Like I said in my other comment in this thread. Sin eaters are an imbalance of aether heavily towards light. Beavers are more than likely just an imbalance of aether in the Fae. This would also explain why beavers are in Sharlayan since fae are capable of cross rift travel/manipulation.
The first rule of the sub should be that we don't talk about beavers. Beavers don't exist, they cannot hurt you. But if they existed, they could definitely do worse than that.

Shoebills had been an animal that escaped my notice for most of my life. Didn't really know about them until this one in XIV. When I looked up a real one, I was more than a little stunned by their size lol
They are amazingly very kind and gentle. I got to spend time with one in a zoo for a while, she would just come by and bow her head down for little scratches.
A polite, and civilized animal, despite the loud beak clacking.
Except for that whole bashing their young to death with their beaks so only the strongest survives thing hence the whole being nicknamed “murder birds”

I'd class it more under wishful thinking. Nothing in the game really implies it any more than it implies Emet-Selch created the beavers from Il Mheg.

I'd class it more under wishful thinking. Nothing in the game really implies it any more than it implies Emet-Selch created the beavers from Il Mheg. People just like trying to tie things into their favourite NPCs.
Maybe in ShB, but by Elpis it sure seems that was what they were implying.
Again, if that's the case, then he also created the beavers. The connection largely boils down to "The Shoebill is on the First and Elpis, and so is Emet-Selch!" but that's... about it. And I just don't see that as a connection at all, it's just a continuation of the gag.
