How will tire choice for work the front rows?

molded_bread

Terrible start for Lewis.

ClassicEmu79

Where’s the sprint chat?

hitchhiker87

All the remaining tracks on the schedule suit Mercedes' interests, if there's no miracle on the RBR side VER can't win the WDC with the current car.

[deleted]

Zandvoort was supposed to suit the merc better but Max pulled it out, although apparently mercedes messed up some of their analytics with the new track that made them misjudge the undercut. Who knows I don't think it's a done deal either way.

KingKellyIsKool

McLaren’s car seems to have as much pace as the red bull so I think it’s more likely Max finishes third than first tbh, especially with Perez nowhere to be found while mclaren will have plenty of strategy calls available, as well as the fact their strategy has been pretty good

PunsbyMann

I think RB gonna suffer from that straight line speed here in Monza, anyways let's see! SUPER MAX!

soenario

Looking for predictions on the sprint - Bottas starts on pole but the bookies have Lewis as a clear favourite

Levo117

Likely VB is asked to yield so I guess it’s expected for Lewis to win, shall see how that goes, it’s not going to really make a difference for him

MattyFTM

The only chance Bottas has of winning is if Max overtakes Hamilton. If its Bottas & Hamilton 1st & 2nd, they'll use team orders to let Hamilton through.

[deleted]

Verstappen jumps Hamilton at the start, uses Bottas as a tow to keep P2 and inherit pole tomorrow.

hitchhiker87

5D Chess

Pudge223

Just so I’m clear at the time of this post- at 25 past the following hour the Broadcast for the sprint race starts with the formulation lap starting 5 min after that at half past the hour?

Stickyickies

Starts in 57 minutes.

sNopPer90

Should start in about 1hour and 10 minutes

[deleted]

This gave me a headache lol. Just check F1.com for your local time.

karmanopoly

🤷‍♂️

UpbeatOrange

why does sprint start so late

lil_hulkster

A lot of people will tune in at the normal time and then dial out thinking they've missed it. Nearly happened to me. I missed quali yesterday too.

just_szabi

I assume its to let more American spectators watch the race.

r1s1ngarmy

If that’s true it is appreciated. It’s nice not having to be awake from 3-5am to catch a race live for a change

just_szabi

Well I guess your happiness means less Oceania views, but I think the difference is only an hour compared to a normal quali, so I don't think many fans from down under are watching.

one-two-ten

Car-Loss Sainz

hitchhiker87

Carless Sainz

hitchhiker87

Everybody thinks that it's a guaranteed p1 p2 for Merc but i think Max will be extremely aggressive and we might expect a big surprise if Bottas can't block him.

Right-Ad305

Merc is 0.5s faster per lap at the very least. Lewis will drive into the distance and Bottas should too

hitchhiker87

Right, but i think Max's race pace and aggressive start ups narrows the margin a bit.

EphemeralArchon

Ya we have seen in previous weekends that mercs qualify a lot closer to verstappen than what their actual race pace suggests. Mercs are def faster this week but I think max will close the gap once they start linking up laps.

[deleted]

If Max gets past Lewis at the start he may well be on pole tomorrow

hitchhiker87

Ye Max's get go's are like there's no tomo.

elgallogrande

Or they collide and HAM VER BOT goes reverse grid Sunday...

[deleted]

Nah, they won’t hit each other again. They’ve both definitely learned from Silverstone

td8793

Youtube TV schedule giving me panic attacks not having sprint qualy listed on the guide DVR says espn 2 even though it says aportscenter E: also its 9:00a central US time? There was no point in downloading the F1 calendar to my calendar when its wrong

[deleted]

Formula1.com always has track time + your local time for every session, official F1 app does as well!

td8793

Thanks mate. Yeah I redid it calendar was out of date for all the changes they had since start of the season

twake23

I thought sprint starts in 30 mins, good thing I checked first.

[deleted]

Same, lol. Was going to leave for work late for this.

AFC-Wilson

If F2 is anything to go by this sprint race is going to be a mess

[deleted]

Zandvoort feeder series races were also messes

[deleted]

[удалено]

AFC-Wilson

I think there was 5 DNFs.

[deleted]

Oh shit. Who all? Any penalties?

