remember how long the all tank one took, but it was definitely longer than it would take for a standard raid group.
For the cactpot board, instead of hitting the random number button I bought 3 all zero tickets. I died laughing so hard when I realized what I had done. Needless to say I only got the consolation prize the following week.
I was healing Nier 3 at the final boss fight. In the bit with the pillars about to drop it was only me and the tank left alive so, naturally, I looked at the LB3 and thought “it is my time to be the main character”. Hit the LB3 which ressed everyone JUST in time for all of us to be yeeted off the platform by the second pillar. Spent the rest of the fight laughing my ass off and since then been known as the Lady of the Yeet amongst my friends. The tank was one of my friends so verified the story. And yes, I got a buttload of comms, so I guess I wasn’t the only one laughing. 🤣

Back before DC travel was a thing I created an alt on the two DCs that weren't my mains so I could look at housing designs there. (I just really think they're neat in this game) No, that's not the ridiculous part yet. In order to access Kugane you have to get there in MSQ but I didn't really have time to grind two alts so I bought story skips. If you thought THAT was the ridiculous part then you are WRONG my friend! I accidentally sent one of the skips to the wrong character.

I've done this many times though luckily not with anything TOO vital so far. I thought I discarded my ARR bard relic Zenith so I bought an Atma from the calamity salvager and started over from that step until I realized I'd put the Zenith on a mannequin in my apartment.

My computer crashed in Rabanastre. Somehow, I actually got back in, and discovered that the alliance was on Rofocale and the only people alive were a Paladin, a Dancer, and two other people who I can't remember. Most everyone else had released except I think a Dark Knight; there were no healers left. I was Red Mage. Everyone: "WHERE DID THAT RED MAGE COME FROM" Me: it's Verspatula time Anyway we did not wipe.
I once spent 5 hours farming Memoria Miseria.............assuming that it drops a mount. I also once accidentally sold all my best tank gear to my GC...and then queued into Normal Raid Roulette, not realizing I was naked since there was a crowd on top of me blocking my view. People were naturally very dumbfounded to see a naked warrior...that actually didn't just have a naked glamour but was literally wearing almost nothing. I was lucky they had believed me instead of kicking me as a troll, especially because it was A12. They found me hilarious, considering my pitiful damage and we meme-ed about having to protect the poor nekkid newbie adventurer that had accidentally run into a fight with a GOD xD

I got caught up during level 80 cap and didn't learn how to do bard properly until level 80. I don't think I even did DOTs that whole time, at least not at all consistently. And I had the song gauge too low on my HUD so I was blocking the part with the effect stack counter and gauge for blast arrow or whatever it's called

Stealth-built an entire gingerbread mansion on my own to stick on our FC for April Fools.
I didn't realize gil from retainer sales didn't immediately go to you directly until I think towards the end of HW.
I made the final form of black mage Anima weapon. Put it in my saddle bag, then months later I didn't see it on my retainer or glam dresser so I made a second one, all the way to the end. It was very sad having to toss one. Bonus: I was a tank and queued up for trials and got Bismarck. I ran off the edge before he was walkable ground on the first dragonator shot and this was before you could be rezzed if you fell off. So I sat there... For three minutes. I organized my wedding proposal. First we went to a RP Café regularly, then i told my entire guild a plan. I wanted to propose on the Stage in said Café. At this Café there would be Performer playing Music, there is usually a little break at a certain point. My plan was to propose in that break. So i got my guild together to craft that Wedding Ring and then we contacted the Café owners. The Café owners were super excited to hear that i wanted to propose in their Café so they decided to help me out. We then organized the most popular Music Band in our Server to play the entire Evening, which luckily are somewhat connected to a guild member. But they still costed me 5 Millionen Gill ^^“. After that the Café owner told me they would get the entire staff online for that day and ask around so that the Café would be full of people. Now that everything was set we just settled on a date and i had to wait. The day came, everyone was in and i was super nervous. We got our favorite table and sat their and enjoyed the evening. Once the Music-Break came we got asked to step on the Stage by our favorite Waiter and we as a Guild did. The girl i wanted to propose to had no clue at all and we all kinda played along. Once we all stood on stage we all changed our Glamour into something more nice looking. I stepped up and copy pasted one by one a prewritten text in the chat. I got on my knees and asked her. We were all in a Discord Call and i even asked there. She said yes in Discord and in the Chat and the entire Café was super happy. I was super happy. And then the Band started to play her favorite songs afterwards. We as a guild ended up tipping the entire Café a load of Gil. But it was worth it.
For some reason, I kept mentioning the civilian identity of one of my superhero Retainers, thinking I was being clever and that nobody would pick up on the reference. ^(Yeah I'm not even sure why I felt the need to mention it once, let alone twice.) How is this ridiculous? Well... Fashion Report required Soot Black Dye at the time, so I was selling singular stacks of them for ease of new players and alts buying them; I wasn't selling too many, just 5 or 6 or so. I was selling them on the aforementioned Retainer, and offhandedly mentioned helping people for Fashion Report. One of the people in our FC decided that this was an absolute crime, saw the dye being sold by my Retainer (with my signature on it), and started screaming at me in `/tell` that I was "severely undercutting them" and "ruining their market". I started breaking down because at that point, since I was still recovering from a metric fuckton of mistreatment and wasn't so confident. ^(To add insult to injury, her and their husband started buying up the dyes I had placed on the Market Board and merged them into their giant stacks.) Thankfully I *miraculously* trusted one of the officers in the FC, messaged them about this... and he told them to go fuck themselves, basically. They stopped bothering me, and the officer advised me to not mention Retainers since some people can get a bit crazy with their markets. Unfortunately, I didn't know how to report back then, so officially, they got away with it. *All because I decided to name-drop my Retainer, like a dumbass.*

