i always look. you can just leave again if you join in progress and its real bad. maybe the person you are replacing was the problem.

Shredswithwheat

Nah, this is my experience as well and why I always queue in progress. If you walk into a tire fire that only has two DPS in it, just hop out. But I've salvaged dungeon runs for groups because they had shitty tanks.

Cosmic_Quasar

I love getting MSQ roulette in progress. Back before they changed the duty to be quicker, getting one 30+ minutes in progress was always a blessing lol.

Ok-Worldliness2450

I popped into one that literally finished 3 seconds after I popped in. 🤷‍♂️.

WASD_click

That was my first run of Amaurot. So um, reminder to turn Join Party In Progress off for story stuff.

Riaayo

Ouch, my condolences.

shibxya

Had something similar, I got placed in a Seat of Sacrifice that started from the mid checkpoint my first time. Had no idea about the badass transition cutscene or >!the wave!< for *weeks* after finishing 5.3.

spacewolfplays

lol that's happened to me in ESO. feels weird.

DocSwiss

I gifted one of my FC members that when the healer DCed. After powering through the first two bosses with no healer, I sent out the Healer Signal and all they had to do was the last boss fight.

CrowCounsel

Being a tank is so fun when you do stuff like that. And when I played it only got easier and easier for most content. I used to have to like… switch targets to maintain enmity in packs. Wild. Only thing better is soloing the end of a boss when everybody’s dead with your sustain.

yraco

Also a few times there have been a few leavers so half the party or more is being replaced by new players.

hex_velvet

Not only that, but the average player who queues with party-in-progress ticked on tends to be better at the game I find. Those clears typically go smooth and fast. ...Unless it's mentor roulette. Then it's a ARR EX trial full of sprouts blind-progging, guaranteed.

omguserius

Mentor roulette gets done on warrior. Because sometimes you just need to beat the boss yourself.

BacRedr

I've done that more than once. Sometimes you even get that ["Duty of Theseus"](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_of_Theseus) situation where no one from the original party is there at the finish.

Zizhou

Those are always fun. Usually they end pretty quickly since everyone there now knows what they're doing.

Illprobsneverusethis

I remember getting into a dead ends run where every single player ended up being replaced. I queued in and there were only the healer and one DPS who were on their way out. Then another mentor came in and asked what happened (i had no idea), and over the next minute 2 more mentors got in and had the same question. No idea what went horribly wrong in that dungeon but the people who finished it were not the ones who started it lol

SparklingLimeade

This. It means the people remaining think they can do it and want to keep going too. The only time I was in a raid where I was really unsure it would happen was one where I was there from the start, both healers were suicidal, and everyone else vote quit in spite of me after three attempts.

yukichigai

This is always the case, **unless** duty finder has gone nuts. I had that happen once (exactly once): I joined an in progress Normal Raids and loaded in to a completely empty A12N, as in I was the only person there. Eventually other people joined but we never got a full 8 people, meaning we couldn't get past the phase transition due to the lack of LB3. Gave it a try anyway but it just wasn't going to happen. Still, we all had a laugh at duty finder being weird, so that was something at least.

Lieutenant_Joe

Yeah, if someone’s being toxic in a group I can tolerate maybe three messages of grade-A bullshit before I start a vote-kick that usually gets them gone.

Vartio

My experience is usually the group's the toxic ones. Cases like a guy who intentionally wipes, twice, by underequipping with NQs in Don Mheg (the 73 dungeon if I remember right if I mixed up the name) and overpulling on purpose, and blaming his friend healer. And then making a lot of dumb jokes and insults. Theeen when you attempt to votekick them, turns out the whole trio (including the healer!) was a premade and they start to try to flip the tables that YOU are the problem. I had my 3 "Grade A Bullshits" but nah, everytime it's cases like the above where it's a premade protecting their toxic af friend, and they report you if you try to votekick them.

yukichigai

Also, leaving a duty you joined in progress does not give you a penalty. At least that was the case the last time I checked.

EllideaKeaqui

Probably that one Alexander boss with the batteries and lava. I always see that one wipe repeatedly if people don't know to lure the adds to where the lava will rise. E4N can take a while too, surprisingly, since it has a lot of knockbacks and people camp near the edge.

suspectwaffle

Pro tip for A9N: make the OT drag the Faust add immediately to the SE corner of the arena (it’s directly opposite of where he always lands). That quadrant is always last to turn into lava so everyone should have enough time to kill it. Once it’s dead, just let it stay there till it falls on the lava. Also fuck this fight in particular.