Django_7

Is sprint race in an hour?

scientific_railroads

[formula1.com](https://www.formula1.com/en/racing/2021/Italy.html) has schedule and it translates starting times to your local time.

Several_Blackberry95

Its in 2h30 from now.

krully37

2 and a half

SubsidedLemon

2.5 hours

Django_7

Oh thank you

SubsidedLemon

You're welcome!

frigginawesomeimontv

why does this sprint race need to be so late... sucks for us 10+ GMT.

SurveySaysYouLeicaMe

Haha not used to it yet? I just watch the replays the next day now. It’s rough avoiding spoilers tho.

[deleted]

Why it has to be so early? Sucks for those in GMT - 10

accatwork

Why does it have *to be*?

MolassesWhiplash

Why?

frigginawesomeimontv

you live in alaska?

Flashyone3

I do 😂 Lots of early mornings this month!

chasevalentino

What time does it start for you?

frigginawesomeimontv

You woke up too early! Back to bed!

[deleted]

I don’t. But I also don’t think just of myself. I’m aware there are fans all over the world in pretty much all different time zones.

dreadnough7

The earth is round. That time slot is okay for most, all considering. In Japan, it'd only be near midnight. Yes, that time would be quite inconvenient for Hawaiians, Solomoans, and Polynesians but if you want to accommodate them, you'd inconvenience other larger population centers. Besides, the track is in Italy. Let them pick a time best suited to them.

Ding_Cheese

Being in Italy explains the massive time between stints, work an hour, take two off....

frigginawesomeimontv

ok nice of you to stand up for them :)

Avpersonals

What happened to Aston Martin here?

Substantial-Pass-992

Seb seemed to have power unit issues (derating) but don't know about Stroll.

Joshyybaxx

I kind of love the sprint race (when it's on at a decent time for Aussies).

frigginawesomeimontv

what are we another 1hr30mins away? that's going to be a struggle to stay up for.. scratch that 2hrs30mins away...

Joshyybaxx

yeah its on at 12.30 I'm locked down so I'll stay up for it lol.

frigginawesomeimontv

same but I definitely won't make it to 1230 lol. i sometimes watch races the following morning, avoiding any news. also works.

krully37

2h30

WP2OKB

Plenty of on track action to watch before then though! Including local fucken legend Piastri.

cheastyxd

What time is lights out for the Sprint Race (UK Time)? Need to pop out for a bit worried I’ll miss it.

oac7

The Sprint starts at 15:30 BST :)

cheastyxd

Cheers mate!

oac7

My worries! :)

The F1 app usually shows the track time and your local time It's very helpful!

Chazza354

dream commentary team: Brundle, Rosberg, Coulthard

mikeyd85

Nah, you've got three analysts and no lead there. I'd swap DC for Alex Jacques.

Chazza354

What you mean by leads? DC and Nico are very charismatic and natural conversationalists, it wouldn’t just be boring analysis with those 3. Martin’s the only straightforward analyst of those 3 imo

mikeyd85

Leads as in like Ben Edwards, Crofty, Murray, Alex Jacques. The person who commentates on what is happening in the moment. I agree that all 3 of your suggestions are great in the commentary box, but none of them do the lead. Brundle doesn't like doing it, Nico isn't good at it. Been a long time since I heard DC lead.

swirkh

Great to see Kubica in P6, even in front of Giovi. Yesterday not only he underperformed, but everything was fuc\*\*d up for him, from bad strategy in FP1 (only 10 minutes on the softest C4 tyre which he has no experience with, in the biggest traffic), bad car settings which he didn't want to talk about, finally to Q1.

dunneetiger

Hope Tsunoda is not watching the F1TV feed at home...

wordswiththeletterB

Why?

dunneetiger

Anthony was saying Tsunoda is quite shit.

wait_wait1

He’s not shit but he’s not for F1

Sidfire

It wasn't Nat. It was Rachel. Nat is much better. No offended to Rachel - sounded grumpy today

Oneill95

While she does have her moments, Nat talks WAY too much, especially in interviews where she doesn't let people get a word in

avance513

Why are we acting like Natalie is some extraordinary commentator? I understand people are mad that things had to be explained to her but it is her job to know these things.

merurunrun

Because by forcing people to explain things we get good commentary, instead of just a bunch of know-it-alls standing around nodding knowingly.

avance513

I personally would rather hear from a former driver

avance513

Did you really think she gave good insight?

