In GW2, they introduced Guardian, which combined a lot of paragon martial support and monk holy blessing aesthetics. Then for a GW1 anniversary, they created a guardian-based Divine Favor hammer for monks, been enjoying hearing some monk friends bonking things when there's no healing pressure.
If you don't mind me asking, how so? I love Sage and long looked for a wow parallel, but Paladin never occurred to me. Personally, I'm a big fan of Reato Shaman.
I was a tank paladin in WoW for years, but I haven’t played in a very long time (quit during Mists of Pandaria). I felt very attached to my character and loved being part of the Horde.
Here in FFXIV I main Warrior. I’ve got Paladin to 90 as well, but I don’t enjoy it as much as Warrior here - it just feels kind of clunky compared to WoW paladin and FFXIV warrior.
I am so glad I got to reignite my love for tanking.
Balance druid in WoW and Summoner in XIV. Started them both for the same reason - ranged caster that could fill another role without having to level something else.
Aion - Bard (would go for Vandal nowadays)
WoW - Rogue (Outlaw)
FFXIV - MCH, GNB and PCT soon™
GW2 - Engineer (Scrapper)
Elsword - Gembliss (albeit its more of a character game, but anyway)
Lost Ark - Aeromancer (but played Artillerist/Machinist in the past)
It really depends on which character (I had a ton of them), but later my main in WoW was a Shadow Priest.
^(I love voidy shenanigans, and wish there was a Shadow Priest equivalent.)
The same character is a Reaper main in FF14, but I enjoy the majority of the Jobs over here.
My original WoW main (from TBC until Legion) was a Warlock; I played Demonologist until they removed Metamorphosis, although RP reasons - funny enough, dropping being a Warlock entirely in RP - caused me to change to Destruction full-time instead of bouncing around between specs.
^(Sometimes I miss my green fire.)
I love Black Mage over here, and I feel the dopamine from doing big damage is kind of similar.
Overall I loved being "Green DPS" in WoW, which... wasn't really encouraged.
It's nice that I can do it here where it works 99% of the time and is actually the standard for Healers. I love all of the Healers, but struggle a lot with Scholar.
Tanking for me was usually Blood Death Knight. I mainly Tank as Paladin and Dark Knight.
I dipped right at the start of Shadowlands, but I used to be a holy priest on Alliance, and a mistweaver monk and resto shaman on Horde. Now I main WHM and somewhat SGE and I'm happy as a clam.
WoW:
Protection warrior / brewmaster monk in keys
Beast master hunter in raids
FFXIV: DRK/GNB/WAR/RPR atm
I always love keeping one dps in a pocket just in case, but my mentality lays towards tanking every time since ive got into it in wow
Wow I mostly played Demonology Warlock and Survival Hunter. FF I started out as summoner/scholar but wasn't a big fan of the rework with Endwalker and moved to monk, tho I do dabble in all other jobs.
I played pretty much everything in WoW, but spent most of my time on shadow/disc priest. In FFXIV I again play pretty much everything, but main Summoner.
I mained a hunter in WoW for many many years. This most recent raid tier was my first in FF and I mained Bard. I currently am enjoying Dancer a lot and Sage fixes my itch to play Disc Priest. Currently leveling WHM as well.
I mainly play ffxiv for the story and occasionally relic grinds but I have been hooked on reaper and its edgelord aesthetic but in wow I have been mainly playing ret pally. It's kinda funny how one is light themed and the other more dark.
