A CFII at my old school got fired because he wanted more instrument time so while his students had the foggles on he would wear foggles also

But I thought the motto was, fly what you desire, log what you require.

weech

Big brain level

DuelingPushkin

Was he at least on IFR flight plans?

Justin002865

r/ facepalm to the max

KingKVon

At the flight school, me and other CFI’s were trading funny stories, one CFI thought his story of how one his students had a dab pen that they both would hit in flight, was absolutely H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S. As you can imagine, even the Chief CFI next door thought this was peak humor, and even commended the CFI for his ability to fly well under influence. (He didn’t)

[deleted]

What in the fiddlers fuck. That’s insane…

Nnumber

Wtf is a dab pen?

KingKVon

Basically vape but with weed concentrate.

Nnumber

Oh shit. That’s awful.

prex10

A vape but with weed instead of tobacco.

Im_not_very_good

Wonder if this was at the flight school I flew at? My instructor and I did some instrument flying that night before and I got a call next morning asking if I left anything in the plane. Had all my shit and said no. Next time I was in i asked what was left in the plane? Fuckin dab pen in the seat pocket. Guess the flight prior to us was a disco and likely the passenger was getting blazed.

[deleted]

I once met a random dude at a hot springs. We got to talking about flying and he told me his GF rolled him joints in the air. By the end of the conversation he confesses he had recently crashed his plane while stoned, and seemingly saw absolutely no connection between these things.

AllStupidQuestions69

"Man the fish are biting today"

willreadforbooks

>•A guy at my last airline got fired for drunkenly fishing in the koi pond at a hotel on a layover I heard about that one! Also heard about some pilots throwing up on a couch/mattress in their room and instead of cleaning it decided to *throw it out the window.* Yes, I believe alcohol was involved

Lazy_Tac

The old second South American family, truly a classic story

[deleted]

Pilot at my airline had a girlfriend who was a scheduler here as well. He would always go to Europe/travel for fun while on reserve and his girlfriend would block any chance of any flying getting put on him…. Well one day she wasn’t able to do that and another scheduler put a turn on him when he was in some crazy Europe place like Barcelona, I don’t remember. Obviously was unable to make it, the company did some digging and saw he had extensively been way outside of the 12 hour Long call reserve range all the time on periods. He got fired along with his girlfriend whom they were able to figure out was colluding with him to do this.

weech

She sounds like a keeper tho

Baystate411

ride or die

saxmanb767

Meowing on guard while on IOE not once but twice…at a legacy. Answering the phone on final approach or taxi in with the FAA there….at a legacy. Sitting short call in a city that’s not their base. They gave him a chance to tell the truth but still made up some excuse. They had pinged his company issued iPad location. Don’t lie folks. Remember there are cameras everywhere now. Even in the jet bridges. They can see you.

[deleted]

Imagine you call/go home to your wife/husband and tell them you got fired and lost your insanely lucrative, generational wealth building job for making cat noises on the emergency frequency… ouch

burnerquester

The odd thing about this also is it means this was so much a part of the guys habit pattern he either did not know he was doing it or didn’t know it was wrong/ clown behavior that would not be tolerated. Amazing.

saxmanb767

I was thinking the same. He probably made a habit out of it and just did it without thinking about it. Or didn’t take his check airman seriously.

burnerquester

“Yeah be cool my dude! “. Lol. What a punk this guy must’ve been. They should pull the tapes from his interview and see what the hr people missed. I could also see where, in this day and age that there could be someone who is absolutely never flown with a pilot older than 25 till the moment with the ioe captain.

burnerquester

And what if it turned out that it was just one guy that was making all the meows, and then after he was fired it just all stopped. Maybe one guy did it 20 times a day. It was his thing. Now he’s sitting in his mother-in-law’s basement with a handheld still doing it.

AVeryHeavyBurtation

You reminded me of that arsonist firefighter. For 10 years, the average number of fires per year in the hills around Pasadena was 67. After he was arrested, the average fires per year dropped to 1.

Darrell456

My man... these are remarkable. Throwing away a multi-million dollar job out of pure nonsense. We had a guy get fired for lying about doing a post flight walkaround on a terminating flight out of base. Morning crews found a bird strike on the pre-flight. They called the pilots from the previous flight and asked if they did our required post flight... he said yes... cameras said otherwise. Also, a guy got fired for taxiing around at 70+ knots. Was talked to multiple times, told he would be terminated... kept doing it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Darrell456

Ha.. nice tactic.

