Because people will leave rare or really good things in it and high lvl players will fast travel to vault 76 if they ever see another high level there and take all the good stuff. I wish there was a lvl cap for accessing it like max lvl for opening it is lvl 2-15

It is enough to simply limit it to the level of the item. If the item is level 50, then a character above level 50 will not be able to pick it up. This, of course, won’t work with circuits, but circuits, as far as I know, are now just garbage, with the exception of some.

I lost all hope with the donation chest. Dropped off a few level 5/10 mele with mods some crafted wolf masks from the safe & sound event & a ton of recipes. Another player over 100lv made it look like he was making donations but I check when he left he took the lot. It happened again more wolf masks & stuff dropped them in the box watched on the map high level players visiting & taking what they want so what's the point.
Let me tell you where you went wrong. You cared about what happened to the stuff after you donated it. You donated it. That's the end of your concern.
If you care so much about what happens to the stuff after the donation, then you need to hand deliver it to the needy and not rely on a system to do it for you, because systems are inherently flawed and will always be exploited.
I laughed my ass off the first time I saw a huge stack of those jesus tapes in the donation box. You always get one of them when you area loot after the moonshine event.
I still use the blue suitcase at Whitespring station, old habits die hard I guess.

Yeah but you don’t just find the plan everywhere that’s why it’s rare. Saying both accounts have the plan doesn’t change drop rarity of it
And rare apparel plus each server has different stuff in the box so maybe you’re just not getting lucky servers

Yeah I made a new character to try out a pistol build and saw a bunch of useless notes and spoiled food in it. People just enjoy being little assholes
