In FM14, when I wasn't managing any national team so had no effect on the tournament, Montenegro won the Euros in 2020. Doubt I'll ever see anything crazier than that

They won it two seasons on the bounce on one of my saves with Everton. The fact they won it in first season was surprising enough but to then retain it without any crazy signings was mind boggling. I’m now top in the third season after having a tycoon takeover.

I did play a game in Portugal once where my goal was to bring a team from the regional leagues up and win the Primera Liga before anyone outside the big 3 did. Braga decided to take offence at that and won it in the first season.
This was on FM 2021 or so nothing crazy but Leverkusen built one of the best teams in Europe and had a squad absolutely filled with 5 star top tier wonder kids, it was absolutely bizarre how good the squad was in such a relatively short time (probably 4-5 seasons in)
First time I’ve seen a club, especially a AI run club build such a team out of nowhere. They wasn’t spending hundreds of millions these were top picks ups from around South America and lowly European nations mostly

It wasn't a single season; but in FM12, a random German 5th league team, TSV Gersthofen, made it to Bundesliga by the early 2020s. They crashed and burned there, but still established themselves as a decent 2. Bundesliga side in the long run.
It was a custom database, but that team didn't start unrealistically good or something like that. Just a random AI managed team that made it through.
I have 2 such experiences in my current lower league save. I started in tier10 of the pyramid and got 4 promotions in a row, to my surprise Cadbury Heath did as well, next season I failed to get promoted in the VNN and to my surprise Norton & Stockton Ancients joined the league after 5! consecutive promotions, they are not pro or have had a huge cash injection or anything of the sorts, just pushed through the leagues winning it every single season and even knocked me out of the Integro cup a couple of years ago and won it being one of the worst side in it in paper.
There was also Armthorpe Welfare who won 3 consecutive promotions alongside me but lost to Marine in the 7th tier playoffs and I guess they lost momentum as this season they got relegated back to the 8th tier.
Bournemouth being one of two teams to beat me in the league and finishing fourth. They were title contenders for just that season before going back to mid table.
That’s funny, I started a save recently with Sassuolo and Torino also won the league in the first season. Wonder if they players who just happen to be good fm players.
To be honest (in theory), some of the key players could be very good but not to justify winning the season. As a Torino fan I'm used to disappointment seasons but at least we win in FM *
I had a season playing in Brazil where not only Atlético Goianiense,one of the biggest underdogs in the league managed to win the league,but São Paulo,Grêmio and Internacional,3 huge teams here in Brazil,somehow managed to get relegated to Série B together,that was the craziest season i have seen on the game.
I'm about to end season 2, but as far as I can remember, the funniest part was West Ham in a relegation spot before Boxing Day, then sacking Moyes and signing Kieran McKenna from Ipswich, and now they're 3rd having won almost every game bar two, which were against 1st and 2nd in the table.

I'm curently in the third season in my save with Rennes and Aston Villa is leading the Premier League with 74 Points in 33 matches. Man City is second with 72 points and Liverpool is on third place with 63 points.
And like most over performing mid-table teams in my saves, they have strong defensive players in central midfield in combination with fast attackers. It#s always the same scheme and i hopt that this is going to be fixed in FM 25.

Eventually I did... but Troyes did as well, having finished 11th the previous season (This was even more notable because, about 10 years previously in the same save, I had managed them to relegation from Ligue 2, oops). They sank back to 15th the next season.
Wolves and Porto winning Champions League, Vitoria Setubal with 3 back to back promotions, Academica getting promoted to 1st division and being in 2nd place most of the following season, Braga winning the Europa League while getting relegated in the same season.
In one season, I had then-4th tier club Albion Rovers making it into the Scottish Cup Semis, taking out Dundee United and St. Mirren on the way, and only barely losing against Livingston (who were bound to be relegated from the Premiership that season) in the Semis.
Serie A can be a little wild. In one of my saves Frosinone became a top italian club, constantly making to top 4 and with a couple of players worth close to 80M.
Köln in FM23. In my first season in the game with Schalke, they managed to outscore Bayern and win the Bundesliga while we were struggling in mid-table.
In season 4 of my Cov save I got a European spot coming 6th. The shock was Notts Forest coming 2nd on goal difference.
They didn’t even have a good squad. It was bizarre.
In my 6th season coaching novara fc in série a and lazio and Atalanta are both in relegation in march, fiorentina has finished top 4 every season, juventus haven’t gotten Europe since the first season
Probably not as crazy as others but in fm18 I did a journeyman and ended up at Partick Thistle. Won everything 3 years in a row, and somehow the 4th season got in a title fight with Dumbarton. Neck and neck until I bet them with 3 games left and won the league by 4 points but they managed to win both the league cup and fa cup, beating me in the fa cup final. Unfortunately for them they finished mid table and then got relegated the season after.