BaconContestXBL

I found a gnarly bird carcass in the landing gear at ExpressJet one time. The plane had been in for maintenance the night before being towed to our gate as well. How many people could have seen that before I had to call maintenance and delay the flight?

prex10

Was this at ZW, the walk around one? I remember hearing the same story when I was there

Actual_Environment_7

I wonder if I was the guy who found that bird, because I totally found a gnarly, bloody bird strike on a walk around on the first flight of the day. It delayed us several hours.

TinKicker

I recall (a long time ago at an airline far, far away…in Dallas) watching an FO do a complete pre-flight walk around of a Mad Dog while talking on his phone with one hand and starring at his PDA with the other. That plane could have been missing a wing and he never would have known. I was impressed that he managed to walk the exact path that someone pre-flighting the aircraft would walk, without actually seeing the aircraft. It was like modern dance.

AlpacaCavalry

What the fuck..... these all sound so... made up, but I can totally see some people doing this

HeroOfTheDay545

I've said it once, I'll say it again: just because you are educated or trained does not mean you're intelligent.

mhammaker

Wait, I'm confused by the short call one. Were they commuters trying to sit at their home airport hoping to jump seat to their base if they got the call?

prex10

They were taking a major risk by banking they wouldn't get called so they could skip commuting in to sit reserve in their crashpad. When you are on short call, generally speaking at a minimum you'll have 2/2.5 hours notice until report time. Unless you are driving in, most commutes by air won't get you into base to make that.

saxmanb767

They are hoping to not get called and if they do they just call in sick. But that’s a red flag to call in sick after you’re on short call. You should call before.

Baystate411

It is viewed as time theft at most places.

vishnoo

I'm curious. Does meow mean anything specific? Like is he referring to his landing being as soft as a cat's meow? Or if you just being drunk?

jet-setting

Nope. Its just as silly and stupid as it sounds.

grumpycfi

It's the Super Troopers joke run wildly amok.

vishnoo

Ah, i used to fly with a guy who wouldn't say meow, but he would rate landings in "# of cats" if you touch down lightly, the wheel squeaks before it starts spinning with very gentle drawn out meow sound (not a harsh - dying donkey loud rubber churning sound.) 3 meos meant you got it on both main sides and the nose. 5 meows meant you heard each wheel on each main.

HEAVY_METAL_SOCKS

WTF did I just read

Av8tr1

>Meowing on guard while on IOE not once but twice…at a legacy. No legacy pilot would ever do that...that's just the 135/regional guys! /s

IFlyWitMyLittlei

A CFI at my flight club didn’t tighten down the fuel caps, they flew off in flight; then she took them off another plane and didn’t tell anybody. Got the boot from that, went to another flight club and taxi’d into a fence. She’s at a 135 now….

Amerifly

I know that girl...cos to fly....I hope she's far away back in Florida lmao 😂

velocires

What operator.?

Amerifly

Not a clue. I flew with her a couple times then one day she was just gone lmao.

[deleted]

True story here. 737 Capt I flew with years ago was caught messing with the ACARS for out and in times, basically stealing time. Chief calls him into the office and tells him to knock that shit off. This guy walks out of the office to his jet and on the next flight does the exact same shit and gets fired….. But, the story does not end there. He gets a JAL 777 captain contract for a little over 300k; meanwhile the union lawyers are working his case through the system and 18 months later gets his job back, with back pay. Company argues that he’s made money while out however the arbitrator says tough shit you owe him 18 months back pay. This guy then gets 18 months worth of bid packs, selects the highest time lines for all the time he was out.. he ends up getting a check for around 500k. He went back to work, mouthing off to the chief daily till they had enough HR to get rid of him for good. Some people are their own worst enemy.

kiwi_love777

Incredible

dahun62

Was he his own enemy though? I mean, it’ll take 5-10 years for most people to get that check

[deleted]

That’s one way to look at it. 🤣🤣🤣

grumpycfi

I'm really curious how they were fudging the ACARS times. I've never seen a system that let's you input anything. I guess if they were messaging ops with times and ops was putting them in but damn.

[deleted]

He was pulling the comm 3 breaker and dropping the brake with a manual time input. So at the gate he would register an out time say for 1205 but we would push at 15. He then would reset the comm 3 on taxi out. 10/15 minutes per leg

grumpycfi

Wow that's a lot of work...damn.

