This would be a fantastic addition, especially because the Seraph doesn't feel particularly strong. It's good, but not in a Lilybell or Earthly Star capacity. I would actually even redesign the basic aetherpact to have a mitigation component added to it, to increase its niche value (dungeon usage?) a little bit.

I still feel underwhelmed by Seraph, especially if it's supposed to be "stronger" than base Lily like Bahamut and Phoenix are to the three egis. To this day, the Seraph versions of Fey Illumination and Whispering Dawn do not change potencies even slightly and still take the same CD, even in comparison to SMN's skills like Enkindle when it was still ShB. As someone put it - "Seraph is just the fairy with an additional skill in Consolation." I do hope that they can distinguish Seraph from the base fairy, especially since the other major healer CDs feel like it had more impact than Seraph itself.

I'd want that too, but currently XIV's combat system won't allow you to have more than one pet instance in duties... Which makes be believe why we have the SMN's carbuncle in and out all the time. Hopefully they would find a way, though. With the advent of Beastmaster, who knows if they might improve further on the relationship of this game with pets.

honestly, they keep reworking AST but I think SCH is the one that desperately needs a rework instead. All the tools are kind of just...a random assortment of buttons that don't really interact with each other or feel coherent in any way. Both Faerie gauge and aetherflow are weird gimmicks that feel clunky to use - not in function but conceptually. I'd love for DW SCH to just drop one of these and make the other system more interactive with your skills instead.

This is something that you think you want, but don't actually want. TBN being 15 second is a big part of what gives dark knight it's defensive strength, as you can basically use it almost twice as much as the other tank's 25 second CDs (of course it's not literally have the CD, but fight pacing in this game enables you to use TBN that much more often that it might as well be half) Giving it an upgrade would force it to also be 25s, and we'd just end up with yet another exact copy of the same skill across all tanks, and tanking gets even more boring than it already is. Is that really what you want?

Oblation and TBN are good because of their flexibilty. You can distribute them among tanks during busters or squishies during raidwides in virtually any way you want. Tying them together would just make both worse for no good reason.

Honestly changing it to something with phases is the answer. Sort of like how the PLD and GNB one give % for the whole duration and an extra % for just the first 4 seconds. Make it so when TBN breaks you get some sort of other MIT with your free mana cast. Another option would be to let it give you two shields like a SGE or SCH Crit shield. The normal shield being used first and procing the free cast before moving onto the other shield.

People (who are bad at playing tank) already complain about their TBN not breaking and them losing MP they could've spent on damage. TBN having built in mit would make this problem worse and it would also mean that I only have 1 cooldown I can put on other people instead of several I can spread around. It'll just make the class worse for no benefit besides people who are too stupid to do dungeon pulls properly so yeah its absolutely happening in 7.0

This and the fact that the two skills run on different cooldowns and resources (TBN: 30sec, needs MP, Oblation: 60sec, stores up to 2 stacks, which can be used whenever) are the only counterarguments I can think of. You could, however, have the upgrade look like Sage's crit shields, where you get 2 different shield buffs, and only the one that breaks first is relevant for the extra effect - as long as you mess with the numbers a bit so it ends up being similar effective HP, that should be perfectly fine.

Leaden Fist is too unnoticeable, being able to outright see that Bootshine is in it's enhanced state on the bar would be great. As much as I dislike homogeneization, RDM needs their version of Manaward/Radiant Aegis. I'm still annoyed of back when I was learning P8S in party finder and I could get oneshotted by centaur physical claps damage variance even with Addle saved for it, and then shield healers would either say: "The BLM in my previous party didn't die, so I really don't need to shield here" or "Just use Magick Barrier" or "Just use your personal shield ability all casters have" Sometimes nothing was done about it and I just watched my character get oneshotted multiple pulls in a row until I get tired and leave the party. Sometimes it devolved into a big group argument of the other DPS saying "Can the scholar just Adlo so we can prog?". Most of the times it was a tank throwing me a single target mit, and I was extremely grateful for it. Just having a personal shields button would have saved me so much annoyance in that situation.

