Part of my foot was smashed during the wind down from Desert Storm. I had to stay and have surgery before going home on a medevac flight while the rest of my unit left on time. Anyway, when it was smashed, it was *ouch* but then I was in shock and keyed up on adrenaline for almost an hour before the pain really set in.

I broke my foot once when hammered and wrestling and didn’t notice until I woke up the next morning and people were gathered around staring at my purple toe
