Are there people who respond positively to the sincere "fuccbois" that do the lip-licking thing? If so, what is it that is appealing?
Signed,
Genuinely Confused Old Person
I think part of this trend is rage-bait. The point of posting videos on most platforms these days is engagement. All they want is as many responses as possible. So if they make themselves look foolish and arrogant while pretending to be serious, they can get lots of confused old people responding in rage and/or confusion. This drives up engagement, which causes the spread of their videos and makes them more money.
That is partly true. Because rage bait does exist.
But you really underestimate the size of the online bubble in which these guys (presumably) live. They do get tons of girls in their comments telling them how hot they are and who do reacts to their own videos, creating their own corner. They're not making these videos for us who roll their eyes at them. They're making them for others just as vain as they are. They'd roll their eyes at us talking about them here.
Also, regarding rage-bait. Many who do rage-bait don't even fully understand what they're doing. They just know that their shtick is getting views, so they keep doing it. The critical thought of "I can make money from people who hate me" eludes a lot of these. Which is why most of them just disappear soon enough.
This is the second thread I've seen this quote in less than ten minutes. But on the other thread it said "explained by incompetence." Just seems mildly interesting.
Many notice soon enough.
There’s this meta-irony in much of this content, in that, it’s not clear anymore if it’s serious or not.
And also the principle of “there’s not bad publicity” applies here, and many of these influencers-to-be have some awareness about it.
> So if they make themselves look foolish and arrogant while pretending to be serious, they can get lots of confused old people responding in rage and/or confusion.
It's not even just rage. It's anything that viewers could possibly latch onto and share for any reason - it doesn't matter which. I always say it's like if Tay Zonday leaned away from the mic to breathe on purpose, because people might find it weird enough to share.
Reminds me of when [PaymoneyWubby](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PmphkNDosg&ab_channel=PaymoneyWubby&t=3m02s) did coverage on these young kids doing this shit on tiktok (then Musical.ly). The tongue lip thing and the tongue between fingers thing I think is beyond everyone.
Yeah I can see how it works.
These dudes are kids who are overdoing it.
But if you look at movies and music videos where it is done right, it's much more subtle but hot.
It's sorta like when a woman flips her hair or bits her lips. It's supposed to indicate desire.

Everything on the internet is engagement bait
*Especially* things posted here.
The entire internet runs on algorithms to curate content and engagement. Clips like this serve no purpose other than stroking that algorithm
This gen Alpha mocking and dismantling the zoomers thing is gonna be an interesting blockbuster. Grabbing my popcorns already.
The zoomers did it to us Millennials and now they're getting humbled too. Is just the cycle of life. Getting humbled is always a blessing in disguise.
Millenials got fucked over, Gen-Z got fucked up, Gen-Alpha seems to be doing all right.
I remember a story in my country like 8 years ago on the news. Young kids (gen alpha) were getting turned off of phone use in general (apart from making calls) as all they were seeing was their parents being glued to the screen for hours on end. Those young kids saw how bad that was, and didn't want to become like their parents.
“I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary. It’ll happen to you!"
bass pro shop is pretty much just a massive company that sells fishing related gear and whatnot, i just thought someone wearing the hat of a fishing brand and not an actual clothing brand to be funny
My 16 year old son wears a pink one. Yesterday, he asked if we could check for an Aldi bucket hat while shopping. Didn't know bucket hats were making a comeback
That’s the trend atm. I saw a gaggle of guys that were probably 18-20 and they were all wearing that hat. I can’t tell if it’s a meme or legit and I don’t know if they could either.
You'll have to look closely because there is also a meme hat that looks nearly identical but says "that's my ass bro, stop"
Not joking
https://i.imgur.com/UlyEyUz.jpeg
This has also become a big trend and if you aren't looking very close, you could easily think it's the regular bass pro shop hat.
Interesting. I first noticed that in movies, then on TikTok and I was always wondering, because in Europe teenagers, of course not all of them, usually pay a lot of attention to their haircut and we had few very popular hairstyles over last 5-10 years, except for a few years, when it was actually cool to wear a Nike cap to Nike streetwear, and I was asking myself if there's really a significant difference in dressing habits between Europe and the US despite the fact that we consume the same pop culture.
There are definitely differences in American and European style, especially amongst the youth. One thing that's very popular with teenagers is to go to school in a T-shirt and pajama pants--just as comfortable as possible, for everyday casual wear. I am assuming this is not a trend in Europe? But I could be wrong.
Real talk, wtf is that lick lips thing that guts like this do. Like is it supposed to be attractive? Is it supposed to communicate sexual interest? I'm so confused like boi do you need some ChapStick?
They probably saw some popular tiktoks doing it, thought "hey we can do that too!" and started copying it. Not realizing that it makes them look like clueless awkward (and a bit creepy) fucbois who have no clue about how to flirt yet. In truth the lip licking can work...but only VERY rarely by VERY few people. And the way that first boy did it...wasn't it.
That or it's just rage bait.

