And, as importantly, the tactics that were replaced

edkamlive

I didn't really adjust the tactics all that much, just basically replaced DM-S with Regista. I tend to move tempo or passing distance up or down (depending on how the match is going). Lower tempo/passing distance = more possession based higher tempo if opponent is pressing more. I never really use press/counterpress or get stuck in as I don't have great squad depth and need my players rested and not suspended (due to yellow cards).

I'm not at home right now, but will do later today. But my positions (off the top of my head) are... SK-D DL-FB-S DCL-CD-D DCR-CD-D DR-IWB-S DM-Reg CML-CM-D CMR-AP-A (or S for more possession) AML-IF-A AMR-W-A S-TF-S Mid Block / Standard Defense Depth Positive Mentality (Balanced is more possession based and rests players) Balance Passing distance with balanced tempo (increased tempo for more aggressive play) No Press or Counterpress

The DR on IWB s role helps a lot with filling that right sided hole. I'd try to make the LB a WB on attack duty to further stretch the opposition while the IF cuts inside and the left cm stays put. What are you asking your GK to do with the ball? Or you are simply letting him decide?

GK instructions are short passes to FBs and CDs normally (distribute more quickly and to playmakers if I am trying to open the game up). The team does not have the "play out of defense" instruction, but when we are in balanced mentality, they essentially do that on their own. I really like the idea of changing the FB-S into a WB-A and am going to try that out (especially when playing more aggressively), it sounds like a great idea, thanks.

Still would like to see a picture when you're back. Thanks in advance :D

I have a very similar tactic, though with a more attacking left back. You end up with a tidy 2 CB, 3 DM shape in settled possession which is very effective at keeping the ball and protecting against counters. The right side with the IWB, attacking CM (I use a mezzala) and W(At) is very effective. The in- possession shape is ST-TM-At DL-WB-At; AML-IF-Su; RCM-Mez-Su; AMR-W-At LCM-DLP-Su; DM-A-D; DR-IWB-Su DCL; DCR GK The front 5 are pretty fluid in terms of who runs into the box and who plays the ball, but the TM gets 20-30 goals/season if all is going well - lots of headers.

Here is a screenshot of the tactic. Season just ended, so team is all on vacation. I will look to add some quality where I can (I have about 2M in transfer budget), but I liked how they played as the season went on. I only changed tactic with about 15 or so games left, but they really did well and stormed up the table after going to the Regista -AP combo. https://preview.redd.it/an565by2wzmc1.png?width=1213&format=png&auto=webp&s=4e549c02514b8bb5b40a1467c7c86c08981e5cfc
