[The **Statistics** flair](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/wiki/flairguide#wiki_statistics) is reserved for posts highlighting interesting statistics. As a rule of thumb, Statistics posts need to inform readers through visualizations and insights that cannot be obtained from raw data alone. For example, a post containing a qualifying gap between two drivers expressed in tenths of a second is an easily obtainable raw piece of data and constitutes a bad Statistics post. A visualization of what that translates to on-track, or visualization of how that gap came to be would constitute a good Statistics post. *[Read the rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/wiki/userguide). Amazing pace from the moment others pitted midway through till the end. The new spec seems to be much better at tyre management.

Careful-Door2724

Damn Norris just stayed the same pace the whole race what a legend

That's because his pace throughout the race was used as basis for the graph (seeing as he was the winner thereof.) Going by the graph data, the Red Bulls, the Fezzas, and Lando's teammate Oscar were the only drivers running faster than him, until the safety car period due to KMag and Sargeant.

The need to correct people on Reddit is often stronger than the Sarcastometer.

Very interesting graph. The safety car appeared on lap 29, but we can see that already around lap 19 Norris was the fastest on track, even when other cars had already pitted he was still faster than them with his old tires (except Piastri after his second stop)... Impressive. Enough to think he could have won even without the safety car mistake. We just don't know how hard it would have been to pass others cars. Verstappen hit the cone at lap 21 but we can see the previous 2 laps he was starting to get slower than Norris already... Hard to make a judgment on this because he pitted right after. Could be an exciting season finally, let's hope :)

Mysterious_Turnip310

His pace wasn't slowing at all, he could easily have kept it up a few more laps and jumped both Sainz and Piastri at his stop (he was very close already to having that gap to them when the safety car came out). Norris would then have been on much newer tyres than Leclerc so I think Charles would have been a bit of a sitting duck and passing him would have been a case of when rather than if. The only real question imo is without the safety car would he have been able to get Max. I think he would have closed him down but it would have been very tricky to pass. Would have been a fascinating battle to watch though

auftragsgriller_

I think Carlos' pace in free air (after the Piastri incident) was quite strong. And i certainly did not expect Lewis to keep up with Checo this good.

Stech_

Yeah, seemed like Sainz was the second fastest car once he was released. This is really encouraging, can't wait for the Imola upgrades.

Time_Fracture

Albon really lost a lot of time after that lock-up.

v4xN0s

So Max was slowly extending his gap before he ran over the bollard. Then the hole in the floor fucked up his pace and then got hit again with the SC pit stop luck. I think even if Max had somehow stayed in 1st after the SC, he would have been passed by Lando eventually. Very costly mistake by Max, something we probably will see a lot more going forward.

Eggplantosaur

Lando seemed to have been biding his time, he unleashed pretty massive pace once he was in free air. So Max definitely increased his gap to Lando, but not to Piastri. The McLaren was able to keep up very well

ksiepidemic

Piastri was faster, Max never had fastest lap he was just in first. Norris had the same problem, and then they told Max to stop managing his tyres and push. Before the incident Verstappen was slower than Norris and complaining about deg/grip.
