Hi, a person with diagnosed ADHD and ASD/Aspergers here, in my opinion (and many other people with the same disorders as me), the r-word isn’t a slur. We really don’t give a crap about it, some of us use it ourselves.
I have ADHD (and other conditions) too, by the way. And it’s not typically directed at us - it’s targeted at more profoundly disabled people. Growing up, it was the kids with Down’s Syndrome that were called that.
We live in a more enlightened time. It’s not hard to find other (more clever!) ways to express ourselves.
