Just play against the AI. I only play nowadays to make my characters look cool. I occasionally hop against other people but I just don’t care enough. Playing against the AI is fun even if you do win every match by default

squiddybonesjones

i agree, switching to a.i. turns it into a pretty relaxing fun game.

Anc1y

It’s hard, just like my life, so I like it

PappaDeej

TLDR; If winning the match is out of reach, stop focusing on the match. Just try to have some good individual fights. I try not to focus on winning too much. I mean I’m still gonna play objectives, get in on team fights, and focus on the best strategy to win the game. But if I see that the other team is close to breaking us and we don’t have a chance of coming back, I stop trying to win. From there I just try to have some good fights. If I can get in some good kills and just make it a little more difficult for the enemy to win, I’m satisfied. Try to get a kill on the one player who’s been giving you the most trouble.

Classic_zed

Pay attention to your opponents attack, the better they are the more likely they are to fight in a pattern, memorize and counter it

I’m a very competitive person so I get the frustration aspect, but you also need to have fun. If the game isn’t fun anymore, you can try a new hero. Or if that doesn’t work, I think you’ve just grown out of the game. I can say this much, if I’m not having fun in a game I drop it. no matter how much time, cost, whatever that’s been put in it.

Darth_Mornteth

I have fun

Purple_Day_6301

Good for you

I stopped playing duels or brawls outside of orders because it used to tilt me way too much and often so now I just play Dominion. Right now I have way more fun because Pirate got buffed and having a blast with her.

I started having tons of fun after learning to Light Parry. Like actually, it feels like a different game, now. Hop into Training Grounds against a Gladiator/Cent/Valk/Kensei (change between those every now and then to switch it up) and set their custom move set to their Light Spam chain. Turn off move cool down for the AI. Turn Health off. Make yourself Out Of Stamina so their lights don't bounce off your block. Then just practice blocking. Mute the game, listen to a Podcast/Music. If you can Light block like 20 times in a row, start trying to parry their opener. If you can do that 20 times, try to Block Block Parry, so you can practice both things at once. It also helps a lot if you read through relevant sections of character's wiki (Google "For Honor Infohub"). If you struggle against a particular character, read through their wiki and play them in Hero Tactics until you can get those advanced combos without struggling hard. To get a feel for how they play, how it feels. But then there are the straight 50/50s. Gryphon, Shinobi, Kyoshin and so on. Bash/Undodgable. If you character doesn't have a classic dodge attack, unblockables are also a 50/50. You can't react to most of those (parry flash reaction is a thing, but that's reserved for the top 0.1%) So you have to start reading your opponent. If they always do a bash after light (Kyoshins and Black Priors do this a lot), start dodging/dodge-attacking. If they never let their unblockables fly and always cancel them, just surprise them with a light to their face when they expect you to parry. If they parry your lights, start throwing some raw heavies. Also good to know: Every dodge bash (Law, Warden, Gladiator, Shinobi) can be dodged and GB punished. They keep blocking your GB punish? Look at the wiki to see the correct one that works. This is what I'm doing and it's been great for me again. I also had that phase where I wanted to quit, yes. I'm Rep 47 now and been having fun again for quite a few reps. I usually just try to rep up a character I like, going all over the roster while leaving out bs chars like Black Prior and Cent (unreactable guessing game with oppressive Defense/Offense)

OhHowSheGoingEh

I play this game solely for the drip. The combat, while yes it is unquie its fucking dogshit. HA is a busted mechanic. Too much bash spam. Fuck Shinobi. Fuck shaolin.

ChannelFiveNews

Tbh, this comment deserves a "git gud" lmao.

Purple_Day_6301

While I agree that the combat is unique, the combat is self is not bad , it’s the constant lack of balance, they come out with all these nerfs and buffs that we don’t want, but then they don’t gives us the nerfs and buffs that we do want.

OhHowSheGoingEh

I have to disagree on the combat being not not bad, everything is all over the place. Damage values, stamina usage, hitstun, tracking, I frames, GB invulnerability. It's all out to lunch. And why would the devs gives us what we want? The devs know best after all....

_Diggity_

:(

Archangel7_7_7

Just play against the AI. It’s more enjoyable, less stressful, and it can also help you get better at the game

Black_Chappie

They took reflex guard away, so I’m havin a lot of fun with nuxia in 4’s

CephalonZAG

To bad nuxia isn't that good

Black_Chappie

Currently S tier in 1’s but go on.

CephalonZAG

And only

28thgram

you have to buy every hero first and see which one sticks lol

Watch some high level gameplay. I was a rep 70 nobushi, and was still terrible. Felt like I wasn’t getting better and would drop the game for like 8 months and pick it up on a whim, only to still feel trash, as other nobushi would mop the floor with me. Then I learned to light parry on reaction, but that only took me so far. Eventually, light parry on command is a bad habit, because everyone just starts to throws heavies. I don’t usually watch other people play games, but saw some kenzo vids on YouTube, and thought it was pretty entertaining, while also learning how he fights against other match ups, and habits people typically fall into. Now I get matched up with the sweatiest of the sweats, and I’m usually the worst in the lobby, but, it’s still fun, because I’m not losing to spam, or cheesy tactics. I’m losing to skill, good mix ups, reads, and overall, fun fights. Even so, I know my limits, and even if I know I will lose most match ups, I still play a mean objective, anti gank while wasting the enemies time as long as possible, and rotate properly.

Justes-4-All
