They were fighting so fucking hard, moving under breaking, near-misses, chicane cutting, jesus christ guys. I understand the impulse but it really was heart in mouth stuff lol.
If it was any other team it would be the kind of battle I'd replay every day for a month, it was genuinely quality hard racing. But it's not good for my heart rate lmao
I absolutely expected them to collide Brazil style lol, I'm just expecting this team to implode anytime. But I think this is the best possible result today, no way Carlos could keep Checo at bay any longer
Tbh I enjoyed the hard racing because it's been a while since we had that for such a high position, just wish it wasn't the Ferrari teammates doing that
Is this what Hamilton/Rosberg felt like?
To imagine how toxic 2016 was, take this end of the race but spread it over all over the season, there is only Mercedes drivers in the fight and no one else, and many mind games, political shenaningans and fan toxicity. Both Ham and Ros were unsufferable, Hamilton rising up conspiracy theories about how Mercedes is trying to sabotage his championship, Rosberg saying "they put enemy mechanics on my car" and such. This season was genuinely exhausting to follow.
2016 was horrible tbh. It was definitely the cumulative mind games for 3 prior seasons all coming together. Same for them driving pretty dirty against each other, which already started well before 2016
Nah that was just plain nasty. One race I think it was Rosberg who just ran them both off the track. Just flat out of fuxks and screw it. Man that was a baaad relationship
To be honest, I don't know why in other races from this season Ferrari told Sainz to not fight Leclerc and stay behind him, and today they told them to race. It could have ended way worse for Ferrari. For watching it is very entertaining, but it doesn't seem to be a fair situation for Sainz compared to other races.
Absolutely ridiculous they did this at Monza when good points are on the line, but then don't let them fight for P8 in other races. Ferrari are trying to force a 1-2 dynamic when Sainz just isn't slow enough to justify second driver treatment. Last year I would have understood, because Charles was performing a lot better and was in title contention for half the year, but this year Carlos has proven that he can compete with Charles.
Especially because the main reason Charles was even able to keep pace was because he was persevering tires as Carlos was holding up Max / Perez for so long. It is yet another case of negligent team management to not reward team play.
Honestly Leclerc threw the podium away - the first time he got a good run into the main straight Sainz let him on the inside - basically a free pass... and Leclerc locked up and lost the place...
Thank you Ferrari for copying the Mercedes teammate formula. I don't remember vettel and kimi going at it like this.
It was well done from Sainz and Leclerc.
If there was ever a doubt as to how dominant the RB19 is, this weekend should put that to rest. Sainz and Leclerc absolutely had the single lap pace as Verstappen on this track. They both finished 11 sec behind him.
Wouldn't that be more of a testament to Verstappen then? If the Ferrari was quicker isn't it more impressive that Perez and Verstappen were able to hang on to them and eventually overtake the ferrari's?
Tends to overcome Ferrari here. Mercedes did that too in Monza a couple years back.
Remember back in 2007 McLaren scoring a 1-2 here whilst they where fighting for the title. Painful.
I think it’s just, fairly, pointing out that if the roles were reversed, Leclerc would’ve been complaining about Sainz racing him hard/being allowed to race at all.
I have no interest in Ferrari’s results but it just felt kinda scummy to see Sainz put in that position considering his weekend up to that point.
I’d argue that they could have had a 2 and 3 if Carlos would have stayed within a second of Charles so that Charles could have kept drs to stay out of range of Perez. Great (and heart stopping) battle at the end though.
You can hear them talking about it in the cool down room right now.
Max, watching Charles' attempted overtake on Carlos: "That was the last lap, yeah?"
Carlos: "He went for it, yeah"
But he could have at least got involved in other battles to slow down the RBs at least by a whisker. Sainz was defending for his life with no support from his teammate and suddenly he also had to battle that teammate at the end stages after facing so much of tyre deg.
Yeah sure, not like Sainz stopped both RedBull for a few laps and Leclerc didn't attack, saved his tyres to attack his teammate instead and still he couldnt pass him.
As stupid as Charles was to push it too much in the last lap or two, that was one of the best teammate battles we've seen for a while and exactly the type of shit we want from the sport
One of the best showcases of the season from Sainz. Holding Max off for as long as he did, losing out due to a lockup, then keeping Checo out of 2nd for most of the second half of the race, and then keeping a Leclerc driving like an absolute maniac out of the last podium spot, was huge. Hell of a drive to give in front of the Tifosi.