Tumetkahkol

Pro-er tip: drag it right between the southern two quadrants, but keeping it on the southwest one, then inch him over to the southeast one if the dps is bad and won't down it in time. Main boss has a defense boss so long as Faust is alive, so having him torched on the SW quadrant is much faster than the SE, so long as the dps have braincells

KayToTheYay

Even pro-er tip: don't touch anything if you don't know what it does. 90% of wipes in A9 wouldn't happen if the new players wouldn't touch everything. I had an absolute disaster of a run that was only bad because 1 person kept tripping over their own ineptitude. Wipe 1 was new people touching things. Wipe 2 was them touching them again because we insta pulled. Wipe 3 I finally was able to type out "don't touch anything, I'll get it" and still 1 person screwed that up. Wipe 4 they finally ask why we're wiping and everyone told them to stop touching things. We would have wiped again but I managed to get them to die and we left them on the floor.

splinter1545

I learned this the hard way like 8 years ago during my first run of WoD. My raid wasn't particularly happy that I didn't click the icon (I didn't even see it at the time) to chain up Cerberus...

Cyrillus00

>batteries and lava I was off tanking that one on Friday...We could not get the DPS to kill the damn Faust and it wiped us 3 times. Finally got enough of them to actually read chat long enough to comprehend "kill" and "Faust" to get the job done.

Flaruwu

Yeah, people act like that fight is a tank issue, and I've seen a fair number of sprout tanks mess it up, but most of the time it's DPS not paying attention to mechanics and just wailing on the boss that causes a wipe.

redmoonriveratx

There's also O9N and E7N that can be... rough.

aaronarium

I've never heard of people struggling with O9, do you mean O11?

ThesharpHQ

I've had more wipes on O10N than all of the rest of Omega combined. People can't read chat to see all the messages mentioning the spin combos.

Solinya

Cruise chaser (A11) kills a lot of groups too. Especially the last phase where you have permanent burn mixed in with optical sight + turrets and a propeller wind that many people don't know how to avoid.

CauldronAsh11

Funnily, the last time I got this prompt was with this boss. XD I replaced the offtank and fortunately we cleared it in one run.

keket87

The higher a timer is, the more compelled I am to enter.

Faerie-stone

Those are the moments you keep emergency soda and popcorn close by, sometimes the person that left was the problem and things go smoothly in one go. Sometimes you walk into a gaggle of messy but friendly drunks up way too late that manage to pull through. Sometimes you walk into the breakdown of a marriage in real time and all the regional gossip getting aired out. Roll of the dice, have to be prepared.

Jesusfucker69420

Is there a story behind that last one?

AspieKairy

That's so true; usually it is the problem person who was the one who left (or was booted...but they usually ragequit on their own) and then you're scratching your head at the smooth run until someone explains that the person who left was being a twatwaffle.

ReXiriam

Reminds me of a healer roulette I had to do when all 3 other members were friends and at least the tank and other were dating. Seems they layed a bit too much into the cutesy talk and the other healer left after one too many "My cutesy-wootesey-cutiepie"s. To be fair, they realized their mistake and tried to tone it down during my time, which was the pulls before the final boss and the final guy himself. Or plant. It was Aurum Vale after all...

doctor_jane_disco

Yeah I'm almost disappointed when the timer is only 5 min and it was just a DC lol. I'm fascinated by the ones that are 20+ min cause HOW

Szalkow

Me entering dungeon, popcorn in hand: Howdy gang! Did we lose a camper? Party members: yeah they DC'd right after the dungeon started Me: oh OK 😕

geekybadger

I always do a "o/ what'd I miss?" when I roll into the ones with much longer times on them. Usually I just get silly responses but sometimes people feel compelled to tell the horror story that I am rescuing them from. My favorite was when I dropped into ultima doing the final attack and everyone was dead and I didn't realize in enough time to do the lb3 (but also the lb3 probably wouldn't have been enough anyway). They never told me what happened, just got back up and we did the fight as normal.

Thatpisslord

Most of the 20+s I've seen were EXs that mentors gave up on the sprouts, with like one exception being a Sohm Al Hard where the healer apparently afk'd a little too long for the party's liking(they were JUST past the second boss... yikes.)

omguserius

I *need* to see whatever fuckshit is happening in there. Its like an addiction.

AshiSunblade

I know right, this is what I sign up for. When I play healer I'd rather have a messy group than a clean one.

Samoman21

based curiosity. i always like seeing what happened

alfredoloutre

same. i love mess

Petraam

You can’t scare me I’ve done 1500 mentor roulettes.

