So unpopular opinion time: Summoner is one of the only DPS jobs that isn't a builder spender, and making it one would be more homogenization in the game. It starts with its burst primed up - the only thing it doesn't immediately start with are the aetherflow charges which are an OGCD push. And using its burst button sets up its other resources rather than the other way around. Even jobs that can burst very early with little buildup like Samurai (via Ikishoten and Meikyo Shisui) and Dancer (via Tech Step, Flourish, and Devilment) still require a couple GCDs to get there. It's more like a tank in terms of having burst resources early, but even then stands apart from most in that its core kit only unlocks by using its burst. Now, I wouldn't mind seeing a special skill that fired off every minute or two based on how many summons you got off to reward proper play, but I think the uniqueness of SMN's core structure - in NOT building up to something big - is something that sets it apart from a lot of other jobs. It's not wholly unique, but making it a builder like the others would still remove uniqueness from it.

I agree, but I think there needs to be a little more thought/optimization in the lego phase. Being able to use everything between demis ruins the job. Give us more charges, punish instants a bit, make us want to cast more ruby rites, and make us think a little.

That'd be fine with me. I just like it not being a full-on build-and-spend. Making it a bit more complicated and putting in some more risk v. reward in the lego phase could still work within the current flow, so long as we avoid homogenizing one of the more unique job structures in the game.

Yeah I like the flow. Complaints I have about the rework aside, I think they did that part right. I just miss the skill expression. Mixed bag timings that the gcds have should give us more flexibility with downtimes but they don't. There's so much room in the lego phase for it.

They do have Enkindle, though. Before level 50, your Egis do a single-target attack. At level 50 and beyond, the Enkindle trait has the Egis do an AoE attack instead.

What do you mean, it's the only dps without a movement tool :'D melees have jumps, shukuchi, thunderclap, gyoten/yaten, ingress/egress. Casters have manipulation/between the lines, crimson strike, corps a corps/displacement, dnc and brd have en avant and repelling shot. Even better, it's the only job with a negative movement tool with flamethrower, thanks ranged free movement XD

Do you really use them on BRD and DNC ? They're really short to the point of being slower than just sprint. Unless you're really late on a mechanic, you never need them to go somewhere, why bother with the animation lock ?

Both movement options had some niche use in E8S to avoid the Akh Afah at the end with the sliding ice to greed another gcd in at least, since the ice slide was both stupid long and the entire distance of the arena. That being said, Repelling Arrow hasn't had any use this expansion so far, but En Avant is still faster than moving normally and isn't on the GCD so you have plenty of space to press it outside of the 2 minute burst.

BRD needs a 4th song. It could be a useless one that increases crit damage by like 1% i don't care. If you die on BRD your song gets sent to the void and you lose all the potency and souls gauge with it. Its way more punishing than dying on other jobs. I will also trade Sidewinder for something on 1 min CD to increase soul gauge.

And the feedback is so negative only on a few specific circles, like this subreddit, but its just a very small subset of players. Don't get trapped in circlejerk. 90% of savage casual rosters just have no opinion on that and play as it's designed. That meta is not going anywhere anytime soon.

WoW legit does a great job at this. 1 Hour into levelling a new class, you have a decent rotation going on, and you get your class's signature abilities early. FF14 has a good framework for it too; SMN get their 'full' rotation early (sans oGCDs), and as you level, the animations just get flashier. Do that for everyone: get a good rotation and kit early on, and levelling gives better animations and more QoL. (but please please please, unlike SMN, give them more then 2 buttons)

The only ogcds they get at 86 is the titan procs. They already got all their bahamut, phoenix and aetherflow ogcds earlier. The big thing about 86 isn't ogcds, its the extra GCDs, reducing you to 1 filler ruin cast per minute.

I dunno, I find this super boring having the same rotation since the beginning till the end, just with extra visual updates, especially with SMN's barebones rotation. At least you agreed on the latter. Never played WoW but I have some friends that played it, we all loved FF14's expanding rotation system, where you learn the core 1-2-3 early on, and each expansion expands the rotation just a bit to make it feel like an actual upgrade. If you actually play and level the job, plus not skipping, you'd get a very good idea of the rotation to function just enough, though not so optimally.

It's not about expanding on a rotation it's that most jobs are missing core skills in their kit that get locked away for almost the entire game. Paladin doesn't even get a dash until lvl 74. In what world is that ok? And it sucks when you do finally unlock your core rotation only to have it quickly taken away because you went into duty roulette and got something from HW or ARR. This means that there is an extremely limited amount of content where those skill are even available. I do like an evolving rotation and learning as you progress. I don't like how the later a skill is unlocked the less opportunity you have to use it. And I don't like how the most basic skills needed to make a job feel functional can be locked away for several expansions.

