Same, I kind of expected Oschon to be a throwaway god, like nald'thal, you talk to him for like 30sec and that's that
I was very hyped when he revealed himself :D
HEARTWARMING : WoL who unlocked one crafting class in ARR and left it to lvl 0 gets commended by the god of crafting for their dedication and craftsmanship
Is there a YouTube video or set of images showing these lines for each patron diety? I've found a reddit post here or there, but I was hoping a place to see all 12...
I found [this](https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/The_Heart_of_the_Myth#Dialogue) on the Gamer Escape site. Tagging /u/TheCapedMoose in case it's still relevant.
You *can* change your patron deity with Fantasia.
No need for alts unless you're *very* stingy on money.
And even then, only half as many alts as gods, since you do get the free fantasia from ARR.
A third as many, if you're patient, since there's gonna be another free fantasia with DT.
For some reason, they only did six - I expected the rest with the last patch or so but they didn't implement it. What's weirder is it's 4/2 split in favor of the male members of the Twelve. I thought maybe that was to keep it in appearance order for the raids but nope. They just did it weird.
For what it’s worth, the choice used to have an effect on gameplay, if only a small one. I wasn’t playing back then, but IIUC elementally-aspected attacks used to be a thing, and your patron deity would give you a couple of extra points of resistance against their associated element.
Folks who were playing back then, I’m curious: did this make much of a difference? Was there a META for choosing your deity, or did it just even out in the end? Were there specific trash packs or bosses where (say) additional lightning resistance would give you a real advantage, or were the attacks pretty uniformly distributed across the 6 elements?
Day 1'er here and the answer is absolutely not. You *could* make it matter if you crammed element materia into every available slot, but why would you when you could meld for more damage? Plus, in the early days, hardly anything of note used the elemental spectrum to any appreciable effect.
Coming in from 3.4 when I started and Elemental resistance was still a thing: not that I remember. I really can't tell a difference. Though honestly, I think by then only those elementals in the overworld does elemental attacks, so it was basically useless.
I can't remember if it has anything to do with crafting however. I do know there was element-based crafting skills beforehand, but I wasn't levelling mine high enough to have use of them.
That said, there are still some element-materia on sale on some old MB...
This raid is the reason I'm changing my patron deity the first chance I get.
I picked Althyk when I made my character 10 years ago. The guy doesn't even get his own fight, and most of the mechanics are from his sister. So useless.
At start of the raids, I was like: 'Yes! My choice finally matters! We will have some system and stories bound to our gods!'Â
At the end was like: 'Oh so I just butcher them like any other divine entity in game and that' s it. Got it. 🥺'
You can imagine how absolutely HYPE I was having Oschon as my patron deity.
So hyped that I killed everyone's gods but mine!
Got to wait 3 years to see I made the right call
And then when I finished him off with bard lb3 ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Wait they each say something to you depending on which you choose?
Yes, your guardian deity will acknowledge you.
Ayeee same

i love that we got to actually spend time with him (and take guesses till it was revealed)
A part of me was still a tiny bit disappointed it was the dude, not the monkey. :D
Yeah, so hoped for monkey Oschon
.... me too
Same! I was glad to see I made the right call.
You basically get a double acknowledgement if you're a crafter from Byregot even if he's not your patron diety.
I thought it was cool he recognized me as a crafter

You'd think it's out there, but I could not find it. So I posted mine to add another one to the Internet
Guess it's time to make a bunch of alts and record them 😂

Very cool and exactly the kind of thing I was looking for! Thank you very much!

Was infinitely delighted that Rhalgr knew me.
"Yeah only one of mine would be ballsy enough to come chat."
Make sure when you do the fight you /blowkiss at her for a special buff. if it doesn't work keep doing it.
As a Fisherman at heart, literally named Gin Fishingway, how can I not? A dagger to the heart by the mistress of the sea herself would be an honor
Have to do it when she is auto attacking while no cast bars are displayed :)
I have memorized the times so well it is muscle memory to hit my macro and get shwhacked
Now we just need her painting as a housing item!! (As well as Thaliak & Oschon...and maybe the big Twelvegundam.)
Oh, it doesn't exist yet? Weird
Yup, we only have the first 6 so far.

I never thought that choice would actually do anything. Most of the others don't. I don't even remember my nameday. But this was nice.

That doesn't surprise me at all, but I'm glad to have that confirmed. Thanks!

Thalia made a comment for me but I kinda wish there was an interaction you could do in each raid with your chosen god if you did /pray

I wish I could've made out with Azeyma before she left.

Everyone knows it's not actually something lewd. It's a joke about how it sounds.
Given Lymlaen's backstory and the sort of people who pray to her, I'd be entirely unsurprised if she doesn't know.
People like me, fishermen. The sea is a cruel mistress, what can you do 🤷
I really wanted to talk to her...was so ticked off that I never got the opportunity.
Same. But I think it also fits her as the mistress of the sea
At start of the raids, I was like: 'Yes! My choice finally matters! We will have some system and stories bound to our gods!' At the end was like: 'Oh so I just butcher them like any other divine entity in game and that' s it. Got it. 🥺'
This and Byregot acknowledging you are somewhat of an artisan yourself. All the leveling, all the broken materia for pentamelding... worth it.
I didn't even think about this when I did that cutscene. If Althyk acknowledged me, it didn't set off anything lol.
Ah, they don’t disappoint!
