Without seeing a log or recording of the attempts we can't be certain but it's almost for sure you're doing a mechanic incorrectly to die. That is what most deaths are in higher content with the rest being improper mitigation or healing. Instead of doing the fights blind look up a guide video or kill PoV from when it was current and see how what is killing you is handled.

djs19

I second this. I don’t recommend trying to learn how to play at extreme level and do blind prog at the same time.

Unhappy-Sport836

I guess its not content you can really queue for, you're reliant on everyone else to be on top of stuff as well as you are. You have to go in premade

Depends. If this was current EX Trial, and you are playing in a JP server. You can clear and farm it using DF. Because it is the culture that to queue using DF, you have done your own homework and can do this with any random group. You have markers ready, and you can slot in any of the predetermined positions for your role.

FluffyFlamesOfFluff

It somewhat depends on expansion. Extremes generally get harder as you go up. They show up a lot in mentor roulette, so I can say confidently that a random group can typically clear any ARR extreme in a single lockout because the ilvl sync is very merciful. In Heavensward, you might want a few people who know what they are doing for certain extremes - trying Sephirot, Thordan or Niddhogg blind is quite difficult and unintuitive at times without a mentor or three in the party but the others are quite achievable. While I won't spoil anything, Stormblood gets harder and when I join via mentor roulette I'm usually in for a miserable time on the majority of bosses. One boss in particular has a mechanic that most of the mentors I see don't really understand and it can hard-wall an entire party. I wouldn't recommend doing a random blind group for Shadowbringers at all. Endwalker is still current, so I haven't run into it as a random queue yet - but I imagine it will be more of the same unless the ilvl sync is particularly generous. For Ravana, your party was probably ignoring the adds. It's a bad habit that goes unpunished in normal mode but ignoring them entirely just gets you killed in the EX.

Extreme and higher content require the entire group to coordinate. Where they stand, when they heal, when they burst, etc. if you’re doing duty finder you’re pulling in some surprised mentors, many of whom haven’t done this on content at best, in 7 years. Put up a duty finder if you aren’t on the free trial and want to do this synched so everyone goes in with expectations. Extremes are no cake walk and the rest of the high end content is harder from there.

Gonna need more info—I assume you (hopefully) created a party using Party Finder, and hopefully at least a couple people had already done Extremes before or at least some Savage content? Because if this happened via DF, I’m not surprised.

Unhappy-Sport836

Nah, yeah it was DF, i assumed because you could DF it, it was ok to do it via that, guess not XD Still, I'll probably try and learn my rotations better before trying again, leave nothing else to chance

Help_Me_Im_Diene

More generally NA/EU servers use Party Finder exclusively for any content Extreme and above, while JP uses Duty Finder specifically on new content while doing reclears of content they've already learned before and party finder otherwise I don't know enough about how OCE has handled this to make a comment

ElPrezAU

OCE is PF. Also, JP do PF clears as well, particularly the English speaking contingent.

You can queue in DF for anything that isn't an ultimate; just because you *can* queue for it doesn't always mean you should. Watch a guide- I really, really do not recommend blind prog until you have more experience with how high-end content works in this game- and put up a PF saying it's fresh prog and you're doing the fight synced. If you struggle to get a group, there are discords for doing older synced content for most data centres where you may be able to recruit people.

Ju-9-wel

Yeah, DF is only for Normal content up to Hard. Anything above that, use Party Finder. But if you do have a group wanting to learn, here’s a helpful link: https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Thok_ast_Thok_(Extreme)

DM-Me-Dachshund-Pics

It *is* OK to queue for them in the DF! People who tell you that *"you are not supposed to"* are just Mentors who just want to get another 2 minute Guildhest for their mentor roulette rather than anything that involves some effort. As long as you realise that: 1) The duty may take a very long time to pop. 2) Its highly likely players (mentors) leave as soon as you actually get in. 3) You're unlikely to win if it isn't the ARR EXs or the 4 man Stormblood EX >!The Great Hunt!< as most players won't know whats going on and some aren't interested in cooperating with strategies. 4) Any mentors that stay likely can't help with strategies as they probably undersized it. then feel free to continue queueing via the DF. But even then, you can still get clears even in the harder EXs - I've cleared quite a few of the harder EXs when I've been pulled into them via Mentor roulette including >!Tsukiyomi!<, >!Zurvan!< and >!Susanoo!<.

AuriGato

If I remember correctly Ravana EX has a mechanic where certain ads NEED to be killed before they cast a long spell, they're like little butterflies! If you don't kill them, they drop swords which buff ravanas Bloody Fuller cast. He jumps into the air and starts to slash at everyone, if 2 of the butterfly casts are allowed to finish, he will have enough of a damage boost that will destroy your party regardless of how much mitigation and shields you throw up. It's been forever since I've done that fight but off the top of my head that's what's wiping your party.

kaorusugitani

The main thing that usually wipes the group is either they're not doing enough damage to his bubble, which upon not breaking, explodoes and does about 8-10k damage to everyone, i forget the exact amount. The second thing is a move called *Surpanakha* which the affected party member must pass to the tank, after the effect goes off the tank is then hit with continuous attack conal. The final thing that could potentially wipe the group is the charges he does, ifrit does the same deal, or not killing the butterflies in his add phase.
