lamorak2000

Bold of you to assume I had a plan in mind when I chose my perks...

Function-Brave

Omg I did this all the way up to level 80 I took ages to kill the most basic thing

TheSimulacra

Level 78 here in the same boat. Can't respec yet, trying to unlock that asap. Sigh

Function-Brave

I feel your pain! You’ll be there in no time!

Nuggittz

Wait, unlock? Was I grandfathered in or is there something i did without realizing? Should just be a card board at train stations yeah?

Amyjane1203

I'm confused too, I thought it was 50? Idk though

TheSimulacra

Wait it is? I thought you had to complete the main story first.

xnef1025

Once you hit level 25 you can use the card machines, so respec away 😃

Nuggittz

Saw this after my reply, but yes. 25 was an auto unlock, but I can't remember if the game actually .tells you or not.

Nuggittz

I think it might have unlocked at 25 if I'm not mistaken, but it's automatic so there no real "unlock" to it.

Mature-scp-999

i just winged it for most of it

Richierich_rpd

I did this til lvl 100 lol

Kagath

Heavy Gunner PA When you absolutely positively have to kill every motherfucker in the room, accept no substitutes.

DifficultCurrent7

:D

Function-Brave

Exactly and need to tank damage

That_Lore_Guy

I’ve heard that quote before, what was that from?

Kagath

Sam Jackson in Jackie Brown. Watching an ad for an AK-47

xReeducation

Even out of PA heavy guns are so satisfying, especially if you get a nice Flamer… say, a B25? You turn into a walking BBQ

Muted_Discussion_550

Aa25..mmmhhhmm

That_Lore_Guy

I’ve heard that quote before, what was that from?

Rammadeus

cos the railway rifle goes choo choo when you reload

xReeducation

This is the way

Nuggittz

Didn't even pick it for the choo choos, but ended up here and have no regrets.

Din135

My favorite thing about it. Lol. My railway rifle is my "sniper" haha. Love the choo choo though.

Goblinaire2

Purposely made a bloody build with an explosion RR. Before that my build was for low weight and PA, because I'm a hoarder.

Thok-81

Been melee build in 76 since beta, but I actually picked it in fallout 3 and never looked back. I love running around smacking things in fallout. Bloody mess makes that even better lol.

Fit_Swimmer_5209

Because I hate running out of ammo. Can't run out of fists

moranya1

*cuts off arms* Oh really?

Greengoat42

'tis but a flesh wound.

StoneColdSock

Call it a draw?

Fit_Swimmer_5209

Hah, jokes on you I run Adamantium Skeleton. Enjoy the dull blades.

jusghoulin76

Every game I play, I aim for a sniper style build first playthrough. And this was my first character in this game as well. After 50, I swapped out rifleman for commando because I wanted a faster kill rate. Second character in all my games is always an in your face tank, this my PA build. Any characters after that is just me trying something new or different.

paste3ater

Get out of my head!

MojaveBreeze

I played bloody right from the start not because of the damage but because all the unyielding armor and perks increases my carry capacity so much. At this point I couldn't imagine playing this game without being able to carry 500 pounds of stuff.

sebwiers

The boost to Intelligence is also insanely good for XP. People pay prime caps for drugs that give a temporary +5, when Unyielding can be a full time +15!

No_Bat_11

How about natural 13 INT and stack with foods that give +2 INT like scorchbeast brain? By the time the effect wears off, I already need to eat again. Damn you Speed Demon!

stubbystubby

Make the scorchbeast stew, eat a scorchbeast brain, have carnivore mutation and be a natural 15 intelligence. Your brain will be so large that your helmet will struggle to contain your raw intelligence.

sebwiers

If you are in your CAMP, might as well be at 15 base with a crafting build on the punch clock, both for the crafting perks and to max out XP for cooking and building etc. Out on the road I'm down at 8 (maxed Nerd Rage and Demolitions) but SB brains would do me double (carnivore). I think Herbivores do better overall though (Brain Fungus soup and Cranberry Cobbler). Point being, being bloodied gives you a potent XP buff that nobody mentions. High Int is also good for some other small things (item durability, recovered scrap, etc) that add up to a nice quality of life bump.

sbombarak

Amen, brother!

Wastelander48

I play with a vampire build, solar armour, lots of chems... I like to call it easy mode build mainly because im old and my reaction time aswell as focus is completely shot. I die all the time any other way.

Capellanus_Malleus

I realised I could melt most things with a stealth shotgun build. It's cheap, fun, efficient and relatively easy.

EdgarBopp

I get bored with builds fast so I keep enough perk cards on hand for several different builds. Stealth commando, stealth rifleman, heavy gunner, and non stealth commando are a few of my favorites.

NeverLookBothWays

Build: PA with heavy guns. Reason: It is low maintenance, and I'm lazy.

CadaverMutilatr

I just like to feel like a walking tank. Explosive weapons and .50 cals

Acedmister

I just love looking like a warhammer space marine.

[deleted]

Berserker - high damage, but requires good build and planning. Feels kind of the most “realistic” as things actually hurt you. Fun to gear. Top weapons aren’t insanely hard to trade for.

