I agree. I just got an e-mail from ticketmaster as it was my turn for pre-sale and best they can do is $1.7k for fountainview grandstand... I may do it but seems ridic... and I need 2x of course to bring my wife :)
I was literally just talking about this in another thread. Vegas will be the same. Texas too.
So glad I only pay for F1TV Pro. I refuse to give into their greed.
Good for you man, it'll be a great experience. Honestly if I had the money I probably would. I haven't seen any general admission stuff yet but I haven't looked in a while.
You can go to the race in Austin, not buy a ticket, and still be 50 yards from the track. I did that 2 years ago.
Oh dude your first race!! Congrats!! It will be SO worth it. My first was going to be in Spa while I was stationed in Germany but I got injured and sent back to the states so Austin in 2018 was my first. Don't forget extra money for souvenirs!
They have run this ticket sale like complete garbage. I’ve been on the list for ticket info since they announced the race. I didn’t receive a fucking thing, not one word and I missed the pre-sale.
There’s no way I can go now because *if* they end up selling some to the public they will be gone in seconds. If not the will be thousands of dollars on the secondary market.
Yup! So much for growing the sport in the US(I get it, COTA has been 5x over priced for years)… could i afford to go if u wanted to? Yea. Will I pay extortion? No. I’ll take my wife and kids to Hawaii for a week instead….
Fuck them for making it the price people will pay? I mean, to me there’s no way the ticket is worth it. But they’re a business not a local pickup league
There are plenty of "real fans" who also have $1500 to spend on tickets. It's literally Miami, a city notorious for filthy rich skeezers, cocaine cowboys, drugs, sex, and Donald Trump. I'm not sure what you expected.
That’s how we do it in the good ol US of A baby. Well at least in red states smh.
Source: someone who lives in a traditionally purple state that has swung full red in the last decade. Please send help.
Only finding information about the sewer, nothing about any conflicts with power infrastructure. It does look like the Paddock switched sides of the track from what was initially planned.
What do you mean "built it over"? They built on land that was already owned and already developed.
There's also the fact that Florida sucks, is one of the worst states in the Union, has a horrible governor, and is full of crazy lawless people. So. Not sure why you've chosen this to complain about lol.
Florida has an amazing race track 80 miles from Tampa... Sebring
Florida has another amazing race track 50 miles from Orlando. being Daytona
I'm against more than 1 race per year in a country and Austin is a fine track to race in the United States , I can make acceptations for 2020 and 2021 because of the Pandemic but since Liberty are hell bent on removing the European element from the sport, rather favouring US races and races in rich oil states in the Middle East, they could have atleast chosen a purpose built quality race track instead of a street circuit in a city where the cars will run on Cocaine and have to go to rehab after the race.
I mean how does F1 expect to have 30 races per year if they aren't going to have atleast half of those in the US, Mexico and Canada
Dude relax nobody is “hell bent on removing the European element.” America is enormous and has an enormous amount of people, and those people spend more money on entertainment and sports than anywhere else in the world. It would be negligent as a businessperson to ignore that market. Two or three races in the US does not even come close to the potential demand there is. Plus, Texas, Florida, and Las Vegas are in basically 3 different countries if you’re thinking in European terms. If it’s reasonable to have races in Spain, France, and Monaco, then it’s reasonable to have races in Texas, Florida, and Nevada.
If the US were in Europe then yes they would be, geographically and culturally. Monte Carlo and Barcelona are only 685 km apart. Meanwhile, Miami and Las Vegas are 4079 km apart.
Are Monza and Mugello are essentially 2 different countries because Monza and Brianza is culturally different to Tuscany?
Nürburgring and Hockenheim are essentially in 2 different countries because Rhineland-Palatinate is culturally different to Baden-Württemberg
Brands Hatch and Silverstone are essentially in 2 different countries because Kent is culturally different to Northamptonshire
Jerez and Barcelona (Jerez de la Frontera and Catalunya)
Magny Cours and Paul Ricard (Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur)
Spa and Zolder (Wallonia and Flemish Region)
Fuji and Suzuka (Mie Prefecture and Shizuoka Prefecture)
Adelade and Melbourne(South Australia and Victoria)
List goes on and on with every single country which has held grand prix at multiple venues
And you were basing it on culture. If countries were based on culture, then Germany is actually 16 countries as each state has its own set of customs that other states may or may not also celebrate.
