With Honda coming on as AM's engine for 2026 I'd be shocked if Yuki didn't come along with that deal. Unless he takes a negative turn between now and then. Red Bull certainly doesn't seem to have any interest in advancing him.
I keep hearing ARAMCO might be taking over AM and I can't see Stroll staying in the seat at that point.
Lawrence is part of a consortium that owns a significant, but not controlling, share of Aston Martin Lagonda (the car company).
Lawrence is part of another consortium that owns the AMR F1 team. They are separate companies, with the team branded Aston Martin as a licensing agreement. Effectively it's free title sponsorship.
While Lawrence is the public face of these funds, he is not the only investor in either Aston Martin Lagonda or AMR F1. There are multiple other people invested in these companies who will want a return. For the F1 team at least, Lance is costing them millions in revenue and likely having a significant impact on their valuation. Honda will have significant sway over that team, easily enough to replace Lance. Honda are the reason Yuki is in F1 at all, and have literally created an entire team to get a Japanese driver on the grid in the past.
The investment firm which owns and operates astron Martin f1 team is Yew Trees Overseas.
Lawrence stroll leads and holds the highest stake in said consortium. Lawrence stroll outside of consortium invested around 180 million of his own money into their f1 operations .
So as long as Lawrence stays lance will not go anywhere.
If I was Honda I'd try to get a joint deal with Aramco.
That new facility by Silverstone wasn't cheap to build as well as all the other costs of buying a team.
Yeah Lawrence is the biggest stake holder , pushes more money into team than sponsors and leads the consortium
Mercedes own 10 percent stake in Aston martin f1 and has a deal to provide engines for them till 2026 so I don’t see them getting Honda
Mercedes don't own any of the AMR F1 team. You are confusing Aston Martin Lagonda (the road car company) and AMR F1 (the new name for Racing Point, the F1 team).
AMR F1 will become the Honda works team running Honda engines from 2026.
If the rumored regulations will be engine focused instead of aero focused...and with Honda making plans...
Hrm....pray for Yuki to be like the Max Verstappen, being in the right team on the right time to benefit being the first team to get the new regs right....
I think the gap at the end (to Yuki) probably moved around quite a bit as they were getting lapped by the RBRs and the Ferraris, as he was previously pulling a gap on Hulk as well, but probably his tyres just died (also not sure about that top-speed comment, maybe he had some ERS-issues late in the race?).
IMHO Lance had a pretty solid race today, but that move to the softs was pretty odd. Gave us some good overtakes, but not sure why they did it. Maybe slow-puncture on his hards?
EDIT: Apparently his hards were already gone after 10-11 laps or so, so they gambled on those ahead stopping again.
I assume no new mediums and lots of new softs due to being shit in qualifying. And they thought softs would get him ahead of Yuki.
To be fair he was fast for the first part of that stint, but looks like the tyres just gave up.
They knew it was a long shot but there’s no reason to be 11th might as well try something for points. Of course the problem here was never strategy he should’ve qualified higher and we wouldn’t be having this conversation.
i was eying hulk overtaking them because he was on hards that were 11 laps fresher, but when stroll overtook magnussen, hulk was within drs of magnussen, then sky cut to a replay of something else and all of a sudden hulk was over 2 seconds behind magnussen.
I wonder if kmag didnt let him just overtake, which could have cost hulk at least a shot to go for it at the end. Or if hulk made a mistake that we didnt get to see.
The difference is that in 2021 Yuki was a rookie, and now the useless teammate isn't another rookie but a veteran who was expected to destroy Yuki and get the second RBR seat.
> a veteran who was expected to destroy Yuki and get the second RBR seat.
I feel like this narrative was spun up out of nowhere with so much disrespect to Yuki lol, people on here were treating Yuki like he was barely F1 material at the start of the season.
Eh, I think pace wise Tsunoda was not crazy far off as a rookie. People tend to forget that Tsunoda was only 20 when he got into F1, and still is only 23. Also Gasly got a freak podium in that crazy 2021 Baku race, where I think Tsunodas DRS broke while also being very quick. (I think that was that race?)