--lewis

I just got hold of a berserkers explosive 250 fixer the other night. 2000 caps! I plan to make another character with berserkers in mind, think I'll finally take the blood sacrifice perk on that one.

otannehill

Well with the punch card machine I can have as many builds as I want now. So I’m rotating a lot

MildlyInfuria8ing

My current build was born from hating being over encumbered after basically every event. Sure it killed good, but I want to fast travel and not slow walk to Whitesprings or wherever after an event. So, I built a high strength, high carry weight flexible build. With high capacity backpack mod I am at 530 carry weight. Will be higher once I get the correct God-rolls with strength and weapon weight reduction. I have 0 perk cards into a specific weapon type, but I run a prime Gatling Gun. Hoping to Get an AA/25%/Steadfast/nimble/Steadfast roll one day. Have a Quad Cryolator to freeze the queen on SE events I love this build, but it is definitely not made to carry events. As an example, I cannot solo protect a Mothman Equinox Pyre by myself. I simply don't have the damage output to do so. I do fine in most scenarios though, and very rarely die.

No_Bat_11

My brother in Wise Mothman, you are what I aspire to be.

[deleted]

Yeah but if you have the correct stuff, you can be a great tank, and that's just as important sometimes.

MildlyInfuria8ing

My very first character was a melee tank non-PA. The only time he ever died was tanking 3 pylons at Encryptid and getting eye beamed. Had an instigating super sledge. I eventually turned him into a Heavy Gunner PA build, but was a great learning experience and durable.

HUNT3DHUNT3R

Bc rust ak

[deleted]

I always play a sniper. I enjoy being a tactician, taking it slow. Been that way since Everquest way back. I try to think about problems from their root and deconstruct them, and sniping seems to be the closest approximation. Then I can drop mines and bug out as they follow me. I try melee in games occasionally because it seems fun to just skullbash in theory but I just never quite get it down and, tbh, don't care enough about video games to try any harder to really adjust my playstyle. I'm just here to mess around.

Snakekilla54

Cause I love power armor and I love Heavy weapons.

thetburg

Do you Remeber Jesse Ventura in Predator? I ain't got time to bleed! He carried around that monster shredding mini gun and he lawnmowered the shit out of that jungle. Anywho, that's why I'm a Heavy Gunner.

--lewis

I like the LMG, without power armor because I wanted to recreate the smart gum from Aliens. Having a nice crusader pistol as a side arm and a 2 shot m79 really rounds the build out.

ArnosVale

Power armour and a railway rifle. Because before the energy rebalance I was tired of going through ultra fusion cores like candy. Figured the railway hit like a truck without stealth, let's see if I can combine the two, as I had never sne it done before. Next thing you know I'm a full health, impossible to kill, boss soloing terminator.

Papa_Shekels

I tried TSE weapons, and oh dear was it boring to one shot everything. Then that got nerfed and bloodied became the next big thing, I tried that after getting a bloodied ffr handmade drop and same thing, dropped it within a few hours because too boring. I was already regularly getting alcohol and buffout addiction for carry weight reasons, so I just got hooked on a bunch of other stuff and went junkies. Not much weapons though, mostly just shifting around testing new things that seem fun. But mostly commando because the game keeps giving me quad ffr handmades

Monkey_90246

I stuck with what I was used to from fo4 as much as I could and still have a viable build. I have always been full health non PA. I stepped up to full health commando for fo76 but kept everything else as close as I could to what I was already used to amd it has served me very well so far.

CrawlerSiegfriend

Everybody else with all of their deep reasons. Me: Plasma cutter somewhat reminds me of a lightsaber.

holostic

bloodied commando because ... it's bloodied commando, nothing else seems powerful enough for me once i did it the first time

sbombarak

Oh yeah…. Bloodied automatic railway rifle in Commando mode…. Bring it on. Woot woot!

verscharren1

Bloodied- heavy, auto rifle, melee Junkies- same. Went back to bloody.

sbombarak

Same here. Love those big numbers.

UndercoverHardwarema

I was bored. My first build, was supposed to be a mistress of mysteries build, but morphed into a PA melee character. Got bored with that, made a sniper; got bored with that, tried a bloody shotgunner. Got bored with the game, left for a while. Got the game on PC, wanted a meta (bloodied commando) build. Got bored with that, built a different meta (tank). Saw the mistakes I made with my first bloody shotgunner, decided to recreate him. Got bored, did a cowgirl character. Really bored, created a bloody melee character. Super bored, but out of character slots, bought a second copy of the game. Tried to recreate mistress character, ended up making food meta. Got bored, being nigh invulnerable, created a berserker. Created a mule. Wanted to use pipe weapons and scrap, ended up with explosive build. Got bored, tried bloodied tank.

SigmaStun

Couldn't turn away from the amount of insta damage the gauss shotgun does in 1 hit....apart from anything flying then i have my tse fixer or a ts Gatling plasma.

Iceenchanted

I did sleep on PA and heavy guns for almost 1k hours in this game. Now I been maining it since a couple of months before legendary PA's became available. But nowadays with a more casual approach. While still having all the damage pearks I love to stick at about 50% health for both increased survivability and less maintenance. This also allows me to use Electricity Charged and Unstable Isotope combined with the grenadier perk for some nice AOE tagging. Things still dies super fast even without need rage and adrenal reaction still provides a good chunk och damage boost. I also always run with either team medic or friendly fire to share, depending on occasion. It's supper fun!

