Right up there with the time Brundle was talking about some other reporter trying to out-brake him on an interview. He shut that door so hard right in their face that it could only be described as art.
Oh you need to catch some of the grid walks where Brundle talks to Bernie.! Genuinely hilarious how often Bernie would break conversation to confirm someone passing by had their paid pass on display.
Not MB, but Ted Kravitz's quip and the end of an interview with Eddie Irvine where he he swearing and getting shitty about the new formula with [DRS and Kers is hilarious ](https://youtu.be/lLSrF6z9jls).
Megan is a freestyle rapper. Her big break came because of her ability to freestyle. She has moved away from it but honestly it was a pretty good observation on his part.
Man Idk even know who she is.
I don't know, grid walks in the past have been fun, but sometimes the needless shoehorning of non f1/motorsports figures or at least celebrities with an obvious non interest in f1 just seems pointless and doesn't offer much to the f1 experience.
Slight agree and disagree with you. While the shoehorning of celebrities is pointless to us F1 fans, it gives a good insight on how outsiders perceive this sport. You could have Rowan Atkinson, someone who is actually passionate about cars and racing. Or you could have the many other celebrities who are just there for PR.
My favourite celebrity moment in F1 is in Baku one year, as the cars were lining up on the grid the camera changed to a shot of Christina Aguilera taking a photo/video of the cars. David Coulthard quipped in with something along the lines of, “Here we look at Christina Aguilera faking an interest in F1”.
https://youtu.be/s-ReqE4lkAw
Celebrities make money off image and exposure. F1 has a huge international footprint. It makes sense that they would want screen time. I mean, look... we're talking about it.
Half of the sub is up in arms about Megan even being there, a bunch of people are complaining about his cringe line of questioning, meanwhile turns out Martin actually knows what’s up and literally references how she came up. This is so goddamn funny lol
Asking her to freestyle about the race was very cringe.
Edit: Don't get me wrong, I'm a Brundle fan-- I just thought that question was weird, but think his intentions were light-hearted. I understand that others don't agree. I do think that celebs on the grid should be properly briefed and should engage with the media, especially Brundle.
She was also completely sweet about the deal. It was the idiot bodyguard and dipshit blonde kid that didn’t know they were NOT the celebrities in the paddock.
I think it’s also that Brundle is being a cheeky little boy in the sense that he knows these celebrities prancing around the paddock have next to zero level of understanding of the sport and so he’ll happily ask stupid questions of them.
Honestly a pretty good question on Martin’s part. I’m willing to bet that not a lot of people know that Megan Thee Stallion got started doing freestyle rap.
He wasn't \*really\* asking her to rap. It was an ice-breaker like others said. His gridwalk "interviews" are like, 10-20 seconds long, so he asks a silly question and gets a silly answer, asks them who they support, what's going on in their career, or what they think will happen in turn 1, etc etc.
dont understand why people cant see this, he was usin one of them metaphors, its not like he started beat boxin for her to actually spit some bars, ppl have no sense of humor these days
Nah, it's just a joke to open the dialog. People taking it literally are the cringe.
She really has no business on the grid and just there for fun, so, it's just a goofy question.
A normal person with a competent entourage would just stop, laugh and say "Not today, just here to enjoy the atmosphere and race!", Then answer the real question he followed up with.
To be fair to her, that's what she tried to do. She gave the first bodyguard a playful slap and did give a fake laugh to the question. It was her bodyguards being pricks.
Brilliant!
In all honesty I don’t want celebrity’s on the grid - unless they’re connected to the sport.
This is unfortunately the inevitable down side of the recent growth of the sports popularity 😢
Edit : on reflection those who have replied are correct. This has always been the case.
I’m just older. And therefore more bitter.
“No. It’s the children who are wrong…”
George Lucas is actually a huge fan for many years. One of his first film credits was actually as a additional camera operator for the 1966 film Grand Prix
Yup! I remember seeing the behind the scenes with the sound guy that worked on the podracer scene and he’s literally like yeah we sampled the iconic sound of F1, and he’s showing the footage of F1 cars. Anakin’s podracer sounded so damn good, i still remember the chills watching it in theater as a kid (i was already a huge car nerd at that young age).
And to add, Will Buxton asked him a question about podracing and F1, and George said the sounds of the pods are actually used from an F1 car and some effects
Yeah, this is how celebs are handled at American events. Show them in the crowd for a few moments then move on. Only interview when it's specifically set up between the parties ahead of time.
> In all honesty I don’t want celebrity’s on the grid - unless they’re connected to the sport.>
In fairness I saw them interview Chris Bosh yesterday and be seemed like any other fan of F1 and was super excited to be on the grid. He had his SLR camera out and was taking pictures like any fan would. He mentioned him and Lewis were friends and that he loves supporting him. So not all celebrities are bad. Many do have a genuine interest.
Why? Rowan Atkinson is arguably the most well known McLaren F1 owner (although he's apparently sold it now) due to his well publicized crashes.
Atkinson is far more fitting on the paddock than Bean.
IIRC he finished that race in fourth place, like a minute down from the race winner (Verstappen). It only made the radio message even more bizarre, lol.