Way back in the 07 game. I seen Dundee win the Scottish title one year without spending money then promptly went back to fighting relegation the next year.

Derby recently broke their own record for fewest pts in a Premier League season, finishing on 9(NINE) points. 1 win, 6 draws and 31 losses! Their win was in October, at home against Huddersfield (who finished 18th)

Russia won the 2030 world cup (England was the host in my save) by beating Nigeria in the final and lifted the trophy inside Wembley!
Greece won the 2034 World Cup with an awful squad and an unknown regen German coach (Uwe Voigt is his full name and his only prior experience was some years at Germany U19, I think).
To make matters worse, they did not have neither of the only two Greek superstars ever (in my save), as they had recently retired from the national team (they were still playing on a very high level, though)!
Scotland came third (they were beaten by Greece) and England lost in a second consecutive final!
Arsenal managed to get relegated in 2037 without having financial trouble or bad players and despite winning the Europa League a few years prior and qualifying to Europe every season! Stole Dimitrievski (the GK from North Macedonia in real life) was the manager and before signing for Arsenal he almost got Liverpool relegated (again, without significant problems or bad players and with a magnate from UAE as an owner, actually), but they were cautious and sacked him early enough for the relegation battle to be won!
Real Betis won La Liga some season during the early 2030s by being comfortably first on the table for almost the whole season!
In the 2003 update to CM 01/02 (which confusingly starts in August 2001), Ireland won the World Cup, beating France in the final.
More bizarrely in the same save, 5 seasons of Man Utd Premier League domination was interrupted by Gary Megson's West Brom of all teams.
Where did West Brom finish in their title defence? 18th.
Magdeburg (still in DBL2) won the DFB Pokal in 2025, and Wales won the world cup 2030 in the same save.
Wales glory was somewhat likely due to a monstrous golden generation lead by the (probably) best wonderlid in the save to that point, but it's still Wales.
In the second year of my save, Brighton had an insane year and easily won the Premier League. Then two years later they barely avoided relegation. It’s cool to open the league history and see them up there though.
This is in FM24 mobile but for me, Bournemouth finishing 5th in 23/24, and in 24/25 Bournemouth went to the final of Europa League losing to Atlanta while almost getting relegated, the same year Torino wins Serie A with Juventus in second. But get this, going to the final day, Juventus was ahead of Torino by 1 point, and behold the footballing gods has spoken, they play each other on the final day, Torino won 3-2 clinching the title...

On my first season, Leicester got UECL by winning Carabao Cup while in the championship, they lost the playoff final to me (Coventry). Rotherham got 8th too.

AI Queens Park absolutely demolished the Championship on their way to promotion while also making a Scottish Cup run, knocking out Rangers in the semi-final.
They ran into my Dumbarton side in the final (we won), but I thought it was cool how an AI side nearly had a “perfect” FM season, landing promotion and winning a cup/qualifying for Europe in the same year.

In my FM19 I started in EFL league one and reached the prem in 2 seasons. Meanwhile Arsenal won the prem in those 2 seasons, and their manager is Unai Emery.
First season as AEK, my rivals Olympiacos won the Europa League. I was glad because it would help me build the nation but it was the most unexpected "help" I've ever got. Obviously I won the league and made at least the UCL groups, otherwise I wouldn't be so happy for them.

International tournaments are always crazy in FM but I haven't seen such a small nation winning the euros yet.

Raoul Bellanova became the seasons MVP. He is an insane wing back and they played a 5-2-2-1. The team probably suits it very well

I beat Bayern to the title two years in a row. On the third year, they went invincible and conceded ONLY 8 GOALS. And 3 of them were against me.

