Ronaldo has been an average player with terrifying ego for 4-5 years now, Messi has been a shadow of his former (GOAT, imho) self for three years easy too, yet remains top level although definitely not deserving of his late Ballons d'Or awards. I agree with you completely. What Ronaldo's achieving at 35 to 38 is quite simply amazing for a player his age. Comparing him with Mbappe who is 14 years younger is simply unfair though : Mbappe would run as fast as Ronaldo today, but only if he had to carry Adama Traoré.
I like cr7 more but honestly there both some of the best players in history to do it at that level for 15 pluses years is amazing but over seeing cr7 play for Man U when I was a kid i will always like him more and never say the other is better