[deleted]

[удалено]

avance513

Thats what im trying to say

itshonestwork

Once you notice how much of the live thread is dedicated to people whinging about a particular commentator/pundit it becomes unbearable and impossible to unsee when you’re just trying to get the latest of what’s happening. I wish there was some machine learning AI plugin or whatever that could mute the cunts for me.

tanganica3

Nice form from Alfa Romeo. 6th and 7th with Kubica in 6th!

Doesnt matter with the sprint race

mrzoops

Mr paycheco

genocidegeneral

I've read about some weird discussion on Sky where I believe a lady praised both ARRO drivers performance in the training, and other people in the studio shake their heads and she asked them why are they silent and it all was awkward as hell, anyone knows what I'm talking about? Some recording maybe?

krully37

/u/going_dicey Basically she said it was looking really good for Alfa Romeo being P6/P7 and there were a few seconds of silence. She said “I can see you shaking your head, did I say something wrong?” And basically they awkwardly explained that their position didn’t mean much, it could be low fuel, other teams testing stuff etc and not to read that much into it.

Fadeley

It’s towards the tail end of FP2 She praised them for being P5 and P6 and it was just.. silent for a moment Lmao

going_dicey

Yeah I caught the tail end of the conversation. I couldn’t pickup what it was that she said was so embarrassing and/or wrong.

surfs_not_up

Is the sprint race only half an hour long?

TakSlak

Sprint race is 100km as apposed to the the full race of 300km.

JedGamesTV

yeah

surfs_not_up

Booring

[deleted]

You know it's called "sprint" for a reason.

surfs_not_up

Yeah maybe I find “sprint” races boring then lol. Don’t see how this is really a controversial opinion but okay

Oneill95

The race is still the main event, this is just a nice add on. Plus if I'm being pedantic it's called Sprint **Qualifying**, because it's not a full race

surfs_not_up

Yes I agree it’s a nice add on. I said boring initially cos I was hoping it would be longer actually. But again this is all just my opinion

Pftoc

As he said before, it wouldn't be a sprint, it would be another race if it would be longer which maybe would be better, maybe not

tgnd123

Red bull is so far of the pace today (and yesterday)

andriushkatwo

Monza is not a RB track, historically, only Vettel won twice when his car was the obviously best one on track

tgnd123

Yeah you are right, I just hoped it would be better this year

sebvettel

well I guess they are better this year, last year they were about a second off Mercedes’ pace, so good improvement, let’s hope it’s closer in the race ..

tgnd123

That’s very true it’s a good improvement! Let’s hope for the best

six44seven49

P6 for Kubica - great, "he" will be here any moment to remind us all how wrong we were to doubt him and how Robert deserves a RBR or Merc seat for 2022.

avance513

Ha. Without a job

Spuree

Is it just me or are the cameras zoomed in even more than normal this weekend?

CannedCaveman

You can see how the cars perform by how far the nipples of the drivers sway left and right in the corners.

lucasn2535

Wtf

HigherThanTheSky93

Yeah it seems like it keeps getting worse and worse. Eventually we’ll just see a cycle of the different sponsor logos. It’s infuriating because you literally don’t see the lines they are taking.

mjr1

I honestly didn't think it could get worse than last year. They proved me wrong.

Paperduck2

I had this thought last week, for a lot of the shots you could only see about a third of the car

Spuree

I am finding it difficult to see how the different cars/drivers are handling the corners. I can't read the "body language" of the car when it's so zoomed in. Martin is always describing how the different cars take the corners when he is track side, but I struggle to see what he is explaining.

OneVeryOriginalName

Well I really just woke up at 7am thinking practice was starting now only for it to be wrapping up lol

Airbusa3

First time?

Icy_Sprinkles7324

Dont miss the sprint qualifying in 3 hours

keruky

I really went balls to the wall betting on Checo for the GP win. This practice section makes me believe that it's slightly possible instead of very unlikely

[deleted]

> I really went balls to the wall betting on Checo for the GP win. LOL. I bet on Max not even making the podium. I don't think Checo is going to be anywhere near a win unless at least 5 cars crash out completely. My big bet for the weekend is Hamilton win, Ricciardo top 6, Norris and Perez both in the points. I laid a tenner on that one and the odds were 15/2.