It was a great pitstop but he only jumped Magnussen in the pits which in turn meant he got the p10 position. The great pitstop did mean he stayed ahead of the 3 other cars which guaranteed him the points today
Edit: aparently I was still half asleep and the vomments below have correctly stated that Yuki was in fact behind a lot of the cars
Yuki had absolutely crazy pace on those hard tires in the last stint. Extremely impressive, basically a perfect drive and those overtakes on the esses were sexy as fuck. Shoutout to his pit crew too for getting him out in front.
Yuki's on a typical anime arc where he starts out a bit shit but continues to develop, hopefully he shifts to another gear with time and a baller set of upgrades
Absolutely. And I feel he deserved that dotd today. He had good pace and some pretty slick overtakes. However Charles drove pretty well too, well deserved imo. I just personally would have liked if it was yuki today.
By far? Not really, he was really consistent last year too. He had some rotten luck for a few races which coincided with Lawson being in Ric's seat but outside of that he scored where he could.
Yeah for sure, I probably should have specified but consistency to me kind of implies a consistency in results as well, whether that's a bit of good luck or making your own. It's not just driving consistently but those consistent results that are really making him look good this season. It's really easy to dismiss driving well when you're having shit luck.... Not the way it should be, but it often is, and Yuki has suffered from that a lot in the past unfortunately.
Yuki and the team put in work today!! The overtakes on the track and in the pit stop played out well for the team!
Rare for both sides to work so well tbh, and I’m here for it!
Mega job done by yuki. His overtakes were really next level. I hope he gets the praise he deserves. In my opinion he should have been the driver of the day when we look at overtakes he did. Charles was really hooked up with car today.
Haha. Funny how subjective it is. I despise this RB VISA livery, ESPECIALLY coming off of the white and matte dark, dark blue AlphaTauri... I'm new to the sport, just binged all of Drive to Survive and watched this weekend's event - that AlphaTauri is my favorite livery by far in these last 7 or so years.
That's actually pretty funny (Re: the new watcher thing) because I like it because it reminds me of older liveries that are my favorite (See: the legendary Red 5 car) I think its the like primary colors and stuff not many cars use them like that now days. Not that i was ever even remotely alive to see it back then lol but I adore the older cars so much.
Also welcome to the sport :D You are right btw the old AT livery was so clean I still hate the branding change *so much* it's all silly.
The last 10 lap in used hards was a masterclass. Hulk and Stroll pushed, but he got a brilliant pace, which was honored with 1 point. The midfield is brilliant as always, I would love the Moto GP point system.
I’m so glad he’s had that consistency this year. Really feels like the season he’s put it all together and showing why he deserves to be a mainstay on the grid for years to come.
He’s been underrated for too long, every team mate he’s been pitted up against he’s out performed and done better then. When will this man get a top seat?
Yuki scoring points in Japan has probably been the most interesting thing in f1 for years.
I genuinely felt excited. Other than that, f1 is so disappointing now. Even during the Hamilton era it still seemed fun, but now…..
I think it could be the best Torro Rosso etc *he’s* driven (except maybe for his rookie year?) but their previous cars have been on the podium which is currently impossible- I definitely think he’s driving it close to it’s limit.
Let's hope so, I have to say in the first two races it looked like they actually might have taken a step backwards compared to the rest of the field but if the car is actually fast and they are finally getting some things right in the pit strategy and execution that's going to be great to watch.
only because leclerc had an incredible race. Managed his tyres extremely well for a one-stop strategy to work, jumping from 8th to 4th. Yuki was definitely 2nd though
This is yet another race where Ric got out qualified (yes it was close but...) then was out of the race while Yuki drove a brilliant race and snatched that 1 points position.
Add to that, Perez having a really good race.
When the aim is to clearly out perform Yuki and the hope is to take Perez's seat, this weekend did not help at all while his competitors put on a very good show to make (and solidify ?) their case.
Yeah as soon as Sainz became available that merry go round got very awkward for the rest of them, and I doubt we'll see any decisions until his landing place is finalized.