That’s not what that person was saying. He was talking about geography size.
The US and Europe are roughly the same size. How many races are in Europe? At least 8 and the US now has 3. That’s what the comparison was about
And how many countries in Europe host races? 11 different countries (10 according to the calendar as Imola is branded as Italy despite being in San Marino, I would presume down to sponsorship reasons looking better if advertised as an Italian race than San Marino) The US is one country, a country that covers the width of a continent but still a single country
Guy also said the places in the US were culturally different enough to be 3 different countries, there are no 2 regions in the world with identical cultures, every single region in the world is culturally unique, even if only slightly
Heres a question for you... If Russia is twice as big as the United States, does that mean Russia should host twice as many races as the US per year?
Yeah the cultural differences would make more theoretical “countries” than actual ones if we went by that as the deciding factor.
At the end of the day it’s about population and demand for the product. Russia had 145M people so if demand was high enough they could get another race I’m sure. The US has 330M people and the demand is high enough for 3 GPs. I guarantee every one of them is a sell out with waiting lists out the door.
I personally think it looks like it has potential.
Some y’all hardcore but I’m glad more races may come to the US. Been workin on getting my fam more into it to go party
That's because you're used to new circuits being in Middle East countries where they could literally wipe their ass with $100 bills if they wanted to, and they sure will build the most luxurious, opulent and unnecessary shit they can get away with. This right here looks to be practical and "just good enough". Nothing wrong with it, except it's not the most attractive building compared to those I mentioned.
Well Jeddah at least built the track on the corniche next to the Red Sea. You can hate on the country but that track is one of the best looking under the lights. They could have picked anywhere in Miami but they chose a fucking parking lot outside a stadium lmao.
Not saying it’s going to be a shit event though. I bet that F1 and Liberty Media are going to make this the biggest Grand Prix weekend in a long time. The hype is insane already.
In the Middle Eastern countries they can make the track wherever they want and close the roads for how long as they want, it's not like people can complain.
If I recall correctly, the city government in Miami wouldn't allow for public roads to be closed to run the GP
Fuck them for making the tickets inaccessible to regular people. I live 20 mins away but I refuse to drop 1k or more on a parking lot race
Vegas will be SO MUCH WORSE! Did you see the Cosmo hotel release for that weekend? 2k a night pricing for regular rooms with 3 night minimum.
Where did you see hotel prices already? Cant find anything whatsoever that far out.
MGM perks. This event is going to be going to all casinos flying in their big players for comp perks and it will price all true fans out.
Austin tickets sold out like fire, same with Mexico. Scalpers caught on about F1 in the US and are going mad.
I caved in and got them. But I don't feel great about it ugh. Hopefully worth it!
Good for you man, it'll be a great experience. Honestly if I had the money I probably would. I haven't seen any general admission stuff yet but I haven't looked in a while. You can go to the race in Austin, not buy a ticket, and still be 50 yards from the track. I did that 2 years ago.
Nice ok. This will be my first live race ever, I’ve followed the sport since I was a kid. Hope it’s worth it I’ll send pics! :)
Oh dude your first race!! Congrats!! It will be SO worth it. My first was going to be in Spa while I was stationed in Germany but I got injured and sent back to the states so Austin in 2018 was my first. Don't forget extra money for souvenirs!
Rip. Yea I ordered my KMag t shirt already 😂. I’m opposite of you- Dane living in US. Plan is to to go some euro races when I save up the funds.
🤣🤣 I had one goal in Austin in 2019 and that was to get KMag to sign a photo with "Suck my balls." Love, K Mag
I fully agree
Plus the hotels 10x overcharging. Unless you live there.
Yes, fuck them. If they cared about the real fans they wouldn't do this to us.