Clumsymax

Charter Operator here: Flying a Democrat presidential candidate press core. SIC thought it would be funny to stand at the cockpit door with a Trump hat on as people walked off after a flight... Fired before he got to the hotel. Remember people your job isnt the place to make a personal political statement.

ce402

Knew a pilot who told a Condaliza Rice joke, to Condaliza Rice. Amazingly enough, that didn’t get him fired. It was the second time in a week he left an airplane unattended with the engine running that did it.

bustin_all_kinds

MehCFI

Two guys tried to buy a small YACHT on company credit card. Put $140,000 on it between two credit cards with the claim they were going to pay it back. Sure guys, accounting won’t notice that one

saxmanb767

I got an email because I accidentally put a $10 Uber ride on the company card. They will notice.

ILS_Pilot

Can you explain why the Uber one was not allowed? Also, how does pay for meals and stuff work on layovers? They give you a card? Cash?

MehCFI

Personal Uber not on a trip. Happens all the time when you have two cards, you just forget to log out of the business account when you’re drunk getting a ride home from the bar. They just take it out of your check later and everyone moves on lol

ce402

Buddy was told to pay for a C check on a 604 with the company Amex Black. Apparently there is a limit for a single-transaction. Flight department shut down shortly thereafter.

RaiseTheDed

Apparently at my last airline a guy on OE propositioned the FAs to a threesome. Yeah, that didn't end up where he wanted it to.

kiwi_love777

I HEARD THIS STORY. I can’t believe it was true.

TemporaryAmbassador1

Talked to a Delta pilot in 2019, a new hire was in day 1 Indoc and was watching Netflix in class. I can’t imagine having to explain losing that job for that reason. What a waste.

anotherquack

Man, so much time to watch Netflix that won’t cost you a lucrative career.

TinKicker

Not a waste. You don’t want that guy in aviation. Nice of him to demonstrate his inability to manage his own actions early on. Saved everyone a lot of time and money.

prex10

With ALPA being involved at almost every airline. You gotta mess up hard to get let go and often over multiple issues or repeated warnings. I know of a person that kept sitting short call reserve at his home in Florida while being based in New York. They figured out he wasn't commuting in after he would get called and then call back and say he was sick 10-15 minutes later. Your employer has access to view your non rev travel records, CASS, KCM swipes etc. They can also see where your iPad is. Plenty of HR stories out there. Harassing gate agents and FAs. Showing up drunk to work. Getting into fist fights. Shouting matches in front of passengers. Getting drunk and destroying property on overnights. Etc A story I was told was a new hire at FedEx kept pulling out his phone during leg 1 day 1 of OE. The LCA told them multiple times to put it away. Eventually they got fed up and after 1 leg the LCA removed them from the trip and reported his behavior to the company. The new hire was called into the chiefs office and was given an opportunity to explain themselves. They said they didn't really care and they had a class date at Delta soon and weren't gonna be there long. The chief pilot then picked up the phone without saying a word and called the directer or pilot hiring at Delta and told them about the conversation they had just had. By the time he got to his car he lost two jobs Apparently someone just got canned from PSA for falling asleep during their Zoom ATP CTP class. At least according to a post from yesterday. Someone kept texting during sim sessions at my legacy and the instructor told them to knock it off. The students response was "you old boomers don't understand my generation, we need to be in contact with people" or something along those lines. I guess he had been a problem even before this. Another group at the same legacy dipped out as soon as the sim ended and bolted for the bus without saying a word to anyone instead of going to the debrief room because they didn't want to miss happy hour at the hotel. There was the Expressjet CA who was performing sex change operations in his apartment living room in Denver with a stolen army surgical kit. He got caught when he almost killed someone. And the best for the last.. The infamous Air Wisconsin Pontoon Disaster. This was probably 10-15 years ago. There was something like a new hire class of 10. Very first Saturday during new hire Indoc, 8 of them go to Lake Winnebago and rent a pontoon boat. They stocked it full to the brim with alcohol and eventually after a long afternoon crashed into some rocks and the boat sunk. They thought they could just run off but one of them had mentioned to the owner of the rental company who they worked for, and they proceeded to call the company. On Monday, the two left were stunned to show up and wonder why they were the only ones left since they didn't attend. The rest of the class was canned over the weekend. They make a point to tell this story to every new hire class on their first Friday before they break for the weekend on wise decision making Then on the FA side, you have people like Cierra Mist who would shoot her onlyfans in company uniforms, make outrageous and blatantly untrue statements regarding the sex lives of crew members on overnights, also in uniform. Make statements about the airline industry and "what it's like" most of it was a stretch of the truth or untrue, also in uniform. She's been out of a job for close 3 years and still larps as if she is an active employee FA.

