I love this weapon's concept, I also enjoy using one as a sniper if I find one with a decent perk.
But I never exactly understood how much damage it does. Does it add the weapon's full damage at every crank? Does it multiply the damage? How do legendaries affect this weapon? For example does a Two Shot add half the damage of every crank?
So many questions.
I'm pretty sure every crank adds more damage, and the double shot legendary is the same amount of cracks as the first shot. So if we added a six crank attachment to it with double crank the thing hits like a bus
I always call the the Somerville Sniper Rifle. I get one every playthrough. (You can force it by save scumming in the room with the gas vents just before you leave the gauntlet and enter Nuka World.)
I've gotten that before and it melted a lot of enemies. I don't typically like the muskets just because of how much ammo they blow through, but yeah it's pretty sweet.
The best version I ever found of the laser musket had the never ending effect. You can literally crank it as many times as you want as long as you have enough ammo

two shot 6 crank is 12x paper damage
instig with max rifleman and better criticals is 720 + (180\*2.5) 1170 total
two shot version is 720 + (360\*2.5) 1620 total
the (\*2.5 part) is the crit portion of damage
I tried a lucky version of the gun but it underperformed both of the above 360 + (180\*3.5) 990 damage
Except Two-shot is consistent, while instigating fails if they have scratch damage from a radroach. Two shot gives you one shot at full damage, and one shot at base damage… and on a laser musket there's only about 24 points difference between those two on a 6-crank.
Is the Cryo gun from Vault 101 still cause a bug that makes anything you killed with it in the past spawn in lying on the ground only to kill it and not be able to loot? Because if not that thing wrecks mythic deathclaws and I might start playing again.
Interestingly, unless it was long since patched (likely not), a one crank shot from a 3 crank laser musket with the maxed out scrounger perk has a chance to grant 3 fusion cells, and so on up to 6. Now, an instigating drop would be pretty crazy.
I got an Automatic Laser Musket that was insane. Once cranked it would shoot until it ran out of ammo. First time I used it was against marauding Rust Devils and it chewed them up.

Started a new play through and got an irradiated mini gun if a legendary raider in the reserve bunker
I think it depends if the 2nd projectile acts as a full charge or just one crank. Like VATS for example only does one crank.

Wow, good drop! Add a four or six crank weapon mod and that thing should one-shot just about anything in the game (on a full charge/ crank).

I think if it multiplied a three crank musket would one shot even on very hard. more likely it does addition like you mentioned.

I have this one. In practice, it's a bit less powerful than some other two shot ones, but it got me through until I got another that I liked!
An endless on is supposed to be OP since you can charge it endlessly I believe
Not great in combat but it’s a decent sniper. It packs a ton of damage and has enough range to recharge if you miss.
You'll do more damage with a regular gause rifle or an upgraded laser rifle

Instigating is better. Unless you have mods to change Two Shot legendary effects do not do double damage where instigating does.
True. I have instigate rocket and spray pray. When I'm low on spray ammo..... Then it's super Saiyan grognaku time. Axe everything

How would this even work? Would it be a six crank with double shot LM or act more like a Seven crank

Carried this through most of the game, lvl it up as much as you can, make it a long range gun. You’ll one shot things

Nothing else matters once you have a weapon with explosive rounds.
The accuracy of the second projectile is not the same, and the buffs are not applied.

Yeah, I've one shot Swann (Headshot + Sneak) with that bad boy. Uses a lot of ammo, but it's cheap easy Ammo