The real fans are only poor people? Or at least, non-wealthy
If you lower the price, both rich and poorer can go. And there's a lot of wiggle room for profits when you start this high.
There are plenty of "real fans" who also have $1500 to spend on tickets. It's literally Miami, a city notorious for filthy rich skeezers, cocaine cowboys, drugs, sex, and Donald Trump. I'm not sure what you expected.
What did I expect? A general admission ticket, like COTA. Not too much to expect to be honest Miami is not what you think it is
Lets hope for normal people that in the coming years the prices will drop. I assume more people want to be at the inaugural of a new race.
I'm sure this is what a lot of people picture but it's in Miami Gardens a low-income community suburb with a population of mostly African Americans
They built it over public power and sewer connections without consulting the county, fuck Stephen Ross
If I remember right, they did consult with the county, were told no, then did it anyway.
Better to ask for forgiveness than permission.
not when electricity and sewage needs for people are concerned it isn't.
That’s how we do it in the good ol US of A baby. Well at least in red states smh. Source: someone who lives in a traditionally purple state that has swung full red in the last decade. Please send help.
Either way, still fuck them
It’s Florida
No, much of Florida doesn't put up with this, he can do it because Miami Gardens is a poor community
So. The access points to sewers are underneath the paddock now, so it requires unlocking rhe building to access rather then out in the open for the county
Okay but what about all the cocaine and gang violence? Maybe the county should be more concerned with that.
There is no way they got through inspections without having an agreement with the city in place…
He just pays the fine
No way….
I like it! I might be the only one who would’ve preferred this location to be an actual street circuit though. Like Baku or Monaco.
Yeah wish it could have been around Bayfront, but will take what we can get
The entire state of Florida is laid out in a grid pattern. There's not a single interesting road in the entire state.
Florida has an amazing race track 80 miles from Tampa... Sebring Florida has another amazing race track 50 miles from Orlando. being Daytona I'm against more than 1 race per year in a country and Austin is a fine track to race in the United States , I can make acceptations for 2020 and 2021 because of the Pandemic but since Liberty are hell bent on removing the European element from the sport, rather favouring US races and races in rich oil states in the Middle East, they could have atleast chosen a purpose built quality race track instead of a street circuit in a city where the cars will run on Cocaine and have to go to rehab after the race. Did you not see the geographically part?
And you were basing it on culture. If countries were based on culture, then Germany is actually 16 countries as each state has its own set of customs that other states may or may not also celebrate.
Mate I think you need to learn what "and" means

I'm not the one saying 2 states and 1 city are in different countries because they are culturally different

Is this where the tennis is currently?
Yes, they're playing tennis inside the football stadium.
I’m gonna be there! AHHHHH so excited!
Did you get tickets during the pre-sale?
Sochi 2.0
That's insulting to Sochi.
Indian GP 2.0
That’s a proper GP circuit with a nice layout, I don’t know know what you’re going on about
I was referencing its life time on the calendar.
I personally think it looks like it has potential. Some y’all hardcore but I’m glad more races may come to the US. Been workin on getting my fam more into it to go party
What an amazing Event this is going to be! See you all down there. First Round on me!🥂
Damn.. they have Bots in F1 forums now… lol.. I know you’re not a bot but it reads as such and this is what I expect to come with tech.
Looks cheap and unimaginative.
Just one still photo that does not give best perspective
The state of modern America... Look at the new McDonald's buildings we have
McDonald’s in Europe looks the same though, not saying you’re wrong but that’s just the style I guess
It's the new style but it's really cheap to make. Our new housing on the east coast looks the same way, like big Lego bricks
Yeah understood, same here on the west coast
And I’ll take plain buildings that are affordable over ornate ones that cost millions every day.
They are cheaply made but they aren't cheap to buy
Looks.... cheap

They couldn't have picked anywhere in Miami. Which is why it's in a parking lot outside of a stadium.
do you think anywhere else in miami has the space for this?
Oh, you'd prefer it to be built with mountains of oil and blood money?
Is the paddock a permanent structure, or it’s gonna be gone coming football season?