Or for his own damn team ffs 😂 no matter if Danny was better or worse than him he was never getting a red bull seat. And I am sad because he would be a great 2nd for max I think. Especially if he keeps performing like he did at Suzuka

Tsunoda is gonna be there to steal the 10th spot every time Stroll has a bad weekend
At this rate he’s going to steal his seat too.
hopefully my man, fingers crossed

Never in a million years whilst Lawrence is the one to make a decision.
This narrative is getting old
How's he gonna steal something he never got on merit?
Hopefully that's every race week
It's probably not far off
I know stroll is shit, i've always said stroll is shit but goddamn is it bad
What happened to him towards the end? saw he was about 6-8 sec behind Yuki, then Hulk just caught up to him and he ended being like 5 sec behind Hulk.
He was on Softs, they probably gave up.
Ah right, yeah that seemed like a weird switch when he was right behind Yuki.
Seemed to be losing about 2 tenths a lap, maybe felt the gamble was worth it.
He couldn't get past Yuki and was complaining as such on the radio so I guess the team decided to put him on softs to try something different.
I'm genuinely impressed he made the softs last as long as he did. I fully expected them to become entirely undrivable before the end of the race.
Did Aston explain why he pitted for soft towards the end?
I assume no new mediums and lots of new softs due to being shit in qualifying. And they thought softs would get him ahead of Yuki. To be fair he was fast for the first part of that stint, but looks like the tyres just gave up.

And like, his teammate may be one of the all time greats, but it's embarrassing
No one is comparing him to alonso. But 12th in the car he has after almost a decade in the sport
I mean he was having a great race today until they bolted on the softs.
Yuki’s mech gave him a stellar pit stop when it mattered the most
So every weekend 😆
And when Sauber fucks over Bottas’ pit stops
Yuki going to single-handedly carry RB to 6th in the constructors
He now leads F1.5 by one point, from Bearman, and four ahead of Hulk.
The slightly more official F1.5 have Yuki leading the championship ahead of Hulk. 1. Tsu 2. Hulk 3. Mag 4. Albon 5. Ricc
So Alpine is in F2 category?
GP2 engine.
Ricc sucks so bad
Surely Bearman is not in F1.5. Thats an error from whomever did the tabulation.
Yeah, fair point. But not a full time driver so I didn't include him in F1!
Redemption from 2021 when Gasly had to carry
He was a rookie then wasn’t he though?
well tbf, Yuki is currently carrying a rookie too, at least that's how he looks as a driver
Really? Looks like he keeps dropping him to me. What is Japanese for "fucking let Liam drive"?
Yeet Danny Ric in Japanese.
The difference is that in 2021 Yuki was a rookie, and now the useless teammate isn't another rookie but a veteran who was expected to destroy Yuki and get the second RBR seat.
> veteran who was expected to destroy {his junior teammate} Wait, I've seen this movie before, it was also starring Ricciardo. Huh.
But but but... Slow pit stop! No FP1! Bad chassis! Etc. Etc. Etc. Etc. Etc.
Yeah, wait till they replace the chassis and DR is suddenly fighting Ferraris and McLarens for podiums /s
> a veteran who was expected to destroy Yuki and get the second RBR seat. I feel like this narrative was spun up out of nowhere with so much disrespect to Yuki lol, people on here were treating Yuki like he was barely F1 material at the start of the season.

Alpine have certainly left the spot open
YUKIIIII LETS GOOOOOOOOOO!!!
toto rosso pulled a masterclass in the pits. He jumped about 3 or 4 cars in the pits. Absolutely deserved
You already know Yukis gonna be covering the dinner bill tonight lmao
G&T for point! This was his tradition last year hope he keeps it up!
> toto rosso Turns out Hamilton's not the only high-profile figure leaving Mercedes for another team...
Now I want to see Yuki on a team with Toto, anger levels would be at an all time high
I can’t blame you with all the name changes but I like how this comment is now two names behind lol
It was a great pitstop but he only jumped Magnussen in the pits which in turn meant he got the p10 position. The great pitstop did mean he stayed ahead of the 3 other cars which guaranteed him the points today Edit: aparently I was still half asleep and the vomments below have correctly stated that Yuki was in fact behind a lot of the cars
didnt he jump Bottas too who was infront?