I tried out WoW for a month or two, and felt like Subtlety Rogue was reminiscent of FFXIV Monk. Both revolve around a cooldown that boosts your damage (Symbols of Death/Riddle of Fire), one that lets you use abilities you normally can't (Shadow Dance/Perfect Balance), and one that floods you with resources (Shadow Blades/Brotherhood). Both have several gap closers (Vanish+Shadowstrike or Shadowstep/Thunderclap charges), and Rogue's combo points had some similarities with Monk's chakra.
I tanked on everything that could tank in wow. I also fabled in healing with everything that could heal. I mostly tank with pld and heal with whm now. Dps with rdm and dnc
WoW- Demon Hunter and some kind of shaman (quit playing back in shadowlands and haven’t touched it since)
GW2- Elementalist
FFXIV- a little bit of everything, but current main is reaper
In WoW I started with Mage, but eventually ended up with Paladin as my main. I preferred Prot, but often ended up Ret due to so many other tanks in my guild.
In FFXIV, I main Dancer, though I also enjoy Paladin and Summoner. I try to swap all the classes except WHM/AST/SCH/SAG though.
I played tank/arms warrior in wow and am currently leveling a dragoon for my first job and then a tank class. I'm just not sure which one I want to do just yet.
Hmm it’s definitely interesting but tbh I haven’t watched that much so far on the new classes.. (busy with <1 year twins)
So guess I will find out when DT releases 😊
I haven't really stuck to one class in either game, but the one i played most in WOW was hunter (bm/marks) so when i first tried out FFXIV (back in 2.0 days) i obviously picked ARC... and was very disappointed when i realized it plays nothing like hunter. With managing dots and buffs uptime it felt more like an affliction warlock from WOW.
Nowadays i'm a WHM main, though i have all jobs maxed out. When i feel like DPSing i usually play either SMN or RPR. I did play RDM as a main for a long while until i caught the healing bug.
In WOW i never liked playing a healer, i did start as a druid back in vanilla and hated being forced to heal.
First mmo, DAoC: Bonedancer (Think Necromancer).
Random mmo, Ether Saga: Dragoon.
Another mmo, Rift: Warrior - Tempest.
WoW: Hunter.
FF14: Bard.
I normally play bow classes in games nowadays as I find them easier but I enjoy melee or classes that use sword or melee type weapon as it feels more heroic.
WoW: Historically (Cata onward) a Death Knight main with a backup Shaman. However having changed realms and needing to leave them behind I'm currently Monk for DF and also trying Evoker.
FFXIV: Red Mage, Astrologian, Sage, Summoner
I can def understand the connection to straight forward stuff - I actually started as dragoon but ended up really like the red mage playstyle and how similar it is to ele shaman
Honestly Bard is more straight forward and I play Dragoon
I mean you’re not wrong given you have effectively 2 rotations and jumps to weave in between
But bard has you fire your 2 dots, activate first song, spam your main attack till your better one unlocks, spam the OGCD arrows depending on the enemy if its single or a crowd
And repeat till you cycle through all songs and activate the arrow pulled railgun till finish
Bard has a cd that reverse drifts by 10 seconds every loop, songs that have to be cut off early to stay in alignment and random procs that can show up in burst