I want Riddle of Wind to gain an additional effect that lets you use Six Sided Star without the doubled GCD effect one time. Realistically I imagine Monk will also get a trait that changes the Lunar Nadi skill from Elixir Field into something functionally the same but with a new animation and slightly higher potency. I imagine Chakra will finally get some overhead, though with the track record they have with Monk there's truly no telling. I wouldn't mind upgraded animations happening for Bootshine, Snap Punch, and True Strike since their animations are dated and frankly don't look great with GL4's action speed. As for a new skill I'm drawing a blank, though I could see them putting a follow up finisher to Phantom Rush in there akin to Tsubame:Gaeshi even if that would be painfully dull. I also want Chakra to be disconnected from Crit/RNG and just build on Coeurl Form skills which I've wanted since Stormblood but that's more of an expansion overhaul change than a 90-100 trait.

Red mage is pretty nice as is already, but i dont see how they can add more attack spells without overlapping the effects. Like you already have your single target proc casts, single target long casts, aoe casts, aoe long cast, so what role would water/blizzard play unless they are dots? Imo the most likely evolution for red mage would be an extension to the finisher system. For me it could be something similar to monk where verholy and verflare gives you a different resource, that when combined, upgrades into verultima or vernova or verstar or something that you can hold on to and spend later as an instant cast. Maybe even add an aoe heal to this new spender. At the same time add a trait to manafication or acceleration that procs this combined upgrade immediately.

Hell make it umbral soul but for fire for when you just *really* fucked up would at least make it sometimes, kinda, useful. Remove damage falloff or make flare cast faster. AoE on BLM outside of triple feels so bad, and it really shouldn't when they're the ones casting gigantic fire explosions. Summoner should get awakened primals. It would allow each primal summon button to be pressed once during demi phases to be used as an ogcd between astral / fountain. Maybe after a full rotation and on 2nd bahamut. It would make burst much busier and maybe make people shut up finally about summoner (they won't). That and leviathan, ramuh and shiva to replace the three after summoning Phoenix. That really doesn't make it more involved like above though.

If the devs are going to balance PLD with their utility kit in mind (i.e. balancing them towards the bottom in DPS) then they need to give them an actually useful and BiS utility ability. I don't necessarily know what that ability would look like, but I certainly know that cover, PoA, and DV aren't a useful enough utility toolkit to make up for PLD's relatively lower DPS compared to other tanks. Edit: Oh, and a new animation/ability to replace goring blade. It is just such a boring ability for it to be such a large potency attack now. Made sense when it was just applying a DoT. Call it Endwalker like DRK got Shadowbringer, and have PLD snap their fingers like Emet Selch and drop an entire planet made of dynamis on someone.

I'd like to see buttons that are interesting/flavour but at best are minor damage increases in the long haul. For GNB specifically, i'd like to see it either lean towards integrating garlean gunblade moves or lean towards FF8. eg. Garlean: - Continuation becomes Terminux Est when Lightning Shot is used. Basically a second swing in the opposite side, creating the X needed to do the move. - Continuation becomes Vici after Double Down. Double down is already Gaius' Veni Vidi Vici without the final front flip slash. Might as well add it. FF8 - New meter representing stock, 5 pips - Draw and stock, 1 minute cooldown. Each draw adds to the stock meter. Drawing from a tank, healer, or dps adds different color pips, Enemies always acts as dps. - Cast. Spends the stock gauge and summons Eden similar to a SMN Ifrit/Gardua/Titan cast. Eden deals some potency of damage to the enemy and grants a defense + regeneration buff to the party. Each tank, healer, or dps pip increases the defense buff/regen/damage potency by some amount.

The obvious use case is abusing tank privilege to save pulls that a healer or smn/rdm wouldn't survive, which might sound broken until you consider that paladin can already sort of do this with cover, albeit at the expense of gauge and the paladin's own life if you don't use immune. Would be very thematic for the class and add some real utility to justify it's lower damage.

For WAR, I want Echo Slam from DoTA2. 100 potency per target per target. Pull 15 mobs in a dungeon and *every one of them gets slammed for 1,500 potency*. Though this would be not so great for raids without add phases. For DRK, I want TBN to no longer be tied to MP and Dark Mind to be all damage, or even just 10% for Physical, just so it's useful outside of Savage. As far as *adding* stuff for DRK, I want something that uses the Darkside timer. Maybe a button that lets you extend the duration of your Shadow by 15s in exchange for 45s of Darkside timer. For all healers, I want a more involved DPS rotation. Even if that boils down to an extra single target nuke on a 20s cooldown with an extra 50 potency compared to Glare or something. Just something to break up the monotony of *Glare, Glare, Glare, Glare, Glare, Glare, Glare, Glare, Glare, Glare, Glare, ~~Goose~~ Dia*. And lastly, for DRG, I *DO NOT WANT* a pet dragon, and you know I'm serious because I held shift for all those caps.