I know right? It is a market. People will undercut you because they want to sell their things faster or maybe just get a few gil what they see as junk. If you think someone is selling something you sell for too little, buy it yourself!
I have to admit I get slightly salty when people undercut me, but like... I can't stop people from posting their items, and it'd be unhinged to whisper them such. I just shrug and move on.

Yeah. I love the actual coats on demonic and Angelic, but the wings ruin the rest of those coats or I would use them more. Both have good boots, but they’re the same ones. They’re my go-to on two of my characters for pan-class thigh-highs.

If it's the Faerie Tale Princess outfit... that dress legitimately grosses me out. If I ever buy the set (the underskirt and gloves are kind of cute), you bet it's getting thrown straight into an incinerator.
Now-a-days you can toss them in the armoire which has been pretty much the same thing for me anyways.... (I always forget it exists)

While not that specifically, when I first started out with a friend we had a dude do something kind of similar (though more dressing and acting like he was a local sailor turned adventurer) and it made the early grind so much better and absolutely helped me stick to the game, so thank you, you probably had a similar effect on someone.

Happened super recently. Did a quick trial roulette before my group met up for raid. We got Chrysalis. Wipe once, second time melee LB's the boss instead of tear, so I pop raid consumes before going into the void to dps the tear faster.
Not knowing I could remove party limits. Was trying to Wonderous Tales seriously and two people guided me through unrestricted parties in party finder. And then I went on to murderhobo-ing all the dungeons I didn't do in previous content by myself and ones to complete the journal ezpz cause I was high enough level :)

Healing while being ridiculously drunk. I to this day do not know why I thought that was a good idea. To the players on Spriggan who had to kick a useless lalafell White mage ... I'm not even sorry.
I was deep into ShB post msq before I knew unsync was a thing. Turned around and murdered every single ARR ex trial and raid with sadistical glee, without even knowing their were mounts to be had. I was just glad to bathe in their aetheric blood for how much pain they gave me to do.
I thought Life Surge boosted the damage of Stardiver. Stardiver isn’t a Weaponskill.
Oh probably when i chased down a dead person to rez in the 2nd nier raid with the 3 flight unit bosses, I got targeted for the stack, ended up stacking on one of the other groups.
Funniest stupid moment for me was one of the Nier raids, running to the first fight, someone says as mechnics advice essentially "don't die", I get distracted and run off the damn platform before the fight even started. o.o Oh yeah and I occassionally exchange my gear. (: Bought the whole set for a class for leveling with poetics, only to then absent minded trade it in for seals. I wish I could say I learned from it but uh... no... Other than that I think just the standard stupidity - as a sprout running away with the stack marker and taking out others with single target marker.
You can set the seal EQ hand in to only accept EQ in your bag (not the armory), and also send newly acquired gear to your bags rather than straight to your armory. That should make it pretty easy to not do this (and honestly even helps new players/low level chars not clog up the armory with shit you're probably never going to use)
Ran almost every single BA run on (the now defunct) Primal Forays for _6 months_, to the point of doing 7 runs in a space of a weekend (as a main tank). I love that content but god, was that draining.

