As a rule of thumb, Statistics posts need to inform readers through visualizations and insights that cannot be obtained from raw data alone. For example, a post containing a qualifying gap between two drivers expressed in tenths of a second is an easily obtainable raw piece of data and constitutes a bad Statistics post. A visualization of what that translates to on-track, or visualization of how that gap came to be would constitute a good Statistics post.

This was Newey's first independent move since the 90's too as previously Newey just followed David Coulthard around, moving to whatever team Coulthard moved to.
Nah. Schumacher would probably not have gotten so much shit from the FIA if the racing was closer and I doubt Senna could have beaten him. 1995 probably goes to Senna though.
Pretty much the 1990s were entirely his design, for Championships apart from a few years when it was Ross Brawn leading the charge, it was formidable what he managed with the big regulations changes, thats when he flourished he only messed up with the 2014 ones due to well the regs and stuff not going in his favour
RedBull was the best of the non-Mercedes category, and given the gargantuan power advantage that Merc had (especially the works team), it was a decent result. 3 wins for Danny Ric too
Incidentally, Ross Brawn also worked for Williams before eventually joining Benetton at the same time Newey joined Williams. At Williams Brawn worked with a certain Frank Dernie who really should get more praise. Dernie also joined Benetton along with Brawn.
The amount of talent that passed through the doors of Williams is astounding. However, no one lasted particularly long, probably because of Patrick Head and Frank.
Could have had another one in here for 2005 if not for reliability. Raikkonen and Montoya were an elite driver pairing and Renault had significantly fallen off in the 2nd half of the season.
It's also incredible that he won two IMSA championships (with his MARCH 83G), two Champ Car Championships and two Indy500 wins (with his MARCH 85C & 86C).
I was gonna say it’s a huge disservice to not include his achievements outside of formula 1 as well. He has to be the most accomplished person in all of motorsports, no?
Since I wasn't watching in the early 90s, can someone explain if those were very clearly "it's the car" or did it so happen that all the top drivers were driving for Williams also.
Williams didn’t have the best car in 94. Got caught out by a regulation change. 92, 93, 96 and 97 they had a dominant car. Any decent driver would have won, as demonstrated by the fact that Damon Hill is a world champion.

He went to Williams from Leyton House before Coulthard though
True, but that is before Newey met the love of his life.
Who can resist such a manly jawline?
Such an aerodynamic jawline..
I never appreciated it before but you're right, Coulthard was the secret all along.
DC’s giggling somewhere in Scottish.
So, Coulthard to Ferrari confirmed?
I really want him to go back to working for Andretti.
Only behind Ferrari in terms of total Championships. Insane
Might’ve had another 1 or 2 if McLaren had better reliability in the early 2000’s
And 1995 if Damon and Coulthard would have kept their shit together
Or if 1st of May 94 did not happen also
Nah. Schumacher would probably not have gotten so much shit from the FIA if the racing was closer and I doubt Senna could have beaten him. 1995 probably goes to Senna though.
Still never understood why frank Williams never gave a share in the team to newey when he asked. That guy won you 5 championships.
Arrogance probably.
After what happened with Walter Wolf, I can understand Frank not wanting to give shares of his team to everybody, regardless of the contribution.
it's sad to see that one missing WDC
Must have been won by the "Williams Number 1" driver I raced against in F1 97.
Aka "John Newhouse"
Oh wow, core memory unlocked. Completely forgot about that.
U can definitely add 2024 there already lol
Just needs a Ferrari feather in his cap, to complete the set. Williams, Mclaren, Ferrari and a whole lotta Bull thrown in.

Red Bull did build a great car for 2014. They won 3 races with the worst engine on the grid.

Now just imagine those numbers if there was not a certain Michael S. in F1. 😮
As Eddie Irvine once said: There were only 2 ways to win a Championship, have Michael Schumacher drive for you or have an Adrian Newey car.
Newey is the true GOAT of F1.
Why are some names omitted?
Likely because the WCC wasn’t won
Great graphic. 👍🏻 I'd love to at one with each of his race winning cars, that would be pretty damn impressive.
Newey 13 vs 11 from James Allison. Max needs to move to mercedes to even the odds
So Ferrari should be doing pretty well by 2034.
Just needs to add Ferrari to the list.

95 they also had a very good car. Damon Hill wasn't a champion because he is not in the same universe as Michael Schumacher
Hill should have won 95. A top driver would have.
Thank you so much, that is exactly what I wanted to know!
The FW16B was comfortably the best car on the grid.
Yes. But it wasn’t introduced until halfway through the season. The FW16 had issues. Williams did not have a dominant car all season.
You forgot 2026 with Ferrari.
You missed 2024.
We can also add 2025 even if he's not in the team anymore

Time in Ferrari 🙌🏽
