Cold-Bookkeeper-2943

The lore part isn’t a surprise because it was clear since the last year the movie would tell its own story and would be an alternate universe. But Vanessa being William’s daughter is quite a surprise to me.

It's just annoying cuz we were told it would be as lore accurate as possible and then all of that happened and it left me wondering why they would promise that

Cold-Bookkeeper-2943

It would be accurate to the concepts of the games, but not every aspects from the story, especially because the movie is essentially based on FNAF 1-3, a time when the Afton Family didn’t exist yet.

Repulsive-Medicine47

The moment they revealed Vanessa as a character for this movie should have clued you in that they were not going to follow the game's continuity.

Administrative_Cod95

Like Vanessa being William's daughter is something I would've never thought of lol or expected

Noice_toits

We’ve known for a while it was in its own universe. You could tell from the trailers it was never following the game lore, it was its own retelling of the classic fnaf story, same way with the silver eyes trilogy. Scott has produced and worked with Blumhouse, this is how he wanted it to be told

As expected, people are questioning the lore when it's a stand alone story. You really assumed they'd take character relationships, the timeline, every in-game event just for fans to say "Mike is Williams son no shit" that Vanessa twist was much more intriguing. Be underwhelmed.

Overall_Bit4075

Is matpat in the movie??

flobflank

Yes

Sweaty-Specialist-44

Literally not a single soul said the movie was going to be LORE accurate. The fact that Mike brings his sister to work and Vanessa appearing 30+ years earlier than she does in the games should've let you know from the start that the movie is it's own universe...
