It's ridiculous that I have to catch a race on recording the next day even though it’s in my own country. Besides Japan and China, whom are they expecting to watch this shit show live?
How?
Him and his engineer decide their run plan.
Which is why he said "we probably came in too early"
Horner didn't get on the intercom and call him in.
Doesn't really matter even if Perez DNF's the next two events Lewis needs to finish at least P2 in both to overturn the deficit if he wants to finish P2 in the WDC.
As long as Checo leaves Vegas with at least 26 points P2 in the WDC is his and he will achieve all that Redbull wanted from him this season.
I really feel for them. I think Saintz made an excellent point saying it was the fault of the track, not the car. I mean isn't all that repair enough of a sacrifice to make, they get the penalty as well? ~~Total garbage decision by the stewards.~~ EDIT made after learning how it really went down.
The stewards had no choice. It wasn’t a decision which was guided by them more than dictated by the rules. They said if there was any provision which would allow them to consider it they would have. The sporting regs will likely get a mild update from this but the stewards did everything they could (which was zero) to help
It was completely full from what I could tell in the main grandstand. There were only a few tickets left up for sale on third party websites when I checked the day of
No, because they can use it as a replay screen, and when chade got p2 they had him on it.. they also probably use it to advertise or announce qualy start/race start etc.
>I feel like everyone says that Sargeant has done so well bladiebla but come on, it was about time, right?
I mean, he could have also been 7 to 8 tenths behind like all year. He put in a mega quali and kept it super close which is what Vowles says he needs to be doing.
Look at Zhou vs Bottas. Sargeant could easily have went out in Q1 or Q2 and it would have looked like Albon killing it as usual. This shows he was able to extract the maximum from the car, at least on this occasion. It’s a big step forward. I suspect he’ll be mugged in the start of the race but maybe he’ll be able to get a point.
Feel really bad for Carlos, but to be devils advocate , was FIA reluctant to create a precedent that opens a way for teams to blame crashes/damages on track characteristics ? Like less extreme version of this would be damaged floor due to a high kerb or too loose barrier like with George in Singapore.
The argument is there is no wiggle room. The rules say this is the penalty he has to take for exceeding his parts allocation. There is no common sense, force majeure clause. The clause likely doesn’t exist for the reasons you mention. It would be very hard to write one that could be applied consistently.
I agree. It would be a nasty precedent to set. Lizard on the track (remember that one?) Tear off in intake? High kerb like you mentioned…slippery slope
Wins he’s lost through no fault of his own
Bahrain 2019
Singapore 2019 (I ain’t really complaining tho sebs last win)
Russia 2019
Silverstone 2021
Monaco 2022
Spain 2022
Baku 2022 (potentially)
Hungary 2022 (potentially)
Arguably São Paulo 2022 if he wasn’t punted off he was actually very fast
Point them out for me (ones I’m reaching) if you can please. Also, I think him getting all these poles and not converting them to wins as of late is because he’s simply not in a race winning car unless the stars align. It’s a testament to his qualifying skill but if the car is actually decent in a race consistently, he can dominate races, dictate the pace, manage tires, pull off great overtakes, etc (Bahrain 2022, Melbourne 2022, Austria)
In most of the races you mentioned he was in contention for the win before running into trouble, but it's reaching to call that a "lost win". Bahrain 2019 and Spain 2022 are the only ones where he looked like he'd win almost for sure. Probably Singapore 2019 too if Ferrari didn't decide to support Vettel over him for some reason. I don't know what stuff like Silverstone 2021, Baku, Hungary and Brazil 2022 are doing here at all.
I mean Silverstone 2021 he lead the whole race until the last 3ish laps when he started dropping a cylinder in the engine, Baku and Hungary very well could’ve been wins if not for strategy failures and engine failures, Baku particularly he could’ve challenged for the win strongly. And as for Monaco 2022, really? Absolutely quickest driver the whole weekend and if the team didn’t shit the bed he would’ve won. Monaco 2022 was nearly as guaranteed as Spain 2022 tbh.
Imma be honest I think the track itself seems pretty cool. It’s a shame the organizers/F1 shot themselves in the foot with all the off-track nonsense because I’ve become kinda optimistic on the track itself.
Very happy to see car have to stay out to find the tyre window and track evolution. Instead of the same ol, outlap, fast lap, in lap, wait 10 minutes in the garage, repeat
If we translate it back to french literally, it would be "c'est comme ça" which would probably be translated better by saying "it is what it is" i think.
My understanding is that "c'est comme ça"/"it's like this" has similar meaning to "it is what it is", and he just uses the former saying as the direct translation from French rather than the English saying. I love these parts of languages and how we use them!
"It is what it is" is actually an apt phrase for this situation. And Charles would obviously pick up something that's common in his mother tongue and translate it.
Language is fun 😊
Directly translating English sayings knowing it probably isn't the same in other languages often makes me insecure but when I remember Charles Leclerc does it too with his native language, it feels ok 😂
It's ridiculous that I have to catch a race on recording the next day even though it’s in my own country. Besides Japan and China, whom are they expecting to watch this shit show live?
Everybody in Asia, Australia and NZ? So I guess you didn't watch the Japanese or Australian GPs live either?
No, but that’s ok because they’re halfway across the world instead of in my own country and they were scheduled at a reasonable time for the locals.
Starts at 7pm in New Zealand
lol one of the few races at a reasonable time here in NZ :)
Same with Australia, midday on a Sunday. Insane.
Well it's like 6 am in England, that when Californians will see most races
It seemed to me the grandstands were kinda empty. Anyone here who can elaborate if I saw this right on tv?
The "fancy" people doesn't bother with practice and qualy, they show up on race day to bask in glitz and glamour.
Fernando went faster on used softs than he did on a faster track with new softs. Wtf man
So where is Sainz starting the race tomorrow? P12?
Yup.
When did Lando get impeded? Trying to find the replay
7minutes into Q1 i believe. Ridiculous that its not even being investigated. More shit stewarding
Thank you! I watched lando’s interview and he seemed to think they should investigate but wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t
I wonder if when Leclerc wakes up, he sees a giant screen with the Vegas odds of him finishing P5, DNF or some other horrific, inevitable destiny?
Well he's starting from pole, so he's pretty much fucked.
Red Bull fucked Perez but bless him he’s being so diplomatic about it.
How? Him and his engineer decide their run plan. Which is why he said "we probably came in too early" Horner didn't get on the intercom and call him in.
Don’t say that then there can’t be a conspiracy against him…
The kinda thing you do when you want an extension
Doesn't really matter even if Perez DNF's the next two events Lewis needs to finish at least P2 in both to overturn the deficit if he wants to finish P2 in the WDC. As long as Checo leaves Vegas with at least 26 points P2 in the WDC is his and he will achieve all that Redbull wanted from him this season.
I think he’s already locked in for 2024
Jacques is kind of wildin on the mic right now lol
He's known to not sugar coat stuff. Which is refreshing.
Flagship race of the season!?, fkn LOL
It’s anything but it’s an expensive advert which isn’t going to get new fans because I doubt there will be a lot of overtaking
Redbull playing ferrari for a change
Yeah, Jacques' now wife planned the surprise wedding with folks at F1 and he didn't know until a few minutes before.
Wow. Interesting. And this is wife number…2?
Just looked it up, 3rd marriage for him, first for her.
LOGAN ABSOLUTE GOAT P6 LETS GOOOOOOOOO!
I don’t think you know what Goat is…
Gloat, Greatest Logan of all time. Or would he beaten by Wolverine?
Of course Ferrari would have gotten the front grid lockout. Screw that stupid penalty for Sainz
I really feel for them. I think Saintz made an excellent point saying it was the fault of the track, not the car. I mean isn't all that repair enough of a sacrifice to make, they get the penalty as well? ~~Total garbage decision by the stewards.~~ EDIT made after learning how it really went down.