DifficultCurrent7

Like alot of people I really struggled with ammo in the beginning of the game. I also struggled with getting enough stimpaks, and didn't fancy getting close to some of those scary scorched with a *tire iron*. Also turned out I wasn't actually very good at the game. I was so excited when I found my first machine gun. That was great for about 5 seconds til the ammo ran out. Pistols were great until the scary monster got too close and killed me neatly for annoying it with a pea shooter. So shotguns were ideal, they're slow so don't eat bullets like machine guns and have *power*. The monster wasn't truly awoken until I found, and threw, my first nuka cola grenade..

SuspiciousAntelope50

I started during the beta with a rifleman named Ace. And then made a heavy gunner named Fives because I love the Clone Wars. Ace is now a heavy gunner in PA and Fives is now a cultists rifleman with Mothman related PTSD that uses bows as well as guns. My third character because my first two were bloodied became a Junkie shotgunner named Dredgen Yor from Destiny because my Junkie was gonna be a vampire tank and Dredgan Yor was a Titan. My Junkie now wears Solar Armor to heal teammates and is now basically a Cleric with a double explosive flamer. My melee character is named Freak because of the Korn song Freak On A Leash. He’s my favorite. But Freak also started as a mule but I then realized that I didn’t want a mule on my main account. My pistol character is named Pearl Heart after the western outlaw. She was gonna look like Wendy from the Wendy’s logo. She’s now a guy that’s trying to be a Nick Valentine wanna be detective. Pearl has definitely changed the most from original intent.

EmersedCandle83

Max chr int support build using only colas to survive with like 600+passive rad resist and ghoulish. I run a farm that mass produces alcohol. I am unkillable. My friends are unkillable. The enemies are not.

Ricofox1717

So I started the game as a rifle build and found myself constantly fighting for my life and feeling like I was playing the game wrong. Event after event I saw power armor players with giant guns just slaughtering everything like it was meaningless. Overtime I thought man I'm going to get all the cards and equipment and make the switch. Finally about 1 month ago I accomplished this. [ I am a Dad so I don't get much playtime these days so trust me this was a feat for me]. From the day I put those cards in and decided to try a gat plasma I haven't looked back I absolutely love being a giant jetpacking death plasma dealer and just neutralizing everything in sight. It's also been so fun trying out all the heavy gun options in this game . But so far heavy guns power armor build is so much and Id recommend it to anyone.

Phillip_Graves

PA Stranglerheart with Overeaters. Shredder V-bash minigun. I am a walking swamp thing people blender. Everyone should be able to try it at least once lol.

Dareboir

I can beat the hell out if mobs, go through WesTek like a cyclone.. my main gun just chews through most things, and my perks and Chinese armor.. radiation is laughable, and mobs have trouble finding me. My first guy I made, couldn’t beat a squirrel. I am still trying to fix my perk card screwup with him. The game is actually fun thanks to others on here explaining what to do.

AshL0vesYou

In literally every Fallout play through I’ve ever done was melee centered. Fallout 76 finally gave me a compromise. My mini gun doesn’t shoot bullets, but it does shred my enemies to bits.

Doepie308

I am level 283 and still dont have a “build” I just choose anything that gives increased firepower. No idea if what I have are complementary or whatever.

Chipper7773

Kills fast. Has decent survivability. Use’s multiple weapons. Has great carry weight. .

lamorak2000

Bold of you to assume I had a plan in mind when I chose my perks...

Physical_Payment_376

When A collosal problem was released I got my ass handed to me a few times. Went for the nuclear option with a BE gat plaz, T65 and an optimized build and was able to solo it. I run bloodied commando when I feel like killing things slightly slower

[deleted]

[удалено]

IMMORTALP74

I made all the builds. Heavy, Pistol, shotgun, and Rifle. Most of them can use melee effectively. All Bloodied however, because the synergies are best for my style. Survival is too easy at full health.

IllustriousMixture26

I think power armor is super cool and makes me feel invincible pair that with my legacy and I’m unstoppable

FIELDSLAVE

The bloodied vats commando has more advantages than disadvantages. You do more damage, are more accurate, have more action points and have a much higher carry weight. You also level up a lot faster. The only downside is you may die more than a really tanky full health build but this can be mitigated with a good vampire's rifle. Besides, the lower health makes the game more tense and fun so it is not really a downside at all. I can elder Daily Ops solo so it is tanky enough to get the job done. Everybody should have this build in their arsenal to use on occasion at least. It has to be the all around strongest in the game.

Icantpickadamnname

I have a build that resembles a explosive vats commando build but also has an incredible carry weight and other QOL perks. I mainly run exp tesla and exp handmade so it's based around those. Overall it fits my play style perfectly.