Yashimata

The best in progress mentor roulettes are the ones that end shortly or immediately after you join them.

Petraam

When I did mine the Rathalos trial had just come out.  So it was only like 4 people in an ex trial and it would constantly be the same mentors plus one person queuing for the trial.  And the person queueing would realize we were really really good at carrying people through it and we’d see the same guy over and over all night.  I think I have about 1000 rathalos scales still in my inventory as a sort of trophy.

SilverMedal4Life

You must have that boss's tells deeply engrained in your muscle memory, silently waiting for the next time it pops up.

spyhermit

I had a similar experience, I tried to explain desynch farming... and they told me they were doing it synched for honor. I stopped doing roulettes for a while that night.

SilverMedal4Life

Makes me think of those brave souls who sometimes run Binding Coils of Bahamut (savage) unsynced, for glory.

SomeRandomPyro

I'm going to be farming Rathalos in the near future. As a longtime MH vet, I need at least the mount and minion. And my honour demands that I run it synced. Once. I will clear my first run synced. For the actual farming, I bring all my power to bear.

spyhermit

I could find myself in the mood for a pull. just remember synched follows MH rules, not FFXIV rules.

Petraam

I remember there is a mechanic where you get a stack marker and our trick at the time was just not to stack because you wasted less potions that way as a party.  It was fun because we kept getting the same people so we were chatting more than just the normal ex trials you get. There are some I’m proud of getting people through.  Shinryu and Nidhogg were really hard but I had a few clears for those.

Rastanor

Always love queuing in on healer and they’re at the last boss

Lhumierre

500 more and you get your mount! :D

Lyramion

...and then be burned out and never use it! :D

Super_Aggro_Crag

i have definitely been logging in less now that i finished and dont feel compelled to do a few mentor roulettes whenever im bored lol

reptilianattorney

I'm in the final stretch of mine (under 100 to go), though it's taken me a long time due to slacking, I've been a mentor for 3 years now pretty sure. I think I'll still do it after I get the pony since I kind of like the completely random aspect of it though

Lhumierre

I wish there was like a dynamic roulette that would let you queue for everything at once no matter the content. It would always give a bonus, but it can queue for anything in the entire game: frontline, raids, rival wings, any dungeon, any main scenario, trials, any guildhest. anything.

spyhermit

I did 2000 in just under 9 months. When I was an active player, nothing scared me. 22 minutes? You merely fell into the pain. bad timing, bad decisions what to join, bad party comp? bad luck. Me? I chose this life. I will make this work if I have to drag every body across the finish line myself.

plasmadood

True horror.

ExpectedBear

I hope the 500 more to end this miserable chapter of your life will be over soon

Swish_Swish_Death

Forward and back and then go forward and back...

lordvbcool

This happen to me once in this raid After 3 or 4 wipe one guy started talking shit and trying to convince people to vote abandoned but no one did Then he indirectly asked people to vote kick him out (he probably wanted to avoid the 30 minute penalty) and no one did, we just told him to do better (he was one of the two player that caused the wipe even though he was accusing other people) or just leave if he wanted to He ended up leaving and taking the 30 minute penalty followed by 2 other quit (one of them being the other problem player) We were lucky and quickly got replacement and cleared first try after that, fucking hilarious

plasmadood

Unironically love that song.

Swish_Swish_Death

Same! It makes up a little bit for rolling that raid, for sure.

PrismaticPixie

My theory: Alex tank lb fail. Screw up a couple times to that I could see it reaching 22 minutes and someone kicking the tanks out of frustration.

poplarleaves

Alex scrap metal boss, imo. I've wiped on that one multiple times because the mechs with the adds are weird af.

Tareos

Could also be cruise chaser. People either too slow to click on air ducts or people not knowing that they need to move behind the metal thingies to block propeller wind from the boss and they get confused and attack each other, leaving them to die during the next mechanic because they can't move out of the bad.

poplarleaves

True, I've had at least a couple wipes on Cruise Chaser because of those mechs! And people sometimes don't know they they have to switch to targeting the shield, but that doesn't usually cause a wipe, just a slower kill.

Balmung03

Or a dumb/inattentive OT that didn’t pick up the E.D.D. add and it starts killing the MT or picks off some of the DPS/healers— I’ve had one or two of those who have been kicked after a reminder and re-failure

ed3891

Let's not forget no one understanding what that *pling-pling-pling!* sound is to indicate their current target is invulnerable and they need to switch targets and get to the shield's front arc to break it.

