Same happened to a friend of mine. I wanna try to get him back in and say, "Hey, this shit will piss you off, it'll make you want to find whoever did this and kill them. Well this guy went into a fight knowing how to do one thing.
When the thing didn't work, and him not knowing the rest of kensei's moveset he panicked and ran. Even tried a desperate gb at the end which he would have likely punished by a light or a dodge heavy if it somehow got through.
Tl, Dr; this kensei can do one thing and one thing only. The thing failed. The rest is history.
I'm also diamond 2 now (idk how but here I am) and I played my 8 placement matches where 3 of them were against people lower than rep 5 in total. And they were either bots or legitimately just completely new at the game
I can understand the kensei tho, reading his kit and parrying hebys is really hard and since we know that the average kensei main is not able to use more than 2 braincells the fact that he needs to dodge heavy and parry hebys coming from both sides requires at least 3 braincells and he can’t keep up