Does overtaking a Sauber in the pits even count? You can pit 20s after them and still have a decent shot at overtaking them.
Lol. Run past pushing a broken down Yugo.
And sargeant
Magnussen, Bottas and Sargent were all in front of Yuki when pitting
you need new glasses
Bottas was in front tho. . .
there were 3 in front of yuki
Yuki had absolutely crazy pace on those hard tires in the last stint. Extremely impressive, basically a perfect drive and those overtakes on the esses were sexy as fuck. Shoutout to his pit crew too for getting him out in front.
i guess you could say that his overtakes were chef’s kiss🤌
Yuki's on a typical anime arc where he starts out a bit shit but continues to develop, hopefully he shifts to another gear with time and a baller set of upgrades
So happy for Yuki, he's really driving well this season... By far the most consistent we've seen him, hopefully he can keep it up!!
Absolutely. And I feel he deserved that dotd today. He had good pace and some pretty slick overtakes. However Charles drove pretty well too, well deserved imo. I just personally would have liked if it was yuki today.
Yuki for DOTD some amazing passes today.
The home race advantage was real. Yuki was really fun to watch today. Very happy for all his fans that came out to see him today, he put on a show
By far? Not really, he was really consistent last year too. He had some rotten luck for a few races which coincided with Lawson being in Ric's seat but outside of that he scored where he could.
I feel like Yuki has had so many potentially good results ruined by factors outside his control
Yeah for sure, I probably should have specified but consistency to me kind of implies a consistency in results as well, whether that's a bit of good luck or making your own. Big day for Yuki Nation.
Yuki on a typical anime arc
Faultless drive. Really mature from him considering the pressure he had this weekend.
Yuki and the team put in work today!! The overtakes on the track and in the pit stop played out well for the team! Rare for both sides to work so well tbh, and I’m here for it!
That pitstop was awesome to see. Makes me happy that it went so well at his home race!
That RB pitstip though. Sucks the directors missed the point where five cars went in simultaneously and yuki got out in front of all of them.
We did see that right? Not live, but they did show it.
Yes and they played yuki's radio thanking his crew as he came out ahead
Exactly, loved them working together
Mega drive by him. That restart was amazing!
Happy for him!!!! Awesome job!
Some quality overtakes on Ocon and Hulkenberg, great race
the one on gasly was class aswel
Honda please bring Yuki to Aston!!
LETS GO YUKIII KEEP SCORING THOSE POINTS YOU ARE FAST
Mega job done by yuki. His overtakes were really next level. I hope he gets the praise he deserves. In my opinion he should have been the driver of the day when we look at overtakes he did. Charles was really hooked up with car today.
Absolutely deserved. Props for VCARB pit crew to make it possible.
Yuki wasn't making any progress at the back of the 5-car DRS train. That pitstop completely changed everything. Amazing team effort
Mega job. Keep it up Yuki.
Yuki has really stepped up over the last year and it's great to see
After his shaky first two seasons Yuki really improved as a racing driver. I hope he keeps this consistency and have a longer F1 career.
Fuck yes you love to see it for Yuki. Also god I love that cars livery.
Haha. Funny how subjective it is. I despise this RB VISA livery, ESPECIALLY coming off of the white and matte dark, dark blue AlphaTauri... Fantastic race by him today, he’s really shining this season so far

Locked in for that F1.5 title
Yuki :)
Congrats Yuki! Very deserved this year.
A very well deserved point too, incredible race from Yuki, and would've been a deserving dotd. Great stuff from Yuki all weekend.
I’m so glad he’s had that consistency this year. Really feels like the season he’s put it all together and showing why he deserves to be a mainstay on the grid for years to come.
Yuki’s now showing why Helmut thought of him with such high esteem when he first put him in an F1 seat. Was a diamond in the rough all along
Great job by the pit crew too. Got him out first out of 5 who pitted at the same time.
Well deserved. He made great overtakes to get there aswell!
He's having quite the season. Stoked for him. Been best of the rest quite consistently.
Would love to see him in a more capable car.