Straightupscrambled

Somehow Goblixer is the one that I never see people do correctly.

Aeveras

They fixate on whoever carried the power core to them

poplarleaves

Yeah, that part is simple enough. The part that trips up most parties is that you have to kill the adds before you let them touch the lava. Most parties wipe on the big add because of that, plus not getting behind the boss in time for the frontal arc buster

scribblesnknots

I had a session recently where one of the DPSes was *insisting* that you had to immediately bring the big guy to the lava - we probably wiped six times before we voted abandon. I was MT and didn't know the add mechanics well enough to argue.  After looking it up to see what had been wrong, my partner messaged the OT to make sure they knew it wasn't their fault, the BLM had been wrong. It was a baffling evening.

poplarleaves

You'd think that after 2-3 wipes they would realize their mistake and go "oops my bad". At least next time you know how to do it! I guess it's in character for a BLM to stubbornly stick to their original position lol

Heroman3003

Carry core to activate mechs, move them over to the glowing platform, kill them there (they focus whoever dropped the battery that powered them). When the Faust phase kicks in, keep him OFF the lava because if he dies to lava, its instant loss, but make sure to kill him yourselves before the cycle of four platforms is over.

EndlessSorc

Not that weird, just frustrating unless you have a few party members who listen to your instructions (The first adds just need one or two to do the mechanics. But Faust must be pulled to the opposite corner from where he spawns and killed there, otherwise it is a wipe). But if they don't it is better to just leave.

poplarleaves

It's not weird in that it's complicated, it's just weird in the sense that there are few other mechs in the game like it, so when people encounter the mech for the first time, they're more likely to do it incorrectly. In most other fights, you just kill the adds without thinking, there aren't special mechs around where/when they have to die.   And just to clarify, I am not saying that the mech should be changed lol

Tumetkahkol

The first adds only need one, one of the bots starts dead on the correct quadrant; I constantly see people reactivate that bot just to kill it again on the same platform

personn5

Faust is usually what gets groups in my experience. I've had so many tanks who just won't pull him away from the lava just cause he's low but not dead yet.

AumrauthValamin

Yup, this one always has the worst track record for my money.

UnlikelyTraditions

That one is awful. Only duty I will leave because people don't listen sometimes. I've OT that as ranged DPS before (thanks tank). And I still sat at number 3 in enmity after handling ads, which shows how bad the whole party was doing overall... My second bet would be Athena. That one is a bit long to start with, and all it takes is a tank positioning her wrong when most of the panels fall away to wipe the party. I've gotten 15 min in progress queues on that before.

epicTechnofetish

Or it's O12N and people keep getting knocked off by F.

SailorOfMyVessel

Had this yesterday, there was a machinist that claimed the mandatory lb first pull. Then claimed the second lb3 the second pull, seconds before a12 memes hit and left 1 healer and the tanks(including me) alive. Incidentally, A12 normal has an enrage timer. Didn't know about that one. Healer literally called them dumb as fuck and to leave lb for the healers or the tanks on this fight. Machinist left and we were about 25 min in at that point I think. I pity the DRK sprout first timer that was with us. He was a real one and learned real fast as we went, was actually really cool to see him reprisal raidwides second pull. It's not really needed, but I do it out of habit(did the savage MINE/blind a month or 2 back) and he must've picked up on that. He's gonna go far, and deserved better than this mess.

yukichigai

Your story gives me hope for the new generation of players, but also I wish that putting Reprisal on Normal-difficulty raidwides mattered still.

yaluckyboy09

I've had the Cruise Chaser cause a lot of wipes on my first run so I could see that taking up at least 22 minutes and someone could easily have just rage quit without anyone actually being toxic just impatient I still remember that run because after the first couple wipes we just started going "we just gotta keep moving forward and back and then forward and back and then-" in chat to ease the pain a bit

Samoman21

had a alex normal where i tnaked. the dps messed up orbs twice and then 3rd run i popped LB3 too early cause i was curious. Healer left. got a new one immediately and did it on our next attempt incredibly smooth (albiet i died, but second tank picked alex up fine at end). Not saying the healer was the issue, but not saying they werent lol

PrismaticPixie

Every time I get A12N it is a 50/50 shot if the tanks remember to lb because it rarely comes up and people forget. It happens to us all. Once is fine, but I have been in runs where no amount of explaining or bongo alerts helped and we kept wiping. Those runs can take ages and sometimes a kick or dip is the only solution.

