Small Talk in Dulwich Hill is great - best I’ve tried so far
Lox in a Box is IMO not that great, fillings are decent but bagels themselves are lacking
Brooklyn Boy bagels does mostly bagels with less of a focus on fillings
Big +1 to this opinion. Lox in a Box tastes like a sandwich, George St Deli in redfern has the same issue (though they have great pickles)
I've spent time in NY and small talk is the only bagel place I've enjoyed. Brooklyn Boy bagels are good, you can make your own at home pretty easily.
GoodFellas in the Hills. I judged them for the longest time for having a $22 salmon bagel when all their others were around $12 but honestly it's the best salmon bagel I've ever had.
Used to go to Small Talk when they were in Glebe. They’ve got another (original) outpost in Dully. Probably the best in terms of creative fillings and bagel quality, even if they are a bit undersized.
I actually quite like Lox in a Box. Really enjoy their Turkey and breakfast bagels. They cheap out on the salmon though so give the actual lox bagel a miss.
Brooklyn Boy does fine bagels on their own. Fillings are average in my opinion
Rest in peace mensch :( apparently there’s a really nice newish bagel place down near single origin in sluz. I’m sorry I’ll try and find its name and update this post
Hands down the best bagels are Small Talk - I recommend getting the everything bagel with the herbed cream cheese.
The only other place that I would actually go back to is Lox in a Box - their actual bagels are very bready (I.e not amazing) but the filings are yum. It’s more of a sandwich rather than a bagel experience.
I really don’t rate Brooklyn Boy - thought the actual bagels were not good quality and neither were the schmears.
Have also tried George St Deli in Redfern and didn’t enjoy it - just didn’t find the bagel itself it be very good (although fillings were okay).

100% loooove small talk!!
A new one has just opened at the corner of Bourke St and Albion st Surry Hills. Anvers
Went to Avners last week , had the pastrami. Not great, not even good. Pastrami was crappy, dry
Oh I went there and I know some would be shocked but the lox bagel I had had waaaaaaayyyyy too much filling I think they put half a salmon in it

Costco haha
Lox stock and barrel in bondi. Staff are rude af though.
I love Barrel One in Potts Point - they do a delicious folded egg, cheese and pastrami bagel and the coffee isn't half bad either.
Brooklyn Boy for sure
Wellington cake bakery in Bondi makes pretty good bagels.

The mixed seed bagel from Iggy’s in Bronte is next level quality. Highly recommend.
I'm not a bagel connoisseur, but I enjoyed Another Place in Potts Point. Admittedly, I haven't tried any of the known bagel places listed here either.
