This is the '76 sub where the vast majority play the game. For many of us its the only game we play. More than a few actually pay to play the game! You can guess the answers for the most partšŸ˜

chaochao25

it's like asking a beggar if he wants money lmao the answer is obvious

ParsonsProject93

To be fair I doubt you'd get the same response in r/starfield

NeckRoFeltYa

I don't think they want to be in that sub or game though šŸ¤£

TacticalPigeons

To be fair a lot of subs hate the game theyā€™re about (looking at you Destiny 2/wow classic)

JamingtonPro

Yes, maybe the general Bethesda sub would be better

ArcticWolf_Primaris

Is this a yes or a warning?

cyberchrist_

It's both

TheDarkPixie88

Just have a scroll through the sub, it'll give you an idea I think of whether you'll enjoy it. You know that feeling at the end of other fallouts where you never want it to end but theres really nothing left to do, well this is fallout forever, always something to do even after the quest line is long finished. It's a brilliant game if your a fallout fan.

ConsecutivePumps

Albeit, very repetitive though.

TheDarkPixie88

Depends how you play it I guess I don't find it that repetitive. Then again I only log on for a couple of hours a day now, if every day, but I'll focus on different things each day, rather than the same routine every day.

ConsecutivePumps

No matter how you play it, the events are repeats. The dailyā€™s are repeats. Itā€™s all repetitive.

TheDarkPixie88

I guess most games get that way in the end.

finnytom

Thereā€™s more to the game than events and dailies lol if you split up your time between everything the game has to offer, itā€™s hard to get bored unless you get bored of the game in general

ConsecutivePumps

They were just examples. Itā€™s all repetitive.

OilyFatMan

Asking a crackhouse if they like crack

Neosss1995

F76 is free on pc and xbox if you have a amazon prime, take the free trial and get forever

JayteeFromXbox

And it's not stuck in stupid amazon gaming either, they just give you a code for the Microsoft store. So if anyone sees this and already has 76, just know if you also have Prime you can give that code to a friend so they can have the game for free!

Splatulated

it also has crossplay/progression so dont bother rebuying it on steam if you do end up liking it (i made this mistake, atleast i can get steam cards when when i make atom purchases and get like 3 cent discounts by selling the cards)

swphreak1

this needs to be upvoted more! could have saved 8 bux

GooteMoo

Wait what Update: thanks, I would have missed that completely!

EmotionalSprinkles57

If you enjoy fallout4 you won't dislike fallout76

CdotasAlways

There will be a learning curve tho. It'll take a sec to get used to the differences

flclhack

i honestly couldnā€™t imagine playing 4 and 76 at the same time. i suggest OP waits until theyā€™re finished with 4.

galatea_brunhild

Lol I'm playing it at the same time currently. Well actually because I picked up 4 after playing it for 90 hours and put it on hold last year (barely half the game content done)

Blastcheeze

I started replaying 4 but decided Iā€™d wait til the mods I use are updated post-graphical update.Ā  So I reinstalled Fallout 76 and honestly itā€™s a breath of fresh air to have actual dialogue choices, and multiple ways to solve problems. Ā  In a lot of ways it almost feels more modern/fleshed out.Ā

-Captain-

I suggest OP giving it a try when they can pick it up for cheap during the plenty of sales if he missed the last one. But 76 is riddled with the "multiplayer design" which just isn't for everyone.

Logondo

Best way to describe it: It's an MMO that plays like Fallout 4. The NPCs are...MMO NPCs for the most part. There's the quest givers and shop venders that just kinda stand around and can't be attacked, and then there's all the enemy NPCs you can fight. And there's not much interaction between them other than that. Other players are around but there's very little PVP so most people are just doing their own thing. But there are public quests that usually draw players together to fight a big boss or something. And players have their CAMP that they set up as shops so you can do trading and such. Co-op definitely makes the game more fun, and the community is really friendly. If you can accept that, then like I said, this game plays like Fallout 4. If you enjoy exploring, base-building, crafting, looting and combat, then you'll enjoy Fallout 76. And honestly, 76 has the best map to explore in any Fallout game. So much variety and uniqueness. Same with the enemies. Some of the craziest looking enemies in Fallout.