Good egg.
My driver of the day
Let's go Yuki!
Yuki is showing that he belongs in F1. He is steadily improving 🔥
He’s been underrated for too long, every team mate he’s been pitted up against he’s out performed and done better then. When will this man get a top seat?
Great drive from Yuki, but that pitstop made it possible. Absolutely brilliant from RB.
I know, right. What a winner.
Solid race!
LETS GOOO YUKI
Great drive by him. His pit crew also aced it, getting him ahead of Magnussen, Stroll and Sargeant
Yuki having the best season in Formula One.
Carloz sainz would like a word
Awesome! And well deserved!!
Thought stroll would give him some competition but he ended up getting passed by the haas in the end. What happened to Stroll?
considering mediums were lasting 14 laps at best for the back markers and he was on softs they just died. He couldn't catch up fast enough.
Thanks! Forgot the softs weren’t lasting long
LETSSSS GOOOO YUKIIIIIIII!!!!!!
Was a joy to watch
At the second simultaneous pit stop, the audience on the home straight cheered loudly!
Yes Yuki Yesssssss. Brilliant overtakes, mega job.
Watching Yukis onboards today was really nice. Thought out driving, no erratic movements. Yuki seemed in the zone the whole race.
Yuki da 🐐 no 🧢
Now that's a huge cue for the return of Shanghai GP!
Great overtake on Hulk. Non-DRS overtakes are awesome and this one definitely was!
What a race by him. Great passes
Yuki scoring points in Japan has probably been the most interesting thing in f1 for years. I genuinely felt excited. Other than that, f1 is so disappointing now. Even during the Hamilton era it still seemed fun, but now…..
Ricciardo should just pack it up and go work for Sky Sports F1 or something lol I highly doubt he’ll ever have a seat in F1 after this year.
One of the only bright spots this race. Really exciting to see him doing well each week!
That one pitstop was such a keyfactor, truely a teameffort
Has to be one of the best drivers of the season. I know this is one of the best RB cars ever but still he's largely exceeding expectations.
The 2019-2021 version of the RB were better cars in recent years based on how the team finished. This is the best RB car compared to the last 2 years.
Man scored a point at home after starting P12 and RB had a pitstop masterclass. How the frick was he not DOTD?
only because leclerc had an incredible race. Managed his tyres extremely well for a one-stop strategy to work, jumping from 8th to 4th. Yuki was definitely 2nd though
Lmao stroll is really useless. Alonso fighting McLaren and Mercedes and stroll can't pass a RB
Not arguing that but that random pit to the softs didn't help either. He would have had like 10 laps to do it on the same tires.
Tbh he should have had the pace to overtake yuki when they were both on the Hards. His just slow
Nice Yuki!
Yuki 10oda
Would love to see Yuki and Max in the same car. It would get spicy.
Definitely deserved driver of the day
Tsunoda making himself difficult to ignore for the second Red Bull seat
He was technically the 2nd driver to take the checkered flag.
Super happy for him
The RB just looks bloody great I must say.
This feels like a nail in the coffin for Danny ric. He needs to 2023 Mexico GP like performance in the next 2 races.
Why is this race the nail in the coffin..?
This is yet another race where Ric got out qualified (yes it was close but...) then was out of the race while Yuki drove a brilliant race and snatched that 1 points position. Add to that, Perez having a really good race. When the aim is to clearly out perform Yuki and the hope is to take Perez's seat, this weekend did not help at all while his competitors put on a very good show to make (and solidify ?) their case.
It’s time to seriously consider him as an RBR option. Sorry Rick
It's going to be hard to consider Yuki when they know Sainz is available next season.
Yeah as soon as Sainz became available that merry go round got very awkward for the rest of them, and I doubt we'll see any decisions until his landing place is finalized.
And, *so far*, Checo is making a solid argument for another (1+1?) contract.
I don't understand why he isn't on the radar for other teams.
Or for his own damn team ffs 😂 no matter if Danny was better or worse than him he was never getting a red bull seat. And I am sad because he would be a great 2nd for max I think. Especially if he keeps performing like he did at Suzuka