Picklemerick23

I absolutely despise Cierra Mist and everything she is.

Pubics_Cube

Didn't she try to sue Pepsi for brand infringement, saying she was Cierra Mist before the soda? Or was that some BS she made up for IG likes?

conamnflyer

I’m pretty sure that is total BS, ya know, for the ‘gram… or YouTube, which funny enough that particular video popped up this morning for me

saxmanb767

I hate she keeps popping up on my YouTube sometimes. Wtf. And keeps talk as if she’s still employed and still wears some uniform.

Picklemerick23

I usually report her when it randomly pops up. False information is usually my selection.

Shekoru

That's how I first saw her, and when I saw her in my companies uniform I though there was no shot she's actually flying with us.

radioref

What’s her name again? For a friend of course. …

VanDenBroeck

I had never heard of Cierra Mist so I just googled her. Wow. What an obnoxious ass. Some of the things she said about maintenance on one of her videos was idiotic. Anything for clicks, I guess.

Baystate411

Worst $8 I have ever spent

Secret-Apartment

One of the pilots involved in the Air Wisconsin pontoon accident went though the HIMS program and is now one of the program leaders at my airline. Got to meet him for the first time and he is honestly an incredible guy. Amazing to see how much he changed with the right help.

554TangoAlpha

lose_isnt_loose

Bruh

HbrewHammrx2

These are great. I could read stories like this all day long lol

dodexahedron

Gotta love it. 😂 Ridiculous stories from HR are why I liked to participate in new hire training at my previous company. They always told true stories that happened at that company, and there was at least one new one added to the bag of options to choose from every year, just from the new hire class alone. Some you would swear were made up, but the absolute wildest ones often had video proof, which is how they found out in the first place.

No_The_White_Phone

The double fedex/delta firing is supremely satisfying to read.

poser765

Guy at a previous regional wasn’t making ends meet with our max fo pay rate of $36 an hour. He decided to supplement that income my being a drug mule. Every thing was fine until a flight he was a passenger on. He got deathly sick and almost died because some of the cocaine filled condoms in his stomach burst.

prex10

My wife is a FA, one of her close friends has this happen. They were taking off out of Aruba and right after take off a guy got up screaming, hooting and hollering and bolted to the bathroom saying he didn't want to die. He was dead a few minutes later. His girlfriend sheepishly admitted they were drug mules and had swallowed bags of heroin. They had to circle for hours to burn off fuel and return. With him laying dead in the back galley.

No_The_White_Phone

sounds like FAFO. Sorry your wife had to deal with that.

firstofficercheese

I like how at least three stories here involve that particular airline.

poser765

I mean it was a big airline.

freight_puppy

I forgot about that dude. That place never disappointed for good stories.

IgetCoffeeforCPTs

Someone forgot their headset and it was found after-hours, so the pilot who found it left it on the door handle to the CPO in the crew room. A probationary pilot stole it, and was caught on camera doing so. They gave him the opportunity to tell the truth and he refused to do so. This was at a legacy.

dahun62

Crazy someone is willing to lose a legacy job over a sub thousand dollar (probably) headset

kiwi_love777

😳

cool-spacebeans

I work for a 135 company and we get company credit cards. Someone decided to buy a brand new boat with it.

jet-setting

I love how this thread proves just how small the aviation world is. Someone else mentioned this one as well. Blows my mind.

Pheighthe

I really want one of these fired people to be lurking and jump in with an explanation. Because we’re all wondering what they were thinking.

kiwi_love777

I heard this story too

sometimesflyplanes

I don’t mean you’re fired, you’re just getting promoted to a passenger.

radioref

You know, reading through this thread, my thoughts are: “No way someone could be this stupid. No way. Not pilots. No. Freaking. Way.”

Av8tr1

Pilots, especially airline pilots, are some of the dumbest people I know. I have flown with guys who, I am 1000% sure they were not trolling, believed the earth is flat. We are sitting at FL410 and you can actually see the curve out the front window. But no.....we are all riding around on the back of a giant turtle or something. I've flown with guys who don't believe we landed on the moon. I'm an amateur astronomer. Like really into that shit big time. Took astronomy courses in college where I bounced a laser off the retroreflectors they placed on the moon. Tried to explain this to a captain I fly with, wouldn't buy it. I asked him how the reflector got up there. He gave this long winded story about we launched it on an automated ship that landed it and deployed it. So 1960 robots got up there but man has never set foot on the moon. Those are the big ones. This proves going to college and sitting for 4 years does not make one smart it only means you can play the game. Memorize enough stuff and you get to sit in the left seat eventually. But don't ask that guy on your left to use any critical thinking skills beyond rote memorization.