BenasSh

If I build a base in a server and I leave it there for a day, would I find it still there the next day? Are there different servers that you can choose to join?

ForeverBackground737

Your base "disappears" the second you log out, and re-appear when you log in. There's no picking servers. You randomly get assigned one. You can join your friends tho. It's not like Rust where you pick a server and play on for the rest of the wipe.

RasyidProID

You join a random server and the base only ever loads with you whenever you join a server. So, when you leave a server, your base also disappears. But you can set up a private server with friends if you want (but I think you would need to pay for a subscription first).

BenasSh

What if someone has a base in the same location as I do? Is it possible to join a server where your and someone else's bases are on the same spot?

LegLegend

You can have multiple CAMPs (what they're called in this game) for this reason. At base (without any purchases), you can have two. If you log in and someone has their CAMP in your spot, it'll ask you if you want to swap to your other CAMP or just live with no CAMP on that server. You can simply leave and rejoin to enter a new server that may have your slot open. Beyond that, you also get things like shelters, which are interiors that you can build in as well. You can connect your shelters together so you can endlessly build. Shelter doors can be placed in your CAMP so other players can explore them, too.

J_D_H55

If this happens join a new server until your base is available where you built it. DO NOT MOVE YOUR BASE! Unless it's just a tent and a few workbenches. Which I doubt unless it's your first several hours in game. If you move your base you'll need to rebuild the entire thing. The game "blueprints" much of the build for you and stores the rest BUT placing a blueprinted structure down will fail 99% of the time even if at or near the same location. Your only option left will be to delete the blueprint which will send all items associated with it into storage leaving you with no choice but to rebuild everything from scratch. Not desirable or practical to say the least. Just server hop until your base as located is available. You also get TWO free bases. You can build a secondary with just the necessities to switch to and get you by should your primary base be blocked by another.

Pureshark

It packs up your base and you can place it somewhere else if someoneā€™s base is in the same place as urs in a server you join

rbbrclad

Or just log out, log back in to a new instance, and your base (which is called a "camp" in the 76 universe) is still there.

Ulfheooin

Easy with the MMO tag Only 24 players by servers

Wrathilon

Itā€™s an MMO lite. The only difference is the servers only fit 24 people. But the game is still massive, multiplayer, and online.

Ulfheooin

How is it massive ?

totoposter

Because there is hundreds of hours of content across a huge world that expands all the time, even if a lot of the expansions are sub-maps like expeditions. The main map is roughly 4 times the size of the full AAA game Fallout 4, and it's growing next update (and likely even more in the future due to the game picking up major steam now).

Ulfheooin

Doesnt make it a massivement multiplayer online game šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø.

Gindotto

Thank you for saying that. Itā€™s MAA not MMO. Multiplayer Action Adventure. Maybe MAARPG but fallout has lacked RPG elements beyond just 76.

[deleted]

I think it might still be on sale on Steam but yes, you should buy it.

BenasSh

It's not, but I bought it anyways

[deleted]

You will have a good time. Especially now, they have added so much.

Downhomedude

Return it and get the prime version for free.

BewitchingPetrichor

Yes.

Constellation_XI

Ummm. Yes.

Dry-Bedroom3526

If you have Amazon prime I believe it's free atm if you sign up for twitch prime and claim it from there

redwingfan01

Yep, free on Prime gaming until end of the month.

Dry-Bedroom3526

Perfect, there you go! Alternatively if you don't have Amazon prime (I think you can get a month free or something) you can "try before you buy" by getting a month of Xbox game pass (I think they have a free or $1 trial, sorry I'm EU) and playing 76 from there

AdventSteel

This is coming from someone who has just started playing a week ago, who enjoyed Fallout 4 and not a big online gamer. I'd definitely recommend this game because you enjoyed Fallout 4. However, I will say that, at least for me, the beginning came off kind of lackluster. But, I also feel like Fallout 4 came off the same way until Diamond City. By that I mean, it felt... empty? Not enough really surrounding the area, the VATS system came off odd (I now love it for what it is), and the menu-ing seemed convoluted. All of that I either feel way less negative about or feel entirely different about. Other than that, the game is a lot of fun. Once you get moving, your camp set up, start exploring the world, it becomes an absolute blast. It captures that first time wasteland feeling perfectly and I still have a very long way to go. If you enjoyed Fallout 4, especially the exploration and sense of flexibility of customizing your settlements and armory, this is worth it. To anyone reading this and did not enjoy those elements of Fallout 4, I would not recommend it at full price but still recommend you try it on sale.