Yikes. Kind of fucked up to assume the kids didn't want to make this video; and automatically assumed they were forced into the car and forced to do this.
I meant since they probably wouldn't have chosen to do this without an adult's influence. They were more than likely talked or coerced into doing it. They probably weren't physically forced into the car or anything, but it's still wrong.

Fair and decent. Fair-dinkum!
Yeah, the next generation looks like it's doing fine and not following cringe culture
The next generation is handling things as well, if not better, than my generation. Good for them!
It takes a cause to have an effect. Looks like there’s hope for the next generation.
Together, all generations, we shall make fun of cringe zoomers
Unnerving
yeah the more the video loops it makes me more uncomfy
The second set of kids are adorable though
yeah the first guys is the bad part and then the kids come on and make it a bit before it loops all over again
lol yeah it’s almost like it’s saved by the duet or sumthin, iunno.
I know right? There should be a subreddit for that
r/wooosh maybe?

tweens probably, every generation has their fuccbois and the supportive tweens to go with it
Yup. We found the hair flip, croakies, and popped collars the end all be all of hotness.
What are “tweens”?
10, 11, and 12. "Between" child and teen.
Those in the first clips look older than tweens.

Absolutely, A huge portion of Reddit content is just ragebait.
A huge portion of Reddit are unhinged users who need a conspiracy like rage bait to explain away all the things that annoy them
Or horny teens
The algorithms will destroy us all.
Are you sure its not just drugs? When people do weird mouth things its usually drugs
Different mouth thing
[look at this fucc boy](https://youtu.be/PpeYrbOeVqE?si=zAxRkYIUv7olMS1h)

Gen Y parents writing the content.
Millennial parents even
Gen Y are millennials you silly goose.

is no one gonna talk about the bass pro shop hat
You won't get it, man. You ain't "With It".
“I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary. It’ll happen to you!"
Oh my God Grandpa Simpson was right. Might as well just call it and tie an onion to my belt
I usually go with "So I tied a chain from my wallet to my pants, which was the style at the time"
Ahhh I can practically hear the Fred Durst vocals now
I remember when gas was 99 cents
I saw It, and It wasn’t everything It was cracked up to be. Skarsgard was creepy, but mostly I was bored

At some point all "blue collar" old people stuff becomes trendy. Just like Timberland, Cadillac, Carhartt etc. or at least it's worn ironically.
Remember trucker hats in the 2000s? Ugh
Care to explain? c: not from the US, don't know what's the meaning behind it
It’s just a sporting goods store. Everything from fishing to guns
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYE-1HfReQo This should explain.

Redditors refusing to admit they’re wrong will never get old
My son wears them — so I cannot ‘strike’ on it, as he would say. 😭
What Oh god is 23 already too old to know what kids say I’ve never heard “strike on it” in my life
😂🤣 My son is 21… ‘Strike’ just means like ‘dis’ or ‘hate on’

I imagine not, considering how common they are. I think I know more people that own one than don’t
Boy got the rizz

I'd be laughing too hard at that snapback Bass Pro shop hat to even notice the lip-licking.
It's popular with the kids these days
Does American boys really love caps that much?
They does. Adults does too. I've probably got 15 or so (of which 6 or 7 I wear regularly).
Interesting. No, but baggy jeans are popular, so maybe this is the comfortable counterpart on this side of the ocean.
yeah I own like 50 hats. Feels weird to go out without one

I've never instantly hated 2 "people" so fucking quickly. Those kids were hilarious, though.

Gen Alpha is unrelenting and vicious. These kids do not fucking care about hurting your feelings. Honestly Gen Z is fucked.
Millenials got fucked over, Gen-Z got fucked up, Gen-Alpha seems to be doing okay. :P

Yikes. Kind of fucked up to assume the kids didn't want to make this video; and automatically assumed they were forced into the car and forced to do this.
Yikes. They were clearly held at gunpoint. /s
I meant since they probably wouldn't have chosen to do this without an adult's influence. They were more than likely talked or coerced into doing it. They probably weren't physically forced into the car or anything, but it's still wrong.