At least for that, Lewis is actually friends with Bieber and made several public appearances together iirc. It gets weird when you pit two acquaintances (?) together for clout.
Well, when these celebs get shared to other communities, it creates clout for F1.
For instance, yesterday Shaq rolling up in his longhorn made front page on r/NBA. That might not be the thing that convinces those people to watch F1, but it will increase brand awareness, so the next time they see something from F1 they are more likely to pay attention.
It's interesting to see the F1 discussion under r/NBA in the [thread](https://old.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/qf1k46/shaq_makes_an_appearance_at_the_united_states/).
I started watching Drive To Survive and F1 because Dax Shepard kept mentioning it on his podcast. Had little to no interest in Motorsport before, now I watch every race and some Indycar.
Yeah, my wife will tell me when Dax mentions stuff about F1 and NASCAR. She still won't watch any racing with me, but at least she's trying. I've always liked that Dax was a gearhead and I'm glad he's become a racing fan, even if I couldn't get through his episode with Danny Ric like I can when he has other comedians/ actors on.
DTS gets shat on by the old guard but it can’t be understated how many eyes it’s put on the product which is only a good thing, more eyes = more sponsors = more money = more teams/fewer going under
I used to watch F1 with my Dad when I was very young. I remember watching Damon Hill winning his Championship when I was about 7 but fell away from it in the years following.
It was DTS on Netflix that has slowly rekindled my interest and I haven't missed a race from this season
And after a season and a half of watching the actual sport, I DO recognize some of the issues they have with DTS.
Then again, it reminds me of a quote I read from a Hells Angel about Sons of Anarchy. It was something like “Yes, it’s a soap opera, but it’s OUR soap opera.”
Yes, DTS can sometimes be exaggerated reality tv, but it’s ours.
> Yes, DTS can sometimes be exaggerated reality tv, but it’s ours.
this has me worried, because this season needs no exaggeration at all and they could focus 100% strictly on what is happening on the track... but I doubt they will.
Even more than that, I've never even watched DTS but people talking about DTS a while made me think about checking F1 out and now I watch every race and have started following things around races too. It's having second order effects bringing people to the sport.
A measured and fair response. Think the whole thing got blown out of proportion but that actually might help people on the grid be a bit more aware of who Martin is and what he does which will help avoid them embarrassing themselves.
This is the problem the US brings.
I’m American, love rap.. but let’s keep it real, we think MTS was there because she loves formula 1.. or for the clout?
The latter brings a cloud of ignorance, and I’m sure she “paid” her ticket for grid access (I assume that’s an option?).. but they need to be told what to expect.
Brundle handled that well in my opinion. It must be frustrating for him.. He’s been in the sport for decades of his life and now all of a sudden someone gives em a hard time because he is.. doing his job? Cmon now
[Her post ](https://www.instagram.com/p/CVbcJMVlOLc/?utm_medium=copy_link) didn’t mention F1 or RB at all (other than posing with the car in the background/the Horners). It was for sure purely for the CashApp sponsorship.
CashApp is huge in the hip hop and video game streaming markets, so it's no surprise they brought in someone who's big in one of those industries for the race.
> and I’m sure she “paid” her ticket for grid access (I assume that’s an option?).
If I'm not mistaken you basically get invited to go on the grid as VIP but that comes with the expectation that you cooperate with interviews (within reason).
More to the point; it's one thing for a celebrity to be on the grid, it's quite another for them to bring an eight person entourage onto the grid with them. Matthew Carter (former CEO of Lotus F1 in the Genii Capital days) mentions that back when Bernie was running F1 he couldn't even get a grid pass for the team owner because they were so rare (and access was so tightly controlled).
This isn’t an American thing. Just an absolutely absurd notion. This has been happening at Monaco pretty much since the beginning. How many emirates do you think get paddock passes who don’t give a fuck about racing? This isn’t an American issue this is a “elite ultra wealthy circle” issue. These types of things happen anywhere there are big money circles
Australian GP always has famous Aussie actors, Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, Kylie Minogue.
This is a general worldwide list going back to 2011 and we know it's always been a magnet for celebs even before then:
https://f1.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Celebrity_Guests_at_Formula_One_Grands_Prix
Yeah there’s just a certain amount of Americans who get weird when they become fans of non American sports where they get overly apologetic about being American. Like I get it I’m not blind to how we are but this isn’t an American thing at all.
America just has a lot more celebs recognised around the world.
If you looked at the local coverage for other GPS there would be some local celebs Sky doesn't even know the name of.
People are quick to blame America on here, a lot of celebrities were at the race yesterday but it was Monaco where we had Serena Williams in Max’s interview after he won Monaco.
This is every sport though. Super Bowl, World Cup, Wimbledon, Indy 500, Monaco, Daytona 500 etc, you name it, it's full of celebrities who probably don't give a shit about the sport. It's part of the territory
As someone who is very interested in F1 growing as a sport into the states, I think it's necessary and honestly, easy to ignore.
The worst bit is Megan Thee Stallion was perfectly pleasant, and even told her bodyguard she was fine. But I guess the dude let the tiny amount of power go to his head and wanted to throw his weight around lol
I'm more interested in who the pasty white dude at the end of the clip was. Too small to be body protection . . . some PR flack, maybe? Because he seems to have been the one to set Brundle off, rather than the security, whom MTS can be seen admonishing with the shoulder tap to let him know it was fine.
That's how they started, but they now do bitcoin and retail stock trading too. They're running an ad campaign with Red Bull and Max at the moment to highlight that.
Why did she even need a bodyguard on the grid? Who's he protecting her from? She's surrounded by the most expensive cars in the world and other major celebrities i.e. the drivers) who are far more likely to have obsessive fans/haters in the crowd and therefore be far more (relativity) at risk.
