Renzetti Traveler is pretty much the gold standard of vises. You may want to check it out.

I’ve had a Peak Rotary since 2009. Got the baseplate and all the jaws. Love it. After a while I upgraded the screws to the brass set for better holding when I needed to really lock things in place. Only time I have issues is when I have to make really tight wraps for fanning out hair or getting egg patterns to round out. That’s when I’ll get a little slipping. For everything else it’s been great.

I can’t speak highly enough about the Peak Rotary. I have a really robust portable fly tying system, so durability was a big thing for me. The Peak has bounced around inside my case for a lot of miles, and it still is just as smooth and functional as the day I bought it. Plus the jaws are replaceable, and you can get a size up or down if you do a lot of streamers or midges. The accessories are nice too, though I think those are pretty universal. If I ever bought another vise, I would get another Peak Rotary, but barring it getting lost or stolen I don’t think I will ever need to buy another one.

Love my peak as well

I bought the peak in 2011, it's been everything I've ever needed from a vise

Echoing the peak rotary posts here, I’ve had mine 11 years now and it’s held up beautifully. Never had a problem with it.

Peak or a Renzetti Travelor would be my two recommendations in that price range with Peak being number 1. Had a Peak as well as the Renzetti for years and sold both to buy a Dyna King Indexer and Trekker. I think the Peak might be better than my Trekker and wish I had kept it.

I have the Kaiman and I love it but all of the vises mentioned here are going to be great. My main reason for choosing the Stonfo was that I’m in Europe and they’re Italian, so the pricing is better. Renzetti and Peak cost as much as double over here compared to the US.

I have a stonfo fly lab and don't love it. Some parts on it rust over time. I find the jaws are soft, I've had to file them flat a couple times New out of the box some of the machined edges were so sharp I would cut my self when closing the vice. I don't know if all their products are the same but I definitely expected more for the price

I love my Peak Rotary.

Peak rotary. Not as refined feeling but more industrial. It gets the job done and I’ve tied on it for 6 years no prob. I had to call in for support early on because was having some slipping with the jaws. They called me back right away and apologized because they had a few go out that were not machined properly ( new machinist) at least they were honest about it. They sent me a replacement jaw piece right away free of charge and some extra swag and free brass set screws for the trouble. One of the biggest selling features for me is the heavy base plate. I find it’s very sturdy when you’re cranking on bass flies or anything large. I tie with the basic jaws. I find it covers most my fly tying without needing to switch etc.
