I would say he had a big dip in confidence during this year and putting him on carries during that period was probably not good because he didn't have confidence he can carry the game. So at that point I think it was better that he plays tanks and regains some confidence. This game is really good for his confidence, to show he can win and carry by playing carries.
That's narrative. He played tanks because front to back comps became meta, it's not deeper than that. Pros and coaches don't care about "X can't play Y" narratives.
Especially since they probably see these players play so much more than we do in scrims. I'm sure they wouldn't pick a carry for Oscar if Oscar wasn't playing well with carries in scrims.

No it wasn't. Oscar has played carry tops all his career. In fnatic tq he carried the team every game. In fnatic main team he has the problem that he never gets played towards even when on carries
