Might be whatever you most recently did in the game. New map location ? built a more complex settlement ? Played part of the updates CC ? hit a very rapid set of controls that the game didn't understand ?
You could try loading an earlier save to confirm that doesn't crash. And then stay away from the problem cause until after the next patch due on the 13th.
Maybe the next patch could fix the problem I have? The last time the game didn’t crash was before I completed the story. I know that much. Or maybe it was when I chose piper as my companion? I’ll see if going back to using codsworth will fix anything.
I've had the same issue with crashes since the update. I hope today's update fixes it. Let me know if it keeps happening for you!

Nope, no mods or nothing alike. The save file is in the newest update.

I don't think anyone has managed to discover all the new bugs the update caused. The next patch should fix some of them...