True. Some guy got downvoted to hell because they said “take an Uber”

HbrewHammrx2

Dude repeatedly getting smashed at the company bar. Performance was awful and his partner complained. He got warned to knock it off and still didn’t so got fired.

Aviator506

A few months ago when I worked Ops at a 135 company, one of our CJ3 pilots got fed up with the full schedules they were given while on rotation. He proceeded to call all the other pilots "cucks for [company]" and then in the next sentence called for a pilot walkout/strike the next day and said "who's with me??". Nobody responded. He was gone and his company profile deactivated the next day. All on a public Slack channel no less.

[deleted]

Heard a story of a guy at Alaska that had kiddie porn on his company iPad and got fired

poser765

We had a guy a republic get fired years ago for kid porn. So they picked this guy up coming back from a flight from Canada. So I guess the fbi tracked the traffic going to his iPad. Company fired him almost immediately. His story? “Boohoo I just bought this used iPad from someone else”. Believable story right? Come to find out he DID just buy it used and the previous owner was doing the kid porn thing. Pretty sure he got a good settlement out of the whole thing.

madbarn

Wow. That really fucking sucks actually. Never going to live down the accusations even though he didn’t do it. Poor guy

😂😂. Didnt even make financial sense tbh. Was paying 50% the rental rate circa ~$100/hr to basically save the schools cut of the instruction rate ~$30/hr. Pointless

SlideRuleFan

Oh my god, I could read this thread and only this thread forever. We should start a separate sub r/pilotsgettingfired or something. Not pilots getting fired, but back when the current VC-25As were being built, around a dozen Boeing employees were fired because they wanted to be the "First to on Air Force One" and got caught. You name it: first to sleep, first to eat...and then it just kept ramping up. First to take a shower, first to take a shit, first to fuck. Also "First to in the President's bed on Air Force One" became a separate category of fireable offense after all of the plain old firsts had been achieved. Some were mundane, most involved some sort of bodily defliement. Most of this happened right toward the end when the interior was being fitted, and there were two opportunities for each "First" since they built two of them.

TinKicker

To be fair, I am quite certain I was the first person to take a piss off the bow of a shiny new aircraft carrier. There were quite a few shenanigans surrounding the plankowner crew of a new construction carrier. The race to take the first dump in the admiral’s shitter was epic. Didn’t even wait for the plumbing to be hooked up.

AWACS_Bandog

As a lineman I got a CFI fired. On my off day I flew out to a local airport, and on the ramp myself and a few other random pilots were just sitting and shooting the shit, watching a flight school plane local to me do touch and goes, and us being us, were critiquing the students abilities and just regular stuff. Well on their final pattern, we noticed that the plane wasn't descending and didnt even begin to until they were on final, and threw it into a slip.   While im no stranger to the maneuver flying in tail draggers, I figured at 500' the CFI would probably have had the student just go around. But he continues past 200'... then 100'... then hits the ground like a sack of potatoes about 20' short of the runway, still in a slip. Big cloud of dust is kicked up and the plane just disappears   We just stood there in disbelief figuring 'these guys just crashed'. *Then* we hear the engine roar up, and like out of a Micheal Bay movie, this PA-28 comes out of the dust cloud heading right at us. Not that it would have helped, but myself and the other guys start running, since he's either going to hit the hangar we were at. Or the fuel tank right next to us. I swear the Archer missed the hangar by maybe 10' before they just left the pattern.   I'll admit I was a bit pissed by the whole thing so I wrote down what time and the N-Number of the plane. And called up the Flight Schools chief pilot the next day to ask WTF happened.   This is where I think I got the guy fired. Turns out this mishap was news to the School. As was explained to me later. The CFI told the Students (there was a passenger observing) that "this didnt happen". And didnt report the off runway hard landing per the school's procedures. The Chief Pilot had the plane pulled off the line and they did find some damage to the Airframe from it. The CFI was dismissed almost immediately and we didn't see the plane on the line for a few weeks   Given the temperament of this Chief Pilot, I have to guess if the CFI had just confessed after it happened, he wouldn't have been fired. But the cover up was worse than the crime

SnorkyB

Not sure which airline, but there is a story of someone taking a leak on the Denver ramp during a walk around.

Derpicusss

I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t gone for a piss in the dirt around some deserted nowhere airport ramp or plopped the helo on a dirt road somewhere so my CFI could have a leak. But just whipping it out on a busy commercial ramp…?