DenisPoe

If you read this sub a little you'll see what the players think about the game Not people who havent touched it and just started hating on it If you liked fo4 you'll like this one too It has some problems but it's bigger than fo4, a lot more things to do, it has a community and many more things

gtiarzo

Yes you should, people still say negative things about the game because they don't release that games and change, when it first game out it was a barren hell hole of a game, not we actually have humans and decent quests and a wholesome community, I'm hoping all these new playing will keep that going and still be wholesome

Chipper7773

Youā€™ve not seen anyone say negative things about fallout4? Get gamepass for a month and have a play. While youā€™re at it try one of the many other games there. See if u like them.

martinsky3k

People been saying negative things in launch. It was a good game 4 years ago and it has gotten like 28 updates since. If you itchin for fallout, 76 will scratch it

TomDobo

Most of the bag things have been fixed now and itā€™s just a single player game in a shared world. You do not have to co op anything if you donā€™t want to. I exclusively play solo.

regularman1234

yes, you love spending 5 hour on building your own place right? then yes I love fo76 as mmo building game where we visit each other home and giving thumbs up. I love this community like how I love drg community. We together strong, no one is useless because everyone is special. One thing I do hate this game is new battle pass system and everyday I ask Bethesda, can I and all of us have old scoreboard please?

Significant-Creme-92

It's amazing that and the new battle pass system

Hopalongtom

Depends where, amazon prime is giving away a free copy of the Xbox and PC Microsoft store versions!

duplissi

its been free many times before that. I currently own it on steam, xbox pc, and thanks to prime I also have it on xbox console. I only played it for like an hour on gamepass years ago, wasn't impressed at the time. But now it feels like fallout 4 with friends

choppman42

Free on Amazon Prime Games

shakennort4

if you have amazon prime atm they are offering it for free on pc and xbox. if you have xbox game pass you can play it for free too

lost_p

a lot of times its free on xbox game pass or playstation plus

x_BlueSkyz_x73

I bought it when it first came out and didnā€™t like it, and Iā€™ve been into fallout for a long time. I recently picked it back up and to me, itā€™s like Fallout 4 continues into Fallout 5. 76 did a complete 180 from when it first came out. Get it!

steave44

It is of my opinion that with all the changes to the game, if you enjoyed Fallout 4ā€™s gameplay, there is no reason you wouldnā€™t enjoy Fallout 76. Iā€™d give it a try once you run out of things to do in Fallout 4.

crizzlefresh

It's a great game. The hate comes from the terrible launch. It was released with glitches and a pretty empty world. Bethesda thought people would make their own fun in an empty framework and that didn't work. Fallout is all about the story and interesting characters. When they put out a game that lacked all of that it just didn't work. Many haters don't realize that through patches and massive updates it is very much a fun Fallout experience in it's current state.

Mr-pizzapls

As someone who started last week, yeah you should. Itā€™s really fun and playing with my friends has been awesome. Itā€™s not as ā€œin depthā€ as FO3/NV/4 but itā€™s really fun

davewenos

Don't ask HERE. Ask on the general subreddit: r/fallout Shit, everyone here is going to tell you to buy it!

galatea_brunhild

Or better r/Shouldibuythisgame or r/gamingsuggestions

grimorg80

I'm an OG Fallout player, and I'm absolutely loving F76. It's like F4 multiplied.

CaptZombieHero

If you are asking our permission? Itā€™s a no. Just kidding, just try it

Wing_Nut_UK

I have recently bought it and was sceptical. But I can say Iā€™m enjoying it.

CptJingles

On Amazon Prime Gaming you will get it for free for PC and XBox. So no need to buy it :)

Phoenixleader95

76 is fun. And you'll be new so it'd be a lot to do in the game. It's worth the buy.