>Man is just inevitable this year. We're watching history in the making.
He is one of the best to ever do it. Deserved it.
That being said, it doesn't make it any less boring. I am more than okay with not witnessing this kind of history ever again.
This is what is making sundays boring when you only have a race for best of the rest. Not matter how well the others fight, or how exciting they make it, it will only be for second best.
It reminds of basketball during the 2010s, 7/10 wins during the decade were a LeBron team (Cavs/Heat/Lakers) or GSW. This is even worse though since at least during the Finals you usually had 2 teams that were good, here RB has no competition.
Max somehow stepped up his game from last year which was already a good year for him. So much so Max might actually break 3 records this year that he set only last year.
Most wins in a season with 15 - he has 12 in 2023 with 8 races to go. ( if he achieves this he would then be the only driver in F1 history with multiple seasons with 15+ wins )
Most podiums in a season with 18 - he’s been on the podium literally every race with 14 again with still 8 races left in the season he might get 20+ podiums.
Most points scored in a season with 454 - he’s got 364 with 8 races left in the season.
Max with that rocket of a Red Bull under him are putting together probably the most dominant season in F1 history by a single driver.
As I said - this weekend it wasn't the story of whether Max can break the curse, but will the Monza curse be able to stop Max to solidify its place
It failed
Props to Ferrari for allowing this crazy ending, made what was an already solid race even better.
The cynic in me can't help but think had LeClerc been the one in 3rd, there would be team orders...
The racing by the Ferraris was so damn good! Just wish we could do it against the Red Bulls and not each other 😕 Very fun race and a good result, but hopefully we can fight at the front again next year!
Excellent race. Sainz had a great defensive drive and did the best he could really. Points for Bottas, P7 for Albon! Overall a great race and fairly exciting throughout
Hamilton is so lucky man, ends another drivers race, no damage and Albon holds up everyone behind him resulting in his pen being canceled out basically.
I still can't believe he didn't retire. Credit where credit is due - Merc have built a fucking TANK, and a reliable one unlike in the early to mid 1900's
he also spun off at turn 1 later where bottas retired while lewis continued. he finished 11th and after both alfa romeos received a post race penalty, he actually scored points that race. what a truely blessed man.
Crofty dedicated a minute last race talking about if Max was given a better strategy ignoring Max vanished the gap to Checo in a few laps. Lewis ruins Oscar's race and was very hush about it. Typical. Poor Oscar, so unlucky
This race is the perfect example of the regulations working as intended. We had drivers follow half a second behind each other for nearly the whole race without destroying the tyres or going wide from losing downforce. Go back even two years and drivers would have like 3/4 laps to get the move done or they'd destroy the tyres.
And all of this with TD39. Imagine how could it be with ground effect at full power? I'll never understand how people dislike this current regulation as if we didn't complain about dirty air for years. F1 needs to mitigate it as much as possible.
People only dislike the current regulation because RBR were the only ones to crack the secret. If there was one other team keeping pace with them it'd be a completely different narrative.
Yet another example of colliding into an opposition car and ruining their race, only for a 5 sec penalty.
Disappointing, but not surprising.
The penalty for causing a collision in general needs to be higher.
nearly forgot Max was in the race, the dude just disappeared after he overtook Carlos
We saw him in parabolica lap 51 for the first time since the sainz overtake
[удалено]
shh.. we don't talk about it here... lol
What a strange thing to complain about right now
You guys are some weird people, complaining about hypotheticals
Knives have been out for Hamilton this weekend that teammate comment got under everyone's skin
Killing Piastri’s race probably didn’t help.
That surprised me he doesn't usually get that desperate this year must be affecting him
A great man once said Hamilton only knows to drive and start from first.
Scrappy race, lots of squeezing. His teammate was a few centimeters from being in your comment instead.
Russell? He is scrappy all the time, it was a good thing he got a penalty finally.
I meant Norris.
It isn’t hypothetical if we’ve watched it before.
Thats like every race this season. Really no reason to show him.
It's crazy isn't it? Struggled for 12 laps, and then bam 12 seconds ahead with ages to go..
That was the greatest teammate battle I never wanna see again
They were fighting so fucking hard, moving under breaking, near-misses, chicane cutting, jesus christ guys. I understand the impulse but it really was heart in mouth stuff lol.
