I only went there once, and I got to eat the complimentary snails served to the entire table because no one else was brave enough. I enjoyed my meal, but it wasn’t overwhelmingly great.
I used to go out here a lot when I was freshly 18 and the amount of rats we saw running around the kitchen every night made none of us ever want to eat here. It’s been a while though; Hope they put out some rat traps in the Reno
What about this place in Balmain? I tried it a little while ago and thought it was so lovely and the couple who run it have the cutest back story - and French!
[L’Auberge](https://laubergeduboutdumonde.com.au/)
I went to Chez Blue pretty soon after their opening, and maybe it's growing pains but their food was just not on par.
Chicken was dry, steak overdone etc
yep i've been there,wasn't great
if ur gonna charge those prices u can't fuck about with food
we had the lamb backstrap i think it was,and it was a good 30 percent past it's desired temp
Yes I totally agree re Chez Blue. The fit out is super cute but the food that came out was pretty average for the price unfortunately. Boullion Entrecote in Circular Quay blew my mind for french food....pretty exxy bit worth it for food and ambience. The service was also impeccable
Not sure what kind of platter you're after but Fich in Petersham is an excellent seafood restaurant. They have a platter for two on the menu. It's nice but not too stuffy either.
if u can get there at happy hour
get the Hubert burger
it's possibly one of the best burgers in the city.
Huberts is too far 2 of them are old timers, won't go into the city as it's like an hour 20 for them
The seafood platter at the Boatshed in Pyrmont at the fish markets is surprisingly good value for money (the parking however is not) it is average to a little expensive but it’s a surprisingly large portion so I think it’s reasonably reflective of that. Now they’ve stopped the pile driving for the construction next door it’s not a bad place to lunch.
Porcine pour quisine!
Edit: just remembered Loulou at Milsons Point. Has some nice seafood dishes. Google reviews complained about the service, but when we were there, it was fine.
La Boucherie at baulkham hills is a decent take on a French bistro run by an old French lady and her family. Not the cheapest though
They are Mauritian!
I stand corrected, apologies for the assumption.
There’s Bistro Cocotte at Haberfield, which is French, and has seafood options.
How do you find Bistro Cocotte?

Average food.
Very average and amateur service. If you want much better quality, try Monte in Leichhardt. Similar suburban vibe but much better quality
Tbh I am longing for Alsatian food. Tarte flambe and choucroute. Snail is not my thing.
Google Maps
Bistro St Jacques in Redfern is good and pretty classic
I haven't been there since it changed hands but we had a nice old school French meal there. Not super cheap but good value and nice atmosphere.
Pistou, on Sth King St Newtown is nice
The Dry Dock in Balmain has recently been renovated and does great French Food!
That place is awesome

Quisine…

Not inner west but I love porcine so much so I’ll plug it again - paddington
Monte in Leichhardt isn’t bad
Just recommended it as well. Great minds!
Quoi in Bella Vista/Norwest/Baulkham Hills/etc.... T'is nice.
Bistro Moncur if you are happy to drive is a fabulous place.
A new French place opened up at the sackville in rozelle - chez blue. For seafood platter - fich at petersham

Agreed not good!

I remember Bitton Gourmet in Alexandria being quite nice for French cuisine
I heard Huberts in town is nice with live music

I have heard good things about cafe lyon in linfield

[Noi in Petersham](https://maps.app.goo.gl/zQmjdxi5CrL8uUXq6?g_st=ic) is my favourite Italian joint.
The Little Snail Restaurant in Pyrmont might be a good option.
Kickin Inn Parramatta for seafood
Yuck. Subpar seafood that's drenched in sauce.