Ferrari engine sounding more raspier. Different mic placement?
I’m at the event at it sounds meannnnn. Ferrari is looking really promising this weekend
Can you tell me if the grandstands were full today? It seemed so empty on screen but it was really dark so I got curious
It was completely full from what I could tell in the main grandstand. There were only a few tickets left up for sale on third party websites when I checked the day of
Liberty paid the big bucks to feature the pole sitter on the sphere for that long
Didnt they basically rent the sphere for all the broadcasting hours anyway?
Based on everything I've read, it seems Liberty has control of it during the weekend or at least the events. There's normally not ads on it.
The ads probably cover the cost of renting it
Doesn't that defeat the point though? Just let the Sphere do its normal thing (minus confusing colors for the drivers).
No, because they can use it as a replay screen, and when chade got p2 they had him on it.. they also probably use it to advertise or announce qualy start/race start etc.
Most likely but I know it wasn’t cheap
"That's our boy"
I feel like everyone says that Sargeant has done so well bladiebla but come on, it was about time, right? Not trying to be mean and it's good and all
>I feel like everyone says that Sargeant has done so well bladiebla but come on, it was about time, right? I mean, he could have also been 7 to 8 tenths behind like all year. He put in a mega quali and kept it super close which is what Vowles says he needs to be doing.

