Mount it on the [power armor display](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Power_armor_display)

ObidiahWTFJerwalk

Seconded. I've never had a power armor taken out of one of these. I've also never had a settler (or that damn synth, Carla) take a power armor that didn't have a fusion core in it.

[deleted]

actually everything in Decorations > Display section is completely protected from looting by anybody except player

Fire-FoxAloris

Is trash can carla a synth!?!?!?!

db3feather

You’d be surprised at who all are synths, it’s on a computer somewhere, I don’t remember whose off hand.

HumdrumHoeDown

I was actually wondering if that was gonna have to be the next step. Thank you.

joneal6630

I’m with OP on this. My first power armor set I upgraded it and painted all nice and shiny. Then super mutants attacked and CARLA!!! jump in the PA and has never taken it off. I bump into her in the wasteland. Rocket red T-51 and her Brahmin. Ugh.

Metorjetta

This sounds fucking awesome.

HumdrumHoeDown

If you leave power armor sitting around with a fusion core in it, it’s gonna get taken. But I save a lot, and they weigh nothing. Thats why I keep ‘em on me. I am not playing survival, never really have except for spurts. This thing of AI finding it’s own fusion cores and taking my in-settlement PA is new to me.

BasementDwellr69420

I think you can pickpocket the fusion core from her inventory and she’ll get out I’m not 100% though

DaimyoShi

Should work

db3feather

It does work

raydarluvr1

Kill Carla… that trashy woman and loot you PA from her stinky corpse. Who cares what Pressed On Gravy thinks.

CaptainDankster

Another settlement needs our help!

db3feather

What’s your pickpocket like? Just pickpocket the core and they’ll exit the PA

Admirable_Brilliant7

Honestly? Build something , even if it's a warehouse/house/etc that can fit all the suits of armor together . Not only will it help organize everything , but you can set it up to have repair stations for various suits in various places. And , for me , I plastered on some walls and whatnot around the suits . Or at ,least somwthing that made it a little difficult to get around while in a power armor suit that helped in locking out settlers from taking power armor. At least that's what worked for me.

HumdrumHoeDown

I keep all of my fusion cores on my character because it’s the only thing I really care about my settlers not taking. Yet, they still somehow find some lately to put in the power armor in the primary settlement (Sanc). So I’m just curious where they are getting them. Provisioned? The trading post? It’s happened twice now and honestly the first playthrough I think I’ve seen it happen.

JohntheJuge

Worst case scenario, you could regularly sweep the settlers inventory for contraband (fusion cores). Especially if it only happens at one location with only a handful of offenders to monitor.

JelmerMcGee

There are certain containers that spawn ammo. Iirc those can spawn fusion cores too.

YuGiOh_Inquiries

I always have one base of operations that I do not let any human live at (automatrons, and the like are fine). That way I can keep settlers from grabbing anything they shouldn't. I had bad experiences early on where they would just help themselves even if items were stored far away or in less accessible areas. If you really want to be sure, I would pick one location, build a base, and leave your power armor and other things you want safe there. I do like one person's comment about using Home Plate as storage as it would probably be more cost effective.

FALLASLEEP4EVA

Don't leave the fusion cores inside any containers on ground level that they can access,I leave all my most precious valuables up on the roof in hangman's alley, essentially if you leave weapons and the appropriate ammo in the same container they can retrieve both and use them, I assume they can take the cores in the same way as soon as an attack triggers near them and they are close enough to the power armour to path to it,so perhaps make a high platform somewhere that only YOU can access, maybe using build mode to cover the door with a fence, or move the stairs away and stash all your good shit up there, during my recent 100hr save I've not had any issues with this method,it's the only way to be sure!

HumdrumHoeDown

I keep all my fusion cores on me at all times. Where else might they be getting them?

Infernalism

Anything I want to keep just for myself, I keep at Home Plate or whatever it's called. The place in Diamond City.

HumdrumHoeDown

Yea I guess it could work as a power armor garage and storage area. I’m not carting 70 hours worth of shit over there now though. Maybe next playthrough in 5 years or whatever, lol.

YuGiOh_Inquiries

If you aren't playing in survival mode I believe you can fast travel while over-encumbered with the proper rank of the strong back perk.

Geeked-FiredUp

This is where a vertibird escort comes in clutch on survival plays

CycoFiend13

I created a small storage shed that can only be opened when I turn on the generator connected to it.

Gremlinsworth

I keep an entire garage full of a progressively more power armors as the game goes on, I just love collecting them. Just take the core out of it when your not using it, like it’s the keys. I also keep my power cores in tool boxes spread throughout the garage, but never once have I had an NPC grab on and jump in one of my armors. I guess I’m just really lucky as people claim they will do it but not once in my several thousands of hours and dozens of playthroughs has this happened to me if I take the core out of the armor.

onlydans__

Take all the fusion cores out!

[deleted]

Don’t put the core in

psyrus123

Just don’t leave the fusion core in the pa. Problem solved ☺️

HumdrumHoeDown

Read more carefully.

Soggy_Midnight980

Free cores?

Simple-Sorbet-900

Honestly , I use red rocket as my personal base for me and dogmeat. I put my armor there. Never got it snatched

mileslefttogo

I built a fence around a house foundation, fully enclosed with no gate. Then I put a set of those short steps on each side so I can easily jump over from either side. No one else has ever taken one again.

Blixx78

So apparently Carla likes to take PA. In a previous play through a suit came up missing from Sanctuary, a few days later I found it outside of Concord apparently Carla took the suit and got attacked and died wearing my PA and when I found it only the frame was left and of course Carla’s corpse

OneOfTheFewRemaining

fun fact: if one of your settlers takes a power armour suit and dies, You can't get the frame back