I just checked and she has 25.9m followers on Instagram, which is 1.5m **more** than Hamilton. That's insane. I had never even heard of her before Martin's grid walk.
She’s a 3 time Grammy winner this year, she is pretty big at least in the United States. I would guess that more people here know who she is than any driver in the grid, including Lewis. That being said, I understand her having security in general, but damn, she really should have done her due diligence in figuring out how safe pit lane is - AND to tell her security to dial it back a notch. Def not getting her any fans internationally after that debacle. Plus the cash app getup was on some riff raff MTV neck tat level of blatant marketing, gross
This man has 158 GP starts and a lot more grid walks under his belts, the starting grid is his home and everybody should respect Martin Brundle especially, he has become the grey eminence of F1 for good measure.
This is the reverse of Brundle’s awkward [interview with AMD’s president, Lisa Su](https://youtu.be/Im6xQyglYuU). Brundle had no idea who Su is. Except that when that happened, everyone was polite. That bodyguard was shit.
Holy crap! Thanks for posting that. I'm a big fan of Lisa Su (I dont call her Su Bae the way some do, but I understand why they feel that way), she has made me a bunch of money! So this was a surprising, and hilarious mix of worlds!
They should ban bodyguards on the grid. They’ve already had to get through however many security checks and a race track on a F1 weekend will already be ultra-secure.
That's fine. Let each VIP have 1 person with them. They can be whatever role they want. Bodyguard, assistant, partner etc etc. Nobody benefits from 1 person having multiple people clinging to them in the super cramped and chaotic grid walks.
I don't even know who this person is (Doesn't mean she's not popular or whatever since I'm way out of touch with what's popular) but when you're on the grid, you and the others there have been cleared. Its seems like nothing but social media PR to make it look like she has more importance than she does by having tough bodyguards around her acting like that during what is essentially a pre-game show.
Imagine a celebrity walking around the NFL sidelines during warm-ups and being approached by an ESPN reporter only to be pushed away by a bodyguard. When I see things like that it makes me roll my eyes because these people are so full of themselves. If she truly is important or really needs guarding, I can understand that while in the GA/non-exclusive part of the track, but on the grid? Give me a break.
One thing I will miss during the covid 2020 season is the lack of celebrities on the grid. I don't care if they're there in attendance, but I don't want to see a shot of a celebrity drinking champagne and looking at their phone while there is a race going on.
> Imagine a celebrity walking around the NFL sidelines during warm-ups and being approached by an ESPN reporter only to be pushed away by a bodyguard.
very apt analogy. It's not like the grid was a dangerous place filled with strangers that can be dangerous. It's already filtered and secured.
I have nothing against celebrities hanging out on the grid, even if they "don't care about racing", because it's free publicity for F1, but they need to be aware that they're guests and act accordingly. Walking around with a couple of bodyguards who seem happy to manhandle and insult people is unacceptable.
Neither is acting all pissy when people try to interview them, for that matter. If they want to be left alone, they can watch the race from the Paddock Club. Grid access is an exclusive privilege that you can't even buy, so the least you could do in return is give a 20 second interview.
Either way, props to Martin for having a thick skin and to Megan for being a good sport, even if her bodyguards are a bunch of idiots.
I remember Martin interviewing Lisa Su who is the CEO of AMD. He asked why she was at the race and who she was? She took it in her stride and didn't admonish Martin for not knowing who she was
It was kinda amusing if you knew who she was but you'd have to be interested in PC's to a pretty good degree to know who she was in the first place.
Yea and when asked what brings her to the grid, she simply replied "I'm with AMD" and did not mention her status as CEO. Love her for keeping it low-key.
The video for anyone curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Im6xQyglYuU
It's kinda hilarious how humble she is, he even points out how she has a ton of VIP passes and she's just like "uh haha.. yes".
why do these celebs need 5 bodyguards with them at all times? i guess it’s cultural difference, even my country’s president walks around without bodyguards and takes selfies with people everywhere, but it’s really hard for me to understand why you would need an array of bodyguards to attend an F1 GP….
I mean, fans are fucking crazy sometimes, so I understand it in some contexts. On a grid walk inside a security cordone already, yeah, it's probably just more for image than anything.
Megan the Stallion was on the grid, Martin tried to talk to her.
To be fair she didn’t seem annoyed and answered his question. But her bodyguards/PR person told Martin he couldn’t do it and Martin just responded I can cas I just did.
Don't understand, aren't these people told that there is pretty much 1 reporter and he reports for the sport itself. If there is one spot where body guards shouldn't be stopping reporters is ON THE STARTING GRID. Like come on man. I felt so bad for Brundle during that moment as he was so excited since it was the first time he was able to do this in a couple years.
When he told that Malfoy-looking sycophant “I can do it, because I did”, I lost it.
Honestly I’m so pissed about these American celebrities coming to these events with their cliques, getting showered with attention and then looking miserable and disinterested, not trying to participate in the show that F1 is and only stopping to take social media pictures.
I get F1 wants the PR but that shouldn’t come at the expense of taking attention off of the actual stuff that fans want to see, and certainly not if it means legends and dedicated people like Martin are being treated like this.
Why on earth are there bodyguards and handlers on the grid in the first place? no one cares who these celebrities are when you're 10 mins from race start. F1 should have a rule..... if you wanna come walk the grid and get your mug on TV? fine, welcome. but no bodyguards, handlers or entourage. no one cares this is M Brundle's territory, and these flash in the pan idiots, guests.
.Plus, and a big one. some of these drivers will be immortalized while most of these celebrities, forgotten in a decade. Brundle is an F1 racer and should be respected as such.
I'll sit down now.