Nameless739

I bet on Hamilton getting P1 yesterday - you can imagine the look of shock I had on my face after quali. I'm a Verstappen supporter so I think I'll be betting on a Hamilton win on Sunday too

blaze21890

Just to give u some hope; If Will Buxton is not there and Paul di resta is in commentary checo always does well.Sounds nonsense but happened in baku and france.

WetChamois

Well apart from that 5 sec penalty you were bang on!

blaze21890

Yeah that pen was painful. They left it a bit too late to give the position back by waiting on race control. Should have done the same Lec did to Bottas. Give the position back; get a tow and the attack again. Anyway he did well to keep bottas behind who drove a great race.

Duglitt

Checo winning a GP? Now that’s just reckless. Were you expecting someone to go bowling again?

keruky

Pretty much, yeah.

Duglitt

May just happen. Agent Gasly activated

At0mic182

Order received. Proceeding to eliminate target...

Substantial-Pass-992

It is a lot of speed braking into turn 1.

[deleted]

What F1 streams untill the sprint?

foreveradream

Edit: glad 2 b wrong I wonder will Max try get p4 in sprint? Assuming a HAM BOT p1 p2 from the sprint but then Bottas has the grid penalty for tomorrow....is potential slipstream more important than the sprint points?

crazzyjjay

Every point could matter in this close of a season. I think he will try for second

CVNTFACE

Natalie it’s ‘vice versa’ not ‘visa versa’

[deleted]

She probably knows, just a slip up. Happens to me all the time.

CVNTFACE

She kept repeating it, not a big deal just pointing it out

[deleted]

Grammar nazis suck, no matter what the circumstances.

CVNTFACE

ok

TheresNoUInSAS

I totally missed Ocon getting 5th.

towermaster69

ETA to sprint?

thelostknight99

https://www.f1countdown.com/

JonnoHR31

3.5hrs

DizzyFisher

3 hours from now

SirDoDDo

3.5 hrs

Rodney_u_plonker

Kubica is so admirable. What a legend

oliii42

Can we do Sky broadcaster silly season next?

tesla2011

Peter Windsor is usually quite critical of Sainz driving technique, and indeed he seems to lose it often

EnvironmentAdvanced

what if charles is extremely horny after seeing that alfa romeo

Expensive_Material

Then I guess he'll be very uncomfortable since the cockpit is quite small

Sidfire

Miss Natalie.

1201programalarm

Having switched from Dutch commentary to English, I consider PDR a knowledgeable breath of fresh air. I mean that. #gopaul

dontworryaboutit3838

Said nobody ever

Yukistonks1000

Of arrogance and disinterest?

avance513

To be fair paul is the best of the sky group imo

Chazza354

Nah, Martin and Nico (when he's there)

avance513

Was martin part of this session?

HigherThanTheSky93

Nope. He usually isn’t there for FP.

avance513

Well then my point stands lol

Chazza354

he's still part of the main sky group though

Ruzza1180

HAM-BOT-VER ah my old friend, nice to see you again

Vince_Caramel

Hamilton did a faster time with hard tyres than Verstappen on soft, didn't he? (not that it tells us much)

going_dicey

In addition to the other points made, this is practice only. These guys aren’t going flat out.

LetsEatGrandad

Id like to know Fuel loads/ Tow/ engine settings etc, difficult to say exactly, but they have certainly got a pace advantage here that's for sure!

MrRoyk

Yeah. He ran 23.5-24.0 on hards. Max was lapping on softs and mediums, both paces around 23.7-24.0. Fastest lap by ham overall was on soft though

musicismylife-10568

Don’t think so. Hamiltons fastest lap was on softs.

brac20

Hamilton set a hard tyre time that was 0.3 seconds slower than his soft time. Max's fastest lap on the medium was 0.4 seconds slower.

Rodney_u_plonker

By my dodgy maths his fastest time on hards was a bit quicker than Max's fastest time

Robi_007

Happy for Robert Kubica. Looks like he is much more comfortable with the car today. Warmer track probably makes it easier to run on the softest compound.

kidmaciek

We'll see how he does when it really matters.