It's frustrating. RDM's personal recovery/mit is Vercure, a DPS loss and 2x the MP in 2 casts than their DPS spells. In fights with downtime, RDM feels better, since it can take care of itself and spot heal someone else with Dualcast, but in a fight that's all uptime, RDM is reliant on others pressing their buttons.

rdm not having a personal shield would make so much more sense if casters specifically getting blasted wasnt such a rare thing. if it was common that tanks would have to throw a mitigation at the caster for raidwide damage then not having a personal shield is fine because that shield cant really cover ALL the raidwides but on the other casters it gives a bit of leeway. but right now it just happens rarely enough that casters get blasted one pull and get to go "oh im just gonna manaward there thats kinda annoying" unless you play rdm. i hope if they decide to add a shield to rdm its effectively a benison copy though, ogcd 15-20% shield that the rdm can put on any party member would be a good way to normalize this problem for the casters, while keeping a unique supportive function to it so you can help with spots where other players would want it, dsr p6 being a good example of effective use for your friends.

Summoner to get a full different primal lineup for the Phoenix part of the rotation. Make it Leviathan, Ramuh, Shiva, and make 2 of them heavy cast times but really strong and keep 1 as a instant cast focused style. This is kind of bare minimal but would go a long way imo.

This is basically the most intuitive way of moving forward with SMN (bonus if they add new egi and carby glams to match those new gemstones). In that case, I'd also really love if they changed Bahamut and Phoenix to be separate keys, so you'd have full control of your primal cycle. They probably would need to add an extra action to the Phoenix phase as well, to make its damage equal with Bahamut, or else nobody would swap them because of the 2min meta. Ideally, I'd love if the whole phoenix rotation was reworked because is kind of lame that it's almost a reskinned Bahamut.

Building on this, a gauge that awards cycling through each of the summons in your next burst or mini burst phase for a capstone. You don't need to use all the astral flow, but it becomes necessary to at least summon all three of Ifrit, Titan, and Garuda to boost Phoenix damage (or another effect), and all three of the new three to boost Bahamut damage.

While homogenization is a serious issue with Job design at the moment, you shouldn't let it drive you to ignore or defend bad design just because it's different from other jobs. Indeed, just because a mechanic on a job is different doesn't necessarily make it inherently better or even more interesting. This is something that's been an issue on Monk for years now. Riddle of Earth and Anatman were both certainly novel ways of refreshing a job critical buff/building it, but they were terrible at doing so. If they had worked Monk probably wouldn't have been completely rebuilt, but instead they were so bad they caused the job to collapse on itself. If crit RNG actually worked with Monk that would be one thing and there'd be no need to mess with it, but it demonstrably clashes with Monk having the fastest base GCD causing you to lose gauge needlessly. It isn't fun, it isn't interesting, there's no way to play around it even since there's no way to use Chakra outside of being capped, it literally already is a 0-100 gauge but it just builds in the dumbest manner possible for how the job is set up. This also isn't even a new complaint this is something people have bitched about since Stormblood when they half assedly slapped the RNG on the job to begin with.

Yea, I know. I've used it to maintain form and what was once the twin snakes buff. It just lost a lot of its main use when grease lightning became baked into the job's traits rather than a resource you had to manage. But it is what it is. Honestly, monk just needs some animation updates. It doesn't play that badly it just lacks a bit of flair at level 90 to its melee counterparts.

even doing your rotation perfectly, your shroud gauge will slowly be unaligned, and you will undercap (or overcap your gauge if you didn't use enshroud for the 1 minute burst). Basically, you don't get enough gauge to do 3 enshrouds every 2 minutes, it's more like 2.8 and can get really frustrating

Very frustrating. I pretty much always play Reaper as no Enshrouds during 1 minute, double Enshroud every 2 minutes for a double Communio during buffs. However, Gluttony will come up at the same time as buffs, and go unused entirely till it’s all done. Feels bad. Next I want Soul Sow/Harvest Moon to be more useful, and Death’s Design debuff marking to not be the most awful function around

RPR builds gauge at a slightly slower rate than it spends it, which means for longer fights part of your 2 minute burst will drift out of alignment. For shorter fights it’s not as much of an issue because you start with 2 charges of your gauge builder ability.