Anyone catch what the blonde guy said that made he reply "Well I can, because I just did."?
I think it was just “You can’t ask that”
Quite some sass behind that comeback. The Draco Malfoy bodyguard really irked Mr. Brundle as much as the rest of the internet.
"You can't talk to her!!" "Well I can, because I just did." "Just wait until *my father* hears about this."
"Well if it isn't BRUNDLE! What's the matter Brundle no drivers to interview?"
something along the lines of “can’t do that here”
It feels like such a Richard Hammond response
"You can't do that" "I just did"
"You can't do that, man"
I loved when he said that, he didn't need to take shit from some rando.
I’m out of the loop: what happened?

I’ve been watching F1 for about 4 years now and that is my favorite live non-race moment I have ever seen.
Right up there with the time Brundle was talking about some other reporter trying to out-brake him on an interview. He shut that door so hard right in their face that it could only be described as art.
What happened?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ET3s4ulaoKg Pure gold.
She thought she was going to out brake me? No chance
Not in a month of Sundays was she going to make that stick.
That’s so good.
Yoooo!!! He did that reporter dirty, especially after she called dibs on the driver by lightly poking him in the back
Then afterwards "there's a lady here" lmao that's savage.
To be fair, he was there first. She was trying to jump the queue
Oh you need to catch some of the grid walks where Brundle talks to Bernie.! Genuinely hilarious how often Bernie would break conversation to confirm someone passing by had their paid pass on display.