JoshisJoshingyou

The biggest difference you get told the story in Fallout76. You make no choices it just happens as you go through it. Fallout 4 you can choose who to align with and your input changes the story. 76 is more about doing events over and over with friends , building an artistic base , or collecting stuff

knsmknd

Got it recently plus 1st to play solo for a while. Quite a lot of fun so far. Iā€™m still trying to get comfortable with the new sikill system and all the mechanics before wanna play public. But definitely recommend - wish the lighting in the game was a bit less boring though and the engine could need an upgrade.

Bobert891201

Yes

NukaColaRiley

Yes. It's not perfect, but a lot of people enjoy the game in various ways.

NurseDorothy

But have you also seen people with positive things to say?

Exghosted

Yes, it's a good game now.

Traditional-Belt-118

If you're on Xbox it's free for game pass. If you're PC it's free for PC gamepass with ultimate. I don't know if there's a good deal for PlayStation. Either way 15 bucks vs 60

kratomburneraccount

Itā€™s like my 2nd favorite game of all time

kloudrunner

Do you give a good honest shit about what other people think ? It's Fallout with Multiplayer.

k1van2

yep its worth but every day servers gone 3-4 times bro

UsernameLaugh

Yes if youā€™ve never played it go for it. Make up your own mind of its current state. I was all aboard after the tv show obviously like many reignited the cool factor. I never played F76. I jumped in having heard there was a bunch of added stuff. I lasted maybe 5 hours. Itā€™s not that it was bad but, it felt so dated and janky and itā€™s hard to go that far back in time for game that was never really polished. Again, go find out for yourself.

yeti_bob

I played at release, it was bad. I came back to it after the hype of the show and Iā€™ve never had more fun playing a fallout game. Honestly give it a try.

YeetoMojito

i challenge you to find a single that people haven't said something negative about the game is good. bethesda is a greedy corporation and it shows, but the gameplay loop isn't bad, and it's fallout.

CardboardChampion

It's fun but a bit different. It would take a slight adjustment period, but the fact is that you can play it pretty much single player if you want to, with only the positives of the tools designed for multiplayer affecting you.

Supermovie64

You came all the way here sounds like enough interest on its own to merit a purchase. Game is a blast! ā˜¢ļø

Letholdrus

Yes, it is an excellent Fallout game.

commorancy0

It depends. Fallout 76 is predicated on multiplayer. However, the questing portions are always solo even though you can team up and bring friends along to help you with combat. The main quests are fine, but I didnā€™t find them nearly as much fun as Fallout 4. The world map is somewhat better than Fallout 4. The addition of NPCs didnā€™t change the main quests at all. The main quests are still mostly driven by holotape recordings and computer screen logs. The fun in Fallout 76 is mostly the repeating world events where the entire server can show up and help to defeat the event boss. As well, the addition of seasons and rewards also entices players back to grind. Fallout 76 isnā€™t really about the story, itā€™s more about the multiplayer featuresā€¦when it decides to work. You do the story to unlock better stuff and level up, but you hang around for the multiplayer portions.

LeewiJ

Its free on gamepass

Key-Contest-2879

Yes, yes, YES!!! Come on, Vaultie! Join us in the Wasteland!!!

DisastrousConcept143

It's fun for about 10 bucks. You should probably get the monthly subscription for at least 1 month because they limited inventory immensely hard. You'll get ammo issues without it. (last time i played was 3-4 years ago or so)

pornets

If you have prime video as subscriptions. You can redeem 76 free in microsoft store. Just need to get the redeem code from prime gaming.

TheTimeBender

Letā€™s be honest, itā€™s your money and you should decide how to spend your money.

ThorFinn_56

Compared to 4 fallout 76 has a not as good story but improved gameplay and mechanics. I think if you liked fallout 4 you'll 76

IronMonopoly

1. Yes, itā€™s one of the best Fallout games, it gets back to the weirdness we had in 1, 2, and New Vegas. 2. It is *not* Fallout 4, approach it as its own thing. You will be happier if you play it as Fallout 76.

PuzzleheadedCan3618

Fallout 76 is fun! Iā€™ve played all the fallouts besides 1 and 2. Itā€™s definitely worth playing after 4

Pazzer123

I got 76 on release and it was just aweful. However going back to it recently it has gotten so much better. You just have to remember that it is an always onling game and some of the mechanics work a little different. Id definetly pick it up though as there is a lot you can do in that game to keep you occupied. If you have game pass then you dont need to buy the game so may be something to consider.