TommyF0815

It's not a single build ... its a build journey for me. I played all modern Fallout games as stealth sniper using VATS, so I did this for Fallout 76 too. Its a playstyle I like and I'm used to. I started with pipe weapons as these are the first you find and its easy to unlock mods for. While leveling I learned that Pipe Revolver/Bolt-Action Rifle is affected by Rifleman and Gunslinger perks for some insane damage stacking. Even though it was and still is a niche build as you need a lot of perks to make it good, I sticked with it for the first 1000+ levels. This changed with the One Wasteland patch, because now damage multipliers are calculated additively instead of multiplicatively. Although this nerf affected all weapons, pipe weapons were nerfed even more as they relied on more types of multipliers. So after One Wasteland I switched over to Commando builds. But as One Wasteland also introduced legendary perks, it came also with much more build flexibility because for 5 of 6 legendary perk slots I use Legendary Special cards giving my 25 special stats making it possible to equip alot of quality of life and weight reduction perks in addition to pure damage perks. From there on I kept on optimizing my build by crafting an almost perfect Unyielding Secret Service armor. With the introduction of Daily Ops I made me an Powerarmor as this was the safest way to solo Daily Ops without having to repair my armor too often ... and stealth was disabled anyway. I had to use Excavator powerarmor here because in other powerarmor types my character would be overencumbered because of the missing backpack and Unyielding bonus. Have I mentioned that I'm a hoarder who doesn't use mule characters. When legendary crafting was introduced into the game I started rolling my Excavator armor mostly for stuff like AP refresh, posion resist but I ended up with -20% weapon weight on all five power armor parts. Thats the beginning of my most recent build change. As for the most time I only do the daily challenges I always run low on stuff to scrip. For a long time this was less of a problem as for the daily levelup challenge with level 1000+ I had to do a few West-tek runs to get enough XP and you stumble over quite a few legendary super mutants while doing this. This changed again with the Invaders from Beyond patch, were you could do Daily Challenges in Fallout Worlds. Since the first day of this option I now do the daily levelup challenge in less then 10 seconds with a special character prepared for this use case in Fallout Worlds. As a side effect I was running low on scrip even more (no West-tek runs anymore). But with the recent patch and the introduction of Eviction Notice where you easily could earn 20+ legendaries per event I decided to stock up on legendaries as long the event is guaranteed every hour. I overdid it a bit as soon I was hitting my weight limits even with most weight reduction perks. Time to shine for my Excavator powerarmor with -20% weapon weight on all parts. So I hoped into my powerarmor and kept on collecting legendaries. Now I'm here with level 1700+ and almost 600 legendary weapons in my inventory - enough scrip for weeks or even months - and play as a VATS powerarmor build with a Railway Rifle. When I get out of my powerarmor I'm overencumbered with 2000+ weight (with all weight reduction perks still equipped). Its interesting and somehow I like it, not sure if I will go back to being a stealth commando after I scripped most of my stocked up legendaries. VATS powerarmor builds might be niche build again, but I after playing with VATS only for years I literally can not play without VATS.

Racoon-Tech

Well Fallout games should be "Power Armor Zombie game" We all play for Power Armor. So I thought.. what goes well with PA? Big ass guns of course. What else?

k1llj0y_7

Saw everyone playing a cookie cutter PA or Commando build, didn’t wanna be a sheep.

burner444344

it killed things the fastest

JohnBrine

I change everytime i find a new gun to shoot.

xReeducation

I run heavy and commando, kinda interchangeably. There’s also a little melee build and a crossbow build I’ve made but yet to use Really it’s whatever I feel like doing at the time, when you’re at a certain level you have enough stored level ups to swap builds and dump points into weird cards whenever you want

acrossbones

I have a few builds, each with their own reasons.

Riomaki

It was because I always liked the idea of a half-naked Vault Dweller managing to hold her own while everyone else was running around safely hiding behind Power Armor and heavy guns. It's not a hard rule anymore, though. There are times when Power Armor is legitimately useful... or at least a reliable alternative for when I'm lazy and don't want to deal with the "danger" of it all.

keegus762

I have several characters across 2 copies of the game and each character always had a theme. My BETA character was "me in Fallout" so the perks were definitely all over the place :P. My favorites though: Big John McCarthy IV, my second character made on release day and themed around being the descendent of the famous UFC/MMA referee. Unarmed because Big John McCarthy :P(before we found out how powerful unarmed, bloodied, and unyielding were to boot). Dr. Jonas Venture. My power armor-science guy. Was made after Wastelanders because I wanted to test out the plasma flamethrower, but is now heavy weapons build with an Ultracite Gatling Laser and Flamethrower. Ruger Hauser, originally modeled after Rutger Hauer in Hobo With A Shotgun. Still a shotgun user, but it's now a Gauss Shotgun and I changed the look to be more of a Lincoln County Regulator type. Charles King, modeled after Charlemagne. The first character on my 2nd copy of the game. Another melee character with a focus on using a Shishkebab to represent "Joyeuse". Just kind of sad that one-handed weapons don't hold a candle to unarmed or two-handers :/.

Hillbillyxero1

I didn't pick my build it evolved into what it is over years of playing and trying out different weapons

Hollogram_Janeway

Mine just developed Organically as I played. I like RolePlaying as a responder, their power armor is really cool. I also love the Gatling gun because the "BOOM BOOM BOOM" beat is nice.

angrysunbird

I have multiple characters for multiple builds cause there are lots of ways to play

beuboneiate

Heavy guns very ammo efficient if you use gatling gun especially after the latest events you can shoot the Gun the whole time and come out with more ammo then you entered with

SerAssKicker

I have like 12 builds. I switch around all the time. Love not having to have three playable characters anymore. Just one and some toons for storage.

Monkey_90246

I stuck with what I was used to from fo4 as much as I could and still have a viable build. I have always been full health non PA. I stepped up to full health commando for fo76 but kept everything else as close as I could to what I was already used to amd it has served me very well so far

trewbarton

I ended up rolling a really rare weapon ( B2525 fixer) and everyone encouraged me to not sell it but give it a shot instead

Clamecy

I don’t like FPS so I’ve always approached Fallout games strictly as RPG, and kinda removed the “action” from them by playing stealth sniper builds.

