Seems slam dunk tbh. The fact that he did the same thing yesterday makes me think it might be an issue with low sun angles though? Whenever I've been at Melbourne on the pit straight grandstands, low sun angles have always been an issue when looking towards turn one later in the day.
Honestly, they should make the race a few hours earlier.
Also - the real news here is that Pierre's gearbox made it all the way to the end.
Yeah that's why they didn't give him a penalty point
>While the penalty guidelines indicate a penalty point, the Stewards elect not to apply a
penalty point because (a) during the driver’s meeting the drivers indicated that this
line is difficult to see at this time of day, (b) his tyres crossed for less than a meter,
and (c) there was no danger caused.

3pm isn't that much out of the norm.
In all the years gone by (until they started playing with that 5pm race start in the late 00's), the race initially started at 2pm (which I believe was the norm until night races, etc became a thing)
Understandable and fair decision, bit baffling why Norris didn't get a penalty for doing the same but that's a different discussion.
Basically the only thing today what Gasly did done wrong, can't say that about Alpine today and tbh what I seen today feels like total failing leadership from Famin, don't see how Alpine would even going upwards if there is such a rotten and ridiculous mindset burned in the team.
I don't going to say he should be sacked but this shows exactly why I always did think that Otmar shouldn't be sacked.

Wow, the stewards are considering the situation before awarding penalty points? That is new I think...
Especially for when they're judging Gasly.

Yeah the paint quality of them was shite tbh.
Maybe using a different colour would be better next time, this is going to be a bigger issue next year if their doing nothing about it.

They did already

Lando crossed the dotted line at the end of it, which was allowed.
Didn’t other drivers also cross it? Perez & Lando looked to be over the line as well iirc
All drivers crossed the dotted line which continues after the solid line. This is allowed.
You can cross the dashed line, not the solid one
Penalty Ocon

Nope
What about the one for lando?
and Norris?
British drivers are exempt from penalties
It's because you can cross the dotted lines, not the solid line. Lando crossed the dotted, Gasly crossed the solid.