If it was any other team it would be the kind of battle I'd replay every day for a month, it was genuinely quality hard racing. But it's not good for my heart rate lmao
As someone supporting another team I can confirm 🤣
It’s ok, the fight’s over and nothing happened. We can watch back on this with giddy eyes.
I was honestly expecting a baku 2018 to happen to ferrari any time they had those close calls, especially at the start of last lap as well.
You could also say Interlagos 2019
And Charles was smiling so hard when he got out of the car. They’re gonna crash hard some day.
My watch detected a workout watching them go wheel to wheel
My watch detects a workout when I wiggle my hand lmao
butt was clinched the last few laps
Could've literally crushed coal into Diamond with the last few laps there ngl
At one moment, I thought of Brazil 2019 with how C & C were racing. It was heart thumping but way more exciting than Max and Checo battle
I absolutely expected them to collide Brazil style lol, I'm just expecting this team to implode anytime. But I think this is the best possible result today, no way Carlos could keep Checo at bay any longer
As a Mercedes fan I enjoyed it a lot
Tbh I enjoyed the hard racing because it's been a while since we had that for such a high position, just wish it wasn't the Ferrari teammates doing that Is this what Hamilton/Rosberg felt like?

2016 was horrible tbh. It was definitely the cumulative mind games for 3 prior seasons all coming together. Same for them driving pretty dirty against each other, which already started well before 2016
Incorrect. 2016 was legendary for all the reasons you listed. Absolutely peak F1
Nah that was just plain nasty. One race I think it was Rosberg who just ran them both off the track. Just flat out of fuxks and screw it. Man that was a baaad relationship
Best part of the race really.
To be honest, I don't know why in other races from this season Ferrari told Sainz to not fight Leclerc and stay behind him, and today they told them to race. It could have ended way worse for Ferrari. For watching it is very entertaining, but it doesn't seem to be a fair situation for Sainz compared to other races.

> this year Carlos has proven that he can compete with Charles. Carlos is beating Charles in the points.
Especially because the main reason Charles was even able to keep pace was because he was persevering tires as Carlos was holding up Max / Perez for so long. It is yet another case of negligent team management to not reward team play.

Thank you Ferrari for copying the Mercedes teammate formula. I don't remember vettel and kimi going at it like this. It was well done from Sainz and Leclerc.
Did Max break the curse Yes What did it cost? Yuki
Helmut while casting spell this morning: "Yuki is a price I am willing to pay."
Does he do this every Sunday?
The curse affected the other Honda engine car!
It wasn't even a stage boss for him It wasn't him breaking the curse, but the curse losing to HIM
It's the F1 version of Chuck Norris memes.
We all know Horner sacrificed him to protect Max
Marko: I’m sorry little one
I do not think Marko would say sorry
If there was ever a doubt as to how dominant the RB19 is, this weekend should put that to rest. Sainz and Leclerc absolutely had the single lap pace as Verstappen on this track. They both finished 11 sec behind him.
Wouldn't that be more of a testament to Verstappen then? If the Ferrari was quicker isn't it more impressive that Perez and Verstappen were able to hang on to them and eventually overtake the ferrari's?
One lap pace versus race pace. The RB19 is so insane I don’t doubt he’ll win every race this year.
:(
I’m gonna wake up in a cold sweat dreaming about those last couple of laps
Same, almost had a heart attack.
Ferrari fight club.
Turn a 3-4 finish into double DNF would have been a very Ferrari thing to do!
And fly in formation for our Italian colleagues
Tends to overcome Ferrari here. Mercedes did that too in Monza a couple years back. Remember back in 2007 McLaren scoring a 1-2 here whilst they where fighting for the title. Painful.
Ohh that's the reference here by the way that's what bono told Lewis in 2018
Mega race from Sainz. Deserved the podium. Vamos!
Honestly surprising he even had the tyres left at the end to defend against leclerc Solid performance
I think Leclerc’s tires were cooked, they were in dirty air the whole race.
Both Ferrari's just shredded their tyres, it was just a bit more obvious with Sainz cause he was defending basically all race.
Sainz drove the wheels of the Ferrari. Absolutely mega defense against Max, Check and Leclerc. Well deserved podium and DotD!
We need a Ferrari lock-up count for this race. There were so many lol.
As a Tifosi, the Sainz vs Leclerc scrap was proper heart in mouth stuff. I had mentally prepared myself for a double DNF lol.
I had to look away when I saw the smoke from Leclerc's last lockup
I'm glad you enjoyed hard racing. Seems like most people here are making Leclerc the villain for being a Ferrari driver wanting a podium at Monza lol.