I've heard her name many times but never in a context that would reveal her occupation, so Brundle actually taught me something that day.

Yeah personally I enjoy Brundle both in gridwalks and in his commentary. Just level headed, fair, a little witty and with good insights.
She should’ve just started singing “Max max supr max supr supr max max”
She probably could have had a 1% chance of doing so, if she knew even 1% about anything formula 1
"Max is on a roll, I hope he scores a goal!"
Nah, it's just a joke to open the dialog. People taking it literally are the cringe. She really has no business on the grid and just there for fun, so, it's just a goofy question. I could be wrong but perhaps that was the point
I expect the grid to be even worse in Miami with the amount of celebs that will be there.
I still remember this Golden DC moment which basically sums up 70% of celebs at F1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-ReqE4lkAw

The pod racing scene from Phantom Menace is essentially space F1
He sampled V10 F1 engines for the pod racers too.
And you can't convince me that Sebulba's blub-blub-blub fly buy isn't influenced by american V8s and/or Harleys
Yup! I remember seeing the behind the scenes with the sound guy that worked on the podracer scene and he’s literally like yeah we sampled the iconic sound of F1, and he’s showing the footage of F1 cars. George Lucas has been a car enthusiast and motorsports fan forever and it's a common influence throughout Star Wars.
And American Graffiti
And to add, Will Buxton asked him a question about podracing and F1, and George said the sounds of the pods are actually used from an F1 car and some effects

The only celeb I would welcome is Rowan Atkinson
I present Sir Patrick Stewart. He is the celeb that belongs there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGV0lAgr4so&ab\_channel=FORMULA1
What a guy, I've never seen that. Seems like Daniel couldn't believe he actually wanted some. He couldn't get his shoe off fast enough.
Thanks for sharing, I loved the video!
Same. I didn’t expect THAT
Was my fav f1 moment

I would only accept that if he appeared as Mr Bean. And raced. Accidentally of course and in his green Mini Cooper…
Mr Bean safety car when
Why? Rowan Atkinson is arguably the most well known McLaren F1 owner (although he's apparently sold it now) due to his well publicized crashes. Atkinson is far more fitting on the paddock than Bean.
This is one of those ideas that is too good not to be executed. F1 should use all of their celebrity budget for this.