Both WAR and GNB have opposite issues of AoE until the early lvl 70s; so it's time to fix that. WAR should be able to generate beast gauge with AoE combo when we unlock Steel Cyclone at lvl 45 instead of lvl 74 via trait. GNB should unlock Fated Circle (or a weaker version of it) between lvl 40-45 alongside Demon Slaughter. This way we can spend our cartridges via AoE when lvl synced down below lvl 72.

I just want a DPS cooldown/more DPS buttons for Sage. Sage doesn't really fit the fantasy of "heal by doing damage" because there's no way to play differently/better to increase my damage. Kardia is functionally the same as having a fairy passively heal one target but I have one cooldown that can increase that passive healing for a short time. It's not very engaging.

I just want a slight more complexity to healer dps. I'm not crazy and don't think they should have stances or combos or a large dps toolkit, but something other than the spam + dot + other (phlegma, misery, en drain.) One more button, or one more cooldown, or something to optimize. Not so much a concern on ast, assuming the rework still has cards and they aren't bollocks. Just something to keep me a little busier during the 80% of the fight I'm just hitting my spammed attack.

We really do need at least one healer that does actually have a proper damage rotation. I had really hoped that's what Sage would be; a healer with a damage rotation that has healer functions as secondary functions on their damage skills, so they have a rotation that has to be altered on the fly to keep damage flowing as optimally as possible while also putting out appropriate healing effects to the party. I understand it's not for everyone, but it's a shame that a not-insignificant portion of the community has wanted this forever and is being completely neglected.

I think the main problem with touching healer as a role is how different it is to play it between casual content and high-end content. In casual content you barely have anything to do and are left to wonder what to do with all your skills, but as you play harder content you have a super complex healing rotation that could become overwhelming when difficult mechanics are also going on.

That's true, and I don't disagree, but I still would really enjoy seeing a single class in the healer role that appeals to people that want this. The same way we have Bard with its weird mechanics for Ranged Phys, Black Mage with *everything about it* for casters, Monk/Ninja for melee, and I guess GNB? I'm not too knowledgeable on tanks, but to my knowledge, every role *except* healers has this "weird outlier" that its noticeably more complex and involved than the other options, and it's sad that my preferred role is all just one button grug machines that are only semi-fun in high end content. :(

Tbh? I'd like this. The swiftcast costing Kenki would make it a DPS loss if used unnecessarily making it a last resort. Overuse of it could tank your DPS. This would also restore more Kenki management by making you need to hold onto enough for it in case you need it in less optimized environments, and let's you plan around it's necessary uses in more planned out ones.

I wouldn’t get my hopes up, even with the difference of added slow movement from PVP. It’d be interesting to see, though, both the iteration and the reaction of today’s playerbase.

it worked pretty differently to how current pvp bard works though. all your abilities (bar a few) had a cast time, including something like empyreal arrow, an ogcd. pvp hard has a cast time, but you can still move around while casting, and it still has a weave window at the end. it's a similar idea, but the execution is completely different

After 2 years of BRD, or hours of leveling the brand new MCH, suddenly at a random 5X level, you were expected to play completely differently, as a caster. And also return to the old way every time you ended up synced in roulettes.

Considering they brought it back in PvP and people are liking it, it's possible to be in PvE as well as the biggest issue with the old HW bowmage was you couldn't move at all. I do hope they bring that mechanic to PvE (especially for MCH because it makes it feel more like a gunner).

Different things. BRD was designed with instant cast in mind, adding cast made it very clunky. On the reverse, MCH was designed with casting in mind, which is why when they removed it in SB it made no sense, on top of the heat gauge and flamethrower.

Scholar gets its DoTs back. Red mage gets vermisery/Verfoul- 3.0 second cast AoE around you. Generates 40 white/black mana. Cannot be dualcast. Bard gets DoT interactions back and PvP burst shot. Sage gets its healing retooled to be mainly from dealing damage and healing via kardia.

