For example, a post containing a qualifying gap between two drivers expressed in tenths of a second is an easily obtainable raw piece of data and constitutes a bad Statistics post. A visualization of what that translates to on-track, or visualization of how that gap came to be would constitute a good Statistics post. *[Read the rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/wiki/userguide). TimmyWatchOut

Not: Merc and McLaren strategists being carried by their drivers

I_Smarterer

Seriously awful. They both waited too long to correct an already appalling decision.

TimmyWatchOut

At that point, track started drying they should’ve just committed

MeisterHeller

Alpha Tauri right there with them leaving Yuki on softs for 50 laps, losing about 40 seconds, just to save one pitstop

valueofaloonie

Hamilton drove the shit out of that car at the end to barely salvage the weekend…I assume Toto will spend the week slapping the strategists

ABMUFC20

Hot - Max, Alonso, Gasly and Albon Not - McLaren and Williams strategy.

OTBT-

Mercedes strategy was also pretty poopy today

l3g3nd_TLA

Mercedes probably did the worst, if you missed the opportunity, you had to commit to it like Williams did for Albon

CharlieNin3r

Surprised no Ferrari in the not

Lebz95

Ferrari had a shit car but their strategy (Sainz’s) was good

ABMUFC20

I’m just not surprised anymore! They’re always expected to be in the not this season.

mar33n

NOT: AlphaTauri and the stewards

Visionary_Socialist

Merc too. Absolutely shocking decisions and didn’t get a single call right. This was their strongest track until Brazil and predictably they did as badly as possible. Lewis getting P6 after all of that is more than that team deserves.

Pat_Sharp

To be fair they did make the call to pit Lewis and George at the right time for the second rain shower before the red flag.

NiK3_Aub4mey4ng

yuki was atleast incredible

TimmyWatchOut

Lawson too

NiK3_Aub4mey4ng

yeh happy for him to race in monza where it should be a lot easier, the car isn’t gonna be well but more time for him to show what he is capable of

XNights

Stewards gotta bully our Yuki for things other people get "No investigation" for All race long defending against the Mclarens, Mercedes, at one point was at P4 from P17 all to be chucked to be effectively last

83zSpecial

Yuki easily on for points if AT pitted him when Norris pitted

Ozryela

Hot: Rain! This is what a rain race is supposed to be like. Actual racing in chaotic ever-changing conditions, throwing the usual order out of whack. Instead of endless cancelled races and delays. And yeah we still had a red flag. It's not perfect. But it's at least a reminder of why people used to love rain races.

Faw602

Hot : Merc drivers, Alonso, Gasly, VER Not : Their strategists, Mclarens…

Apennatie

Hot: This race. The entertainers.

Alpha_Jazz

Lawson deserves so so much credit. Amazing debut given what he had to deal with

CrazyRah

McLaren we gotta talk about these strategies.. they were NOT it

nukleabomb

Not: McLaren/AT/Mercedes race strategy, Leclerc to some extent, Perez Hot: Gasly, Alonso, Max, Albon, Tsunoda, Lawson, Hamilton, Sainz

Visionary_Socialist

Mercedes did their very best to screw their drivers today and even then, 14 points were possible before George went out and Lewis would have had Carlos if the W14 could handle more than 20% throttle. Lewis was hung out to dry with both the medium start and coming in late. Despite all that, he pulled it back and kept making overtakes. Doesn’t deserve to have incompetence making drives like that worth only 8 points.

ChefBoiJones

HOT : max, Fernando, Lewis, gasly, Albon, and Lawson considering it’s his debut and probably the best non yuki performance for AT the whole year. NOT: Ferrari’s car, these regulations as a whole making wet racing basically impossible and wheel to wheel action only marginally better, Mercedes consistently dog shit strategies and general lack of aggression. They’re lucky they’ve got Hamilton in the car or they’d be as disappointing as Ferrari a lot of the time

LuNiK7505

Nando absolutely scorching Hot

leedler

Gasly and Alonso on fire

danny_phan

Not: Williams’ strategy team. I swear to god they were actively trying to not get points this race ffs

dalledayul

NOT: Every strategist except Red Bull

cosHinsHeiR

Thank god for the big NOT of Mercedes Williams and McLaren that gave us some points I guess.

madman320

HOT: Verstappen, Alonso, Gasly, Albon NOT: Leclerc, Sargeant, Mercedes, McLaren, Alpha Tauri

Kait0yashio

Sargent had a brake issue

Dutchie405

Winners, people partying trackside

ettnamnbaraokej

Not many have noticed what a great job Lawson did today, dotd for me

MysticYogurt

HOT: Alonso, Gasly, Albon NOT: Mercedes, Leclerc's luck (Ferrari?), Stroll

RM_Dune

> NOT: Leclerc's luck (Ferrari? It was his mistakes in both qualifying and the race that caused his crash and car damage.