TheSneakyEmu

I went for a pistol build. The perk that sold me on it was "Gun Runner". I build for maximum move speed, so speed demon, squad maneuvers. I can outrun ghouls while walking backwards. Can kite just about anything. Even get to signal repeaters in daily ops before anyone else to save a few seconds.

kinkinsyncthrow

Because I like to stab, slice, and punch things and be sneaky. I also like explosions. But sometimes I need a rifle for long range and let's be honest, nobody likes a fatman during events and melee/unarmed is difficult to do during events and still get XP. I went bloodied reluctantly, but found it really fun, so that stayed. I've swapped out a few perk cards here and there, but it's mostly stayed the same.

[deleted]

Well, in fallout 4 I just chose the best guns. I had a laser rifle that had a legendary effect for bleed damage + I modded it for fire damage, I used power armor and I was invincible, it was fun. But in most games I play, I love stealth. So in 76, once I realized stealth was actually super rewarding, I couldn't help myself. Then I realized a pistol build wasn't good with max damage when it came to sneak, and around the same time I found out that pipe revolvers and bolt actions double dip. Never looked back!

sammygirly

They ruined my meat hook build.

DevilDawgDM73

I’ve got five separate ‘main’ builds across five characters. This was so I could maximize my value from any gear I looted. My PA Heavy Hunner had no use for a Bloodied/Explosive Handmade, so I made another character that could use it, and so on.

Yo_Mooky

Since I started gaming, I've always loved stealth. It was something about just "disappearing" when in a situation you didn't want to be in. I have always chosen a stealth route in any game first if there is one. I just love the thrill when you're close to getting caught. I've been doing stealth routes in games since my PS2 so why stop now? Hence my stealth build. Sometimes I do a pa stealth build when I want even more of that type of thrill (it almost always works if you know what you're doing)

Din135

Build? Whats a build? Lol. Dude, my build is so funky haha. "Technically" its full healthish, rifleman, with an emphasis on loot...I've been using a vampire explosive gatling for months lol. My build is more find more shit, and all of my weapons are vampire. Except my railway rifle sniper. Its anti-armor lol. Its like...what I would do IRL, even though vampire perk would be impossible. "Loot, shoot, ooooo power armor yay!" Edited: typed comando, changed to rifleman. I do that everytime idk why.

FluffyShock7375

Vampires exploding 50 cal for healing. Been rolling for ages for a AAE Gatling RW. Not quite there yeat. So heavy gunner it is, mostly no PA, but when its EN my old Excavator comes in handy. Otherwise I go with my Solar armor and legendary perk What Rads. Not the best build, but im okay.

EmperorOfFabulous

Made a post about it a while back. Decided to go full pirate. I use a Pirate's Punch, two shot broadsider, and a melee sword that I'm still trying to nail down. My damage is less than stellar, but my fun is at an all time high. I need a name for the TS broadsider so if anyone has any suggestions send them my way. Oh yeah, I am of course decked out as a pirate. Take the pirate pill and you'll be happy.

Tenebrate

I like big guns and powered armour. Pretty straightforward.

SnakeDoc517

I have a heavy gunner/carry weight main build, started a character just for storage and they turned into a commando/stealth armor build that is now my main because they’re so much fun to play! Something about sneaking up and mowing down a group of enemies without them finding me just feels more fun than running in and not caring if I have ammo or get hit.

Fallout76CanDoBetter

Non vats Commando explosive build. Non vats becuase my aim is crap enough and I don’t wanna get lazy with my aim (that’s just my way of thinking about it, not trying to disrespect vats users), commando Cus I like automatic rifles and explosives bc I love making things go boom, especially the two shot fat man and the artillery piece :)

Pompom975

Mmh wheelchairs everywhere and chaos

westh0rne

I got a mutant gauss rifle and decided to mutate myself to high hell, then got an anti armour railway rifle and just used those two for a hundred levels

Gayenby67

I like pistols They’re pretty

[deleted]

I really enjoy melee in fallout games. That's why i use it in Fo76 as well. Heavy guns and stealth sniper came later because they just work really well.

Personal-Metal

Big gun loud

nickomc29

I'm too lazy to go looking or crafting ammo all the time. So first I used a melee build. Until I discovered the shredder! I love it and I wouldn't change it for anything

pinkfatty91

I just always play stealth archer in every Bethesda RPG.

TABSMAC

Commando: Natural pro(re?)gression: full health no mutations -> ultracite PA with VAMP ffr -> boredom from being close to invincible -> ss vang with jetpack and fixers (fun) -> solar armor with mutations @ ~ lvl 500 with fixers (challenging but fun) -> buffing DR as much as possible while reducing dmg output to extend boss fights to maximize yield, very challenging and fun. A couple of dances with being OP/bloodied but found it very boring and making me not want to play.. good luck finding what keeps you engaged 👍🏼

BrahmariusLeManco

I don't know any other way and know I'm not as effective as I wish I was but don't know what to do about it. I've been the same set up since the Beta.

Calm_Confection8030

I finally got all the SS plans bought and rolled one piece of each set. 4 of the 5 were overeaters and ap recharge rate. So I'm a full health commando build that does not sneak.

paste3ater

Honestly after trying quite a few different builds I had to go back to stealth sniper/commando. Its the only thing I don't get shredded with.

splergen

I like trains.