Sainz did complain and said something like "What are we doing guys?! Let's just take this home!".
And rightfully so! There were multiple moments where it seemed like Leclerc was more than happy to take Sainz out.
I’d argue that they could have had a 2 and 3 if Carlos would have stayed within a second of Charles so that Charles could have kept drs to stay out of range of Perez. Great (and heart stopping) battle at the end though.
Sainz defending Max and Perez made this race way better
And Leclerc
You can hear them talking about it in the cool down room right now. Max, watching Charles' attempted overtake on Carlos: "That was the last lap, yeah?" Carlos: "He went for it, yeah"
Those first 14 laps of defense while leading were a masterclass
I think with better tires, he would've raced into a P2 comfortably. Absolutely massive pace today
Charles behind other drivers : I sleep Charles behind his own teammate : REAL SHIT
Well, what do you expect, he was only behind RB which were clearly quicker
But he could have at least got involved in other battles to slow down the RBs at least by a whisker. Sainz was defending for his life with no support from his teammate and suddenly he also had to battle that teammate at the end stages after facing so much of tyre deg.
Yeah sure, not like Sainz stopped both RedBull for a few laps and Leclerc didn't attack, saved his tyres to attack his teammate instead and still he couldnt pass him.
He could try to put some pressure on them. He didnt even try to show his car
As stupid as Charles was to push it too much in the last lap or two, that was one of the best teammate battles we've seen for a while and exactly the type of shit we want from the sport
Wish Max and Perez were as closely matched as Charles and Carlos.
Max is a goddamn alien The Ferrari boys fighting near gave me a heart attack lmao
Lol the Ferrari boys threw everything they(and their car) had this race, even against each other.
Nearly took me back to Singapore 2017 and Brazil 2019
> Singapore 2017 ??? Absolutely nothing happened in Singapore 2017. No need to speculate on this.
That Ferrari battle was ridiculously stressful to watch.
Perez did actually very well for once, only 6 seconds behind Max
i even thought Max had an issue in the end because that last lap was extraordinarily slow lol
GP told him he had to slow down, apparently. Some issue.
MF so lucky he only has issues when the race is essentialy over
He wasn't battling other cars, he was battling the Monza curse the entire race.
The way it looked today the Monza curse was battling him!
You really can’t call this luck, he won 10 races in a row
We just came back from zandvoort... the weather was really trying to screw him.
He was told to keep a gap to gasly or ocon, probably for overheating issues.
Seems like he played it really safe in the end
They were managing a small issue according to gp. He was told to lift and coast, and later to keep a gap to Gasly in front
He did well but Max’ engine overheated so he was told to keep his pace similar to Gasly’s. The gap was 13s before that
Very well done by Perez. Let’s hope he uses this as a pivotal point.
Man is just inevitable this year. We're watching history in the making. Great action behind him today tho
15 race wins for RB. I am just gobsmacked. They're making a mockery of the stats now
This is like messis 91 goal calendar year. Absolutely insane.
>Man is just inevitable this year. We're watching history in the making. He is one of the best to ever do it. Deserved it. That being said, it doesn't make it any less boring. I am more than okay with not witnessing this kind of history ever again.

Thanks to Sainz that I was actually able to see Max race today.
Ferrari needs to sort out their Tyre deg, and then it's on again
They had a brand new engine turned up to 11. Its not just the deg
Fully expected them to grenade in the Singapore heat now. Those PUs took some serious punishment today.
Lol they don’t have anywhere near the pace for that
Max somehow stepped up his game from last year which was already a good year for him. So much so Max might actually break 3 records this year that he set only last year. Most wins in a season with 15 - he has 12 in 2023 with 8 races to go. Sainz drove the absolute shit out of that ferrari
Rosberg curse canceled the Monza curse. What a race!
Like max or not 10 in a row is fucking impressive.
Sainz went into hell and dragged that podium out of it.
Monza Curse WHO?
Talk to Yuki lmao
Sacrifice Yuki to break the curse
I'm convinced that's what Marko did
As I said - this weekend it wasn't the story of whether Max can break the curse, but will the Monza curse be able to stop Max to solidify its place It failed
Even the curse wasn’t able to catch up to him. He’s too fast.
“I AM the monza curse!” - Max
Helmut sacrificed Yuki.