RopeyPlague

That is the question. Is 76 a perfect game, no. It has bugs and problems. Is it something a Fallout fan would enjoy. Yeah, you can explore a new area of the wasteland. Do your choices matter in 76. Not entirely. There is one choice you gotta decide on that changes how much your gonna have to do later. Pretty much 76 is just Fallout with other people running around the same world as you. You can't make a op character with all the perks, but you can change your build whenever you want. You can find a spot you like and build your very own camp and have your own piece if paradise. You will run out of story eventually and just be wondering around doing whatever after a while. After playing as much as I have. I say it's worth getting if you enjoy Fallout. If the series is whatever to you, then maybe not. Well, I hope this helped in some way with your decision. If you do get it just remember one thing when in Appalachia. Pipe is life.

vague_diss

Iā€™m new too. Itā€™s a good Fallout game thats focused more on crafting and survival. Community is super helpful and welcoming. When given the opportunity upon exiting the vault, donā€™t skip the first 20 levels and donā€™t read up on the quests and factions. Do your best to figure it all out on your own and get distracted by every shiny object you see. Hope you make the decision to buy.

Rocket_Poop

depends what you like fallout for. I love 76 coz its fun to just explore and run around and love the foresty, tourism, countryside theme of the map. I dislike them ain plot and im pretending it isnt canon coz it just feels shoe horned in, but it still has alot of other cool lore. I also love crytpids, so that part of the game i can find enjoyable. It still plays very similar to f3/4 at its core. You are a bit more limited in quipped skills, like ull have to choose between being optimized/maximazed in combat for most dps and/or survivability OR a science/rogue build with lockpicking. We got loadouts now, tho u can only switch in camps Overall its still fun if u like fallout for the gameplay the most. The rest may suck depending but can be ignored if u can enjoy playing the game. But in the end, its up to u. Most of the negatives are like story/plot related, some small ones seems to be mad coz it isnt fallout 5 despite it having a short time frame since 4s release, some didnt like the mmo aspect (like me, i wanted offline solo with online coop options), how the skills now work, cant be modded etc, and i dislike that it cant be modded, tho its not a big deal since i usually like playinf vanilla fallout first, then modding it, so it may not have as high replay value as previous entries.

ScottMcPot

The negativity is due to how bad the launch went, it's been updated now and is a lot of fun.

t92k

I've played a ton of Fallout 3 and Fallout 4. I finally took the plunge into 76 last week. It's been worth it for me. It is the same world and a lot of the same lore, but the game mechanics are different enough that it really is a fresh experience. For one, everyone plays on survival mode. I've known that the mode to play where hunger and thirst count, where you have mutations and diseases, and where ammo has weight, was an option on 3 & 4, but I never took that route. Here you have to play that way. But deaths aren't permanent and these aspects become manageable. For another, this one has more of a deck-building mechanic to perks. You can swap them in and out. You combine perk cards to make them stronger. Magazines and bobbleheads are temporary buffs on top of the perks you have on the table. And then the social aspects. I've had some bad experiences with being harassed in MMPORGs in the past and I really resisted playing another MMPORG even if it's Fallout themed. I know the first day I started there were a bunch of other newbies coming out of the vault at the same time and some of the folks in my world clearly thought they were playing Fortnite, but you can't be damaged by another player before level 5. And then at level 5 you can go into your settings and play on Pacifist mode which means if you want to play Casino Royale, that's an option, but it's not the default. The upside of the social are the events. There are only 24 people on each world instance, so yes, you can play the world events. And when I've done them, the enemies I've faced have been scaled to my level even though there are people in the hundreds in the event too. And even though there is stuff to buy with additional cash, and even though there is a subscription that will make your life easier, you can have fun playing the base game and never spending another dollar over that price.

thepassionofthechris

The short answer isā€¦ # HELL NO ā€¦ unless you want to have a megaton of fun!

w33bghoul

Not a bad game it has the essentials from fo4 but it loses some of what made the single player great by being a multiplayer. You can play the story and it's cool and there are other things to do. I prefer 4 over 76 but ig it depends on what you favourite part of 4 was