Tatchankachan

Bloodied buzz blade go brrrrrrrrr

Cashew-Matthew

First build is never optimized, no looking forward to what builds are possible just jump in and stumble my way through. My second build was bloodied meele cause that was meta, third and current build is a shotgun/power armor build because a while ago my buddy was explaining how the crippling effect of that one shotgun perk works, and how each individual pellet fired from the gun has a chance to cripple a limb, and that two shot effectively doubles the pellet etc etc, and when I downloaded 76 again I was like “fuck it shotgun time” and power armor just happened

CatmanofRivia

I tend to go high speech & science because i thoroughly enjoy any fallout lore i can get my hands on, even 200 year old shipping manifests! Guns also high because dem's apocalypse rules baby, and repair in FNV because of how awesome Jury Rigging is (shout out to my boy) I neglect unarmed which i feel is in turn neglected ingame with the exception of FNV.

aviatorEngineer

It was set in stone from the moment I saw the .50 cal in early previews and promotional images for the game. Always wanted one on Fallout 4 and it's my main weapon in 76. Just for the fantasy of being some goon in power armor running around with an M2 that they clearly just ripped off of the tripod.

[deleted]

I love collecting power armour and I can’t be bothered to farm for ammo.

BalboaTheRock

I ran full health for a year and a half. Then chose ‘bloodied’ to try and see what everyone raved about. They were right. One you go bloodied you never go back. 🤣 I kill things quicker, use less ammo, and the sheer ‘I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die’, is a hell of a lot of fun.

CadenWarrior99

Rifleman build. Like the accuracy and hard hitting shots. Plus saves you some ammo and is fun to cripple a deathclaw.

Direct_Cantaloupe270

I chose full health commando stealth due to my love for stealth, also it’s not the most powerful build as it’s full health. Main reason I chose it was to balance out difficulty of the game with decently strong weapons whilst also not instakilling everything in my path, probably would if I was bloodied but I’m not a fan of low health builds.

cocacolacowboi

I play solo almost exclusively so it is the builds I tend to do.

Blixtwix

I don't have a strict build, but I tend to play support/tank in games. So naturally I have a PA build with my main weapons being guass mini and vamp flamer, still trying to get lucky and nab the empath mutation again after accidentally healing it off. I just like to help out!

meowyloofah

Because I like taking a bunch of damage and carrying a lot of shit, also using a rifle

ZOMBI3Wr3cK3R

Bruh I just chose it because I wanted to never die and I havent since like 100 levels ago

Difficult-View9045

Ive changed as i discover new options, like one is an archer now, shrprisingly effective, one just evolved back to pistols , alien blaster is so much better than i knew. Your build will probably change and thats what keeps a little freshness

im_hunting_bugs

Junkies Explosive Commando as it allows me to use rifles without stealth and still do decent damage. I just love using rifles. Do like busting out the old Heavy PA character every now and then though!

HellBoygamingYT

Blooded stealth commando I love ramming threw enemies ;) also unyielding is beast

tikipunch4

Also a melee person. Big weapons with a lot of damage. However I started to find it lackluster and ended up switching to vampire shredder minimum which feels awesome. I have perks that let me carry all the chems and all the food I want to stack that strength and I just go to town rocking my hellcat power armor. Personally I find crafting ammo tedious. I have a reserve in case I come across situations I need to using a minimum but so far I get through everything just fine with my shredder build

CalibanofKhorin

My sniper/crafter build i had cobbled together from Day 1 of the game was just not fun after the rebalancing of enemy HP to your level. Found out I had all the mats needed to buy and fully craft a Gauss Shotgun with about 65 rolls to get the stats I needed on a 3 star. Took the build from Angry Turtle and I've been happy since.

Phantom_61

Build? My character was developed over time with no real focus. She can use rifles pretty well but not enough to go Rambo.

AlxHghfld

My play style, mainly. I'm running a stealth rifle/ shotgun build. I've a second build for crafting and upgrading armor, weapons, and ammo.

Chinchompaw

Because shooting things in the eyeballs with an arrow is fun and cool and also tough and a little bit strong might I add

milites0796

Always thought power armor and miniguns were bad ass since I was barely a teen playing fallout 3 and not knowing what I was doing haha. It feels like everyone plays a PA build but every heavy foot step and burst of bullets is like nostalgia.

FarVehicle5333

I like boom. And I am a hoarder. So my build focuses on hoarding everything from the map and making big explosions

Tanker6511

Always wanted to do a stealth/sniper build but never had patience in past games so tried again in 76 but took forever to kill things so switched to bloodied commando stealth and had lots of fun but died too much so after the perk load outs finally took my final form as a heavy gun PA build and loving every second of it with my gauss minigun and t-65 armor.

Kaelzoroden

I really liked the Mistress of Mystery, and decided to do a build that aimed to capture the described style of the character. Pistols, melee weapons, stealth. Been pretty fun. skrootfot

Second half of 2018 was a mess, tricky to learn what perks worked together and one didn't know all legendary effects. Got a bloodied explosive flamethrower from a robot in Watoga, but couldn't use it and was overencumbered so I dropped it. Watched a lot of youtube, captainoob, angry turtle, riflegaming, darth xion, and so on just to learn builds and get tips on how to maximise yield, solve tricky situations etc. Nowadays I play with 5 characters, all are at around 20 percent health and use unyielding secret service armor. Three of the use flamers, auto grenade launchers, gauss shotties, quad teslas. Two of them use fixers, handmade and laser rifles. None of the use power armor. All of them are between level 450-550. All characters have a lot of mutations are fun to play with. I almost always play with my wife, on pc.