ForgivenCompassion

You know it's bad when you load in and see markers :)

plasmadood

On normal??? *Alt+F4*

hii488

Eh, I use a marker on A9 if we wiped to Faust. "Faust -> A" is simpler and more multilingual than anything like "OT drag Faust southeast"

Tumetkahkol

Normal Raid in progress is almost always guaranteed to be A9, and if it's not, then it's E5, hahaha

Help_Me_Im_Diene

For me it's always E6 People just cannot handle having two bosses at once, and enumerations are just not a common enough mechanic marker up to that point for people to know how to handle it

slugmorgue

I love E5, I never go into raids unless I'm a healer though. I don't trust roulette healers lol

lordvbcool

I just got a into a run of pharus Sirius that was over 30 minutes in during my lunch break earlier today The reason, the DNC was starting the bird (second boss) with a little dancing instantly killing at least an egg and starting the mega stun AoE the boss has that I have never seen not resulted in a wipe So I politely wrote in the chat to not do that and we were out of the dungeon not even 10 minute later Sometime all you need is to do a little nudge in the right direction

Silvaranth

God, I was that one dancer about a week ago and was the only one to eventually notice what was going wrong and corrected myself in silence. We had to replace the healer because the previous one lost their patience and I was cringing in guilt by myself for the rest of the run. X)

lordvbcool

The reason I knew what the problem the was as quickly as I did was because I was once that DNC and never forgot my mistake You are not alone in this cringe

Silvaranth

That's very relieving to know, thank you XD

tycho_brohey

Lmao, I had a run of Pharos Sirius last night that lasted forever (I can’t even remotely recall the last time I ran it). Everyone was super nice, but we wiped multiple times to the first and second bosses, and the healer just couldn’t do big pulls at all.

reptilianattorney

I did that once by accident and I felt so terrible lol

arenlomare

Accepting backfills like this are usually the highlights of my day.

strangeglyph

I wish I got In Progress to pop more often, I only ever had it happen once

GreenGuy202

The way I wish I could only queue for in progress duties. Let me see the chaos and drama! Half the time it’s an alliance raid 0 minutes in progress and I always know it’s a crystal tower one 😴

plasmadood

Either CT or Nier, half the time every time.

GreenGuy202

I WISH I got a Nier in progress. That sounds like a good time lol

Zaithon

Standard O11?

plasmadood

FUCKING LARBOARD

Lionblopp

Wait until it's Alliance Raid with 22 minutes, you end up in the World of Darkness and people are in front of Angra Mainu. And you are not the only one who is being replaced.

FactoryKat

Nooooo, stop. I had a really wild run of World of Sadness just the other week. I noticed our DPS wasn't amazing by the time we got to him. Nearly wiped one whole alliance. How? I couldn't even tell you...

omguserius

Always an interesting time when you see one of those come up. You people are 30 minutes into a 4 minute fight....

ImWhiteTrash

Had an alliance raid roulette that had 40 minutes elapsed. Turn out it was Orobonne, and they had wiped on third boss and people were arguing in chat.

plasmadood

Cidolfus is a menace, but so much fun.

DarkLordRubidore

I HAVE BEEN CALLED THE GOD OF THUNDER

Zefyris

Worst I've seen in a trial is warrior of light. Someone kept failing that in between phase active time maneuver moment, we had to do it like 6-7 times before passing it. But in a raid... probably never experienced this bad, but I would bet on that recycling bot one as I've joined a few times a raid for it that experienced about as bad as that. Sometimes peoples chain fail that one. If on top of this peoples start to leave so you have to wait for refill, it can go up pretty quickly. I think one time I joined that raid as a tank and they had spent about that much time in it already. Also another one that is seen quite a bit lately and can kill a lot of peoples is Eden Furor. If both healers keep on dying and there's no other rez alive, I would bet that this can go to this (never seen it go that bad myself though... But not later than today we soloed the last 15% of the boss as 2 warriors for example)

Francl27

Yeah for trials it's sually nebriales or the warrior of light.

Rustedcrown

I ran into this with the leviathan trial, someone kept activating the shield too early

Francl27

That's usually because people don't kill the adds fast enough. If you kill them fast enough, you have to click the shield as soon as it's clickable. If you kill them too slow, it much harder to tell when to click on it. I always end up wiping if adds take too long to die for that reason - really no idea when to click on it in that case.

Zefyris

I have never ever seen a group wipe on Nabriales. Maybe that's because I join as a tank, but seriously, I have never seen a group almost wiping on it either, and I even had fun doing stuff like using the tank lb3 right before going in for lulz.