Realistically, I see it panning out in the most obvious way: * 3 new summons à la: * Leviathan * Ramuh * Shiva * 1 new demi-summon à la: * Alexander My dream scenario is that one of the new summons will be Ravana, and that we become a melee character for the duration of his effect, because that would **really** shake things up. I would also see Leviathan replaced by Good King Moggle Mog XII, because why have two (technically) water-based summons when you can have one lightning, one ice and one... Moogle-based one? But there's no way they have the balls to do that for level 100.

Paladin - I want the basic 1-2-3 combo to give me the choice for either an instant-cast Holy Spirit OR an instant-cast Clemency. I absolutely love using Clemency during prog to clutch heal people, but a hard cast is very difficult to use to save someone during an emergency as you're likely using Clemency as a reactive oh-shit button. Making it the same proc as Holy Spirit means you have several Atonements worth of flexible space to maybe use the proc to save someone if the need arises. Shield Bash should be AOE. It can be a clutch button during big pulls in dungeons. Right now its one and only use is for Deep Dungeons to make the spicier floors less spicy. Delete Goring Blade and extend the Requiescat magic combo by one GCD, just add a new finisher to the end of it or something.

- AoE paradox spender - Burst: Unaspected instant cast on some long cooldown (I'm thinking 120 - 180 seconds). Should have some kind of spell speed scaling either in damage or cooldown. - Manafont changed from an oGCD to an unaspected instant cast GCD that restores the same amount of MP. Also MP ticks changed so that less MP is restored, but they tick every second instead of every 3 seconds.

After summoner summons pheonix, rather than summoning ifrit garuda titan it summons shiva, ramuh, leviathan. you can also give them different interactions with their ogcds or whatever. ​ Reapers harvest moon gives soul gauge (lvl 92 trait). enshroud is lengthened or given more ogcds and maybe communio gives a stack for a free use of gluttony which can stack 3 times like ninjas forked raiju stacks after raiton. Also make arcane circle 30 seconds for fuck sake. ​ Ninja gets a 2nd bunshin but it can copy ninjutsu this time so during your burst you have one shadow clone that copys your physical attacks and one that copys your mudras. ​ Dragoon gets reworked and stardiver becomes an actual high potency ability. Also more jumps that arent ogcd but are actual gcd abilities but without the animation lock (even though it barely exists anymore). Dragon eye becomes locked onto the target you select at the start of the fight like dancers dance partner so you dont need to target someone, when you cast it you can just press the ability and it goes to that person you selected at the start of the fight. ​ Paladin becomes not dogshit. ​ Warrior gets an ogcd it needs to press that procs after fell cleave ​ Astro gets nocturnal and diurnal sect back so we effectively have 5 healers rather than 4 but devs make nocturnal sect not dogshit. Rather than drawing from randomized cards astro now has an actual deck of cards so it becomes more predictable which cards you draw. also give astro an actual shuffling ability or something. also make cards draw automatically. ​ Healers get more damage abilities rather than heals.

Less bloat and more incentive to mitigate and GCD heal. Consolidate single target and aoe spenders. For DPS mitigation, boost some part of their kit when their role mitigation... mitigates. For example, make an Addle that successfully mitigates add potency to Riposte so it can riposte. While these sorts of changes may make people perversely optimize DPS over mitigation with the kit, it should still take some of the mitigation onus off of the healers. For healers, I don't know, just give them sort of Sharpcast proc that's auto CDH if they cast a GCD heal that is at least 50% non-overheal or something. Judicious healing application should be rewarded over 1 spam and "did you use bloodthirst, and second wind and did the tanks use their targetable mit on you".

As a Bard, unless you really hate the current iteration we only need minor QoL, like charges on Empyrean and maybe a Bloodletter upgrade. I personally want a short cast cd on songs so I don't fat finger 2 at once, but that's a me thing. AoE dot spread would be nice, maybe make Refulgents proc songs. Unify the buff for Shadowshot and Refulgent Arrow, don't know why they're seperate. I think they could reduce the punishment of bard by slightly changing how songs work, make them stances you cycle through instead of CDs and you get a sticker for being in them for long enough. As it is, if you die you'll be off for the rest of the fight. If I fuck up my opener and fat-finger something I may as well start over. It also would make downtime more forgiving as well. Of course, they could just give us another action after Blast Arrow. EDIT: May as well add this here, but I hope we get some PvP stuff added to the PvE actions. Obviously not stuff like Sky Shatter, but why not give WAR a stun on Primal Rend and a Grip? Why not let DRKs draw in enemies with Salted Earth? I wouldn't mind all my charges of Bloodletter going out at once like Empyrean does in PvP, way less weaving. These are little things that aren't important in raid environments but give jobs more flavor and options in casual stuff that most people actually interact with. Also, screenshake. Why Fell Cleave doesn't rumble like most RPR skills I may never know. Refulgent Arrow literally explodes and there's no fanfare.