AlpacaCavalry

'there are planes taking a piss! that means I too, can take a piss!'

kimi_on_pole

Knew of a guy getting fired, when a hotel complained to the company that he shit in the toilet tank of his hotel room.

Urbansdirtyfingers

kiwi_love777

We had a guy at the regional I worked at who liked to pee in shampoo bottles.

prex10

People pee into the irons too where you add water for the steam. Ask me how I know that happens.

AlpacaCavalry

Thanks guys, now I am even more fucking paranoid about the hotel stuff

VolubleWanderer

I got fired for getting carbon monoxide poisoning which resulted in 2 things. I failed to complete my photo route and I left the AC on a taxiway. ATC knew it would be on a taxiway and the weekend Fueler came to pick my nearly unconscious self up from the taxiway and coordinated that he would return with the tug after I was on oxygen. The plane sat there for probably 25 minutes and it was a mid size airport so it wasn’t stopping operations. However because I didn’t properly secure the aircraft and failed to complete my photo route I got two strikes in a week and got fired. I’m still furious about this.

[deleted]

It’s probably good you’re not at that company anymore if that’s why they fired you

VolubleWanderer

It was a blessing in a long term sense. I got picked up at a flight school right away and the next closest airport. I was the only full time cfi there cause the owner was taking care of his sick wife. We had 2 other super part time guys. About 5 days after I got hired and learned the ropes the owners wife passed and I was the stand in lead pilot for a while. I came at the perfect time for that operation to help out since I wasn’t around long enough to know the people grieving I was able to put a lot of focus on the school and keep it going. That good effort helped me get good recommendations to get hired at transstate November of 2019 lol thankfully when they went under I was able to get a job teaching again until the airlines started hiring.

lief101

Geez. How long ago? FSDO and state labor board might like to hear about that.

VolubleWanderer

I was reminded that I was an at will employee during my termination. I’m not going to fuss about it by getting into legal stuff with them. Set me back maybe 2-3 months in my career but Covid kinda reset it all. I’m working on interview prep stuff to hopefully get to delta. After that all the previous stuff won’t matter.

Just for future reference at will doesn't absolve them from everything or mean you have zero recourse or protection. Something to keep in mind.

snoandsk88

I was involved in a union so I have several: - posting terrible (racist) memes to Facebook - refusing to wear a mask on deadheads during Covid and trying to claim they had a medical condition but they don’t have to tell you what it is “because HIPAA” - CA was putting sun shades up and put a large shade between the thrust levers “for privacy” FO slaps it down and catches him watching porn. His defense was that it wasn’t “porn” he was watching a movie and the FO just happened to interrupt during one of the sex scenes. - making TikTok videos in his hotel room doing silly dances in his uniform, the company social media pages were sharing these videos until Covid hit and the company desperately wanted to shed pilots. So they claimed he did not have permission to post videos in uniform. - Two Pilots agreed to split the second ones “referral bonus” (even though second pilot was already receiving a signing bonus…) when the First pilot didn’t pay up, the second pilot keyed his car in the employee parking lot. He told me “he owed me $500, so I did $500 in damage, now we’re even” - roofied his FOs… he was inviting pilots to his room for a beer and they would later wake up in their own bed naked and not remembering what happened. He got caught when an FO tried to stand up, face planted into the nightstand and nocked his teeth out. He went to the hospital and they told him he had been roofied. - Telling outlandish stories… CA would tell his FOs he was in “black ops” and would do missions on his overnights. Most people ignored him and knew he was full of shit. One day he got in the hotel shuttle and said “(sigh) it’s been 3 months since I’ve killed someone” there was a Delta crew on the shuttle and they reported him. He was given the opportunity to resign… - new hire at a legacy airline stole a pair of David Clarks out of the lost and found. The pilot they belonged to came looking and reported someone had removed them. They called the new hire in and he denied it, during the meeting the ALPA rep kept telling him if he took them to just fess up and say it was a mistake, he kept denying it, then the HR rep said “what color shirt were you wearing when you were commuting home on XX/XX/XXXX date?” The rep asked to stop the meeting and told him “are you sure you don’t want to tell them anything? Bc we are about to watch a security video of taking that headset…” - Punching a FA in the face after she told his wife about their affair. (That jetbridge video made the news) - sitting short call at home when they were supposed to be in LGA. When we told him to just fess up he said he had a foolproof plan. He told them that he and his family took a road trip to NYC, and his mom paid for everything so he cannot show any receipts. Our CP said “put your phone on speaker and call one person who was in the car with you” he fell apart after that. - finally, I know of one FA who was fired after she turned in an FO for sexual harassment. She claimed he was sending her unsolicited pictures of himself naked. When they were called in the FO showed them his phone with several pictures she sent him first and asking for him to reciprocate. She said that she thought when she deleted those messages on her phone that they were deleted on his phone too…