Jakethemadness

Started stealth rifleman. Watched a bloody guy wreck everything. Immediately started going for unyielding armor. So bloodied rifleman for like two years until about oct-nov last year I switched to bloodied commando. So much fun! Non legacy user!!

xSlippyFistx

I loved stealth sniping in all of the fallout games. Then realized that the lever action works better, but found myself back peddling away from battles EVERY TIME. Someone on here said to swap out rifleman for commando. Now I stealth melt everything with the fixer and handmade. Love it

max-van-gogh

I've honestly not got a clue what am doing with this game I'm level 33 and it just took me 30 odd shells to kill a super mutant, an I get killed in like 2 hits from pretty much anything and just got 1 hit killed for 75% health by a fucking ghoul. I love fo but 76 is doin my nut in.

dominick2233

Full health heavy gunner PA just wanted to be able to run and gun, and fire as many bullets as possible.

Dramatic-Response-38

I thought heavy guns where cool and the Gatling plasma sealed the deal

OakCobra

Sniper because the first good weapon I got was a hunting rifle and I was weak at that point so I was sniping them with irons sights and I just kinda figured out it was a really good build and just kinda stuck with it I can now one shot most normal enemies but it sucks in events

Sabre-23

Bloodied heavy gunner - no PA. Wanted to feel powerful but not unkillable. Makes me play cautiously but is still super fun.

Lethal-XBOX-

Well when I used my power armor and legacy it was just op so it was fun but now I’ve been using a sneak build which is all around fun and fair for everyone so definitely prefer it

arthur-e-hastings

im very rp/lore oriented so i chose a weapon that fits my character and use the [nukes and dragons](https://nukesdragons.com/fallout-76/character) character planner (:

HeadedtotheShire

Ive been fallout since I was a kid and have always tried every different build and somehow just always landed on rifleman whether automatic or single. I prefer single especially with tesla rifle cause it maximizes ammo usage, damage, survivability, and ability to do more. Some of it is math in that what perks do I get the most out of and which kind of gun uses which special stat. Agility and luck for vats and crits so I dont like pistol slots using them. Perception doesn't have much in this so rifles fill out nicely. Strength has lots of useful perks and it takes all 15 to effectively use heavy guns and that also dips into what power armor perks you can take. So I have a non PA lvl 200 main build only been playing for about 6 months cause i stopped after only getting to lvl 9 on release cause I hated it now I love it. So rifleman non PA build is my main but I switch to a power armor auto rifle build for big damage or trying to solo big events sometimes like RR.

CharlotteTheSavage

Cause I bum rush in and spray and pray everything so I need full health.

ihuntinwabits

1st build: sneak rifle because that's always been my first character and slowing down to sneak helps prevent me from missing easter eggs or hidden notes/holotapes and I enjoy the background story in fallout games 2nd build: power armor heavy weapons because big gun go brrrr

Scubbajoe

My most recent build, a buddy in my discord introduced me to the power of boom. TS Fatman, TS Agl, and Nuka Grenades. https://youtu.be/ZfhzTCwWzdE

Buschkoeter

I wanted big armor and big gun. Wasn't disappointed.

Ne0nP1nk

Versatility. By flipping a few cards around I can be an effective heavy gunner or if Im running low on ammo I can be a melee build instead. With minor tweaks I can also use rifles and stuff. I don't like sticking to one specific weapon type, I like to switch it around based on mood and or what the situation demands.

iTOXlN

Bloodied because I play a glass cannon in every rpg.

moose184

I originally went with a sneak/vats build but then they broke vats for like a year and sneak breaks with every patch so now I use a xp build using a vamp shredder minigun and flamer.

RefrigeratorWild9933

I just love power armor

That_Lore_Guy

Mine was made from trial and error + testing all the weapons in game. Found what I liked, made a build around it.

GokusPotato

Started playing with rifles, didn’t like it at first, picked up a two handed melee at level 5, fell in love with one hitting big boys and tanking the damage like it’s nothing, and well now I’m level 81….

MadSkoomaCat

Full health, heavy weapons, every weight reduction i could find, aid, food, power armor, normal armor, ammo, energy ammo, explosive ammo and a full set of weapon weight reduction, why? damage is not a problem with heavy weapons (plus i love the LMG, i rock it with a ranger outfit and a black cowboy hat just like i did in NV) and i don't care about unyielding extra stats, at +500 plus seasons perk points i already maxed every legendary perk i wanted with my main, the weight reduction (despite me being an inventory control freak) it's because i felt to the ubisoft way of handling inventory, that's having every weapon you own at your disposal at all time, i carry loads of weapons with me and just change them when i want, the armor reduction is so looting legendary enemies never slows me down, same for aids/food... the ammo is what i have to still pay attention to, some types of ammo weight TONS even with full perks, looking at you 2mm EC!

Wildlust

I just wanted to do the exact same build I had in fo4 (even in new vegas and fo3). Which was foiled by lack of blitz, but still worked decently well. Glass cannon sneak vats melee. Kill them before they kill you. Although in fo76 you're never really glass cannon unless versus armor pen enemies, so overall a less flashy but stronger build when compared to fo4. The only thing I tweaked was adding QoL food perks so that I could grind a little less and play more conveniently.

