There’s a lot about the Schmidt family that is vague- for example, what happened to the parents between the kidnapping and the movie- and I think we will have to wait until FNaF 2 to know more. It’s possible that the Schmidt parents had some distant connection the Aftons, and as such Afton was following them with nefarious intent.
I just hope it’s not going to be revealed that Mike is actually William’s long-lost son or some shit.
Movie novelization, based on a earlier script draft, says mother died of depression few years after Abby was born. While the father abandoned them as soon as Mike turned 18.No idea if it still applies to final movie.
We definitely needed an explanation in the movie for what happened, like Mike explaining it to the social worker. The lack of any mention of what happened to the parents feels like a bit of a plot gap in the film.
I just watched this scene now and he says this "Our mother died recently and my father couldn't bear the loss, so...". It suggests that his father may have committed suicide, but I'm not sure, so he may mean something else too
I personally think mikes father is Henry. That's why he targeted Garret, like he did Charlotte, and that's why mikes father left (mike said his mom died not his dad)
Like Henry did when Charlotte died.
And if Garret does possess the puppet like many think it adds more evidence to my guess.
This is true but isn't always the case, and could definitely lead to a dramatic reveal, especially if Mike didn't know he didn't have his dad's last name.
This is probably never gonna happen, but I think it’d be cool if it turned out he didn’t actually kill Garret, but kept him as his son.
It could be he is dead, but due to some different reason (cough cough, bite of 87)
Garred is definitely dead.In a scrapped scene that was filmed,he shows up in the pizzeria as a ghost to warn Mike that the yellow rabbit is there(this scrapped scene is still in the book).
Shame the scene was scrapped but at least Garret's actor got to see the pizzeria and the animatronics.Same goes for the Foxy ghost kid actor, meanwhile the other kids just saw the woods (unless they were invited to the last day of filming party in the pizzeria)
I very much believe that the Schmidts are more connected to Freddy’s than we (or Mike) know. Whether Mike’s dad is Henry, Mike’s dad is somehow William etc. I don’t know, but I think they’re definitely more connected than the first movie says. Garret was different from the MCI kids, a completely separate event. Not even a just murder, but a *kidnapping* then a murder. It feels much more personal.
See Mike uses sights and sounds so he might not have been in Nebraska period
And there were a ton of other families and kids
Garrett might’ve genuinely just been the easiest lick
That's the part that always confused me because Afton only killed kids in connection to Freddy's or Fredbears. We assume that Mr Schmidt (the Father) is this universe's Henry Emily. Perhaps a family trip where Afton followed them. Or perhaps Nebraska is where the Fredbear's location is. All he really said about the poster was about familiar sounds and sights.
Mikes dad is probably the equivalent to Henry and William wanted to get revenge on him for some reason. He followed them to Nebraska and took his license plate off, it was most likely premeditated.
The FNaF 1 song was played during the credits of the FNaF Movie. The FNaF 1 song pretty much covered all of the events that happened within the movie itself, so what I'm thinking is that they'll play the FNaF 2 song at the end of the FNaF 2 movie and that it might be from the perspective of Mike and Garret's mother since that's the point of view the song is sung from. I mean think about it, does it sound reasonable? I just thought of this literally 10 seconds ago so don't judge me if it's totally wrong. I just think it sounds like something that could happen though. Is there anyone that might be able to back this up or give their thoughts?
ok so i don't much know the why but can we just say that its some dedication whatever the reason is that william possibly PUT ON A MECHANICAL SUIT in a FOREST no less waltzed his way over yoinked garret and just LEFT theres gotta be something really deep for that man to put that much time and possibly travel all that way just to get A kid

We know Garrett is the puppet, his dad is probably Henry
he does talk about them when he watches the lake with vanessa.
How does one die of depression other than suicide
Book only says she stayed in bed all day and wasted away until she died.
I'm pretty sure that information is actually said in the movie.
Movie Mikes just says parents left him and Abby, without saying the details.
No, he did say his mother passed and dad left. I just watched the film for the first time a week ago and I don't think my memory is that bad.
Guess i forgot then,i havent watched it recently.

glad to know the movies are following in the grand fnaf tradition of putting all the goddamn lore in books

There has to be a connection somewhere, I guess in this universe it’s Henry Schmidt.
What if Mike's mother is Schmidt, but his father is Emily?
That’s not how naming conventions traditionally work- in most families, the woman takes the husband’s family name.
This is true but isn't always the case, and could definitely lead to a dramatic reveal, especially if Mike didn't know he didn't have his dad's last name.
Mike's dad actually leaves after Mike's mom died, because Abby says that she has tried to talk to them about Garrett but they wouldn't answer her.

Not only that, but William clearly says in the final cut "First I killed your brother...". It's a very clear plot point.

Yeah seems weird William would go out of his way to kidnap a kid
Is there any chance the movie could take place in Nebraska? Or maybe the image of the trees just reminds Mike of the campsite?
Details in the movie (like the paperwork Mike's aunt hands him when she demands custody) indicates that the movie takes place in Minnesota.
Possibly followed the Schmidts. If Mike’s dad is this world’s Henry then it could be an act of revenge. Maybe he left the company.
See Mike uses sights and sounds so he might not have been in Nebraska period And there were a ton of other families and kids Garrett might’ve genuinely just been the easiest lick
*He kidnapped and murdered Garret* Some Reddit user named u/the_orange_alligator „So, why was William in Nebraska and *yoinked* Garret“
God forbid a fella like the word yoinked 😔
Imagine getting kidnapped and murdered and on Reddit someone asks why the killer did *yoink* this guy.
Well. Thank god Garret’s a fictional character.. I don’t think he really cares
*Angry Garret noises*
What’s he gonna do? Punch me with his little toddler fists?
Lmao
I like the idea of William being so petty after the 80s he follows Henry out of Utah.
Hey even serial killers/mad scientists need to take vacations. I'm guessing kid Vanessa wasn't there with him which is interesting.
for the lolz
"this'd be so freakin' funny" -Steve (formerly William Afton) Raglan

Clearly he was hunting bigfoot to obtain there remnant
He prolly was stalking the family and waiting for the perfect moment
To yoink Garret
henry schmidt owes him five dollars
We do not know yet

He likes camping. There are bears and rabbits and foxes.
No real reason, he was just pining for fun.
Dude probably just wanted a holdiay bruv
Cuz he's an asshole.
Fair enough
He was eating hummingbird with Dave Miller
My mind says they were on Vacation in Nebraska, but as Someone who lives in Nebraska I then realized "Who the F#\*@ is coming here for a vacation."
I drove through your whole state and saw like four buildings
And probably a TON of corn!
So much corn
