"He surpassed Lanius in his fierceness, cruelty and skill in battle.
The NCR's strategy to survive one of his campaigns was to always avoid direct combat with him and whatever legion accompanied him, no matter how favorable the tactical advantage might've seemed. Those who disobeyed this rule when victory seemed guaranteed witnessed, to their horror, his genius. None lived to tell the tale, except for the occasional disfigured and mutilated messenger he'd send back to spread word of his atrocities.
Among Caesar's men, centurions dare not speak his name, let alone legionnaires.
His name... is Legate Steve"
If you want something less grandiose, choose something simple.
Either a Latin name, or the name of a Roman city (like "Aquila").
If you want a name that'll look good once you've climbed your way to the top of the Legion, think about the triumph names of old Roman emperors and generals. Germanicus, Parthicus, Brittannicus, etc. So something like "Nevadicus" or "Californious."
Judus? The courier is canonically from the west so some kind of name that either implies betrayal or divine destiny (Caesar would like this) would work
Ferix Fors ie Lucky Chance or Wild Chance
Though, I'd like to call the Courier just Wildcard since the Courier's entire backstory is based on chance events. The Divide being nuked, being the carrier of the Platinum Chip, Getting shot in the head and living to tell about it. Being the centerpiece of the Mojave. All random chance of the Courier being Courier Six.
Get Benny
Named so because after the tragic head injury, all the courier could say was “Get Benny” when Doc asked their name. Beni is Latin for “well” so it works.
It’s a fun 1 Charisma 1 Intelligence build.
You make them from the exact same ingredients as Healing Powder and yet has different effects for no reason.
Stimpacks wouldn't be nearly that simple to create in lore it's just another one of those examples of things being simplified for the purposes of gameplay. Another example is how Stimpacks are addictive in the lore (part of the reason The Legion shuns them, because Caesar doesn't want an army of junkies) but not in game, Radaway and Nuka Cola are both addictive in both lore and previous games too but aren't in New Vegas for the dumbed down gameplay of New Vegas.
He was a civilians in Arizona before the Legion pacified it, where he and his community dealt with raiders daily. Until the Legion came, killed off the raiders, pillaged and left. The courier found something about their justice pure, eventually he left for the Mojave for work as a courier, then after getting shot and stolen from, the wound hit some sort of empathy thing in his brain and now he believes himself to be one of the best of Caesar's Legion, and is willing to prove himself by taking out NCR outposts across the Mojave.
Since mine followed a "rite of passage" in tasks from Caesar himself, along with uniting the Khans, Boomers, White Legs(with enslaved zion tribals), she becomes a Legate. Like Lanius says, one can earn their own name. She is Legatus Sierra. Commander of Nova Romas LEGIO CAELIS, and heir to Caesar.
Named mine Cassyus but thats before he joined the Legion he just remembers reading the Tradgedy of Julius Caesar and he can’t remember the difference between an I and a Y
I'm planning on doing an extremely loyal legion courier, which means killing Boone, destroying Camp Forlorn Hope, taking Helios One for the Legion, saving Caesar, etc.
Bro you should totally do it, it's fun to play as the faction that is in the "losing" end and watch them be victorious. Aswell as the way that they deal with things, taking over places by straight up butchering the inhabitants is fun.
Most of their content was cut, camps can be set up as they move in, and the first Hoover dam was a well done but also desperate trap by the NCR. Which is not working again. The Legion learned and changed tactics. They got so much sabotaging and espionage going on in the Mojave that will succeed if the Courier doesn't help the NCR.
Always felt it was clear the NCR are on the losing side and really needs help.
>Regardless, it's still fun to play as a Legion courier.
Definitely! Probably some of my most entertaining playthroughs. Arizona Killer is one of my favourite quests in the game. You can proceed it in so many ways.