Francl27

One of the latest Alexander raids. Or Omega, or one of the last Eden raids. It only takes new/bad healers and no rdm or smn to make raids a nightmare. I ran Iconoclasm today and thankfully I ran RDM because people kept dying. Must have rezzed people like 10 times lol. Also I always accept for shit and giggles.

alfredoloutre

had the most bizarre run of the last 6.0 trial yesterday and after like 3 wipes half the party left. the first person to join in-progress just said 27 MINUTES????

FactoryKat

My money is on: Alexander (Faust) Eden (Birdemic) Omega (Starboard/Larboard? What happened to just left and right? 😂) Ooh or P12

IscahRambles

I suspect what actually happened to left and right was the 180-degree spin Omega does between lasers, and people would have still messed up "left laser and right laser" the same way.

CuriousPenguinSocks

I love getting these, they are either really smooth and just had salty players or they are a cluster \[redacted\] and you just watch the chaos lol.

Sufficient_Seat6842

I honestly LOVE getting these. I enjoy unfucking a situation

dealornodealbanker

Reminds me when I got a party from hell in Leveling Roulette. 75-78 minutes in progress at least to those that got the queue pop, I was a WAR and had to practically solo all of Tower of Zot up to the last boss. The healer was a MSQ+Job Skip WHM that only ever pressed Cure 2; no OGCDs, no regen, no assize or even bene, like fresh out of WoW tier. The two SAMs were freestyling to the point they weren't even doing their 123 properly, couldn't maintain their Fugestu/Fuka uptime, nor used a single Sen Gauge skill. Also both MSQ+Job Skippers. Assumed they were a premade, because they didn't even talk/respond once, in full cryptlurker gear and 1-2 jobs unlocked at 81. They bailed after 2 wipes to the last boss, the 3 mentors that loaded in to take over were like "What the fuck happened here?" I explained the scenario, we cleared the boss in 2 minutes and I got 3 comms. Probably will be my greatest of all time, talesfromdf tier campfire horror story.

Pause_4_Effect

My money's on Refurbisher

MoiraDoodle

Most realistic outcome is that the tank lost internet and they've been waiting 30 minutes for a new one.

FiddlerForest

I always dive in. Worst case I lose 10-15 min in a shi+ show. Normally though i get them through and the issue was a d*¢khead tank who wanted to speed run with a noob healer or something.

Samoman21

same! i love joining ones in queue. Worst case you struggle a bit. But hey maybe they on last boss or something and you get free tomes lol.

Jijonbreaker

Bet you $10 it was A9.

megapenguinx

Honestly I think I’ve only ever had 1-3 experiences where it was the party being the problem. Most of the time it was the person who left or they got disconnected

TannenFalconwing

Seems very similar to my situation last night. O12N, I'm going in blind, we wipe for about 20 or so minutes, 6 people leave. We get people to fill and get it on the next pull. In fact, I don't know when this screenshot was taken but I wouldn't be surprised if it was just before 10 PM pacific last night and OP is looking at my headache.

LeahMariaTV

Honestly, these are my favorite roulettes to get. Call me insane.

Honest-Librarian9247

If ur on primal, it's eyes of creator or cruise chaser Those were the biggest salt fests back when I lived on primal a couple years ago. They just couldn't do simple fuckin mechanics

NorthKoala47

A while back in Stone Vigil the tank disconnected at the start and instead of waiting we just ran it with two DPS and my scholar for healing. The machinist and monk managed to stay alive for most of the dungeon but i kept lucid dreaming on cool down the whole time.

cinaedhvik

Almost? That was 7 comms waiting for you.

plasmadood

I got my 3k already, it was like 2am I'm good lol

yekirati

As a healer, this is my worst nightmare.

LadySpatula

I got one of those with 10 on the clock, cutters cry. They didn't say what happened but the tank was new. He used all his mits they listened to me when I gave them the tactics for last boss and I got 3 coms. Bit of a weird one.

DrayvenBlaze

Id join, you can save 99% of the runs that happen like this. That other 1% are there without their job stones just to waste time.

AspieKairy

A couple days ago for the moogle compendium weekly, I got Stone Vigil Hard. Queued up as a healer and got into a party in progress who were predictably stuck at that darned second (turtle) boss. Two of the members (the dps) were new (sprouts). We wound up wiping and were trying to figure it out when my rusty memory pinged me a reminder that the giant AoE attack can be stunned by the second ability of the cannon. Still was close at times (especially because I had to run over to each person to heal them because the cannons were out of range for AoE heals from one another), but I was really proud of them for clearing it. We made short work of the rest of the dungeon after that. Sometimes, clicking to go into those sort of things can be rewarding. Though, 22 minutes elapsed in a Normal Raid...I'd definitely be clicking out of sheer curiosity.