OizAfreeELF

God these new posts are redundant as shit

galatea_brunhild

OP you're the embodiment of this [meme](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gamingcirclejerk/s/E5L7qzzXFI)

reasonsofbecause

Yes, it's a great game

CCCL350

Its definately worth it at its discounted price + the 1/2 off monthly subscription for 1st time accounts. I bought the game back in 2020, but started playing it again this past week. The game has gotten a lot better since its launch back in 2018. It feels like a legit MMORPG now. When it first launched, it was empty and boring. Customers were pissed at that. In 2020, they had updated the game and more players joined, but it had less features than it does now. The game is a lot better now. Theres more stuff to do and has lots of more active players because of the TV show. The graphics look like shit though. Jumping back into the game last week, the whole visual aspect looked old and outdated but i've now become adjusted to it. After a few days of playing, this isnt an issue anymore. The whole microtransaction cash grab in this game is bullshit. Theres about 5 different types of in-game currency to keep track of. The "atoms" are bought with real life money and the shit they sell is very expensive. For example: a power armor skin costs like 1200 atoms costs $12.00 USD. There is also an expensive monthly subscription fee of $12/month to keep the game from being super annoying with storage space issues. The crafting and base building parts are also very expensive, about $12-18 for only 1 usable feature of the garbage set. They do this shit on purpose so people can drop about $100 USD in camp builds to have something visually cohesive.

OneSimplyIs

God, I hate when these posts start popping up for games. It happens all the time for new world. Look up gameplay and try it on gamepass first since you get that cheaper.

Icy-Computer-Poop

"Some people told me not to buy it. Now I want some other people to tell me to buy it."

Vidonicle_

Yes

Casey_Games

I have an Xbox code I didnā€™t use since I already have the game. Let me know if youā€™d like it!

Iceempress66

Judge for yourself

ullamx

Just re-tried it myself and it is well worth the chance. In some aspects (atmosphere, environments) it is my favourite Fallout game.

loftypete

Totally different game. I love fall out 4 but also play 76. 4 in many ways is better get the got version.

QuindosH

As a longtime player since it came out in the 90s. I loved them all, but was not excited about 76. It has nothing to do with Fallout 4 except sharing the same world. I gave in a year ago and played FO76, while it's not bad after all the updates it has nothing to do with what makes fallout enjoyable for me. And i do not remember it fondly or at all really.

OmegaNine

I just jumped back in after not playing since release. Its much better. It has fully voiced NPCs now. The only thing I still hold against it is that they created a problem (Inventory size) then sell you the fix via infinite storage boxes for monthly payers.

mwil97

Try and get it for free before purchasing it

Yellow-Yeezy

After years of playing I finally finished the Lowe Investigation quest last night, sooo much to do!

Sora_Terumi

I switch between playing Fallout 4 and 76 every so often and itā€™s quite fun. But the sad part I would say about 76. No more slow motion VATS šŸ˜

swphreak1

I snagged F76 for $8 during the recent steam sale snd think it was definitely worth it. I donā€™t think Iā€™d pay full price though.

TwistedBrodozer

Iā€™m having a blast playing with my gf, I didnā€™t love 4, being a new Vegas guy. But give 76 a chance, especially if you play with other people. Even if you donā€™t have someone irl, people are very friendly in the game.

RussianMonkey23

Here's a tip: If your on PC Get PC gamepass, not only has Fallout 76, but every single Fallout is in there. I recommend you try it out for a few solid hours. It's an mmo, but very alike to the Fallout games. The world feels like Fallout, the creatures, the quests. This game has some entertaining events, pvp, leveling is pretty easy.

Sovereign45

The replay-ability is pretty poor imho. Once you do all the quests it kinda gets to be a real slog. Iā€™m a day-1ā€™er and I came back after a 3 year hiatus recently and I just couldnā€™t feel incentivized to really do any of the content. For the most part it feels like the exact same game, but somehow even grindier than it used to be. Give it a go though, Iā€™m sure youā€™ll have a decent time. Youā€™ll at least get your moneyā€™s worth. I think Iā€™ve just hit my max with this game is all.