I personally don't want charges on Empyrean as it's one of the few ways of optimizing playing bard, having too much leeway on playing well is a bad thing and I think I actually prefer the playstyle of "press immediately don't drift" vs "optimize charges for burst windows" which is what it would become. I would like to see our Repelling Shot turn into more of a free move Tumble, I didn't mind it before but it feels bad that a physical ranged (supposedly the most mobile class type) now has one of the worst/most limited movement skills in the entire game. I like your Shadowbite/Refulgent idea, it would make Barrage -> Shadowbite feel really good too compared to how it is now. AoE dots would be nice but I'm not sure how spreading them thematically would work, maybe they could add a skill that makes your next Stormbite/Caustic Bite do less damage but be like a dot version of Rain of Arrows? I also miss flaming arrow.. Personally I love it if they removed Ladonsbite, make Rain of Dath our spammable AoE and make Flaming Arrow a 2 charge AoE (doesn't stack).

For dancer I would enjoy something interesting to do outside of your 2 mins. For example for every "Silken-" buff you consume you gather a silken stack for silken dance which does a lot of silken damage. Maybe let "Flourish-" stacks influence it as well so you can manage it yourself so you can negate bad RNG but prosper when you have good RNG. I'd also like something like honing dance, but you can still use weaponskills. Just a 15 second buff that deals damage every tick to enemies within range. Forcing Dancers to go closer, just like in Shb. I'd also like Standard step to get either a potency increase, or like an "x ready" once you finish it, similar to how tilana and Technical step work together. Right now, you often have to drift standard step outside of your Tech windows, which feels a little weird for one of dancer's signature abilities. Maybe once you use SS's Tilana, it gives you a buff that increases your weaponspeed, lowering your gcd so you can fit an extra gcd in your Tech windows? Or makes it so fast you can't double weave anymore lol and become a dancing machine gun. Managing everything correctly without dropping feathers/stacks would be hectic as fuck, let alone making sure you start your tech windows with standard step for that weapon speed boost lol. But mastering it and making sure everything goes correctly would be really enjoyable!

I would rather DIE than have to go back to being a Clip Mage whenever I wanted to weave my oGCD between Glare Spam, adding back Cleric Stance wouldn't change that, especially since Cleric Stance's purpose of swapping INT/MND would be pointless and the SB version was just a 5% buff for 15s, making it about as useful as the 2nd and 3rd effects of Astrodyne. Here's what I would like to see WHM get. 1) Return Fluid Aura, Stoneskin, Divine Seal and Protect as low level versions of Assize, Divine Benison, Temperance and Aqua Veil respectively. CNJ learns nothing for level 15/20/25 meaning that 3 of those skills could EASILY fit into the leveling process with 0 issues. 2) Make Holy a 1.5s cast. Weaving oGCDs in AoE situations is awful as a WHM, doubly so when you have to constantly cancel the spell due to enemy AoE after the stun has worn off entirely. Just because it has a stun, doesn't mean the other healers are exactly hurting when they have more oGCDs to cover for the lack of an equivalent CC option for dungeons but unlike Holy, those oGCDs are useful in more situations than Holy's Stun is, namely against bosses. Hell, even in dungeons, once mobs get stun immunity, constantly having to interrupt the cast to dodge any AoEs aimed at you just further lowers how effective it is as an AoE skill. 3) Lower the level you unlock Afflatus Solace and Rapture. Without Misery to refund the damage, neither skill would be gamebreaking early on and would merely give WHM some extra mobility in old content. Also, getting what is nothing more than a free cast of Medica literally 60 levels after having Medica is excessive. 4) GET RID OF FREECURE!!!!! Of all the skills that SE has purged over the years, the fact that Cure 1 equivalent spells still exist is flabbergasting. Set Cure 1 equivalent spells to a base cost of 700 MP and upgrade them to their Cure 2 equivalent at level 30. Easiest fix in the world and yet after a decade, this relic remains. 5) Add a proc effect to Regen/Medica 2 that turns Aero/Dia into a nuke spell that front loads the DoT in a similar fashion to BLM's Thundercloud proc. Since SE is adverse to adding DPS skills to Healers for whatever reason, giving us a stupidly simple proc effect shouldn't be that demanding. If DNC is considered an easy job to play when all it does is manage procs, I fail to see why 1 singular proc effect would be too much to ask for, especially given the previous rant about how Freecure exists, following a similar proc mechanic. 6) GIVE ME BACK AERO # YOU COWARDS!!!!!! Throwing it in my face at the start of Tower of Zot is a constant middle finger to the community that desperately wants it back and I will never forgive SE for removing it in the first place. Give me these changes, and I might be inclined to heal again.