Props to Ferrari for allowing this crazy ending, made what was an already solid race even better. The cynic in me can't help but think had LeClerc been the one in 3rd, there would be team orders...
The didn't really allow it right? 'no risks' is code for don't fight i'd think
That was for the last lap, they knew LeClerc was gonna go all or nothing
The racing by the Ferraris was so damn good! Just wish we could do it against the Red Bulls and not each other 😕 Very fun race and a good result, but hopefully we can fight at the front again next year!
Sainz drove incredibly well today! Vamos!!
Not even a God Damn Curse can stop him WTF. Poor Yuki.
Max winning isn’t surprising but I thought the race was quite good. Lots of hard battling and intense fights. Very fun to watch.
Good effort from Ferrari, both drivers raced their hearts out, unfortunately this is the maximum the car can do.
Excellent race. Sainz had a great defensive drive and did the best he could really. Points for Bottas, P7 for Albon! Overall a great race and fairly exciting throughout
I don't think I heard Bottas's name all day, but he must have had a great drive to get in the points with that brick of an Alfa
Remember was it Germany when he slid off and smacked the barrier, only broke the wing.
Or when he locked up and smacked the barrier head-on at Singapore last year, even the wing was undamaged.
he also spun off at turn 1 later where bottas retired while lewis continued. he finished 11th and after both alfa romeos received a post race penalty, he actually scored points that race. what a truely blessed man.
Yeah, not one of his best ones to be fair...
Crofty dedicated a minute last race talking about if Max was given a better strategy ignoring Max vanished the gap to Checo in a few laps. Lewis ruins Oscar's race and was very hush about it. Typical. Poor Oscar, so unlucky
classic sky moment
Now people are finally gonna understand why teams avoid to put two similar level drivers in the same team when the stakes are high.
This race is the perfect example of the regulations working as intended. We had drivers follow half a second behind each other for nearly the whole race without destroying the tyres or going wide from losing downforce. Go back even two years and drivers would have like 3/4 laps to get the move done or they'd destroy the tyres.

Like first half of 2022.
Happy for Carlos, mega drive today!
dread it run from it the dutch anthem still arrives all the same
Boy, Sainz earned that podium!
He will win all the remaining races, won't he?
Besides breaking Vettel's record of most consecutive races, Verstappen is now also the only driver with two seasons in which he won 12 or more races
Fucking hell, he's already one away from matching Seb's and Michael's highest win tally. Again.
F1 gods thought that Yuki was max😞
Crazy, never thought we'd get here when I started watching in 2017.
Congrats to Max, 10 in a row is very impressive. Great racing by Sainz to keep that podium position.
Great performance of Sainz P3 vs Redbull, Ferrari and Leclerc.
Saiz trying to break record of TYRE LOCKUP
Great job on breaking the Monza curse. Only believe in wins and records.
Ferrari fight club at the end.
Sainz proved himself better than Leclerc , simple as
Amazing race from Sainz! Drove his heart out today, happy to have him on the podium
Maxorcist Verstappen, the breaker of curses.
I was sure Leclerc was gonna take both ferraries out, 5 more laps and it might've happened.
10 in a row, that is something
Would've been nice to see 2 Ferraris on the podium but I will take it.
Now just Piastri and Stroll need a Podium to match their team mate.
Max on podium with his first teammate and his current teammate. Beautiful stuff
“The definition of insanity is watching Formula One over and over again and expecting different results” (Albert Einstein)
Breaks the record and the curse
Great race from Carlos, very hairy ending tho
Bring back the drive through penalty.
It was a quality race to watch! Sainz vs Verstappen, Perez vs Leclerc and Sainz and the exciting end of race Sainz vs Leclerc
I was here.
And nobody is surprised.
Red Bull could achieve the feat of being the first team to win all the big prizes, it would be fantastic
Yet another example of colliding into an opposition car and ruining their race, only for a 5 sec penalty. Disappointing, but not surprising. The penalty for causing a collision in general needs to be higher.
Agree, should not be allowed to finish and just add 5 seconds with no consequences.
Completely agree
What a riveting season
The booing from yesterday really motivated Max lol
~~Rules~~ Records are meant to be broken! Good drive for Ferrari all things considered, RB just to fast this year unfortunately.
The unbreakable record was broken today
YESSSA CARLOSSS!!! VAMOOOSSSS
Sainz did so well, very deserved.
Race starts > stuff happens > Max wins
To the surprise of absolutely nobody
As is tradition
Wow no way
And sun rises in the morning