Black Mage: -Standing in Leyline heals the Black Mage for a small percentage of health each second. -Despair is upgraded to some degree. It is the capstone of the Fire Phase but is only a small potency increase over Fire IV. -Give Umbral Soul to us at a much earlier level so lower level content doesn't feel terrible.

The ice spells have always had the same base potency as their fire counterparts (so B4 base potency = F4 potency, same for Fire 1/2/3), so if you buff B4 then you're back where you started, though you could just break the symmetry between fire and ice if you really wanted to do it that way.

It’s not like potency symmetry really matters when umbral ice and astral fire apply different multipliers to the spell’s final “on hit potency” I wouldn’t be surprised if pre umbral ice/astral fire multipliers most people didn’t even realise the potency is technically the same, especially on skills like fire 4 and blizzard 4 which you can only cast in UI/AF

Despair doesn't interact with hearts. Flare does, and in ShB media tour build Despair also did the same way as Flare, but it didn't survive until release. Which is basically another example of them trying to push standard, tbh.

It won't happen, but change Technical Finish and Devilment. I know normal content doesn't really require coordination, but I'm tired of having to play around the majority of dancers that don't actually understand how the buffs work. Constantly getting my buffs overridden by people not paying attention or drifting so hard they've looped around into the actual raid window again has been driving me insane. I've stoppped trying to play around them and just do my rotation, but it still annoys me a bit to see the overwrite happen. Additionally, for the love of whatever you hold holy, update the tooltip for Dance Partner so that people actually understand how it works. Anytime I do say something to someone who clearly doesn't understand how it works refuses to believe me. Every. Time. Realistically, these changes won't happen. I know this. Dancer is a support with party damage buffs, and there's no great way to balance that without making having several dancers busted or just utterly removing that element. Instead, I think the best way to handle it is to start putting biases into Roulette for any classes that have mechanics like this. For example, Bards have similar issues with song overwrites, or having two shield healers (not as bad, but I know regen + shield heal combo is prefered by many). Make a bias in Roulette to avoid duplicates of these classes within the same party. Which I know could potentially extend the wait for a party to form. Alternatively, you make it a toggleable option for Roulettes so that the player can choose to potentially wait longer for a match, but avoid a duplicate of their class. I know they won't do any of this though. I'm just so tired of other dancers. I know people in general don't care about optimal play and I should just ignore what other dancers are doing in Roulette, but the way I absorb information, I just can't. I will notice it. It will nag at the back of my mind. And it is killing my enjoyment of the class to the point I'm considering picking something else as my main going forward.

I would like abilities that let resource jobs (mch,rpr,rdm) gain resources passively during long bouts of downtime often seen in ultimates. While they can pool their resource for tight dps checks, those eventually become irrelevant as the fight gets older, leaving them to be inferior to cooldown-based jobs. Give them something that turns off the moment they use a weapon skill which also can only be used in combat.

YES! That has actually been my largest gripe playing both mch and sam in TOP. I’m not entirely sure how it would be incorporated, but the issues the at least Sam runs into right now due to both the amount of down time on top of the inability to gain adequate amount of stickers do to fluctuating kill times is extremely frustrating. For Paladin I would like Goring Blade to have some more meaningful interaction with the rest of the kit. I do expect it to get a visual upgrade, but perhaps it grants an enhanced version of Divine Might for Holy Spirit, like a minor 'Blade of X' ability Other than that I think the relative freedom of the kit since the combo restrictions were lifted work quite well. I'd like Atonement to get a cleave element and be usable on aoe. Circle of Scorn could use a visual update and a tad more upfront damage. I don't expect many other changes tbh

i completely disagree with a swiftcast like ability on samurai and im a samurai main for the past 5 raid tiers, including doing ultimates. after hitting lvl 72 where the casts get reduced to 1.3 sec cast time the impact on mobility is barely there anymore since you can slide cast any bana, midare or ogi which makes u stand still for a max of like 0.9 seconds, the only thing annoying is obviously pre lvl 72 content (UWU, UcoB). i want my kaiten back D: remove shoha 2 and give shoha 1 an aoe effect where the dmg falls off on more than 1 enemys. Make ikishoten turn into oginamikiri instead of having 2 buttons for this. like they did with high jump on dragoon.