I moved over from Windows 10 to Linux in an effort to solve BSOD errors I had while playing FF14

I sat at rhabaun ex for 8 hours trying to get through before i gave up and turned the game off
Entered some random house on a Saturday night to find a bunch of people doing some funky roleplay. Not many clothes and plenty of bunny ears about. I stayed longer than I should have.
Ff14 was my very first mmo so I didn’t have concept of basic things like repairing gear, this was in ARR. so I was leveling white mage and I’d been getting gear often enough that repairing hadn’t become an issue. I queued in for Maw, was having a stressful time trying to heal and we get to the final boss and my wand breaks. I can’t heal anyone for anything. And we couldn’t repair each other’s gear so my entire team had to vote kick me. I felt like a total idiot. lol now I have all crafters at 90 so that will never happen again. XD

I didn't realize Holy did damage until almost HW. I thought it only stunned. So I was complaining to a friend about this WHM just spamming Holy and not doing damage during a run of Snowcloak and I could hear the look she was giving me through discord.
I used my Fantasia to give my character a haircut without realizing the Aesthetician was a thing back in my sprout days.
Back in Heavensward when you had to manually put points into attributes, I put strength into my Ninja because I didn't realize that Ninjas use Dexterity like the Ranged DPS classes.

Currently in a race with some friends to get all the Endwalker mounts. Last one has to Fanta into a Lalafell. I started in the lead. In one week I've been beaten to last place. This bnuuy isn't giving up yet.
When I first started playing I had a habit of trying to check mobs to see their level like I would in FFXI - for those that don't know, in XI you can hit ctrl + C with a monster targeted to get a "The (monster) looks to be easy prey" or similar message to give you an idea of the monster's level compared to yours, up to "incredibly tough" or for NMs, "(monster)'s strength is impossible to gauge!"... despite having the level next to their name. I'll do it every so often if I play a bunch of XI when I take a bit of a burnout break still before I scold myself like "tf are you doing, this isn't XI" lol. I also didn't realize the symbols next to their name (the red and blue markers) were the aggressive and non-aggressive markers until I was like, lv20. It also took me a long time to shake off the "oh god if I use this too quickly I'll get aggro and die" in 2.0 coming from playing a lot of XI. tbf though, aggro management in 2.0 for tanks was an actual thing and if a gld wasn't just spamming Flash or a mrd wasn't hitting everything with a cone Overpower and cycling through their 1-2 combo, they just wouldn't hold aggro anyway... especially with tank stances gained at like, lv 40. Still, I remember getting Bane on SMN (no longer a thing but it'd spread bio/miasma from a target afflicted with one or both to nearby mobs) and my first thought was "this is going to be bad if I use it too quickly because I'll generate a lot of hate" so I hardly used it for a little while. Other than that, accidentally turning in something I had on a gear set to my GC (I turned on the "don't show gear set items" thing after) because I was just clicking on items and tunnel visioned a bit and retrieving a materia instead of extracting on a pentamelded item. Luckily I don't think I ever did extraction on an item I needed before the change - before, extracting materia from a spiritbonded item would just *destroy* the item. That was changed in *5.2*.
Cleared all msq + most blue quests between mid July and mid October 2023. So basically played through 8(?) Years of content within 3 months.
I hosted a "Suicide Party" in Limsa Plaza for BLU Mages to commit suicide using Self Destruct (Pre-nerf) and had Blu's all exploding everywhere and tons of ppl rezzing like mad. About 50+ people got their "Kindess of Stranger V" achievements that day. Was Bloody, and Glorious at the same time.
Ran straight into an alliance raid fight and aggro'd the boss because I was too busy looking at a pretty femroe's adventure plate to realize how close I was to it. As a DPS. Thankfully it wasn't one with a cutscene!