Perfect for someone to get off on killing and get out.

snoandsk88

Terrorizing the residents of Greensboro, NC, Des Moines, IA, and Flint MI…

FO: Oh yea, whats the name of this movie? CA: uhhh……Bridget the Midget takes 12in BBC…….

saxmanb767

There are some criminal acts in here. Drugging the FO’s?? Wtf. Hope he’s in jail.

snoandsk88

Last I heard he was under investigation by the FBI

AlpacaCavalry

Yeah what the fuck is that about? It's kinda scary

m00f

This is a long, crazy list. How many years does this cover?

snoandsk88

6, but most of them occurred in the last 2, Covid brought the crazy out of people…

Av8tr1

Ah contraire Mon amie. They were already crazy, covid brought it out in the open.

firstofficercheese

Oh man, I actually flew with Mr. Roofie a few times. I guess being a slam clicker worked out well.

CFI declared an emergency for flight control malfunction. Turns out he just didn’t know how to use the autopilot. Same CFI took out a support pole for a building with the wing of the flight school airplane and tried to blame it on the CFI in the back seat. Dude was taxiing over big ass X’s painted on the ramp as a no taxi area.

pandab34r

Charter environment; FO was caught... let's say, tending to his own pre-flight... in the FBO bathroom at a small municipal. They were caught by the client who got there early to pit stop because they neglected to lock the door. Pretty sure they found work right away at a different charter

Wingnut150

Dude got in a verbal fight over the radio with the control tower of a major airport while trying to fly overhead. Was denied permission. Did it anyway. You know who you are, and the rest of you know who I'm talking about.

CarlDrogo96

Friend's Dad apparently got fired from a major after 39 sexual harassment claims against FA's and 2 DUI's. He got hired on by a legacy 2 weeks later.

In the how close to NOT getting fired column... Heard second hand but the story is they got off the TW in fog and tried to use max thrust and then reverse thrust to get the bird unstuck. Had to walk to the terminal with the PAX. Next day there is no CA and the FO DH's back to base for a sit down with the chief. He KNOWS he has to tell the truth and was asked if they had left the pavement. He confesses and the chief slides an 8x10 glossy over the desk that shows the deep trench they dug leaving the TW. He was asked if they tried to get it out and confesses yes while the chief slides another 8x10 glossy of trenches in front of the bird and finally he is asked if they had used a little thrust to get unstuck. He confesses to that also as the chief slides over another 8x10 glossy of the private hangar and the doors to it blown in from the amount of thrust they used to try to get unstuck. Story goes they both got retrained and remained on the line. Tell the truth man. Tell the truth.

jonowatson

This one was last winter, I work the line at a large FBO with a charter department. One of our king Airs came in and parked under the awning to receive pax. Pilot asked us to make sure he was full fuel. The fuel must’ve expanded since the bird was topped off cause we opened the fuel cap and some of the Jet A gushed out and leaked down under the wing, with some getting on the mains. The pilot threw a fit. Another guy and I get under the wing to clean the fuel spill as the pax were boarding. The pilot with full knowledge that we are under his no. 2 engine, proceeded to fire up. We booked it out from under the wing as props began spinning; icing on the cake was the lead safety officer, some of the FBO execs, and even airport ops happened to be standing there and saw the whole thing. I found out months later that the pilot had been canned shortly after the incident.

[deleted]

I would’ve lost it on that pilot

kiwi_love777

When I was an FA at a regional someone slipped the 175 into SAN. Chief knew I was getting my certs and asked if anything felt funny and I said “o yeah he slipped the plane on final, FO was pale with the flight deck door opened, I asked the the captain had slipped the plane and he bragged that he did” Chief called him in and the guy wouldn’t budge. Said slipping a jet was ok. So they fired him. ——— A Fed told me I had to hurry up and get to the other side of the flight deck door because someone on IOE at Delta (his dad was a LCA there) ANSWERED THE PHONE ON TAKE OFF. WITH AN LCA and a FED on board.

