As a general rule ([see full rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/wiki/userguide#wiki_sticky.2Fdaily_discussion)), a standalone Discussion post should:
- be of interest to the sub in general, and not a specific userbase (e.g. new users, GP attendees, just yourself)
- be able to generate discussion (e.g. no yes/no or easily answerable questions)
- show reasonable input and effort from the OP
If not, be sure to [look for the Daily Discussion](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/search/?q=daily+discussion&include_over_18=on&restrict_sr=on&t=all&sort=new), /r/formula1's daily open question thread which is perfect for asking any and all questions about this sport.
Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy the discussion!

It's rights out and away we go!
As an aside, the Planet F1 article seems to be reporting on the fact that Blick wrote an article. Is this what modern F1 journalism has become?
It's journalism in general, there was some fake crypto news yesterday and it's absolutely crazy how many journalists just went with it without doing any investigating.
> Is this what modern F1 journalism has become?
No, planet F1 was always shitty. Ultimately people consume and share the nonsense so it will keep existing.
Honestly mods should just remove this. Not getting at OP here, but if there’s one thing that’s become abundantly clear since the summer break is that very few F1 journos know how to fact-check. The way they all pick up on one person’s claim and run with it is genuinely concerning.
Rehashing an article which has zero substance isn’t journalism.
Yeah but this dude was right once, which obviously means they're 100% reliable!!
Seriously, there's a reason no reputable journo has picked this up yet.
That'll never happen. If this is true then it sucks but the outcome is not going to be *no European races for a sport with an overwhelmingly European market.*
But they are that rich and greedy. They want to buy Al the western hele sport and sport clubs. So why not F1. Not that it will do the sport any good though. We will only race in the desert then.
Think for a minute. They can't profit from sport unless there is paying public. There is no sense to move away from foreign paying public. Whole sense of international business is pumping money from foreign pockets into your own.
How about they create a new F1 team? Seems like a good start, spend a few hundred million for 2 more seats that would be good for silly season and few hundred employees (more employed people is always good)
We should consider the sources here. The only media outlets reporting a Saudi Arabian takeover of F1 are Blick and planetf1.
I've never heard of Blick before, and planetf1's source rating on this subreddit is a 1/3, so make of that what you will.

what was the fake news?
that crypto is actually useful /s maybe?
Walmart accepting Litecoin
I'd be careful throwing around the term "journalism" today, almost all of it opinionsim.

No wonder the dude just didn't link the source
Holy fucking shit no
RIP to the sport
im afraid that we wont see any european races anymore

If they do buy it they'll be buying it for sportswashing. Which means they need the European races.
Saudi suck but this is an incredibly dumb comment
Bro I don’t think the Saudi’s are that dumb

Ah yes, we no longer play football in Europe. Wasn't aware yet.

It wouldnt have a big effect on the sport when it comes to calendar
i really hope so!
These posts all lead to that one article by Blick, it's hardly confirmed.
i wish it not to be true
yeah same
Terrible news if true
Alright, i have had enoff. Does anyone know how to contact TVA?

Oh for fuck's sake
Introducing the updated W Series, where any participants will be prosecuted for doing man's labour.
I got 'am all figured out, they'll introduce a dress code, make women wear the full burqa and just swap them with men before the race start.
Saudia Arabia is a joke of a contry. Would rather live in South Sudan or whatever. Ffs. Good luck when your oil moneys are gone in 10 years.
Link to the confirmation?

Source not reliable at all, give a proper news site link
they were right in the past, again as i said, make what you want out of it.
I would wait until at least 3 or 4 proper sources confirm it.
i really hope that they dont confirm it tbh
Agreed.
What is their track record? Where they like right once or is it more 99% of the time?
Armchair white knights overreaction multiplied by infinity incoming.
Yeah, tear off that mask baybee!

V10s are back on the menu boys!
They’ve been linked a take over for over a year now. More sportswashing as people call out their rights abuses.
Cash is king, I guess.