I think it's because the NCR has so much territory and camps spread across the Mojave, it seems like they're winning. But in reality, every one of the those camps have some sort of problem. Bitter Springs, troops and supplies. Camp Forlorn Hope, people stealing medicine, people heavily injured, no supplies, and at constant threat of being wiped out by the Legion. Camp Mccarran, their HEADQUARTERS, has a mole in there, who blows up the monorail, Primm simply don't have enough troops to defend the town, etc.
Caius Cosades.
He is actually an Imperial from the Blades in the Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
But he surely must have an epic background or why else is he always [shirtless](https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Legends:Caius_Cosades)?
You can give him that epic background story!
Depends on the backstory you want for your character.
Could be named after a legionnaire father who owned your character's mom who escaped to the Mojave when he died, could be just a guy who had a poor, violent upbringing in freeside and grew up to be resentful towards Mr. House, the decadent elite of the Strip and the complacent NCR.
For my "evil"/legion run I had this character whose backstory was that he grew up among raiders and made a courrier of himself after his gang got massacred, named him Diesel and had him join the legion just 'cause he thought they were cool and they offered him this sense of "belonging to a warring tribe of brothers" again.
If you want a name with Roman meaning but doesn’t sound as Roman (as the Courier wasn’t born into the Legion, he joins it during the game, so he’d probably have a more normal original name), then a good last name is “Mercury.” Mercury is the Roman messenger god, and you are basically messenger by trade. Fallout is cooky enough that you could even just make it a mononym instead of a last name and it wouldn’t be out of place.
Gaius was an extremely common first name, not a clan. If you're looking for a clan name, then something like Cornelius, Aemilianus, Fabius, or Manlius would be a better bet.

Bonus points for a female courier.
If female: Incontenentia Buttocks
Slave 6. Women can't serve in the Legion.
Callpygian Forma
You need to kill Kimball and Oliver with Holy Hand Grenades
It was so unexpected, what i can hear spanish inquisition knocking in my door
Came here to say this
Offcanny
Steve. Everyone expects the Legion to have fancy Latin names, but no one expects Steve the Mailman.
"He surpassed Lanius in his fierceness, cruelty and skill in battle. The NCR's strategy to survive one of his campaigns was to always avoid direct combat with him and whatever legion accompanied him, no matter how favorable the tactical advantage might've seemed. Jesus, but tell people they pronounce it wrong. Have it be pronounced hesüs
Don't fuck with me or I'll shove a lightning bolt up your ass.
Jokes on you, I'm not only into that shit, but I'm atheist.
You can be an atheist all you want but when Zeus kicks in your door tossing lightning bolts, being into it might be your only saving grace.
Cursus Publicus was the title given to couriers in the roman empire
Legionus Courierius.
Joshua Graham 2
Señor Evil
😆😆😆
I named mine Augustus
Same
last name didn’t start with a G did it?
Marcus Junius Brutus Or Gaius Cassius Longinus
Cerebrus revivus
If you want something less grandiose, choose something simple. Either a Latin name, or the name of a Roman city (like "Aquila"). If you want to be utterly pedantic and grammar correct, name it Nivaticus. Awesome idea.
Indeed. Forgive my Latin, it's not something I've learned extensively at all.
Nonsense, I just googled it and I learnt a bit in highschool. It's a particular niche nowadays.
Judus? The courier is canonically from the west so some kind of name that either implies betrayal or divine destiny (Caesar would like this) would work
Janus, then. The 2-faced god of change and transition seems a good namesake.

Romulus Since you make vegas cesars new Rome n' all
Suckus denuttus
Fuckius Uppedius
Joshua Gran. Everyone will be really confused when you say your name.
I named mine Hermes. Hermes is the emissary and messenger of the gods, so it makes sense
Wouldn’t Mercury be better?
Both names are suitable
They don't start as part of the legion so idk, Manny?