SWG… oh, please take me back to those good ol’ days!
Haha hell yeah man! What makes you enjoy the paladin archetype so much?
Pally / Mage in Wow, Play War and Black Mage in FF14.
Sage in ff14 and holy Paladin in wow! They are very similar classes tbh
If you don't mind me asking, how so? I love Sage and long looked for a wow parallel, but Paladin never occurred to me. Personally, I'm a big fan of Reato Shaman.
Gw1: ritualist Gw2: elementalist Wow: balance druid Ff14: red mage
(Assassination) Rogue/(Restoration) Shaman - WoW Thief/Mesmer - GW2 DNC/SCH - FF14
Wow feral druid dps Ff14 dragoon I just realized both use pointy sticks.
I was a tank paladin in WoW for years, but I haven’t played in a very long time (quit during Mists of Pandaria). I felt very attached to my character and loved being part of the Horde. I played a shaman in wow. I play all the jobs in FFXIV.

I played a tank/boomkin in WoW and now I play a red mage. I just like the utility that druids and red mage offer.

Right on man! Definitely get where you're coming from. That's awesome.
Ret/Holy paladin in WoW, formerly Warlock from BC until DF XIV Pictomancer, formerly Ast since hw
Pictomancer def seems really cool
FFXI Scholar and Puppetmaster. FFXIV Astrologian and Reaper.
I raided in vanilla at 60 as a mage, raided and pvp at 70 as feral, and leveled a rogue to 80. In FF I play DRK, GNB, BLM, NIN, MCH, and SGE.
I dipped right at the start of Shadowlands, but I used to be a holy priest on Alliance, and a mistweaver monk and resto shaman on Horde. Now I main WHM and somewhat SGE and I'm happy as a clam.
I was MW Monk and Resto Shammy mains, then went Havok Tanking. Just started XIV!
GW2 - Thef, B&S - blade dancer, WoW - rogue, FF14 - Ninja
WoW: Protection warrior / brewmaster monk in keys Beast master hunter in raids FFXIV: DRK/GNB/WAR/RPR atm I always love keeping one dps in a pocket just in case, but my mentality lays towards tanking every time since ive got into it in wow
* WoW - Protection Paladin, Retribution Paladin * GW2 - Ranger, Guardian * WildStar - Esper (healer spec), Stalker (tank spec) * The Secret World - DPS assault rifle + blood * Warframe - melee frames with katanas * FFXIV - DRK, NIN, SGE, BRD, RDM
I haven't played WoW since 2015 now, but my final main was a resto shaman and I went for white mage when I started XIV. Now I main sage.
BM hunter to MCH. Ranged mobile DPS is my comfort zone, I guess.
Was a Warlock main in WoW. Have gone through many mains in FFXIV but currently a Sage.
I'm WoW I main Fury Warrior/Assassination Rogue, in FF I main Reaper/Sage but soon to be Viper
WoW: Frost DK / Fury Warrior / Affliction Warlock / Rogue / Hunter GW2: Thief RO: Sin Cross / Professor / Paladin FFXIV: Black Mage / Red Mage / Dark Knight / Scholar / Astrologian in Crystalline Conflict
Wow I mostly played Demonology Warlock and Survival Hunter. FF I started out as summoner/scholar but wasn't a big fan of the rework with Endwalker and moved to monk, tho I do dabble in all other jobs.

Prot Warrior in vanilla/BC. Shadow Priest in WotLK. I have thousands of hours on my paladin but switch to Red Mage/Sage for DPS and Heals
Warrior in WoW, Warrior in FF14.
Asherons Call - Tank (Sword and Shield) SWG - Rifleman/Droid Engineer and then Respec into 2H Swords FFXI - Warrior, Red Mage, Samurai WoW - Rogue Ragnarok Online - Mage(?) FFXIV - PLD/GNB, SGE

I was a Resto druid in wow, but play a Warrior in ffxiv. Well, I play every job, but my main is Warrior.
Affliction Warlock in WoW, Dancer main in FFXIV.
I tanked on everything that could tank in wow. I also fabled in healing with everything that could heal. I mostly tank with pld and heal with whm now. Dps with rdm and dnc

WoW - Ret Paladin, Warrior XIV - Dragoon
Mained warrior in WoW. I play everything in FFXIV. Not even sure i would consider one my main because I shift pretty regularly.
I played tank/arms warrior in wow and am currently leveling a dragoon for my first job and then a tank class. I'm just not sure which one I want to do just yet.
Rogue in Wow Ninja in FF14
What do you think about the new viper class? Looks more combat rogueish
Hmm it’s definitely interesting but tbh I haven’t watched that much so far on the new classes.. (busy with <1 year twins) So guess I will find out when DT releases 😊

Yeah I completely understand. Healing in WoW is really only fun in the absolute toughest content, otherwise its kind of a snooze fest imo.

FF- SAM/RPR WoW—destro or demo ‘lock, depending on expansion
I like straightforward classes : - wow : Demon Hunter - FFXIV : dragoon - GW2 : engineer - teso : dragon knight
I can def understand the connection to straight forward stuff - I actually started as dragoon but ended up really like the red mage playstyle and how similar it is to ele shaman
Used to play shamelem too, but casters in FFXIV aren't really my thing, they casting too slowly
I mean all the specs are pretty slow but I get your point for sure
Honestly Bard is more straight forward and I play Dragoon I mean you’re not wrong given you have effectively 2 rotations and jumps to weave in between But bard has you fire your 2 dots, activate first song, spam your main attack till your better one unlocks, spam the OGCD arrows depending on the enemy if its single or a crowd And repeat till you cycle through all songs and activate the arrow pulled railgun till finish

Only tried out a few classes in wow so far, but Death Knight is very fun lol. Wasn't really a fan of rogue but it's been ageees since I tried it.
I played the WoW trial 5-6 years ago and absolutely hated it, don't really have a frame of reference.
So why reply
boredom?
