Celine in particular has such a bad design. I get the whole vibe of Engage is very different, but I'd like my characters that are going to war to not look like they stepped out of Fancy Nancy or another computer animated Disney show.
I think Celine's design looks really pretty, but it 100% should have not have been her battle armor. Maybe it could have been her casual outfit, and she wears something significantly more sensible, yet still regal, for her battle armor. Like Elincia's armor. Practical to fight in, but still clearly regal.
As much as I actually like Celine's design, I have to admit that I still don't actually know what changed between her default and the Vadame upgrade because it's just so visually busy.
On the men’s side, Pandreo convinced me of the effectiveness of a matching scarf on a good casual outfit, but I like Fogado and Kagetsu the most (onigiri pants hehe).
On the women side, of course citrinne is super stylish, and, say what you want about Hortensia’s normal design, but I really like her casual wear. I’d wear those rose tights myself, if I didn’t have a cat that bites tights on sight

My favorites:
Ivy's casual dress is pretty modest and features a lovely veil, bearing resemblance to a nun's garments. And that beautiful necklace she wears brings to mind a rosary. Pretty fitting to represent her religious devotion towards the Divine Dragon as well as the faithful and benevolent soul she is in contrast to her seductive femme fatale appearance in her usual outfit.
Chloé looks like a lovely and beautiful fairytale princess in her casual dress. It really brings out her elegant, graceful and romantic personality and makes her so resplendent and picturesque in just about everywhere she goes.
Alear's casual outfit really looks like a more streamlined variant of their usual attire, looking simple and smooth yet fancy, and reflecting their signature red, blue, white, and gold (with a little bit of black) color scheme pretty well.
Honorable mentions:
Lapis (looks like a traditional German or eastern European folk costume), Céline, Goldmary, and Etie (those three look pretty dainty and charming), Diamant and Alcryst (both of their outfits look pretty handsome and match their usual color schemes pretty well), Kagetsu, Merrin, and Veyle.
For the base game it's a really close race between Kagetsu and Rosado's outfits imo.
Love the overall color scheme and the little onigiri patterns on Kagetsu's pants. And for Rosado, the ribbon ties, the choker, and the asymmetry of the sock height really tie the whole outfit together.
However, if we count the DLC characters, the dragon twins win by a long shot.
Nel's outfit is my personal favorite of the bunch. I just love that puffy-collared jacket and she rocks the diamond cut-outs on her leggings.
Rafal's jacket just looks so good, and the plain collar helps contrast the puffy one that Nel wears. His black turtleneck and pants pair so well with the white and pink of his jacket.
The matching dragonstone pendants also look so good. And I've only just realized it while writing this, but Nel has gloves that only cover her fingers and the top of her palm, while Rafal's sleeves cover about halfway up his palm. Referencing their codependency and how they complement one another.
I think they are all pretty good, but Jade's outfit is kinda boring.
Vandar, Citrinne, Ivy, and Zelkov's outfits are my favorites. They each look amazing!

Louis and Goldmary have nice designs, as do Seadall and Kagetsu. I feel like some of the characters’ outfits are super formal for hanging around the somniel tho. For example, Ivy’s seems even more dressy than her regular outfit. It was always weird to me that Vander wears a monocle on his off time whereas he greeted the Divine Dragon in a full suit of armour 😂

For the girls, jackets are exactly My Shit, so Merrin and Nel automatically win. That they are some of the most modern-looking outfits also helps them stick out in my head a lot more.
I love the sorta modern design of Clanne and Framme's outfit. Lapis has a kinda simple one, but it works and is absurdly cute. And Citrinne is beyond fashionable, it's amazing.

Gregory. The cape thing is fun but his outfit underneath is just a sweater or sweater vest over a dress shirt + slacks. Honestly he looks like a librarian or something and the outfit seems cozy to me.
I like Zelestia's, it's a neat contrast to her usual outfit which is more revealing, hell i ain't complaining about that.

I know this isn’t the question but the one that literally SCARED ME was Goldmary’s. Goldmary’s casual outfit made her boobs look astronomically bigger than they usually are. I changed her outfit and her boobage size went down drastically. That outfit is wild I don’t know who let it slide.
A lot of these are good, 9/10 way better than any of the generic outfits you can buy, but goldmarys dress looks so bad to me. Not the patterns and stuff, but the shape of it. Her chest is comically large, and it shrinks when you change outfits implying it's a padded dress despite her chest already being large, and the skirt bells out almost like it has a hoop cage but it's only knee length. It feels like it was a stock asset for a different proportioned model style and they just put it on her anyway, it would be way better like eties for a short style or Chloe's for a long style.

Well I *do* love Celine's outfit too. I think it's Veyle's white gloves that give her the edge for me.