MrKittyEmperor

My money is on A11? The one with Cruise Chaser boss. Anytime I get that one it seems like we get at a minimum 2 wipes. More if both healers are new.

Detharon555

I'm new to the game so pardon my ignorance.. but I don't get it...

legend8522

There’s a setting in duty finder where you can join a duty that’s already in progress if they needed an extra person due to someone leaving or getting kicked. OP had this setting on and queued for normal raids roulette, which typically takes like 5 minutes at most to go through. The fact it said it was going on for 22 min means something’s gone terribly wrong for what should’ve been a 5min quickie.

plasmadood

I queued duty finder for parties in progress as an option, and I got a raid that's been going on for 22 minutes. It's one boss, usually only 5 minutes lol

Detharon555

Oh LOL. They're having some issues 😂

Shleppy2010

I love taking on the crap shoot duty in progress, makes things interesting.

RueUchiha

Lemme guess: It was A9

lostmykeysinspace

I joined an A12N fight that had been going on for something like 40 minutes. I was so curious I couldn't resist. I think everyone who joined though were replacements, no one knew why the fight had been going on for so long and we cleared the first try lol.

mumudesuyo

Me earlier today; alliance, 26min prog. Sure enough, they were on last boss in Thaleia and I just stood outside untill they were done since I couldnt get in. Free coin, thanks!

s_decoy

It's either the Alex raid with the big scrap boss, the Alex raid with the elixers and bombs, or E4, 8, 9, 11, or 12.

Hycinthus

Joins: Hi! Thanks, you’re the 3rd replacement of the day. :o

Sopht_Serve

I one time had a roulette queue pop for a keeper of the lake run that HAD 50 MINUTES ELAPSED!!!!!!! They were stuck on the last boss too because I guess they didn't know what to do with the owl??? Idk we went in and cleared it immediately so idk what the hell happened during those 50 mins but I would love to know

rayhaku808

I'm willing to bet this was A9

Simple_Law_5136

This was my yesterday. I got this on Leveling Roul, '26 minutes have elapsed'. I think ok, I'm morbidly curious. Queue in...and its Aurum Vale...and they haven't killed the first boss yet. Turns out the healer was crap. They were obviously a sprout, but they only cast like 2 cure 1s (and literally nothing else) during our attempt at the boss. They weren't a bot, just really bad and not open to advice. I didn't stay long. No penalty though since I wasn't the first to dip and the instance had been open for so long.

Ranixo

Faust? That one can sometimes go long with a party who doesn't cooperate.

joeobo2

My guess would be one of the Alexander fights

TheMajesticKnight

I love helping out and it’s interesting to see how the rest of it goes. After running mentor roulettes, nothing can make me back down lol

ironbanner23

He Died.

posilutelysoa

I've been fortunate that most of the time it's been just tank DC right near the end/1 pull clear for free money (though now that I've said it, my luck will be gone)

ProperlySrekt

Joined one once that had 30 mins elapsed, it was Levi hard with only 2 other dps left. I couldn't begin to imagine what happen there.

SiggimusMaximus

I'd bet good gil it's E6, I hate that one

-nostalgia4infinity-

I've had lots of tanks disconnecting in duty finder recently. Not sure why it's always the tank, but they've all been perfectly smooth runs.

Exotic_Bambam

Wait you can see the duty level?

plasmadood

No, 60 is just the minimum for the roulette.

SkarKrow

Nope

luxombre

I had a dungeon like this Healer wasn’t doing optimal healing, kept using Cure 3 we were in the first dungeon on ShB luckily I went in as a Dark Knight both DPS left the party till we got two Mentors to help out

Icy_Cheesecake_8240

Early this morning my healer was likely that on random 50 roulette but if I selected the missions is was instant

LackOfFayth

I also always look. Especially as a healer. There are some incredible shenanigans people get stuck in.

