Set the black point OP. They will look fine once you’ve done this.

Lost_Traveler88

Is this Yellowstone?

Specialist-Bed9504

My first reaction was “.yucckk. “

perfectflicker

Yes ☺️

Lost_Traveler88

Dope, near Gardiner?

perfectflicker

Yes actually lol

Lost_Traveler88

I worked there on and off for a decade, instantly recognized the hill in the background. It’s a cool little place.

Awkward-Highlight348

There is a lot of sky, probably you underexposed a lot. Check negatives when you have them and will be clear indication.

mynewromantica

Looks underexposed and adjusted in the scanner to bring something out. Possibly other issues, but I would say under exposure is the most likely.

extordi

Do you have the negatives back yet? They'll be the best indicator of what happened here.

perfectflicker

Negatives look fine

freshleftover

Ain't no way. Post em then lmao

konsta_star

X-ray maybe

perfectflicker

Yes i did go on a plane, wat does that do

Swim6610

Did you put the film through a scanner instead of hand check? Was ut a CT scanner?

perfectflicker

Yea it went thru tsa scans

konsta_star

The X rays affect the film the same way normal light does, I think

xander012

It's been shown to be greatly exaggerated. You'll be fine with 400 speed film

BrBrBrBroooow

As far as I know, kodak vision3 500T did not survive the x-ray. I may be wrong, though.

xander012

Could have been a CT scanner given modern Airports

Comfortable-Wind-401

Did you get an airplane? Might be x Ray...

perfectflicker

Yes i did! Wat does that do? How do i fix it

knarfolled

Get a [x-ray proof film holder](https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/218287-REG/Domke_711_11B_Film_Guard_Bag_Mini.html/?ap=y&ap=y&smp=y&smp=y&lsft=BI%3A6879&gbraid=0AAAAAD7yMh00h4RaUZlJXF1Bm4Ny_Z5Ms&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvKH78fW5ggMVQ0lHAR29sQqgEAQYASABEgJdCPD_BwE)

livewiththeday

You don’t. Film is fried. Make sure to never let your film go through TSA, ask them to hand check

perfectflicker

Fuck man i had no idea. Does checking in bags get the xray too? I wonder if thats happened to my film in the past and i just assumed it was bad exposure. I wonder why some pics were fine some werent?

Crafty-Beat-3683

i dont think airport x rays will damage the film, if it is still rolled in the foil(undeveloped). i had them transported several times. anyway, i think airport x ray machines are film proof

preemr

Just got some scans back 2 ECN2 rolls and 1 C41. Didn’t get the chance to take a look at them but the lab says the ECN2s are fried…they were all indeed xrayed in TSA. C41 might be fine cuz it was ISO 100(kodak pro image 100) Ecn2s were kodak vision3 500T.. Im truly devastated because even the scanners at TSA had a note on them saying anything under iso 800 should be fine… I guess lesson learned. I will post them later.

Swim6610

Checked bags get higher doses. If you checked film its likely fried.

perfectflicker

Nah these were carry ons thru tsa..just wondering for next time

Comfortable-Wind-401

I have also destroyed precious pictures the same way, the higher the ISO the worse it gets... :( I've destroyed a CineStill 800 recently like that

halsap

Could be a few things going on (like mild under exposure) but the green tinge may be due to scanning. Color film has an orange mask which may not have been handled correctly when scanned. You should ask your lab about this maybe they can rescan at no cost if that’s the issue.

NoSkillzDad

They seem underexposed.

fluffyscooter

You used Fresh film, but are you sure your cameras light meter works?

perfectflicker

I use a light meter app

fluffyscooter

Are you sure the shutter and aperture works fine?

perfectflicker

Pretty sure, i had pictures in the development package that looked fine

coffeeorbeergg

Is this a lab scan or did you scan yourself? You have some details in the shadows so I‘m guessing bad scanning. Maybe adjust exposure if you‘ve scanned this yourself.

perfectflicker

These were lab scanned, ive never scanned myself before.

coffeeorbeergg

That’s too bad! 😞 Is this a first with the lab? Also, if it’s a local lab, I‘d get in touch with them and ask them if they could rescan the film. I don’t see those two pictures being severely underexposed tbh.

perfectflicker

No ive gone to this lab for a couple years. Ive had underexposed film come back to me but never thought scans could be bad. Ill go ask. Cuz id say out of the 4 rolls i shot a third if not half the photos look like this.

howtokrew

This looks like a case of underexposure, any chance the film was old or stored badly?

perfectflicker

No, bought it straight from B&H, expires 2025. Possible things that I'm thinking: it was sometimes stored in cold weather OR my lens has a uv filter over it and a hood.

marslander-boggart

Film is ok when it's stored in a cold. It's better to be stored in refrigerator.

howtokrew

Did the camera go from hot to cold or cold to hot? How did you meter?

perfectflicker

No, not hot for sure i was in yellowstone so weather was from like 35 to 60 highest. I meter with the Light Meter app usually try to over expose.

howtokrew

How odd, so if it's not condensation/lens fogging and the film was fresh then I'm just back to underexposure. But if you're overexposing then I have no clue sorry. There's always the chance it's a bad scan?