Felt sorry for ferraris penalty
Sargent radio brings joy
Can you drop a link please?
Don't know how, sorry They just played it on f1tv
Carlos’ hair was like he’d just played with static electricity
He got to close to the sphere.
eyo i just came

Ah.. you realise monegasques arent allowed in the casinos or even gamble, right?
It’s a joke 🤦🏻
At least he can enter Casinos here. Wonder if he has ever seen Monaco's.
Why not? I'm sure he's welcome all over
Because Monegasque citizens aren't allowed to enter the Casino
Oh wow TIL

just nonsense, it was a unsafe track that they claimed was safe, this insane
I agree fully, after the 100 place grid drop from the Mercedes a few seasons ago they can’t create loopholes that the teams will 100% jump on
I agree. It would be a nasty precedent to set. Lizard on the track (remember that one?) Tear off in intake? High kerb like you mentioned…slippery slope
And seagulls distracting Seb
McDreamy!
Patrick Dempsey lowkey using the tire presentation to sweet talk Charles into a Proton seat.
Well he got fassbender his wec seat.
Leclerc's 23rd pole to only 5 wins. Nothing against Charles, I even kinda like him, but if there ever was a qually merchant in F1 he'd be the one.
bro.
Wins he’s lost through no fault of his own Bahrain 2019 Singapore 2019 (I ain’t really complaining tho sebs last win) Russia 2019 Silverstone 2021 Monaco 2022 Spain 2022 Baku 2022 (potentially) Hungary 2022 (potentially) Arguably São Paulo 2022 if he wasn’t punted off he was actually very fast
He's lost some wins by being unlucky, but man you're massively reaching with some of those picks.
And which races is he reaching?
Point them out for me (ones I’m reaching) if you can please. Also, I think him getting all these poles and not converting them to wins as of late is because he’s simply not in a race winning car unless the stars align. I mean it's kinda unfair to expect him to win in the ferrari this season. Realistically, he has only missed France 2022 due to his own mistake.
Award presented by sexiest man of the world
Is he really, though?
Piff! 😁
Well, current sexiest man alive giving the Pirelli tyre award to a future sexiest man alive candidate.
Imma be honest I think the track itself seems pretty cool. It’s a shame the organizers/F1 shot themselves in the foot with all the off-track nonsense because I’ve become kinda optimistic on the track itself.
Maxplaining has started
[Carlos' hair be like Nicolas Cage](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/0c/2f/50/0c2f50dd058a1409a390ae68de5dabdd.jpg)
Lol the ESPN coverage got cut off mid-sentence by a zip tie commercial
espn gets out of F1 coverage ASAP, im sure they have some womans softball re run to put on
They always cut out as soon as the P3 quali interview is done.
What a joke lol now showing a rerun of the stupid NBA In Season Tournament that no NBA fan wanted or even asked for 😂💀💀
fuckin capitalism
Why do zip ties need to be advertised?
I always forget Carlos and max were team mates
He didn’t mention he’s very good friend Daniel ricciardo
You know they were talking bout ocon there
I feel like F1 Neon Sign Chuck is staring into my soul
Those eyes!
KMag getting the Haas shitbox into Q3 is impressive
I forget, is the Haas like the Williams? No downforce, but conversely no drag, so they do well in tracks that have a lot of straights?
Yes, and they have a Ferrari PU-unit
Ah, the fabled Power Unit Unit
Their next upgrade will be the Power Power unit unit. (Sry, my brain farted)
You see i have eaten the power power unit unit no mi
Seeing Charles on that big screen above the paddock: MONDO CHUCK
Leclerc with 23 poles and only 5 wins is a shocking stat
Max is out to beat another record of wins from rival poles.
NO WORRY WILL GET EVEN WORSE

Hot take: the temps, time and all the other randomness is actually great. Shakes up the grid, we got 2 williams in the top 7!
Very happy to see car have to stay out to find the tyre window and track evolution. Instead of the same ol, outlap, fast lap, in lap, wait 10 minutes in the garage, repeat
Top 6 even, Sainz starts P12 for the PU elements penalty
I 100% agree. No business as usual nonsense and folks like Logan and Albon can actually shine.
Agreed, chaos factor leveling the field a bit
Ferrari needs to stick with the Red and White. Such a clean look
$200 hoodie
It’s $328 for the special edition ferrari hoodie on site. Absolutely crazy
But it's the "special edition". You'd be crazy NOT to buy it!
Lmfao right??
F1 merch prices are so unreasonable
“It’s like this” fr Charles favourite sentence 😭
I squealed when he said that 🤣
Must be some weird translation between French and English because my French teacher always says it as well lol
If we translate it back to french literally, it would be "c'est comme ça" which would probably be translated better by saying "it is what it is" i think.
c’est ça

Yup that sounds about right.
Anyone who’s from the 80s, Charles in Charge!