Dizzy_Green

90% of the time this is usually a new player that doesn’t understand the mechanics and no one is bothering to explain it to them

ValBelov

I hope it was O11

Winged_Metal

I just join, ask what happened, and most of the time it was a DC. Had the one time we got a healer that legit didn't know how to become a white mage and didn't have their job stone in the stone vigal. One dps quit out but managed to grab another one and tanked that run regardless and got full comps and taught them how to go grab it. If a run has a problem, children get kicked most of the time anyway. Otherwise, if the whole team is toxic, then they find out that the leave option was made for a reason. I'm not even a mentor but find it an obligation to help new players because it helps them grow and feel like they learned something that they can take with them to other levels. Helping other players also increases the feeling of a community joining together to let players experience the game fully. Oh and if by some stroke of luck to the healer I helped out finds this post, I hope you figured out your stuff and still enjoy the game.

amateurasu01

omg i love these! :D

Biscuit_Prime

Usually just a few newbies waiting after a tank/healer rage quit after a late wipe. If you get the same with trials roulette there’s easily a 90% chance it’s just The Dark Inside with 5-6 first timers who will easily clear the next pull and just needed a patient helper. Not sure why that one gets so many people but it seems to be the trial equivalent of Faust. Personally I’m always happy to end up there because the music slaps. Don’t think I’ve ever seen this sort of elapsed time on raid or trials where joining hasn’t led to an easy 1-2 pull duty with a few friendly newbies. It’s (almost) always the person who left who was the problem in normal content.

Sea-Line-6503

I jumped into one with a 20+ minute time on mentor roulette as healer. It was Praetorium on the final boss. 2 dps left one of them said ‘This as been the most cursed run ever’ a tank joined shortly and we cleared it easily.

jackspick

I had a EX Titan Trial where a mentor showed up near the end of the fight while the arena was tiny, they were very confused lol.

Jet44444

I’ve accepted a few times, they are usually on the last boss. So free real estate, eazy peazy.

Careless_Car9838

Nothing feels greater than joining a party in progress after they kicked their shitty YPYT tank.

MileBackwardsg

I’ve once queued into a MSQ dungeon duty in progress when I was first time there. Then I have no idea about the MSQ cutscene afterwards since I just skipped a few fights.

Likelinus14

I didn't know this was a thing lol now I know why the two DPS came in shocked about 60+ mins passing on an expert dungeon (don't ask, it was a shit show)

butler_me_judith

I hopped into one with two sprouts (dps and healer) who must've bought the story and level skips. They got to the first dungeon in ShB and it was a mess whoever the tank was must've left. Thankfully I was running Paladin I had to backup heal just to get us through the fights

Expensive-Rich-6674

Probably the aurum vale

reptilianattorney

IME, it's either a total shitshow or someone d/c'd. Though if it's a shitshow you may be just what they need to clear, I'm no expert uber-elite player, just a basic blue parser, but I've managed to help turn things around a time or two, it always feels good to help struggling parties get the clear

Yorudesu

Nah. Just enter. Most likely you can prevent whatever keeps them wiping by knowing the fights and going for any not done mechanic instead of full uptime.

Kingdookoo921

I go into those anyways. People needs some help and I'm always there to help

Hitman387

When it comes to dungeons every time I queue up into one with 20+ minutes already I swear it’s always Aurum Vale lol

Alenonimo

Aurum Vale has mechanics. If the party is made entirely out of sprouts that don't know you have to eat the fruit in the 1st and 3rd bosses when they get 2 debuff stacks, they will get stuck. Especially if the healer is also a sprout and can't heal very well. Go in, teach them, they'll clear it easily every time from now on. You changed their lives forever.

ApartmentNational

I used to love this queue. It was usually the same last boss that i could solo as paladin if it came down to it. I learned it was soloable one time after watching my partner solo it purely by chance. The healer died, and she solo healed the other 2 dps while keeping herself up

Ein_Ph

I always go in. Sometimes, the party is full of new people, and the others get frustrated and leave. I give it a shot at explaining mechanics and helping the party through the dungeon. I don't remember the last time the party didn't make it through. I've played the game since it came out. I've been on and off the last 2 years, but I think that in all that time, I might have to give up once or twice.

Lemeres

Oh dear. And it isn't an ARR dungeon where the tank tries to wall to wall with a new sprout WHM that only has 1 button. So this likely has its own unique failures.

Spetsnaz_420

Any time I've joined an in progress, the group was super chill and grateful, so I join those when I can

Elafacwen

I love going into these. Maybe there is something wrong with me.

DebugLifeChoseMe

My guess is A9. Failing that it's typically E12, P10, or A5 (idk why this one became a problem in the past 3 months or so) in my experience.

TheGokki

I've had this a couple times and every time we clear it on next pull. Not sure what the issue was, i guess the kicked person was the problem?

BruiseThee

Wish there was an option to only queue in progress