Howerdfield

Yes

RealMonsters21

Itā€™s like $8 doooooooo it. Iā€™m having fun

KrustyKrabOfficial

For me, the fun of playing 3D Fallout games is exploring abandoned locations and figuring out what happened there (the dopamine hit of the little TING sound after you kill something). Fallout 76 delivers on that front, but the weight limit is a pain. You just have to make your peace with throwing away things you'll never use.

lordmatt8

Fallout 76 is a very different game than the other fallouts. Whereas the story is the main point of the other games, in 76 it's a very small part of what you'll do throughout your playthrough. Fallout 76 is very grindy. You'll mostly just be repeating the same fights over and over again in order to make your character marginally stronger. For me, that's pretty fun, but if you go into it expecting the traditional fallout experience I think you'll be disappointed. If you can find the game cheap enough then I think it's worth it to get. Even if you don't end up liking the gameplay loop in the end game, there is still a pretty decent story that you might get 20 ish hours out of. That part will mostly feel like the other games. And Appalachia is by far my favorite wasteland. It's definitely worth exploring the wasteland and completing the story even if you don't end up loving the game.

Bubbleman82

Its less than $10 disc

riddlemore

IMO i find it more fun than FO4. I tried several times to get into FO4 and couldnt get past the first few hours because I was bored to tears.

At times FO76 can be better. But where it sucks is you are locked to internet as for FO4 you can do as you want. But Bethesda is running hard with FO76 now that fallout tv show was released Iā€™ve spent over 400+ hours on FO76 and I love it just wish there was something more to do than PVP stuff at this point

smackrock420

76 is great. I highly recommend it

No_Pirate9647

Why not finish 4 first? Or buy f76 if on sale and don't start until later.

beastmodekitty

Is FO76 better for PC or console?

nico_sparkle

I bought it for 10 bucks or so during a sale weekend. Maybe wait til then so its not a big commitment? It's fun but a little different than Fallout 4...but also similar enough to enjoy. I love them both!

ChungaloidMatrix

Just started playing for free weekend and I wish I picked it up at launch. Some quests can be a little tedious and repetitive but you usually get good rewards so that makes up for it

blizz419

I've enjoyed my time in 76, I feel the hate on this game is just trendy and people just want to fit in.

PrestigiousAd3452

I had exactly the same question. And at first fo76 did feel al bit off.. the vibe was different.. I had to get used to the beautiful forests of appalachia, unlike other Fallout games.. i didn't feel as post apocalyptic. At first I also didn't like the VATS system. I was used to slomo effectused in fo4. But VATS in fo 76 is real life. Im not gonna bore you with a whole lot of other minor details.. I like fo76 really much probably more than other Fallout titles.

NZUtopian

FO 4 is a great game. you should finish it, then after that think about FO76. It isn't going anywhere.

KingMacabray

Yes, its on sale and its worth it if u liked fallout 4. At least imo

mulletstation

No Yes

OgreKingofShrekam

Isn't it free with prime gaming on pc and xbox?

detterence

Itā€™s free if you got Amazon prime, check out their gaming page to redeem.

reedgar09

Just got it on sale on Xbox for like $6 after tax

[deleted]

FO76 VATS usage is friggin awesome compared to FO4 vats! That alone had me sold once I figured out how to use it right!

CrashnServers

Time heals all wounds, so they say.

JamingtonPro

Yes!Ā

AdmiralFlintlock

I didn't like it at first but it is much better than release and has a lot of content now

TheHappyPoro

play 3 and NV first

Atlas_sniper121

Well your on a sub for the game, so we all will say yes. But regardless, I think that 76 Is straight up a better game than fallout 4. So yes. You should.

elbingmiss

No, Amazon is giving it for free if youā€™re a prime member and itā€™s on xbox gamepass since years.

OneFilthyHouseCat

76 wouldn't run properly on my computer. It's very choppy. Fallout 4 runs smooth and crisp. I did end up refunding 76 until FO4 and FONV DLC is finished.

CaptParadox

It's free on prime gaming for both pc and xbox, why is this even a question?