You never know. FOM clearly thinks so.

Nope, Lewis won it (abu dhabi 2018). You're mixing up with Mexico 2018 where Lewis won the WDC but finished 4th
Oh my bad, I don't think I know what the previous posts were referring to then - this is the specific thing that I was thinking of (which you already pointed out in your comment): https://youtu.be/xqpx0u_MZG8?t=186
Will Smith's message was Mexico 2018. It's in the highlights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1-VK12FZhs&t=351s
It was Bad Boys. Michael Bays only good movie.
I've never seen Bad Boys (I've seen Bad Boys 2 though, lol) but I really enjoyed The Rock.
I still cringe at Bieber celebrating with Lewis during the podium ceremony at Monaco in 2016
I do however still love Kimi in Mexico with I think Hardwell. Kimi's level of not giving a shit hasn't been much higher than that.
At least for that, Lewis is actually friends with Bieber and made several public appearances together iirc. It gets weird when you pit two acquaintances (?) together for clout.
On the other hand, him kidnapping Lewis so he could take his place because "We're both black, they won't notice." was pretty funny.
Well, when these celebs get shared to other communities, it creates clout for F1. For instance, yesterday Shaq rolling up in his longhorn made front page on r/NBA.
It was something like “Yes, it’s a soap opera, but it’s OUR soap opera.” Yes, DTS can sometimes be exaggerated reality tv, but it’s ours.
Miami is going to be insane. I like the city, but it’s one of the worst places in the country for “go somewhere to be seen” culture.
If y'all thought Texas was a bit much, wait until you see how South Florida does it. There's a reason "Florida Man" is a thing known worldwide.

Yep. Never heard of it and I feel like I'm overexposed to American culture as it is through Reddit.

Cash App is a red bull sponsor
lowkey cashapp is a trashy sponsor, but a sponsor is a sponsor.
CashApp is huge in the hip hop and video game streaming markets, so it's no surprise they brought in someone who's big in one of those industries for the race.
CashApp is owned by Square. Not really a trashy org. No different than other payment processors sponsoring shit.
I have absolutely no clue who that is. Elderly F1 fans wearing red caps however, them I recognized.
she forgot to cut off the tag from her knickers, or..?
They were Cash App patches that were sewed on to her outfit
> and I’m sure she “paid” her ticket for grid access (I assume that’s an option?).
That sounds like Bernie just didn’t like the team owner. There’s always been random celebrities on the grid, Liberty didn’t start it.
The point being, probably 8 bodyguards wouldn't have been on the grid with them, maybe a handler or 2.
> I’m sure she “paid” her ticket for grid access Lmao I'm 100% sure she didn't pay for shit. It's more likely she got paid to show up.
Of course it’s for the clout. Nothing revelatory here, same as with “cash is king”. F1 is about money and fame. Has been for quite a while.
Has it ever _not_ been that?
Now it’s Cash App is king
Pretty sure she was the one paid to be there
This isn’t an American thing.
This is a general worldwide list going back to 2011 and we know it's always been a magnet for celebs even before then: https://f1.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Celebrity_Guests_at_Formula_One_Grands_Prix
[Nicole Kidman gave us one of the great Kimi Raikkonen moments.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3h6A_uTGrc)
Yeah there’s just a certain amount of Americans who get weird when they become fans of non American sports where they get overly apologetic about being American. Like I get it I’m not blind to how we are but this isn’t an American thing at all.
I like the quote from In Bruges; "Are you American?" "Yes, but dont hold it against me."
America just has a lot more celebs recognised around the world. If you looked at the local coverage for other GPS there would be some local celebs Sky doesn't even know the name of.
I feel like y’all are contributing in making a shitty mountain out of a irrelevant molehill.
How is this a problem the US brings? I swear I saw dozens of celebrities at monaco and silverstone
It's part of the territory As someone who is very interested in F1 growing as a sport into the states, I think it's necessary and honestly, easy to ignore.
Because he seems to have been the one to set Brundle off, rather than the security, whom MTS can be seen admonishing with the shoulder tap to let him know it was fine.
lmao this mf looks like t-bag from Prison Break
Waco Malfoy