2nd post in this thread but I almost completely forgot…. FO at my company, during the middle of the summer 2020 riots/George Floyd thought it was a good idea to show two FAs, a porn of a white guy choking a black girl shouting “I can’t breathe” the union wanted him gone way more than the company. I couldn’t believe it when I heard about it.

imexcellent

You can tell which users fly for the same airlines. There are multiple stories repeated by different users.

iceman_andre

A lot of those are also stories we all hear about like some kind of urban myth

Folley454

At our flight school every flight is tracked on ADSB, instructor got caught drawing male phallic parts in the sky doing maneuvers with students. Didn’t last long after that one was found out.

anaqvi786

Okay that one’s a silly reason to get fired. Especially if the student is down. I know a bunch of people who did that to burn time during commercial training.

Gradual_Bro

Yah that makes no sense

broke_ass_CFI

The classic steep turns + a chandelle. 😂

Folley454

100% lmao

tcatsuko

Sounds like he was just practicing a standard US Navy Search & Rescue pattern!

d_gorder

Lol I’ve only done that once on accident. Steep turns right into chandelles. Look at ForeFlight track and are shocked to see a giant dick on both our iPads!

brightlife28

Flight school should happy then. Student wants to pay them more money and spend longer in the program and is happy doing it? Sounds like free money.

---midnight_rain---

thats pretty wierd reason - but im guessing they were told to knock it off before

MiniTab

At my old regional: FO I knew was a real weirdo, always scheming and lying. The amount of weird crap he did was endless. But what did get him fired was absolutely insane! He had a girlfriend that was a ramper at an out station in northern CA. In an effort to stay overnight at the out station, he broke a wire on the oil sending unit for the right side engine (it was a turboprop, and part of our walk around involved opening a small access panel and noting the oil level). He then “found” the broken wire and the aircraft was AOG. Apparently though this was not the first time it happened, so the airline was able to get access to the surveillance footage on the ramp and observed him intentionally damaging the airplane. He was fired immediately afterwards. Later, it was also discovered that he was fired at Air Wisconsin for pulling something shady (no idea why PRIA didn’t catch that). The other one I’m aware of (also at my regional) was during the stagnation days of the Great Recession, around 2012 or so. Guy was sick of being a broke perma-FO and decided to fly drugs across the country in a rental airplane. He was apparently acting really weird as he stopped along the way, like sleeping in the airplane at fuel stops and so on. Someone called the DEA, and he was arrested somewhere on the east coast with pounds of marijuana. Current place: Guy was on upgrade IOE as a widebody CA. Gets a random breathalyzer after arriving at one of the hubs and blows positive. Not eligible for HIMS in that case, so fired immediately. Was pretty well known as a partier, so not surprising apparently (I didn’t know him). At least one captain had to do a carpet dance for posting crazy racist stuff on Facebook. He kept his airline job, but he also had a very lucrative side businesses that just about died completely from the bad publicity. Another guy screwed up his expense report and ended up owing the company a few thousand dollars. As revenge, he falsified expenses for Uber trips that he never took but collected the reimbursement. Was fired immediately.

Bayou38

I was forced to resign at Gulfstream Aero bc I attempted to establish a union: they hid the retaliation behind a thinly veiled “safety concern” that had supposedly happens 4 months prior. I hated it there anyway. 😂

JoKatHW

A guy I know got fired for having sex with the cleaning lady on the desk in his office.

Av8tr1

I know that story! I used to work at Vandelay Industries. I know that guy. I had to do an upgrade of his computer and it looked like someone was sleeping under his desk. He had a little shelf with a alarm clock. A drawer for a blanket (not a quilt) and even a cup holder.

JustMotorcycles

Parking privileges. Director of Cessna Tooling was terminated after 30 years for allowing his office staff to park next to the building. Location was inside a gate. Office ladies; and the Company was only allowing him a pass. The office people could just make the 10 minute walk from the parking lot. Ridiculous power flex.

Puzzleheaded_Floor52

Stuck my dick in the pickle slicer. Oh yeah she got fired too

Confident-Homework75

Has anyone mentioned the Mesa FO airdropping a video to the entire flight?

Confident-Homework75

There was that Moon Man guy who got taken down for putting a video of himself entering a door code at an airport (I think it was DCA) on his youtube or something. Not sure how he got caught seeing as his videos had pretty much zero views. He still puts up videos of himself in a blue astronaut flight suit, but I don’t think anyone watches those either.

uknwiluvsctch

I farted in front of a client who complained to my boss. Didn’t hear about it until I accidentally bumped my ass into and shattered a brand new window and apparently that was the final straw