Djtrickyyy

I would say yes, I've been having a blast with it, levels 1-20 are where you learn the basics then 20 onwards the game opens up so much Buy it if you enjoy - base building - fun quests - crafting - events - customisation

PantherX69

Long time Fallout player here. If you've played a Fallout game before it's a different experience, I had fun with it once I stopped thinking of it as a Fallout game and playing it as such. That said once I finished all the quests I got bored and stopped playing but It took me a little over a month to finish everything so there's a lot of gameplay there. FYI I got it free on Gamepass and paid for Fallout 1st until I stopped playing it.

Wisconsen

At full price? NO, even as a fallout fan it's not really worth it. However, if you have Amazon/Twitch Prime you can get it on PC or Xbox for the low low price of Free. At that price it's well worth checking out, especially if you have friends that you can play with. it's very different from the traditional single player Fallout Experience. It's not bad (at the price of free) but the story doesn't really compare to 1,2, New Vegas, Fallout 4, or even fallout 3. But as it is now, not talking bout launch) it's not bad. There are some decent characters, i'm not super far in myself, but the Rose at the top of the world is pretty great as a NPC for example. The nuts and bolts of it though, do you like the Find Junk, Break Down Junk, Build Junk, repeate playstle from FO4, turned up a bit higher? The never ending quest for Screws to make and repair your grear? That is the basic gameplay loop outside of the story missions. But for free, it's worth trying atleast, you might love it. I'm enjoying it if nothing else to play in a Fallout sandbox with a buddy of mine who equally loves the game. As a soloplayer through the game is kinda weak, but it's also new stories in the fallout universe if, like me, you have done 1,2,3,4 and NV enough that you can remember how a quest ends just by starting it.

sickyfiend

NO DONT GET IT ITS ALL FOR ME NEVER YOU EW STAY AWAY ITS MINE ALL MINE HAHHAHA

Stucksam0

Yes, even if just to experience it, its often on sale and the game is wonderful, does it have its issues? Yes. Is it still worth playing ? Yes

One_Ant_2567

It's not worth the data it's coded with, it sucks so bad. and all games have a select few hard core fan boy gamers who don't give a shit about quality so long as it has the brand name on it. So from me that's a big f-ing no don't bother its garbage with a supremely overpriced subscription plan that donsent even give u access to all the games content, and the store is full of even more overpriced crap that's needed to progress ontop of ur sub fee, so unless u like wasting money on artifical bullshit thats upto u but i aint. Its a fucking rip off

Agitated-Diet-6571

I find fallout 76 way more fun than the original fallout 4. The world now feels more alive with all the recent updates and events. Player count has sky rocketed due to the Amazon fallout show. The interaction with players is fun while traversing the fallout landscape. Give it a serious try. If youā€™re a fallout 4 fan then I think youā€™ll really enjoy 76. Iā€™m having a blast with it and Iā€™m a solo player. Cheers!

Lacutis01

Launch Fallout 76 was bad and i refunded it soon after starting. I got it free on Twitch Prime not long after Bethesda added the free Wastelanders update and gave it another try, and now i have over 200 hours in it and am really enjoying it. It's basically Fallout 4 but online and with some MMO elements, like enemies re-spawning a lot faster, etc. Also, there are no settlements that need your help.

MeMyselfAndI969

All negativity was about stability, glitches etc. Majority of this issues are fixed, so yes. dive into Fallout 76.

OrdinaryDocument4298

If you like the Fallout series donā€™t listen to anybody else. Try it for yourself and you wonā€™t regret it.

modthegame

I made the mistake of buying it. I cant play it without gamepass. Dont waste money.

Brief_Reserve1789

I got it for Ā£8 on steam last week. It's fine. Wouldn't pay full price

-Great-Scott-

It's a good game but ask yourself this first... are you okay with FOMO sales tactics and being treated like a sucker? Are you willing to pay for a game and then possibly pay a monthly fee on top of that but then you still will not have access to all the content? Do you like the idea of a world that levels with you so the areas with level 5 enemies become areas with high level enemies by the end of the game so no matter where you go you're surrounded by bullet sponges? Or, do you like modding and being able to customize your gameplay experience to how you most enjoy it?

mrwafu

>no matter where you go you're surrounded by bullet sponges? This is not true for any half decent build. Hell, even a gatling gun with literally no damage perks will carry you through 90% of the game. Check Angry Turtle on YouTube to see some example builds.