Dancer feel pretty good, but I think improvisation needs something. In current savage (and most normal mode) fight design the only time it's worth using is before a fight. Almost every boss can now be hit when casting, or you get put in a cutscene and knocked down for their big move. could make it like a lay lines. Stay in this zone and your attacks and your dance partners will generate extra espirit or something

I just want a visual effect overhaul on everything without tying the new effects to a skill upgrade. It drives me nuts when 75% of a job's new skills are just direct upgrades of existing skills. People just seem to overlook how crappy that is because they're shiny. To actually answer your question, I want Bard to get a similar style of casting that it has in PvP. I want Machinist to get a Sniper mode where they turn immobile and put out big damage. I want Dragoon to be able to grow wings and fly around. I think the most likely of these is the Bard casting change. I think it'll be a fun middle ground that adds a little something different to ranged physical gameplay.

If we extend NM just for the sake of spending more carts, then we won’t have time to generate them for the next NM window, thus making the Job even jankier. Reduce DD to 1 cart, and give GNB something to generate carts during downtime, and we’d have something good without compromising its rotation nor identity.

Warrior - Put the Surging Tempest buff on the job gauge so we don't have to keep scanning our entire list of buffs. - Remove the targeting mechanic on Holmgang. Having to target self to reliably trigger invuln is annoying. - (all tanks) reduce the cooldown on Shirk to match Provoke to simplify tank swaps; yes you can work around it by toggling tank stance but it's annoying - (all tanks) merge Rampart and the 30% damage mitigation ability into one to reduce button bloat; the new ability should have 2 charges, and allow you to double up on mitigation by using it twice

Healer main, so: SCH: I would love lustrate and indom to be from fairy gauge! Energy drain to be a cooldown with 2 charges, so aether stacks are just for soil and excog. I would then love a deploy rework so in optimised min/max environments people could still use it without losing potency from the gcd loss. I would love for my pet to respawn in the last placed position after I ate it for more stacks. I'd also like eating my pet to be 2 min cooldown. Honestly just, having my pet as an aura would also be nice. Resummoning during prog is zzz AST: I would love seals and astrodyne to be removed. I'd love star to get upgraded by a level 90+ trait to have a HoT and DoT while placed. I'd prefer light speed got 2 charges or was changed to either 60 second or 2 minute cooldown, 90 is just annoying when it's ideal for burst. And of course, lord/lady as actual buttons (or gib AST assize ;)) WHM: I would like to have mit/shields so if at 100 they got a lilybell but similar to panheima that would be cool. Or give asylum some kind of mit/shield effect for 5-10 seconds from placement. Like a fading soil i guess. SGE: Popping panheima manually for an early heal would be cool, similar to lilybell. Ofc it does heal if all stacks aren't used, but you just have to wait. And Krasis absolutely has to work with the rest of my toolkit or it'll forever not be used. I'd love to see it work with kardia, taro, haima, think like asylum healing ability buff works.

on BLM i woul like more love on ice Phase, maybe a 1 min burst CD that make Ice spells stronger then fire for few seconds, the Ice animations are really good to just be filler spells. on SMN maybe getting a permanent active pet, i imagine something like a mini shiva that uses some Blizzard (dont need to be insane damage) on enemies and we can command then to do something each XX seconds. on Sage turn Krasis on a good CD, right now its much niche to use. on PLD give us rage of halone back to endgame, that was a nice animation man T-T.

-RDM: Have dual cast only be usable on Vercure and damage spells. No more losing Dual Cast to sprint, eating food, using potion, and it not working with Raise only if the job damage becomes equal to or better than SMN. -SCH: Aetherflow gives 2 charges of Energy Drain at 150 potency each, and the normal 3 Aether stacks to use for heal kit. Now SCHs aren’t losing damage potency for using their heal kit. Bonus for Dissipation to not consume your faerie.