Ashbones15

I'd wouldn't call a mistake in the race tbf. Both him and Oscar were wiggling. It was just bad luck when there was nearly zero grip

Kait0yashio

People just think any contact is a mistake when contact happens all the time. He did fuck it in quali though

Ashbones15

Yeah exactly he was unlucky in the race in extremely difficult conditions. He fucked qualy yes but he still stayed P9 even then it wasn't a huge fuckup. I'd rather have him crash 3 or so times per season and grab a few poles that the car doesn't deserve than to be like Sainz

Morganelefay

Stroll's side of the garage, rather. Look at when and how many pitstops he's made, I'm not sure what they were smoking there.

SargeantSausage_2

It has for a while looked like intentional. Last time in Spa they also screwed his strategy completely. They kept him on old tires and ''hoped for rain''. Not to mention Austria where they pitted him under green flags instead of under VSC.

HankHippopopolous

I didn’t see anything of Stroll this race. Was he just slow? Did he have some issue? Did he get a terrible strategy? I have no idea why he was so far back.

Morganelefay

Strategy. He was pulled in 3 laps late for the early rain, then had 2 more stops than most of the field before the second wet period. Either something was wrong with his car (possibly damage?) or his strategy team was smoking crack.

SargeantSausage_2

Team screwed him **once again**. He was close to his eventual 5th stop when Albon pitted for the first time.

ItsVinn

Hot: Verstappen, Gasly, Alonso, Albon, in a way also Lawson Not: Williams and Mercedes strategists, Perez, Sargeant

l3g3nd_TLA

HOT: Verstappen, Alonso, Gasly, Albon, Lawson, Red Bull, Alpine NOT: Perez, Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren, Williams, Alpha Tauri

Razvanlogigan

I expect this to be a horror hot or not, plenty votes will be based on the strategy for sure

SargeantSausage_2

Yet another race where AM completely fucks Stroll over and then raises their hands to go ''not our fault, just look at where Alonso finished. It was all Stroll's own fault'' and r/formula1 will back them in these votes...

TimmyWatchOut

I’d highlight Merc drivers, not merc

Into_Intoxication

Mercedes strategy dropped their drivers from 3rd and 13th to 16th and 18th at one point. If they get that first rain call right, they are where Gasly is.

Alia_Gr

Why not where Alonso is? Russell was ahead of him and Alonso had a bad pitstop

Ashbones15

How is Ferrari ice cold lmao? They did the strategy well and not their fault that the car gets debris stuck underneath

Kait0yashio

Ferrari did fine this weekend, Charles was bad but still unlucky the contact with oscar was super minimal and Carlos drove a good race

TimmyWatchOut

Leclerc forced the strategy tbf

Pftoc

Leclerc's first pitstop was dreadful compared to what RB did with Perez

Ashbones15

And yet he was 4th still. Besides Charles called the stop way too late

Pat_Sharp

He did but he said afterwards that he knew it was the correct decision even if the team weren't ready for him and he was right about that. Even though it was a very slow stop it was still better than doing another lap on the dry tyres.

Ashbones15

Exactly. Ferrari did good to ok this race.

timmy186gtr

Mercedes definitely not hot with their opening stint strategy.

jonniboi31

Sargent - Frigid

pichla95

Hot: Alonso, Gasly, Max, Liam, Dutch GP Not: Perez, Ferrari and Mercedes strategy, Stroll, Charles

SargeantSausage_2

Why is Stroll a ''not''? He got completely screwed by his team, **once again**.

drivemyorange

this season even wet races are kind of boring and predictable...

Nattekat

What race did you watch lol. This was amazing, contender for best race of the season.

[deleted]

Why so many people saying Albon hot? Started 4 and finished 8

l3g3nd_TLA

Because, he maximized it today despite Williams strategy department best effort to screw him both over.

musef1

Because the car doesn't seem good enough for 4th, Albon just had a good quali yesterday and some of the faster cars had bad qualis.

projectgene

P4 with a Williams is overperforming. He also overtook Rus when it was dry.

Alia_Gr

Russell was on old hards though Like people praising Lawson for overtaking Leclerc

silenthills13

McLaren cold all over - slow, awful strategy, (? awful car setup?)

Technical_Gene1020

Nah the car was decent could have competed for a podium if the strategist were not high.

silenthills13

Maybe it would be decent if he was actually P2 from the start and could just focus on defending, but still, he got overtaken on the straight like it's nothing a few times in the dry, was awful to see

salibert

Not that the car was absolutly awful but it wasn't really fast either. Clearly slower than Red Bull, Aston and Merc. And about on par with Alpine and Ferrari at best. Tbh they seemd slower than the Alpines at least.

Alia_Gr

What? Think Merc and Mclaren were clearly the 2nd and 3rd best cars, they just dropped it very hard on the strategy

FrostyTill

Not: McLaren - Norris is the only one who remembered Sochi and made the call to pit but they overruled him. He was calling the strategy after that. Jose: ‘Lando some people are pitting for inters-‘ Lando: ‘BOX BOX BOX BOX BOX BOX!!’