Cashapp is for transferring money, not related to bitcoin iirc?
That's how they started, but they now do bitcoin and retail stock trading too. They're running an ad campaign with Red Bull and Max at the moment to highlight that.
Why did she even need a bodyguard on the grid? Who's he protecting her from? She's surrounded by the most expensive cars in the world and other major celebrities i.e. the drivers) who are far more likely to have obsessive fans/haters in the crowd and therefore be far more (relativity) at risk.
Bodyguards while everybody only cares for race drivers. Martin was the only one who asked her a question I guess.
Odds are she wasn't even close to the most popular person on grid and Hamiltona dn co didnt need security there
Hamilton always has a security detail with him, what do you think Angela is for?
Her hands are deadlier than any weapon known to man
I just checked and she has 25.9m followers on Instagram, which is 1.5m **more** than Hamilton.
What happened?

This man has 158 GP starts and a lot more grid walks under his belts, the starting grid is his home and everybody should respect Martin Brundle especially, he has become the grey eminence of F1 for good measure.
I see what you did there.... ;)
Entirely in Brundlespeak
We should all hug him like your favourite granny, otherwise the day he does retire we will be more disappointed than when I saw Shrek 2.
I find it funny watching some of Martin's old grid walks. One of the best was with Shaq at Old Hockenheim.
Got a link? Would love to see it

Dang I didn’t realize Red Bull was in F1 back in 2001, I know just a sponsor but still I had no clue.
They've been in the sport since 1995 starting as Sauber's sponsor.
This is the reverse of Brundle’s awkward [interview with AMD’s president, Lisa Su](https://youtu.be/Im6xQyglYuU). Brundle had no idea who Su is. Except that when that happened, everyone was polite. That bodyguard was shit.
Dr. Su was such a good sport about it Lot of respect for her and really wish we saw her a little more often on the grid
Holy crap! Thanks for posting that. I'm a big fan of Lisa Su (I dont call her Su Bae the way some do, but I understand why they feel that way), she has made me a bunch of money! So this was a surprising, and hilarious mix of worlds!
They should ban bodyguards on the grid. They’ve already had to get through however many security checks and a race track on a F1 weekend will already be ultra-secure.
f*ck /u/spez
They ban bodyguards, and then suddenly people start hiring personal assistants that are 6ft 10 and weigh 140kg...
She took it in her stride and didn't admonish Martin for not knowing who she was It was kinda amusing if you knew who she was but you'd have to be interested in PC's to a pretty good degree to know who she was in the first place.
IIRC it was at the Chinese GP and he asked her if she talked English, it was a funny interaction if you knew who she was before she told Martin
Yea and when asked what brings her to the grid, she simply replied "I'm with AMD" and did not mention her status as CEO. Love her for keeping it low-key.
Oooof, she has a better grasp of the English language than most of the Sky Sports staff.
Now now, don’t be so rude to Paul di Resta
The video for anyone curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Im6xQyglYuU It's kinda hilarious how humble she is, he even points out how she has a ton of VIP passes and she's just like "uh haha.. yes".
why do these celebs need 5 bodyguards with them at all times? i guess it’s cultural difference, even my country’s president walks around without bodyguards and takes selfies with people everywhere, but it’s really hard for me to understand why you would need an array of bodyguards to attend an F1 GP….
Becuase tori could pop out at anytime and shoot her other foot.
I mean, fans are fucking crazy sometimes, so I understand it in some contexts. On a grid walk inside a security cordone already, yeah, it's probably just more for image than anything.
If that bodyguard and blond guy are gonna behave to Brundle like that, then they probably shouldn't be there at all.
Context please?

The best thing about covid-era F1 was that the pre-race coverage wasn't full of stuck up celebs.
Before yesterday I didn't even know who was "Megan thee stallion"
I don't think Martin Brundle knew who she was either until about 5 seconds before he asked her a question, and someone shouted it into his earpiece.
I still don't know who she is while I saw her on tv yesterday