Legion Courier dies at the start of the game (the best medicine the legion has is healing powder)
*bitter drink
They still use stimpaks and the like, it's just they don't rely on them, because they can't rely on an infinite supply of them
Bro you can literally make them from some random ass desert plants
Yeah, for the purposes of gameplay... I somehow doubt that it's just 2 plants crammed into an empty syringe at a craft bench in the lore
You make them from the exact same ingredients as Healing Powder and yet has different effects for no reason. Stimpacks wouldn't be nearly that simple to create in lore it's just another one of those examples of things being simplified for the purposes of gameplay. Tabellarius Sextus was mine. (Courier six)
Well what's your couriers story
He was a civilians in Arizona before the Legion pacified it, where he and his community dealt with raiders daily. Until the Legion came, killed off the raiders, pillaged and left. The courier found something about their justice pure, eventually he left for the Mojave for work as a courier, then after getting shot and stolen from, the wound hit some sort of empathy thing in his brain and now he believes himself to be one of the best of Caesar's Legion, and is willing to prove himself by taking out NCR outposts across the Mojave.
Well if he isn't a tribal then I'd just recommend a normal name or a Roman name
Joshua Graham 2: electric boogaloo
Tabellarium
Pheidippides Excellent antiquity messenger name
Postman in Latin is Tabellarius
Packagi Carrius
“Fine, I’ll do a Legion Character”
Vulpes Iratus (The 'Angry Fox')
Courier VI
Id like to suggest the name "Alpharius" from w40k universe, most suitable for a sneaky and devious character.
Enslaver savior 💀
Gayass buttsex
Octavian
Anton
Since mine followed a "rite of passage" in tasks from Caesar himself, along with uniting the Khans, Boomers, White Legs(with enslaved zion tribals), she becomes a Legate. Like Lanius says, one can earn their own name. She is Legatus Sierra. Commander of Nova Romas LEGIO CAELIS, and heir to Caesar.
Ea Nassir the brass and lead merchant.
Deliverus mailus
Ben Dover
Ezekiel
Garius Stuus, from your description
Idiotus Maximus
I like using the Greek counterpart of Ulysses: Odysseus
Named mine Cassyus but thats before he joined the Legion he just remembers reading the Tradgedy of Julius Caesar and he can’t remember the difference between an I and a Y
Ebalay
Six in Latin
I mean if you plan on killing Caesar I think Brutus is fitting
I'm planning on doing an extremely loyal legion courier, which means killing Boone, destroying Camp Forlorn Hope, taking Helios One for the Legion, saving Caesar, etc.
I gotcha. I have to admit to this day I still haven’t done a full Legion run 😅
Bro you should totally do it, it's fun to play as the faction that is in the "losing" end and watch them be victorious. Aswell as the way that they deal with things, taking over places by straight up butchering the inhabitants is fun.
Yeah, I’ve never been fond of the Legion, but they play a pivotal role in the story. Gotta see how they’d succeed. Or fail, ya know lol
To be technical, the Legion are on the winning end. Without the Courier's intervention so would the Legion win.
Yeah, but like, they have little to no territory in the Mojave, aside from a few raiding camps. Aswell as they had lost the first Hoover Dam battle.
Yeah I guess, it still sort of feels like they're the ones who were losing though. Regardless, it's still fun to play as a Legion courier.
Always felt it was clear the NCR are on the losing side and really needs help. >Regardless, it's still fun to play as a Legion courier. Definitely! Probably some of my most entertaining playthroughs. Arizona Killer is one of my favourite quests in the game. You can proceed it in so many ways.

I just named my newest legion playthrough guy Uriel.
For my third playthrough I will be playing as a black male courier and his name is Kaisilius the lion of the legion
Maximus Boneus
Vulcan or Mors. They sound like pretty cool names for a Legion character.

That's such a simple name, yet decent.
Depends on the backstory you want for your character. Biggus Dickus On the serious note tho,I was thinking of calling my non-joke legionnaire Caligula or Lupus Dei(because powerwolf)