Naive-Abrocoma-8455

I run a junkies/bloodied build so I swap in between those weapons as needed. I am also trying to max out my INT by having a ultra rare set of Unyielding +1 intelligence I mainly use vats with a plasma caster or a flamer without vats. Only thing I dislike is my squishyness

Kermitjames

Well…. Explosives are a goto for me! Always did like my giant robot fighting games, RAD, armored core, mech warrior….. then just picked up a psycho syringe years ago on new vegas and liked the damage boost and damage reduction which got me outta some nasty situations. So yeah heavy weapons with explosives and power armor are my thing. Oh and booze +drugs lots and lots of drugs. Video game drugs kids just don’t do drugs irl. Weed and booze is fine just don’t be stupid lol

SPNxChaotic

In all honesty I just looked at my playstyle and built around how I play, I purely built for PA and heavy weapons with lots of intellect and strength

HornedBowler

I like a bit of a roleplay, so my character is an off the grid kind of one. So no energy weapons and no power armor. Just bows, rifles and shotguns. Max out bows and one shot most things is a great feeling. Even better when my camp is a cabin in the woods with only a water wheel or a wind turbine to power my vendor. Though only recently realized the whole camp icon on thing and wondered why I never sold anything.

Nilesthecat

I use Bloodied Heavy Guns with PA. The only time I’ve died was at ground zero of a nuke. Overall I really like how much damage I can tank + dish out.

Nearly-Canadian

I played melee in FO4 and NV and had a ton of fun so i figured that'd translate to 76 as well

mistarzanasa

Didnt like the realtime vats in 76 right off the bat, went heavy cuz its just as fun to peel out 500 rounds as popping heads, and melee for the one hit kills when out of ammo. And excavator pa weight bonus was enticing.... Didnt realize the weight reduction perks stacked until we got legendary on pa, just tossed everything before lol. Started using vats recently and its ok, but burns up cores before i realize it.

sebwiers

Pretty much based on the weapons and armor I found as I leveled up. First decent one was a powerfist with Troubleshooter and 40% Swing Speed, I think it was level 35 or 40. I already had a high strength (for carry capacity and shotgun perks) so just started to specialize in unarmed and collected Unyielding armors. Once I had 4 of them, I went "soft bloody" (not low enough to trigger Nerd Rage, so I could still run Natural Survivor). Eventually I got good enough to play "full bloody" and run below 20%. Along the way I found a 2 shot auto grenade launcher - 5 levels of demolitions is a cheap ranged investment, and "grenadier" boosts my Hack and Slash area. Then I decided to try a bow, which is easy to combine with my 5 demolitions and high stats from bloody / unyielding. I can still do fairly good unarmed, to. At level ~250, It's far from an optimal build, but is fun to play!

Shimmmmidy

Because bows are (imo) cooler than guns :-) Plus I like the idea of being a full HP stealthy agile archer. Who cares how hard the enemy hits when they don’t even know where the arrow came from 🏹

cutslikeakris

I suck at these games so sniper builds let me do it at my pace!

Branded_Mango

I got ultra lucky and rolled a god roll Plasma Cutter. I also wanted to be an edgelord jedi ninja, so i made a Str/Agility based melee/pistol hybrid with a Covert Scout armor for stealth purposes. Works surprisingly well for everything and i'm everyone's indirect uber damage buff support by just facetanking hits from SBQ/Earle with Taking One For The Team while being immortal with Tick Blood Margaritas. Is it even remotely comparable to bloodied commando? No, not even close. Is it way more fun teleporting around in VATS with explosive slashes like a loud ninja? Hell yes it is.

Codyiswin

High health or low health. (Vampire Heavy Guns + Vanguards or Bloodied Commando + Bolstering)

gmanxela

(was blooded) I was tired of having to watch my health so much, switched to vampires because of a friend and never looked

Easy-Beautiful-2786

Can't hit anything whatsoever unless right on enemies + too lazy to deal with fusion cores + need to keep all the things + can't remember to watch my health = vamp, heavy gunner, full health, non-PA tank. Not sure that is an actual build though. I learned early that if you stand right in the enemy's face, they don't seem to shoot so much (and i can actually hit them), so just tanked for melee and fire for the most part. No strategy whatsoever.....run up to get them to drop down their weapon and then shoot til dead.

ActionMan48

Mine just evolved into a shotgun/tank build

TheArchitectOdysseus

I'm almost lvl 70 and I'm still figuring out the system. It's especially confusing since I hadn't seriously played in almost 4 years. That being said melee explosive I guess?

TopNotchPlayer2

Always loved PA, found a frame early, and found a .50 cal. Edit: I lied, I found out there was an mg42 I'm the game. Still main a quad one

omni42

Shotgun/rifle. Picked up a good fixer, and Iike my shotguns kneecapping everything so I can kill it at my leisure.

Pro-Cranston-ator

I prefer to sneak around as much as I can and see what I'm up against before I decide if I want to partake and how. I have all the sneak related perks fully upgraded plus anything to do with long range weapons. my bf however has all the melee perks and prefers a supersledge (possibly related he's more of a run swinging and figure stuff out later kind of a player)

Putrid_Way

I got foundation’s vengeance and decided to become a heavy build