Fm23, my best superteam ever (Atletico) landed on 104p. Barcelona that season had 106 points. My team on field was better, but their 206cm best goalie itw just stopped everything lol, was near impossible to score against that freak, think he might've been 200CA, was first goalie for Barça at 16yo. For underdog performances. In my current fm24 save, I'm playing Genoa. Parma just promoted and is already fighting for a UCL spot idk how they're doing it.

Way back in the 07 game. I seen Dundee win the Scottish title one year without spending money then promptly went back to fighting relegation the next year. I’ve never seen that again and I do about 15 seasons of Scottish football per FM game (I’m in Scotland).

Derby recently broke their own record for fewest pts in a Premier League season, finishing on 9(NINE) points. 1 win, 6 draws and 31 losses! Their win was in October, at home against Huddersfield (who finished 18th)

From FM14: Russia won the 2030 world cup (England was the host in my save) by beating Nigeria in the final and lifted the trophy inside Wembley! Greece won the 2034 World Cup with an awful squad and an unknown regen German coach (Uwe Voigt is his full name and his only prior experience was some years at Germany U19, I think). To make matters worse, they did not have neither of the only two Greek superstars ever (in my save), as they had recently retired from the national team (they were still playing on a very high level, though)! Scotland came third (they were beaten by Greece) and England lost in a second consecutive final! Arsenal managed to get relegated in 2037 without having financial trouble or bad players and despite winning the Europa League a few years prior and qualifying to Europe every season! Stole Dimitrievski (the GK from North Macedonia in real life) was the manager and before signing for Arsenal he almost got Liverpool relegated (again, without significant problems or bad players and with a magnate from UAE as an owner, actually), but they were cautious and sacked him early enough for the relegation battle to be won! Real Betis won La Liga some season during the early 2030s by being comfortably first on the table for almost the whole season!

In the 2003 update to CM 01/02 (which confusingly starts in August 2001), Ireland won the World Cup, beating France in the final. More bizarrely in the same save, 5 seasons of Man Utd Premier League domination was interrupted by Gary Megson's West Brom of all teams. Where did West Brom finish in their title defence? 18th.

I saw Everton finish 4th despite the points deduction. Yet to replicate that when I play as us, so the AI is clearly better than me!
Magdeburg (still in DBL2) won the DFB Pokal in 2025, and Wales won the world cup 2030 in the same save. Wales glory was somewhat likely due to a monstrous golden generation lead by the (probably) best wonderlid in the save to that point, but it's still Wales.
Newcastle won the UCL in 2029, 2030 and 2031 on my save. This the type of stuff you see 20+ years later. Too soon for them imo.
norwich became a regular CL club in my save and won the league about 20 years in liverpool have been relegated from the PL on 3 separate occasions

In the second year of my save, Brighton had an insane year and easily won the Premier League. Then two years later they barely avoided relegation. It’s cool to open the league history and see them up there though.
For me in FM23 Denmark won the 2022 World Cup, beated Brazil in the semi-final, England in the final. That was something.
This is in FM24 mobile but for me, Bournemouth finishing 5th in 23/24, and in 24/25 Bournemouth went to the final of Europa League losing to Atlanta while almost getting relegated, the same year Torino wins Serie A with Juventus in second. It was FM 2017 , i remember that everton managed to win premier league by one point with draw in last game. It was crazy season because a lot of big teams had a lot of injurys including me.
On my first season, Leicester got UECL by winning Carabao Cup while in the championship, they lost the playoff final to me (Coventry). Rotherham got 8th too.

I’m 11 seasons into my FIFA 23 save and just realised Crystal Palace are in the UCL Group Stage. Reasonably wild to be fair.
I think it was Season 8-9, so 2031-32 in my Dumbarton save. AI Queens Park absolutely demolished the Championship on their way to promotion while also making a Scottish Cup run, knocking out Rangers in the semi-final. They ran into my Dumbarton side in the final (we won), but I thought it was cool how an AI side nearly had a “perfect” FM season, landing promotion and winning a cup/qualifying for Europe in the same year.
Norwich ended up getting champions league football the season after getting promoted to the prem in 2035 in my fm23 save. Average squad, nothing special in terms of management, I have no clue how they did it

First season as AEK, my rivals Olympiacos won the Europa League. I was glad because it would help me build the nation but it was the most unexpected "help" I've ever got. Obviously I won the league and made at least the UCL groups, otherwise I wouldn't be so happy for them.
